[Q] HTC or ??

HTC Incredible S is the phone I am opting for. At the same time Desire HD seems to be a sensible choice. Can anyone guide me; which one is Better ? or any other model from the same family with somewhat same budget.
Secondly, this will be my first android. I have heard that HTC phones are best when it comes to Android updates and their special 'Sense' UI.
If any other brand in the market is having better choices in the Somewhat Same Budget ? Not only budget, but I expect a really good functionality alongside good looks.
Hope you guys there will surely help me make my decision...

Definitely go for HTC. Incredible is I think better as its screen is just the right size, not too small and not too large.

HTC Incredible S and Desire HD both are OK.
It seems the camera of DHD is better than IS. And the battery capacity, IS > DHD.

@ hookguy, OmenosTM, evnnetuser. Thank you for your suggestion. I am definitely inclined towards HTC. Just wanted check some better opitions if available. Samsung is really offering some good models but doubt whether is it better to spend about 30K for Samsung instead of HTC.

That's easy!
The Desire HD has got Android 2.2 while the Incredible S has got 2.3 so I'd definitely buy the Incredible S. But if you remove the letters I C R D E B L and add the letters S O A N T, you get Sensation. That's the best phone you can get and I think that the hTC Sense UI makes it better than the Galaxy S II.

I go with HTC because samsung phone can get messed up right away if u root it . I rooted my g1,htc hero and never got them messed up. I switch over 40 roms together on both device. Since, getting galaxy it got messed up within a few rom i got it bricked. Even my droid from motorola didnt get messed up . Point is HTC and moto is durable. Im buy me a droid incredible 1 soon. Go with incredible s and HTC. I hate Samsung and their touchwiz isnt a dealbreaker trust me.

So, all you guys think that HTC is always a better option... am I right??

Make sure you go and physically play with the Desire HD before you buy it. It is a pretty big phone. I was surprised how big it was.

Shall I wait and watch the credentials of HTC Sensation and Samsung GS-II ?

My advice to you is to wait for the feedback from Sensation users, GB dual camera dual LED 1080p ...

I'm still thinking the SGSII is gonna be great down the road.
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.

I have HTC Desire and really want to have Desire S. I have to pay something like 150$ extra to get my old replaced and get Desire S. Tell me is it worth it or should I get Incredible S. What improvements it got from Desire? is it worth the Money?
1) how is Speaker sound compared to Desire?
2) Camera compared to Desire?
3) Performance compared to Desire?
4) is teh Desire S SLCD display better than the Desire SLCD display?
I know development support is less but I hope same tweaks of Desire work on Desire S too..

i think its worth it as you get a faster cpu,gpu, more RAM,better camera,better multi touch,more ROM

the development is much better now there are many ports from the DHD
if you want a larger screen you can get the IS

1. Speaker is clearer and more defined.
2. Camera is definately better at its definition, auto-focus, and its colour adjustment.
3. Multitasking is barely noticable.
4. I know they are both S-LCD, but when I looked at my Desire vs the Desire S, I can't help but feel the screen on the Desire S looks more defined and crisp.
I had the Desire (Janurary 2011) I've only just recently upgraded to the Desire S and I would highly recommend the upgrade, you can actually leave the house in the morning and not feel as though your going to be scraping for that last bit of battery on your trip home at the end of the day.
Most tasks the Desire S chops through with great performance, and minimal battery usage.
The one negative is the GPS, it doesn't seem to lock on as fast as I would like it to, although this issue can be rectified by using apps.
Definately do it! You won't regret it.

some people do face this issue but the majority don't
but in case your device hangs when installing apps from the market don't pull the battery instead press the power+vol up+vol down button this should prevent damaging the mmc chip

SGS2 Is the fastest phone available (source - Antutu Benchmark Rankings). Add to that the beautiful Super AMOLED screen and you've got a winner.

I'd definitely suggest the Samsung Galaxy S2. I got my hands on it for a few days and its worth the money

I think you are one of them who never can decide because it will "soon" come something even better. Reading all the specs and knows its pros & cons so you can talk against the seller when you are in the phonestore etc .
So my bet is that you will stick to your X8 util Xmas
....But you know what, I´ll do the same ;-)

The Samsung Galaxy S II has the better screen, and from what I've seen it makes better pictures. Also the battery for the SGSII is better: Li-Ion 1650 mAh vs. the Li-Ion 1520 mAh from the HTC Sensation. But the differences are not that great, and the HTC Sense from the Sensation is a great UI, and if you use a custom ROM from LeeDrOiD you can get a greater experience from the Sensation.

Hi all,
first i'm new to this forum and i seize the opportunity to say hello to everyone!
I'm planning to buy a new smartphone and i'm undecided about what phone between Samsung Galaxy S2 and the htc Sensation.
I really Like the Htc Sense and the sensation cut and I'm oriented to buy this one!
On the other hands GSII is more powerfull, more capacious but IHMO less handsome! It has also a more resistant and lightfull screen than the sensation!
Please XDA USERS answer to this poll, and explain me the PROS & CONS!

Well judging from the enormous HTC fanbase on xda, the sensation is more likely the one to win the poll. However I'm still going to go out and say the sgs 2 is the best in efficiency (obvious from the fact that little ram is used and the fluidity of the UI) for android. Any other android device out there that can play a 1080p youtube video?
However it really depends on what you want, eye candy or efficiency.

The myTouch 4G Slide plays 1080p like its 360p... So smooth. But, GS2 for sure...

