share you laptop internet to x10i - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

hi friends
our x10 not support ad hoc wifi network
so here are some tricks to connect to our laptop wifi to use internet.
here you are:
!) well at first you need to create an ad-hoc(any name you can use for it, my ad-hoc name is xperia)
2) then sharing your internet on it!!
3) trun on your x10s wifi.
4) create a network on your x10 with the same name!!!(add Wi-Fi network)
5) turn off x10s wifi
6) go to data/misc/wif/
after you open wpa_supplicant.conf
you should see this text:
ctrl_interface=DIR=/data/system/
wpa_supplicant GROUP=system
update_config=1
network={
ssid="xperia"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=NONE
}
change it like this:
ctrl_interface=DIR=/data/system/
wpa_supplicant GROUP=system
update_config=1
ap_scan=2
network={
ssid="xperia"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=NONE
mode=1
}
dont forget the backup!!
if ur on android 2.1
than u will see wifi instead of system in wpa_supplicant Group=wifi..leave it as it is..just add some line as above..
ctrl_interface=DIR=/data/system/
wpa_supplicant GROUP=wifi
update_config=1

Thanks you! ! I need it so much!! Will testing it later on. WinXP is ok too right?

I have a much easier solution.
Just install Connectify, it's a tool that creates the ad hoc network for you with minimal supervision .
Works like a charm and is free .

someone tried it but no luck.

[Q] Ad-Hoc

Greetings to all. I have ROM prime 1.6. At me such problem. There is no return through wi-fi. Speed of return - 0. An access point - Ad-Hoc, created through Connectify me. What can it be? Forgive for my English
I'm not sure if ad hoc is possible on the Transformer. I've tried rooting mine and changing the wpa supplicant file with one that was supposed to work. No luck.
If anyone else has a way to get the Transformer to connect via ad hoc, I'm all ears.

I have my Asus transformer connecting to my iPhone which uses an adhoc type of connection
All ive done was add the wpa_supplicant to my Asus's System/bin and replaced the WPA that was there... oh by the way backup the old one before u replace it...
yout will need root access, root explorer and the modified Wpa_supplicant file
I used the search feature of this forum and found this for you -
adhoc thread 1
adhoc thread 2
adhoc thread 3
Mine works fine with my Hero running an adhoc spot.
Interesting... can I just confirm something?
So in order for my TF101 to detect and use Ad Hoc connections, i must do the following.
1. Root my TF 101
2. Replace the wpa_supplicant file
3. Have my Nokia 5800 run JoikuSpot
4. Done!
Sorry, i'm really new to this.

[Q]Huawei U8160 Succesfully Ad Hoc

First of all i must say i tried to flash the original wpa_supplicant with these one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7716862&postcount=24 but it didn't worked so i tried to find other ways...

auth_alg=OPEN SHARED
priority=99

Dell Streak 5 DJ_STEVE 2.4.4 ROM AD HOC Please Help!

Hi everybody,
Does anyone has a wpa_supplicant file compatible with Dell Streak 5 Custom ROM DJ_Steve 2.4.4.
I'm trying to connect to an Ad Hoc network, "Wifi Manager" app can recognize the signal but unable to connect (Dell Wifi Manager cannot see the Signal form Ad Hoc Network)
I tried wpa_supplicant from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252619 and from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841&page=359 but it not working.
-------------------------------------
What I have done.
1. Enable W/R first, Copy wpa_supplicant into system/bin by using "File Manager"
2. Disable W/R after copied wpa_supplicant file
3. Restart the Dell
4. Turn off wifi and then turn it on
5. Cannot connect. (Dell Wifi Manager cannot see Wifi signal from Ad Hoc Network)
Any advices will be appreciated
Thank you!
I have used that ROM and this ROM

