questions first:
does your phone always display white or deadlock when you are playing games, surfing onlines or something else? does yoour moto droid 2 give no responce no matter how many times you touch the screen? does you spot that battery of your moto droid 2 is draining?
if so, the problem might exits in your Droid 2 LCD digitizer screen. let me explain in details.
there are two versions available in the market:
one is manufacured by the OEM factory , this kind of digitizer features a very good and stable performance, and can support you with a wonderful enjoyment with your droid 2. besides it do nearly no harm to your phone so that your phone has a long lifespan.
the other version is not as good as the OEM digitizer of cource. generally the digitizer screen and the LCD flex cable are two seperate parts, they are adhered together by a machine after have been purchase from the market. so, the disadvantage of this digitizer screen is quite obvious: poor performance, harmness to your phone and short lifespan...
how about your moto droid 2?

I had a problem with my touchscreen in my Motorola Milestone xt720. I found it out becouse few areas of screen didnt respond. So i bought the Isopropanol and i washed every single part carefully. After drying and putting parts together it still was the same, additionally I noticed, that when pushing the screen near the ear speaker the touchscreen behaves otherwise, or works as it should. Than i took the parts off again and watched the tape. It was torn (or broken). Than i ordered new digitizer on Ebay. After replacing the digitizer and connecting parts again it doesnt power on, and even do not enter in bootlaoder mode. I think the LCD or any single part isnt connected wrong, becouse phone should vibrate and give sound while staring. What can i do with home remedies? Thank you in advance for the answers
If you were the one who did the assembly yourself, you should be aware of ESD. Have you tried reconnecting the old digitizer? And this time, ensure that you are shielded if you weren't (ESD straps). ESD can turn your unit into one real brick, so be careful.
i think you have bought a different digitizer that is not compatible with xt720,
there are similar digitizer with milestone xt720, like;
motoroi xt720 - looks the same but different hardware.
moto xt711 - looks the same but different hardware.
moto xt701 - looks the same but different hardware.
or maybe you have bought a damage digitizer. :-(
@Similya: I dont think so that digitizer is wrong, becouse it looks not the same at the visual point of the front but 100% the same from the back while watching the touch paths, and the tape with connector. Anyway there is not any other looking like my stock on ebay (mirror effect, and other button icons on the top), and the seller got ~99% positive grades with comments reffering to the "Milestone XT720 Digitizer Auction" as "It fits well and works great", "A++ Grade. Fits fine and working.", etc. So i think i have chosen the good one.
@pakpaker: I dont know what is it but i will google about the ESD, i hope it isnt too late ;/
And i cannot connect the old diditizer couse i threw it to the trash after comparison to the new one. Should it start when i just disconnect it and run?
edit: ok i know what ESD straps are, but i was replacing some parts in phones without it and everyone works fine ;/ and the digitizer looks more like the 701 / 711 one but everyone who is selling them says that fits to 720 and customers who buy it gives positive opinion and comment like "it works well". So what is going on? If it is not the proper one, shouldnt it start but just digitizer does not work?
just to make it sure, just bring your phone to a cellphone technician for a better check up. just avoid touching the chips and board. it might catch an ESD from your body. ESD can damage the cpu, ram and all CMOS chips.
by the way, what rom you are using.?
I was using stock rom 2.1 + root and some mods
Ok i will try to find someone but just cant believe that ESD may cause any damage. It has very high voltage, but extremaly low current, so that charge may not pass over any integrated circuit. I think it is only balancing the charge between item and hand, and those ESD straps protects technician against high current from other items which are working atm ;]
Hello,
Touch screen glass was broken, due to my phone fallen on the ground. The LCD was still working perfectly so i've ordered a new genuine digitizer for my HTC Z710E.
After replacing it my GSM does nothing . When charging i see the charging light lighting up in red or either green when full, but besides that i won't do anything. I disassemblied the phone again twice, reconnect all the connectors and still nothing. Sometimes my phone vibrates and sometimes when i push the power button the charging light disappears but that are the only signs of living.
Is this a common failure after replacing the digitizer? Did i overlook something?
Hopefully you guys can help me out.
Thanks in advance!
If the LCD ribbon cable is, in fact, getting a good connection then I would probably lean towards the lcd itself having been damaged during the install. Due to the construction of the sensation, it can be difficult removing the lcd without damaging it even for an experienced tech like myself.
What I would suggest would be to go ahead and order a new lcd. This would also be a good time to double check that the part number on the new digitizer's ribbon cable matches that of the broken digitizer you removed, as the incorrect part will lag when the screen is turned on at best and will not work at all at worst. As far as I know, the sensation and kindle fire are the only devices like this where you will have slightly different parts even within the same model and region.

