For those newbies who don't know after rooting the phone,
here's my favorite apps list. (guys, please also post your fav apps)
1. Milestone Overclock D a real must-have)
2. ShootMe (for screenshots)
3. App2Card (not in the market. Google it)
4. Wireless Tether (making your phone a wifi hotspot)
5. Froyo JIT (From Milestone XT720 Optimizer Rev:2 by Navalynt
6. TypeFresh (to change the default fonts)
7. AdFree
8. CacheMate for Root users
(other favorite apps which do not require root access are omitted)
will the froyo JIT make my phone unstable or higher battery consumption?
Currently it's quite stable and show higher benchmark scores though day to day life is not much noticeably changed.

Normally it's all in the market (except App2Card).
App2Card is an app developed by Vietnamese developer to move your apps to SD card effectively.
Code:

Where can i download XT720 Optimizer Rev: 2 script??
The XT720 optimizer doesn't work with the South Korean version of the phone. Why the hell can't I find anything that works with that /sigh.
Hello!
I have rooted my XT720 with Universal Androot app (1.6.2 beta version).
but after my wifi is not working correctly. I see the available networks but I cannot connect.
What can be the problem?
Could somebody help to me?
but the app2card is not compatible with the singapore based rom, isnt it? I have tried using it with the app2card V2.4

I'm using StarHub ROM and it works since 2.4.1 is out (I'm not sure with 2.4).
the latest is 2.6.2 . you can also try that one.
hmm... I might have try it again.
I remember i tried 2.4.1, it was when the version just released and it didn't work. And at that time, u mentioned u were using russian rom.
Thanks for this good information!

at that time, Yes. I'm using Russian ROM but I'm so annoyed with that extra Russian keyboard, so I switched back to SG ROM.
after installing, I let the OTA update to update the ROM, so it become a 720 Mhz and DLNA provided rom same as Russian or others. then I root the phone and install the apps2card.
Just remove the russian keyboard. I used root explorer to remove it.

WTF, xt720 is much superior than milestone in terms of hardware, yet milestone can get an upgrade while the xt720 is being refused the upgrade. This is so far my very 1st motorola phone but will also be my last moto phone.
looks like XT720 is a test bed device for their 8MP camera module (which is horribly failed). So, only MOTOROI (with 5MP module) and XT701 will get the update but XT720 (aka 8MP testbed device) will be abandoned. (total failure).
Oh well, seems motorola dun really care much about the asian market. They can stay with usa market and play their own game there. Once, my contract is up next year, i will change to HTC. Guess it is much realiable phone and better customer support.

I think it would be very hard to develop for a phone without having that specific model especially if your talking about ROM development.
The peolple that have develope floyo hands out to them im talking about out side developers none want to touch this phone same on them.

why don't you start developing yourself?
From what I can understand, you are expecting people who do not own this phone to spend hours/days/weeks of their time developing on this phone for free. If that's correct then you are making an absurd complaint.
It's absolutely amazing that we have people like Khal, Mioe7ae and others working on the XT720 like they do for no charge. It is semi-understandable in their case though since they have the XT720 and therefore do gain somewhat from their hard work (even so, it's still amazing what they do for us for free). To expect developers to give up their time to work on a phone they don't own for free (not to mention the fact that it's more difficult to develop on a phone you don't have like 3rdstring said) is just plain absurd. To say "shame on them" for not working on it -like you are entitled to have a team of slaves working 24/7 to make your phone better - is just downright disrespectful.
Forgive me if I've misunderstood what you're saying.
I fully agree to syrenz. It´s amazing what the guys here do for us!
I´m really impressed how people from all over the world can work together to create better software for our phone!
Thank you for this!

Bootloader locked...full stop..
I think we should be thankful that these guys here work on our phone in spite of the locked bootloader!
Don't forget that the devs here are not payed for their work. They do this voluntarily. If I was a dev I really would think twice about creating a ROM for guys like you!
Whatever you say..
I didn't say I was a dev but I sure do appreciate the work done here by the devs and don't expect those without the handset to add to it.