●●[ROOTED][GUIDE]Wifi Reverse teTher-Windows and Ubuntu-Ad hoc Networks●●

●●[ROOTED][GUIDE]Wifi Reverse teTher-Windows and Ubuntu-Ad hoc Networks●●
This guide teaches you to reverse tether your Android phone via WiFi. That is, it allows you to use your Ethernet connection of PC on your Android phone. It is useful for those who do not have WiFi routers and data connection. So if you have unlimited data plan for your computer, why not share the connection with your phone?
I am not the developer of the files supplied
Requirements:-
1.Rooted Phone
2.Wifi enabled Laptop or PC
3.Root explorer or any other application which gives system access
4.File in the attachement
Procedure :-
Phone:
Download Wpa_supplicant.zip and extract "wpa_supplicant" from it, save it on your SD card.
Open Root Explorer, and grant it superuser access when asked for.
Navigate to system -> bin and long press on wpa_supplicant; Select copy, and paste the file into any folder on your SD card.
Now navigate to the file you downloaded, copy it in same way, and paste it back to system -> bin. Note, you might need to mount the system as R/W instead of R/O by pressing a button on the top just before pasting the file.
Reboot.
▬▬Ubuntu (Must work for other Linux Distros too)▬▬:
Open Network Connections
Goto Wireless tab, select add, and set the following:
SSID: <Any_name_you_like>
Mode: Ad hoc
Leave other things unchanged, and go to Ipv4 settings tab
Set method to Shared to other computers
Go to Wireless security tab and set Security to WEP 40/128 bit key and set key to a numeric password (or hexadecimal one).
Check the connect automatically box on top of the tabs and press Save.
Your Android phone must now detect this network, and you can establish the connection by using your security key.
▬▬Windows XP, Vista, 7▬▬
Download and Install Connectify from www . connectify.me/download-lite/
Start Connectify Hotspot by giving a name and password to your hotspot and selecting the Ethernet connection to share. Make sure the security type is WEP or Open.
Disable your firewall (Simply adding it to exceptions doesn't work for AVG at least)
Now your phone should be able to see the hotspot and establish the connection using the password set.
Known Issues :
1.Random disconnections (Very less frequency)
2.Disconnections due to screen lock / sleep on laptop
3.For me Security mode does not works
HIT THANKS IF IT WORKED
ENJOY
Hope it works....

If you still haven't found anything to indicate that your computer is Wi-Fi enabled, right-click on "Computer" again, select "Manage" and "Device Manager." Then click on the "Hardware" tab. Read the list below "Network Adapters." Note that any adapter labeled "Ethernet" or "10/100" has nothing to do with wireless compatibility. However, any adapter labeled "wireless" or "802.11" indicates compatibility.

there its written my wifi card is abandoned.
I cant afford to buy a router or new wifi modem, plz help with this.
You have the answer in your OP itself. Check this out:
nectify can work in Ad-Hoc mode with just about any Wi-Fi device on Windows 7, Vista, or XP.
However, to run in Access Point mode, you must be running Windows 7, and you must have a Windows 7 certified network device driver for your Wi-Fi device. You have this device driver if you own any Windows 7 logo certified Wi-Fi device (laptop, dongle, card, etc.). However, many older devices have also been updated with Windows 7 certified drivers.

And this:
The following are known "abandoned" devices, believed to lack certified Windows 7 drivers from their manufacturers. They could of course be updated at any time.

Wait until & if Intel releases a Win 7 compatible driver for your card.
Check if they have already released an update for your card which you may not have installed.
Hope this helps.

Instead of replacing your wpa_Supplciant file manually, you can use wifi adhoc enabler app which will take a backup of your wpa_supplicant file and modify it so that our mobile will detect adhoc-wifi.
Im using Dell laptop, Windows Vista and adhoc wifi enabled using connectify and sharing that with my SGR

It will work only in rooted devices. Because Andorid cannot detech Adhoc WiFi in general. Only a rooted device with the wpa_supplicant file change can do that. Since its a system file, rooting is must
