Strange that no one linked this earlier, been posten ouround at different blogs the last few hours.
Anyway great to get it here as well, and maybe somone can dig up something more.
I find it good that Nexus one is running it, then I might be able to get a port for my HTC deisre
Great finding, thanks!
and this quy arrived a few days ago as well

All the screenshots so far have the notification bar cropped out, Google must be cooking up something so big with the notification bar that even the leakers can't bare to reveal yet.
One bad thing though, if the rumours is right then Google will release a new phone around Christmas. I guess this will be with more powerful hardware which will be able to run honeycomb or something.
So then requirments might increase siginficantly to 3.0, which means i need a new phone soon
Well our Nexus's are ready now for Ginger & co.

It's not a rumor, Nexus Two (or whatever they call it) it's going to be announced probably
in November 8th. Manufactured by Samsung. It's the same phone as the Galaxy S
but a little thinner and with a curved back.
Eric Schmidt: "Initially, Google felt that they needed to build a device to help Android along so they worked with HTC to create the Nexus One handset. Schmidt says: “The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn't have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticised us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: 'Ok, it worked. Congratulations - we're stopping'. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale."

Bollocks! I knew I should've waited!! I loved my Nexus One until it was stolen. I loved the fact that everything came there first, as far as updates etc. It was so obviously Google's own phone. I didn't like that I had to use Dialer-One and Launcher Pro though (not crazy about stock Android dialler).
I love my Galaxy S's hardware, but I'm not loving this RFS stuff. How can I recommend a phone to people if they're going to have to lagfix it.. How do I know some OTA update isn't going to break it a year down the line and then they all start phoning me ?!
A Galaxy-S Nexus would be cool I reckon ..

January 15, 2009.
Nah... Feb 10, 2009
Nope... kidding! I ment end of March.
Opps... did I say March? I ment Easter.
Point is... with all of the rumored release dates that were previously announced you shouldn't count on it anytime soon. You'll know when it's time... but don't hold your breath. Just be patient. It shouldn't be too long now... but you never know. We said the same thing back in February.
With HTC Dream being introduced in Europe in May, I can't see 1.5 being introduced until the release?
google is damn slow for updates..before releasing saphire atleast dream should get updated with 1.5 sux big time
No One Really Knows
No one outside of some people probably sworn to an NDA but feel free to speculate.
I'm guessing late May and here is why:
The SDK update is completed and released before the update is released.
The Sapphire is rumoured (maybe a fact I can't remember) to have a release date of May 2nd.
The 1.5SDK should be finalized and released in April according to Google.
The Sapphire may launch with 1.5 aka Cupcake since it will need the soft keyboard.
If the SDK is indeed released before the end of April and the Sapphire does launch in early May then one can speculate that the update should come before the end of May.
Your guess is as good as mine though I just hope it is worth the wait.

Amen!!!!
On another note, If you are talking about the official release for the Sapphire... the software will most likely be released WAY before the launch of the Sapphire. The software will obviously need to be put in place on the phone by then.
Now that is just speaking of the Sapphire "edition" to the software. They have always said there will be different builds of Android for different applications. No one knows ... eh hem NO ONE KNOWS what is coming to the Dream builds, and they certainly don't know when the next update will hit the air for the Dream.
For now, I am sticking with RC33 as it is stable and I frankly don't need ADP1. For those toying with a ported version of 1.5.... that's up to you. I cannot afford a phone that I cannot trust.

If Tmobile release 1.5 FW with soft keyboard and HTC's design before releasing Sapphire, I think nobody want to buy Sapphire )
Since they know the Sapphire has been ported they'll probably release it first, jus to make us suffer
release date SET!!!
i spoke with some people from tmobile called htc a few times and emailed some people who work at google.
1.5 will have to different yet similar versions, one for the sapphire and one for the dream
they both will be coming out on the same day
they will be officially released when they are done
Why Wait?
I'm running the 5.0.2H build, and it's stable if with a few broken features. If you want 1.5 now, just install it, it's easy to go back thanks to Nandroid.
That being said, while it's a nice update, it's not life-changing imho-- if you're running RC33 you have 99% of the functionality.

Hehehheehe! CS knows less than we do about phone releases. Now software updates are different but unless a rep is a personal, knowledgeable friend and not someone you just call up at tmobile. I would have to agree with the 1.5 ota being done after the magic/sapphire goes on sale but then again they may not have the sense to put 2+2 together and to most folks a new phone is way different than a software update. Who knows... after the G2 is released, we may never get a ota again, lol...
Seen it this morning on the Moto blog! I know its not gonna be anytime soon but that we know officially we arent being left to oblivion is nice.

Q3 rollout though? It might as well not be coming out at all. I feel certain that sometime between now and Q3 I will not be able to resist picking up some stupidly powerful quadcore tegra3 (or similar) device which will have launched with ICS, and probably for a decent price.
It all leaves me imagining that Motorola only have a single solitary developer with a shoestring budget tasked with putting out the software upgrades for their existing range of phones. Why else would it take so long?
Anyway, looks like our own wonderful development community is the place to pin our hopes for some kind of ICS goodness, within a reasonable time frame.