There is indeed 2nd boot which the Defy uses to boot from another kernel. That's why they have that leaked 2.3 ROM and CM7 on the Defy. We could use that too. I already mentioned that a few times, but they just ignored that.
But I do really have a lot of respect for the guys that do development for our phone. Thanks a bunch, guys!

Every Defy ROM I've looked at seems to be 2nd-init from what I can tell. So, specifically, since Defy's CM7 is 2nd-init, there exists at least one 2nd-init ROM for Defy and I have logically negated your statement.
Nevermind. CliqXT doesn't check boot.img for signatures.
Second hand, but it sounds like the CLIQ/DEXT people have just figured out how to 2nd-boot with working radios. This was what reddit user Druuseph had to say about the announcement that CLIQ was now an officially supported CM7:
Druuseph 9 points 1 hour ago
The real news here that no one seems to be touching is the way in which they got it running. The Milestone team pioneered using kexec and init to boot into second kernels but it essentially turned your phone into an Android powered iPod touch; No radio access at all. Apparently the devs of the CM7 Cliq port used a second init after boot that allows the radio to load. CVPS caught wind of it and is going to apply this to the Droid X. If he can get it to work the DX might finally be brought into the fold.

So I can't quite tell if they are saying it's using a hybrid 2nd-init/2nd-boot or if it's just using 2nd-init. I'm researching this.
Edit: the boot.img the Cliq XT CM7 is being distributed with does not seem to contain Motorola signature blocks, so this looks promising...
BTW its just a guide.
I am going to sart by saying i take no thanks for this it is J.Y.DADDYs ROM.
What we are doing is putting 2.3 on MILESTONE XT720.

Is there any way to fix the problem or is there something wrong with the firmware?

Hello and thanks
Im sure this has been asked before but I havn't found an exact answer. Is there a ROM for HTC Desire Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 with camera working usb mass storage working etc etc you get the picture. Im not exactly a noob at all this stuff but i can't seem to find a ROM for it. and yes my HTC Desire IS rooted. also just out of curiosity where is that folder that all paid apps are stored in? well how to access it more to the point?
Uh how do you check if its rooted cuz an app says it isnt but i did it yesterday with revolution Oo
Well in HBOOT it says S-OFF and at the top Revolutionary highlighted in pink so I guess that means it IS rooted?
bump bump bump
well in terminal emulator putting "su" i get permission denied how do i log in with super user?
Hi!
I'm currently using what probably is the only one ICS image for Desire out there - in its repacked incarnation - found in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403113
Camera does not work, I had a random reboot while calling my brother, and while the mount2sd script seems to work well enough (my SD card is appropriately partitioned with a 500MB sd-ext) I just cannot manage to install Aldiko.
Otherwise ICS looks quite cool Its browser finally seems ok.
To access all of your stuff I strongly suggest to install Android SDK on a PC and connect to the phone via adb. It may take a while to learn how to do it but it's definitely worth it.
If I'm not mistaken, paid apps are with all other apps under /data/app, at least mine are.

You need to download the root.zip to get root access once you've used Revolutionary.
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
So, being thrifty, I got my hands one one of these buggers, and want to trick it out.
I rooted it,
Installed openrecovery
Put a CM9 Rom on it. Couldn't get the Play store to install.
So, I popped on fj's CM7 rom, it was buggy as all get out.
Installed Chronos Ginger X, liked it, but couldn't get HDMI to work. Requires Motorola's gallery and the like, which I can't find.
Went to unlock the phone, couldn't because the SIM tools weren't in the rom...
Struggled for 3 days with RSDLite to install an SBF. Seriously some buggy software on Windows 7. Finally had to dig up an XP laptop and it's parts to get it to flash.
So, I'm looking for recommendations. I want the highest version possible, but CM9 is far too buggy. CM7 seems the way to go. So either FJfalcon's Kang, or Chronos X. Anyone know how to get HDMI working on Chronos X? Would the 2.1 Motorola apps work on 2.3.7 if I ripped them out with Titanium backup? I would ask in the dev thread but my count is pretty dismal.
Thanks in advance if anyone hears this quite plea in the dark.