Yes,i totally agree with Kailkti...I've pesonally used the SGS2 and i was an owner of the 1st so i have to say i was blown away with it's speed!It's VERY fast and quite smooth but also simple to use and quite elegant actually...plus there are lots of custom roms and kernels to use to modify the device as you like!Even overclock the cpu/gpu plus more...
I think sensation is no match for SGS2...

another important aspect that i would deal with is also the battery lasting!
I really stress my current phone (my old dear nokia n95 8 gb)! I send like 100 sms per day! Are those devices able to live all the day long?

Im not you so I can't speak for you. However for me this can last two days for me. If you are spend a day sending sms it might last. Granted your screen isn't on for more than 8-10hrs.

my friend own a sgs2 and my brother is using htc / my phones are in my sig i personally used both but htc leads the game
Samsung SGS2 = poor build quality in every 4 months u will need to buy new acc for it ..... / not that good with small hands / powerfull but do we really need that
HTC Sensation = Good build quality / good battery timing with data on / looks beautiful in all sized hands / every upcoming apps / games / new os supported

I've owned both in the past and to be honest I enjoyed the Sensation a lot more. It just feels so good in the hands and the UI is addiciting as candy (somewhat). I was planning on getting one a few weeks ago but held off since Bell was releasing the HTC Raider. Been using the new Bold for awhile but that died soooo I get a free replacement from Best Buy and with that I'm most likely gonna go with the raider.

Former HD2 owner and a great phone it was too and i generally like HTC, however nothing can beat the SGSII in almost every aspect (ICS beta almost ready too)

HTC makes better phones but galaxy s 2 is better than sensation

As an extremely heavy user (two phones, both dead in eight hours or less) my Sensation's battery doesn't last that long unless I use an Anker extended (1900Mah) and a powerskin case (another 1500Mah) but I'm not the norm either. I love my Sensation (and I'm living in a house with a Nexus S, Sensation, Rezound, Vivid, Nexus One and two Galaxy tabs (10.1))

The S2 is better as far as performance and screen quality goes but the build quality feels cheap and Touchwiz is gross. Sense is much better.

i am also in this dillema. curently owning an htc desire. wanted to go for the sensation but even if I expected nothing but good build quality from HTC i see hundreds of post on xda about dust under the screen, death grip and poor screen quality. so now i don't know wich to buy. btw htc sense is the only thing that keeps me near the sensation but i think that the sgs2 with a third party launcher would be even nicer. any suggestions?

I would say you should get the Galaxy Note. The screen is jaw dropping. I would wait until the major bug with the ICS update has been resolved tho.

Yeah the Note is awesome. But the reason I don't want to buy it is because the screen is too big in my opinion. I don't want a phone bigger than 4.3" screen.
The big 5.3" screen is awesome I must say but it doesn't make it a cell phone, somewhere between a phone and a tablet. And I would find it really difficult to carry it around.
The Htc One S is also good. But specs wise the Xperia S gives much more than the One S. That's why I chose the Xperia S. Any other thoughts?

Did you thought about HTC ONE X, GALAXY NEXUS, in my opinion, they're great devices, superfast, excellent and HAVE big screens, THEY ALSO COME with stock ICS.

The problem is that I live in India. And my budget is 30,000 INR(approx 550 USD) and the Htc One X is around 37,000 INR which is out of my budget. And the Galaxy Nexus didn't launch in India.
But what do you guys think about the SXS? Is there something bad about it cause no one is even mentioning to buy it. Is it worth the price?

in case of the speed: definitely !
the screen resolution on the XS is really nice.
the only two things i disliked on the one s were the pentile matrix (but of course you have to look really close to the phone) und the free storage of 10gb - for me thats not enough

The One S has Snapdragon S4 processor rather than the S3 of Xperia S. That's the main reason why the One S is faster I guess and the main reason I was opting for it before.
But later I heard the news that in India the One S is going to launch with an S3 processor with overclocked 1.7ghz!! (Source) But still its not an S4!
Really a shameful decision by Htc
The processor was the only place where it had outranked SXS, and now its not even that. That's why I am thinking of buying SXS rather.

My opinion was to get the Sensation instead.
The sensation has a bigger screen,but manageable. People will tell you the bravia display is brilliant but there's a price, that screen is a battery guzzler. And Sony don't give much battery.
The Sony has fixed memory.
HTC are built solid. You'll have that phone forever.
Battery pull. I do it all the time when I mess up. You can't do that on a SXS.

Are you talking about just the Sensation or the Sensation XE/XL? And don't you think these devices are old now? I mean in some time they will become completely out dated.
And for the SXS besides the battery life and the yellow tint problem(which sony replaces for free) are there any other serious issues?

I'd get galaxy note , International unlocked version as onsale on ebay for 459 USD over aweek ago. I would wait and catch the SALES.

I was talking about the XE. It is a well clocked dual core phone,and was built as a flagship device. The XL has only cosmetic updates but if they matter to you, you can consider it.
These phones they'd like to make you think they're outdated, but they're not. HTC gave the XE ics,and $150 earbuds. I'm not an audiophile so I don't care if there's better buds in that price range coz again, they came free. Big discount. It has Sense 3.6 which is Stable(4.0 was something new and has issues) so only the one update when you open the box and your phone will be perfectly userble. Sony take forever to update,and sometimes not at all.(PLAY anyone?) And their phones don't stay flagship too long(arc-arc s-xperia s gap) and the original arc was abandoned to 2011 waiting list. Sense > Timescape.
I like using my phone abit before resorting to xda.So if I we're to suggest phones
1. Galaxy S2
2.HTC sensation XE
3.Galaxy Note
4.Sony Xperia S
5.Droid RAZR MAXX.
