[Q] Why cant HTC nail audio during Video Recording? - myTouch 4G General

It seems release after release they have the same issues with audio recording. While other manufacturers (Moto, Nokia, and Apple) just get it right (well for a cell phone)
are they just using crappy mics or is it in the codecs?

[Q] Audio Quality on Recordings. Video Attached.

I know this may be a repeat, and if so i apologize. I tried searching the forums but there was nothing in relation to this issue specifically....
I went to a concert on New years with a buddy of mine (who has an iphone 4), and we both recorded videos. The video quality on the NS seemed to be better than the 'iPhone 4", however the nexus audio quality in the video recording was just horrendous. the iphone 4 played the exact same video with lower video quality, but crystal clear audio.
on the NS you could hear nothing but BASS levels. Can anybody explain to me:
1. Why this happens on the NS and not on the iphone4?
2. Can this be solved with using an external headset?
3. Will this be fixed in any patches (720p recording, etc) or is it a hardware issue?
I'll upload the two videos for you to compare.
Edit: I'll have to get the actual video file from the iphone, but this should give you enough of an example.

may have something to do with the software based noise cancellation
Wait, is the Nexus S not hardware based noise cancellation? Correct me if im wrong, but the nexus 1 had a second microphone just for this?
Unless this is patched, this might be a dealbreaker for me as I use my camera recording, and audio recording frequently.

yup NS only has one microphone, i believe it is because there are some new noise cancellation stuff in 2.3...that doesnt really work
unless we are dealing with the some audio auto gain, like the same problem found in the SGS phones
Thanks for the response guys, this might just be reason enough for me to go back to the N1 until the NS has better updates.

Video Recording Sound Quality

Is there a chance where we can improve/fix the audio of the video we are recording? I didn't spend 450$ on phone which has a good video but bad audio.
ur absolutlly wright, but seems that the new pomped product from htc,it has more bugs, that the bad video recording sound.yes u could eliminate that problem,as i read on this site, and others,by flashing a custom rom, that will some how eliminate the sound recording bug.ur not the only one...
There already have been almost 3 thread's about this...
Umm, mine seems great! Sensation has Stereo recording, it's meant to be great. How does your recording sound like? :\
Use mono recording instead of stereo... gives some improvement...
Yeah, got better a bit. But, still sounds so loud. I wish there is a fix for this.
Would the HTC Rezound's camera work on the Sensation? Below are 2 vids with no mic clipping, sounds pretty good from the Rezound.

aptx

hey! is the aptx codec enabled automatically on the htc one s? ie. it will automatically choose aptx when the receiving device supports it? cheers, thomas
I've tried to test this myself at a friends house with some ZiiSound D5X speakers, and subjectively there was a bit better audio quality compared to an A2DP-only HTC Desire. Hard to tell though might be Beats "improvements" that we heard rather than any difference due to Apt-X. Is there a way to even see when Apt-X is active?

Phone with the best audio recording

I'm looking for a new smartphone that has great audio recording. My HTC One does great audio recording when it comes to shows/concerts but sadly the phone died on me. Any phone that you guys could recommend? I'm mainly going to use it recording rock bands and such.
up
from my experience use low end samsung and sony phone, both give much low quality compare dedicated audio/ voice recording.
the audio/ voice recording i use to compare is also not the high end, just around $75-100.
I think in Nokia lumia phones cuz they have dedicated advanced mic's

I just hate how Lumias perform process wise.
Any new Lumia model would be the best choice.
yesss
i second, third...blabla the lumias....or the pureview 808. Go on youtube and watch the difference...the claritity is beyonddd

Why video sound comes out so bad in live shows?

Hey guys, yet another try to record video in a live show... And again.. The audio of it comes so ****ty and distorted.
So i don't expect any solution from oneplus anymore. I even tried to take the microphone gain a little which didn't really helped so i guess it's just the mic isn't so good.
Any ideas how to get good audio in loud environments? I just don't think it's legit that an iPhone 4 can peform good in these kind of environments when the OPO (which is a better device a hundred times) cannot do such simple thing.
There are more than one available video recording apps on the play store that allow you to lvl the audio input whether it comes from the OPO mic or an external hooked up. I use a Zoom H1 with my OPO which has far superior performance for recording audio in loud environments. Plus I can hook in external LAV mics for interviewing