Not a big fan of the trombone. I mean, I respect it as an instrument, and the people who play it as musicians, but it would have been much more helpful if you had picked something like a cello (which I also like much more than the violin).

We'll get ICS WAYYYYYY before Q3. The dev are working on it as we speak the only thing stopping them is that they're missing the telephony.apk which we need in order to connect to a GSM network. Without it we have a really small tablet with ICS.
Since we know that there is ATLEAST 1 dev in Motorola working on it that means that there will be a working APK with any betas/alphas that get out into the wild. As soon as that happens you can bet jim or lfaber will jump on it and fisnish their ICS masterpiece and maybe make CM7 or CM9 with it.

That is exactly correct!!!
So everyone keep checking cheesecake, ALL servers at least once a day, that is how we will find an early version, as we did with 2.3.6 months before it was out officially. If we get that, then yes we can get CM9 working.
I might have CM7 out here by the weekend, at least that is what I am hoping, but it is still not ICS, it is the 2.3.6 version.
I know its not as fast as we'd prefer, but isnt it nice to hear SOMETHING official from Moto about this phone? We all have been in limbo, heard assumptions, conflicting rumors/"inside" info, so I like that we at least know the future of our device, officially.

Well, after trying every phone out there (including a brand new unlocked Galaxy Nexus (returned), SGSII, HTC Vivid, etc.) I can say without a doubt the A2 is the all-around best android phone out there for AT&T. I have come back to it everytime after finding the other phones were either cheaply built, couldn't hold a signal, couldn't obtain gps lock, or took crappy pics. While the A2 doesn't do any one thing extraordinarily better than other devices, the phone does everything well with good battery life and great screen to boot.
ICS will definitely make the A2 a keeper, especially if can finally unlock the bootloader for some custom kernel goodness
Q3 is July - September, when September comes expect an announcement about delays and when 2013 come expect your atrix 2 on ebay.

I've been thinking about this for a while now. I'm keeping my g2x until the new nexus phones come out, and then sticking to pure nexus phones from Google. I'm sick of waiting for venders and carriers to work together for releases, and I'm sick of crap that carriers add to phones which is useless and slows them down. I normally root my phone and install CM on it anyway, but with the g2x even that isn't a 100% working solution anymore.
By the way, I read that Google is releasing up to 5 different nexus phones from different vendors around Thanksgiving this year. I'd wait for that!

I'm jumping ship because the Sensation has more Dev support. (Really a lot of dev) They recently got official CM9.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449382
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342085
I searched for 10 seconds and found both of these. It's pointless to make a thread like this, especially with the OP's statement, does he want a cookie for wanting a sensation? Lastly OP my interest is not to stock what you have said in other threads, if you make a new thread make it worthwhile to read for the community, not something useless and informative.
Hey XDA I just had Chipotle, and added way too much Cholula to it.
If you're gonna jump ship, just do it.
The community for the G2x has been flawless, but I have seen the future, and I left it for the GS II. Man, they're a live one over there. Everyone's awesome and welcoming; a bit impatient at times when they ask for ROM updates (lol smh), but generally nice people.
Now all the devs here are a capable bunch, and they've managed to do what LG/T-Mobile/Nvidia couldn't do. I've said this time and time again. But without those 3 giving this phone even half of the effort, we suffer ultimately. In Driver support, Camera support, ICS support, annoying bugs going unfixed. The devs have to pick up all the slack, and that sucks. I left because of the circumstances that those 3 have put us in, and I'd say it's a fair assessment.
But if you're gonna jump ship, I suggest you don't do it for whoever gets ICS first. There's no way I would have gone to the Sensation, too many hoops to jump through, S-OFF, bootloader, etc. That phone's pretty thick too, not enough internal memory either (Nice camera though). Jump when you decide your time here has come to an end, when you have felt like you can enjoy this phone no longer, or if you feel you just need an upgrade/better spec'd phone. I believe those are valid reasons, as well as explanations that don't tick off the rest of the community. x) Cheers on your future smartphone endeavors!
ya i was on the same boat when the phone came out but meh there is a lot of things that i love about this brick lol but mind you the galaxy S3 is coming out so i might go out and buy one of those this summer
Just jump already
It all depends on what you want the phone to do for you... and what you are willing to do for the phone!

