Goddamn it im on ATT this sucks ATT has the worst phones. TMOBILE is horrible in NY and I have a hooked up plan i dont want to lose. Will have to tough it out with my TP2

I hope Costco gets this on the 3rd. Does anyone know if Costco got the G2 on its release day, or was it available only after the release date? I bet Costco will sell this for $99 just like the G2 was.

Getting this bad boy on day 1. Really excited

I've had TMo for 8 years (Voicestream) with no problems at all in NY, and the CS is really great, compared to most companies.

Will T-Mobile USA Disappear in 2011?

http://www.loweringthebarforus.org/news/entry/will_t-mobile_usa_disappear_in_2011
looks like tmobile is closing down? what do you think?
The last sentence in the article sums it up nicely "The brand name may disappear but the company operations and stakeholders will remain."
TMo just replaced their US CEO with new blood (lets let some of the Euro hardware in, m'kay?) like literally just a few weeks ago, and they're suggesting they're pretty aggressive with continuing the rollout of HSPA+ nationwide. The Voice Stream er Tmobile name may go away, but the entity it self isn't going anywhere.
...And although Sprint and Tmobile's target demographic does suggest a lot of overlap, in my belief, in the event of an end of days scenario for Tmo the most likely acquirer of tmo would be.... ATT! Tmo is shaped nicely to fit into the hole in ATT's portfolio. ATT is phasing out of iDevice exclusivity quite soon and would welcome the inflows of Android devices and their higher than normal profit margins. And for the shareholders, such an acquisition would give ATT significantly more Mobile exposure and offset some of the massive cash hemmoraging from their ailing Landline business. And finally, a huge majority of Tmo's Phones in the US were originally equipped with ATT compatible radios in their source countries where ATT already has a presence, then converted for the US - the whole thing just lines up quite well!
If ATT does pick up TMo,im deffinately leaving. Not sure who ill switch to tho, everyone else is more expensive and ATT doesnt have "unlimited data" anymore. Sprint's customer service sucks, and Verizon will charge you as much as they want cause they can.

+1 me too! I truly hope TMOUS stays…I like my service and the customer support is better than any other phone service I have had.
I wouldn't worry to much about it. They claim their lack of 4G is whats gonna hold them back. But whats funny is untill last year every network but sprint said 4G was a joke and would never work. After seeing the first 4G phone appear on the market I'm inclined to think 4G is gonna be a failure for mobile. No one wants a phone with 2 hours of battery life in trade for double the speed. Besides didn't Tmo already say they plan to roll out 4G in 2012, and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon saying 2011. If I were tmo I would skip it and hold out. They already use 3.75G Also the OPs post looks like a propoganda blog, heres the latest real news site report on TMO
http://connectedplanetonline.com/3g4g/news/tmobile-expanding-4g-061610/
They are claiming their 3G with HSPA or whatever is actually faster then sprint 4G. LOL Having tried all the 3G networks around here I wouldn't disagree with this statement. All my coworkers have to hook up to my phone via wifi to get any HD video on their phones. For some reason Verizon, ATT, and Sprint don't support it through their data plans, yet all 4 can connect to my Tmo 3G and watch HD youtube all night. We all though this would of made a great Tmo, Verizon, ATT map commercial.
Sounds like a lot of baseless speculation, just like a Sprint/Nextel merger. Teaming up with Virgin Mobile? Really
T-Mobile won't be acquired by AT&T, don't worry about it. If AT&T could kill some competition and become #1 they would've purchased T-Mobile
T-Mobile is still making millions, unlike Sprint.
Actaully sprints not in too bad of shape. They have many loans out but all are paid up and they have live 200 million in the bank for a rainy day. They took out billions to roll out 4G and now they basically own it and are years ahead of everyone else in 4G. I've actaully noticed many more sprint phones the past 6 months too. That Dan guy must be doing something right. LOL
BTW I'm getting
2.74 down
0.74 up
211 ping
Boy they aren't kidding, the HSPA doubled your 3G speed. Hopefully we will get it in a couple months.
Sprint 4G is usually pulling 4-5 down ? up.
That's weird, they opened a store near me recently.
Pure rumors...Good old Tmobile is not going anywhere!