As stated in the topic, I have the Milestone, from Cincinnati Bell.
The CM9 Rom I used was from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1537122
Used the 07-Aug-2012 08:49 file as the last build posted was not documented.
When I couldn't get the playstore to load without immediately crashing (I did get it to install, just not work) I tried a modified one from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951275
that supposedly had a working playstore. But it too force closed.
I'm not dead set on CM9, though I would like it. I work with Gamemaker studio, so at least 2.2 is needed, CronosX covers most of that, just couldn't get the HDMI to work.
I very much appreciated your speedy reply

My apologies, I do not know if English is your native language. One reads text, they do not listen to it unassisted.
Additionally, I find using Google to search for mods and Roms that are on these forums to be redundant, as I can search here. I did indeed type "XT720 Mods" into Google, and other than this forum and Modmyandroid.com found nothing of value. All the links in modmyandroid are dead, or lead here. My only fear is that I noticed that if one is to revert to stock there are other files to be flashed. Being the language is in Vietnamese if a mistake is made, then hardbrick will ensue.

This rom is super cool. Im running a different one that's in the same section, it seems to have the UI more accurate like the V20. The devs there seem to be hella active. Ive seen updates every few days for both roms. Runs smooth and battery life is much better than stock in my opinion, cant tell if its a placebo though so Id recommend you test yourself.

I dirty flashed the 20l ROM over stock rooted 20l, it booted up fine and seems fine so far.

Q: Can you roll back to 20J after trying 20L, or will it brick?

I saw a post in the Dev section that stated both 20J & 20L are both set to Anti-Rollback version 2. As long as you stay within the same anti-rollback version then you should be able to move back and forth between 20J & 20L. I believe 20E is Anti-Rollback version 1.
I am about to move back to 20J and will let you know how it goes.
EDIT: I was able to go back to 20J with no problem
Do we need to modify any of the APN's or build.prop for use on Verizon in US? My phone says 4G but keeps dropping to 3G and then sometimes it says H...

Yeah, they are active but it is expected since they have a lot of sales in the Asian market. Can you please get me the link to the V20-like ROM?
Ty
Can someone say whether this ROM has init.d support? You can tell because there will be a folder called init.d at /system/etc/init.d. It may or may not be empty. If there is something in there then it's a pretty good indication. I usually drop a file in there that will run on boot and produce a log file in /data. If that log file doesn't appear, then no init.d support is present.

Can't find it using root browser, though it maybe me. Let's wait for another person to confirm.
I'll go ahead and assume the answer is no unless someone confirms otherwise. If I knew how to mod kernels, ramdisks, etc then I would add it myself. There is a universal init.d app that can add artificial support for this in the meantime, so not a huge deal. But kernel/ROM support for it is superior.

I believe this is the ROM you are looking for: RadeonMaya
I've had it installed for about 2 hours now and all is well.
V. 4.0 Back up first. My idea for easier update, wipe Dalvik / System / Cache and then install the 4.0
For Clean install, wipe Dalvik / System / Data / Cache then install

How did you extract this? The apps I used on the phone say a password is required. And it's a TWRP backup to be restored?
Edit: got it from the thread there! Duh

Glad you got it worked out, it took me a minute to figure out the password also lol. So far I've noticed my data speeds are slow and I only see 4G and not 4G LTE at the top so far....

Ah ok lol haha, cool. All my andoid apps on the phone are failing to extract it, even with the password.
But as for the LTE, I think you may need to edit the build.prop if it isn't set up to be a Tmobile device. Or someone posted a tmo build.prop file in the thread about getting the 20l OTA, I believe

If you replace the build.prop in this rom with a stock one it will get stuck at LG and won't boot any further...at least in my experience. I'm sure it's something easy but who knows