Hmm i already thought so . I did it really really careful, but despite that it broke.
Time for getting another phone. Don't have much money now, but i shall see what's for sale
Has anyone ever replaced this Lcd and Digitizer. My digitizer has cracked and seems like the best bet is to buy the lcd and digitizer together.
I believe most phones have a serious adhesive under the digitizer pane so its worth just getting them together.
Here is what i am looking at. I am technically competent and confident i can take apart this phone without breaking it.
How does this screen look .

Having a cracked screen is not acceptable to me even if its small.
Replacing the screen is fairly easy on the m8 compared to the m7.. All you have to do is take the charging board off and the flex cables will slide out.. Try to save the tape.. I have gotten phones without it and they don't perform as they should. Watch this video it will help. http://youtu.be/f1qk8YSWg8k
If you've never done a screen replacement for you may want to take it or send it somewhere (and don't forget if it's less than 6 months old, HTC will replace it for free). It's certainly much easier than the M7, but for a beginner it's still one of the more difficult screen replacements. You may need to purchase the speaker grilles and some strong adhesive - I would recommend this - https://www.wholesalegadgetparts.com/product.php?productid=22096&cat=0&page=1 - it's the best stuff on the market. They have many different widths for sale on their site (I also highly recommend that site in general, but they are out of stock on M8 screens until the 16th - excellent warranty and best customer service in the business).
Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I last posted on here, and in attempting to avoid a pessimistic undertone, the G7 Power is actually a really good phone: the battery really does last for ages (I charge it once every two days, and it has never been below 40%), and it is surprisingly loud (everywhere). I am a pretty casual user now, rarely playing games or other media, but I am impressed with the difference compared to upgrading from a Moto G4. Some apps which appear as though they were designed for more premium screens - logos, icons, widgets - definitely lose some fidelity around the edges and these can look a bit poor on the 720p screen, but I have become oblivious (or distracted from) a lot of the finer details already.
And now the question: where, and how, would I be able to repair a cracked screen?
It feels like a pretty silly question; but the screen has 'developed' a crack from the bottom-right corner of the new notch, to about 2cm underneath the power button.
I say develop, as the phone is always within eyesight or kept in a pocket. It has never been dropped onto a surface harder than a pillow, and the case/screen protectors are still yet to arrive. It has been in my possession for about 12 days, and it lasted for 6/7 of those. I still have no clue when or why the crack appeared.
The question is a combination of where/when/how, I have contacted Motorola Technical Support, and explained the situation leading up to the cracked screen. The response was (exactly): "we do not process repair of the screen, what we offer is replacement of the whole device", they also said that this service will cost a fee (shipping + device) depending on the IMEI information. A single crack on the screen resulting in the replacement of a whole device seems pretty excessive, and the support member did not acknowledge that it is a brand new phone, or that it is* under warranty.
This is the first cracked screen from all previous handsets, so I am not sure what to do: is there any way to avoid replacing the whole device? How does this effect any warranty? What if I/whomever repairs the device creates other issues? When would services and replacement parts become available? XDA always has a someone whom is knowledgeable in these areas, and it would be great to hear some helpful advice from the community on how to proceed,
Thanks all,
MrSpuddy
(Also - the phone was bought directly from the Lenovo website - and I was hopeful that the "one free screen replacement" still worked)

Please see the teardown video here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/m...-power-xt1955-disassembly-teardown-video.html
I repair a lot of phones as a hobby. And phone that are assembled front to back are hard as hell to fix. You have to remove pretty much everything to get to the screen. Contrast that with something like the Pixel phone where the screen is connected last. You just have to pry up the screen and unplug the cable. Fixing the screen on the Moto G7 may not be worth it.
My recommendation is to use your phone as long as you can and then buy a new one. Hopefully by then it will not be as expensive as it is now. I know, it is not much of a solution...

The solution provided by the company was just to buy a new phone; which was not very helpful at all. My collection of screen protectors arrived, and the one on the phone is a lot more robust than the original screen.
Thank you for providing the video.
These screens are very easy to replace... Multiple times...
I have the moto g7 and I have replaced the screen four times, and I'm getting another screen in the mail this weekend, because this *[email protected]_-HJN' SUCKS DONKEY WHATEVER. I like the phone, but for some reason, the screen doesn't like to stay in one piece. All you need is a hair dryer and a new screen. Amazon has them. But you have to watch out; there are counterfeits out there. Buy from two different vendors, and return the counterfeit. Here's how to tell: make sure the printing on the ribbon cable is the same as the one you're replacing. Make sure that the printing on the back plate is the same as the original. You won't know until you take the screen off, which replacement is legit. But it's just one connector and some glue. Way easy, or mail it to me and I'll fix it.