AT&T Buying T-Mobile.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/20/atandt-agrees-to-buy-t-mobile-from-deutsche-telekom/
Looks like I'm going to Verizon or sprint. Anything but at&t they always drop calls.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
The network will actually be stronger because of the takeover but what I do foresee is a lack of our current freedom that T-Mobile provides us with its data plan, AT&T clearly likes to limit its customers' options to 2GB and furthermore AT&T seems to going the way Verizon has and invested heavily in LTE technology as opposed to T-Mobile's HSPA+ which leaves us MT4G users dead in the water. I have heard that AT&T was seeking to expand its current HSPA+ network but I'm not exactly sure by how much and whether it runs off of the same bands as the T-Mobile HSPA+ network since their current 3G networks are on different bands.
I am interested to see if they will change their outlook on the way they handle business. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE I MIGHT GO BACK TO SPRINT
Yeah this most likely means sprint for me.
So what's the best android phone coming out soon for Sprint?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Here is at&t trying to become a monopoly again. Most of us left at&t cause of the crap service now we are back. I can't believe it I rather have sprint actually buy T-Mobile then at&t.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
buying a GSM phone in the future...
"Welcome to T-AT&T. How may we give it to you?"
Yes, I'd like an order of 5 year contracts and a side of carrier specific manufacturers. And a medium "iPhone to T-Mobile" to drink, with extra irony.
"Great and how did you want to pay, first-born or second mortgage?"
Wow you beat me to it lol
Sent from my myTouch 4G using XDA App
Ya it's gonna be sprint or verizon for me too. I want verizon but isnt it expensive? What do you guys think? Whats better?
Well, I am absolutely not in shock. I work corporate so i had knowledge of talks..but i was under impression we were doing spectrum agreements. Not this bullsh*t. I am NOT happy as I DO work for AT&T but...I know our strictness when it comes to Data Tiering and deposit structuring, etc.
On the network side it will be an advantage as far as coverage goes..but this is bad news for pricing and customer retention..
I anticipate a customer drop the 1st 3 months this is finalized.

Yeah, I'll be one of them. Almost 100% guarantee I'm moving to Sprint. I get a 25% discount with my company anyway. I got 12% with tmobile which was still cheaper but there's no way I'm staying with at&t.

Im not on att because of the lack of freedom...drop calls, ****ty customer service. If they give us the chance to get out of our contract im off to verizon. Wonder if htc will make the pyramid for verizon haha so **** att and all thier gay messages bout ppl tethering.
They already bought it....30 minutes ago .

So not cool....
I'm surprised Sprint didn't try harder, if anyone needed a merger it was them.

So, do you think those of us with contracts will be allowed out of such contract at the time of the merger?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
lol @ everyone jumping to conclusions
calm down people...we have no idea the details of the merger...no idea how or when it will effect us...and for the most part people that already on tmobile cell and data plans will be grandfathered into whatever they have now
now...i will say im not happy with this news...i was an att customer for over 7 years way back when and i dont want to be one now...but being i just signed a 2 year contract again to get my new phones...im stuck...but im not going nuts yet until i hear what the merger means
EDIT: i just read that the deal still has to be approved by the gov't and will take up to a year for the merger to actually be fully implemented http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2382267,00.asp
Ironic that I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile so I could afford a fully featured phone with reasonable data rates...
Noooooooo FCC has to approve this hopefully it gets disapproved

[Q] worth it ?

should i wait 4 the evo 3d im using spint or go 4 the atrix?
What phone do you have now? Allthough the Atrix is an OK phone its still on AT&T so I wouldnt change carriers for that. Its my opinion Sprint has much better cust service and a better network (I know someone is going to disagree). Maybe not the best but better. I have the EVO now and I dont see how much better it could possibly get. I just think that for 500 dollars you can get a Dual core LAPTOP if thats why you are getting the phone.
I wouldnt do it just because AT&T cust service sucks. And anyone who disagrees with my statement about sprint heres my pre response. What other carrier gives new customers a 30 day FREE trial of thier network? Usually your in a contractand you have to pay your cancellation fee or something. Also for existing customers - I get a full rebate every 12 months towards a new phone as if i was a new customer. How bout it verizon?
And before you get on verizons service they use the same technology (CDMA) they roam on each other.
thanks. and i have the evo as well i agree with you so in my mind already leaning to the 3d. i was on att with the 3gs ......... hated every wasted minute with that company
then i say 3d but either way come back and let me know which one and what your experience was!
I hate to be that guy.. but i came from nextel to sprint, I will agree that there customer support is good. but the service even though sprint owns nextel or whatever is terrible in the chicago land area.
Im going with evo 3d I have evo 4g now and LG op S I played with my friends atrix and I also was told about a personal experience with the sga2 and it wasn't what I thought it would be at all nexus s no was so yea I pre ordered the 3d now waiting for a date lol

Sprint EVO 4G OR Verizon Droid Charge?