previously owned the sensation and I believe that the g2x is way smoother and feels better in the hands, though the dev community over there is rocking
Really? G2X feels better in the hand? I got to try it out at the store, been looking to get my hands on a sensation off craigslist for a good price, probably trade for my GS2.
I'm sentimental with my devices, also, have lots of back NANDROIDS of the G2X and need to get my data out of them before selling it. Actually thats the only reason I still hang on to my G2X. Too lazy to move my stuff out of it. I can, just don't feel like it.
I officially just destroyed my phone yesterday. I was riding my motorcycle and forgot to take it from my pocket to my riding bag. When I got to the gym I noticed it wasn't in the bag and didn't know if I left it home but just FELT something was wrong. I used my nexus s (which is now an MP3 player for the gym) to remote install googles find me service. After a while it finally popped and said it was half way from the gym to my house. I rode back and found it. Someone actually picked it up and brought it into a deli.
Anyway the screen was shattered.... like SHATTERED.
This didnt bother me since the glass was already cracked and everything else seemd to work okay UNTIL I went to make a call.
When making a call and putting the phone up to my ear the screen goes black and it takes a LOT of playing around to come back. I get NO AUDIO when using in handset mode. Like no one hears me and I Cant hear them. I can use it fine in speaker mode oddly.
I took it apart and everything internally looks fine. No boards cracked the speaker looks fine, headphone jack fine. My guess is maybe when it fell the headphone jack and/or speaker maybe popped out of its socket and its confusing the handset when not on speaker.
ANYWAY
I can buy a new screen for 80$ on amazon. Do you guys think its worth it if Im not 100% sure thats the full issue. I could buy a speaker and headphone jack for like 4$ a piece which is nothing but then I was wondering if the light sensor got messed up (which I dont think so) and thats actually fully soldered to the board. I can solder but cant find that part so I think it would require buying a whole main board.
Im using my S4 WHICH I HATE for now and miss my Nexus . Like I feel naked without it, and honestly want to fix it because it was a gift from my girlfriend for x mas cause I wanted it so bad. I feel horrible because this is the FIRST phone Ive ever had something like this happen to. Lucky it had a good spigen case and aside the screen everything else looks new still.
What would you guys do?

Google does not care if you rooted your device. Its a "hardware issue" (if you can call a shattered screen like that ) anyways so it wouldn't make a difference wether the device was rooted or not.

Hm, maybe they only have US models? (Or maybe too many US customers RMA'd for "loose power buttons" so they have too many "refurbished")

funny thing is I also JUST RMA'd for the loose power button right before then never sent it in. Being lazy and complacent finally paid off once cause they said if I had any other RMAs I might not have qualified cause tis case by case

Yes, will be available tomorrow. They told me that it's uploading but the connection is slow.
I already have the link to rom ..i will only post the link when u transfer 300$ in to my account
Haha nvidia will update if its in their best interest which i highly doubt it is considering the latest update that they will no longer be bringing out another tablet

Yes all of the people above were trolling. There is no information on if or when they will even do 7 for the shield tablet. The shield TV should get it but also no info...
Why would you want Nougat?
What's the point of updating software when the hardware remains the same?
Look how slow MM is..
Nobody knows, if Nvidia will give us Android N. So the question from the OP can't be answered.
But I think, that it'll come. Let's wait patiently.

I just saw..
The bigger issue is that they are not making a tablet to replace this one and are only maybe making a new portable it passed FCC but that does not mean it will get made. I am hoping shield TV sales are doing well enough or we might instead see the shield line get dropped entirely and if that happens forget getting 7 or any other patches first party anything like that will be 3rd party so none of the cool 1st party things in these roms...
My issue is Nvidia is doing a dumb move they can't keep the tablets on the shelves. If they updated the tablet but kept the same price point they would still sell almost faster than they could make them...

I can think of 250 reasons...
I'm working on it, no gurantees though
my biggest issue is going to be unless nvidia does 7 then we wont be getting optimized drivers or any 1st party features
The shield is an interesting case because it's almost entirely pure Android, and the fact that we got 6.0 so quickly alongside the other Nexus devices makes it seem like, to me, that it's an unofficial equivalent to a Nexus 8 tablet since Google doesn't make a Nexus 8.
That could also be a coincidence seeing that the shield is nvidia's only Android device which might explain why they're so quickly able to build the latest versions of Android for this device when you see other devices either never getting official upgrades or are heavily delayed.
Also since the base hasn't changed too drastically it seems possible that it might just be very easy for them to port over the build features like console mode and whatnot between versions, whereas something like touch wiz is obviously much more complex.
Therefore it almost seems like it would be silly for nvidia to not update their device to 7.0, even with the NX around the corner, seeing as that's likely to become the next generation of shield tablet, per say. They might as well pop out this update in the mean time and leave it there. I mean all the Nexus devices get updated at the same time and basically have the same exact code anyways!
If it wasn't for the fact, as I've been hearing at least, that Google and nvidia are dropping support I'd say we'd be getting it for sure. However my hopes are high and I still think we probably will since it's truly such an optimized OS and would pull every last bit of performance left in this device. We'll see for sure in the coming weeks. Cheers

New software can fix old bugs compatibility issues and make the software run faster. The same is true with an operating system.

Why are you even on XDA?
For rooting? If so, why change the software if the hardware is the same?