I am currently with t-mobile and looking to change carriers now that's the merger is it true. I am split between the sprint EVO 4g and the verizon samsung droid charge... They both have great coverage and both work on 4g with gingerbread, I am looking for peoples opinions on them... Root capabilities, functions, etc...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Evo 4G owner for almost a year. Evo development and support forum is "Ginormuous". However, the phone is over a year old, so there are more attractive/powerful devices in the market.
Sprint unlimited data/phone calls… nuff said! Look outside the sprint store for sprint phones. In my area, Radio Shack is selling brand new evo4g's for $50 with a new contract. Sprint is also throwing in $125 credit for switching carriers. I also get a 23% employee discount that sprint gives out to several business and larger corporations. Hope this help.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
That helps a lot!
I've seen that Sprint has better coverage than Verizon and they still have unlimited data, unlike any of the other carriers!
Hopefully I can get a discount, I work for a small Engineering firm, but my wife works for a large local credit union. I tried her email on their discount check website and it said that nothing was available, but I bet I can talk one of the sales associates into saying I work somewhere.
Thanks for the tip on shopping outside the sprint stores... I would have never thought to visit Radio Shack.
Now to try to get out of my T-mobile contract w/o paying ridiculous breaking contract fees! Any tips?
IMO Verizon has better coverage at the moment. Their LTE download speeds are unmatched in the US from my understanding. However, I'm more than satisfied with sprint's 4/3 G coverage where I live. Sprint I'm hearing will soon offer LTE coverage but when, is anysones guess. Also check the 4g coverage in your area for sprint. There are several large markets that don't have sprint's 4g.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Why leave T-Mobile if you're happy with their service?
You can get a Sensation with a 2-year contract and AT&T has to wait until your contract ends before trying to screw you.
If you are in Kansas City......Sprint is a no brainer.
I'm happy with T-mobile's services... their coverage is decent in my area, there are a few places I go throughout my city that I only get Edge coverage. Everywhere I travel I don't get service though... my moms house north of the city get's very faint Edge service, my wife's mom's town (1.5 hours away) is roaming on AT&T. My grandparents in Ohio, I have to shut my phone off as there isn't even roaming available. My relatives in Colorado, there's no service at all either.
We are starting to travel more and I would like to get decent coverage other than along the interstate.
We shall see how all this pans out. Does anyone know when the merger will take affect and towers will be shared? AT&T customers will get the added benefit of using T-mobile towers, but will T-mobile customers be allowed to use AT&T towers? Or will they restrict it and leave us with current service until we renew contracts over the next couple of years and try to get us to sign with AT&T to get the benefit of using both sets of towers?
I'm not a big fan of the merger... nor of T-mobile's laziness in sending out OS updates for phones. I like staying mostly stock on my phone except for the kernel and the ability to backup/restore. My experience with T-mobile has been good up until the last year when we've had to return 4 defective phones and realize coverage sucks!
By all means, please keep pointing out reasons I should stay with T-mobile! I would love to have someone talk me back into staying!

That's what I've heard from a few people... thanks for the input (even though you're a (g)ayhawk )
Sprint has a 30 no questions asked return policy
Verizon has a 14 day no questions policy.
I recently switched from Sprint EVO to a Verizon Charge.
I bought the EVO last year for the 4G but My personal experience has been less than stellar (Houston) Your mileage may vary.
Sense 3.0 is superior to Touchwiz but adw launchers help with that.
Stock battery lasted 5 hours on EVO on Charge it last 8 hours
Charge screen is Super AMOLED which is currently the height of android screen tech. EVO 3D has the 3D screen.
Charge has physical buttons. EVO has soft touch buttons
Charge has funny shape
Its all a matter of preference.
Try out both make sure call and data quality is acceptable in your home and places of work and play

AT&T Officially Drops $39 Billion Bid On T-Mobile

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sns-ap-us-tec-att-t-mobile,0,1859192.story?track=rss
Its officially not happening! No AT&T/T-Mobile merger in the near future
Thank God, this is a win for us consumers.
Might want to fix the title, it was actually 39 Billion, not Million
This is sad. This merger would have been so much better for everybody. There's always hope for the future, though. Maybe AT&T will have a better chance with a better president.
Great news...been celebrating since the announcement! And it's a big win for all the users who fought big corporate brother!!

Shhh!...don't give me away. I like messing with the fanboys and uptight ones. I find it humorous imagining the veins in the foreheads popping out.
I'm happy.
OMG!!!...soo sad...
That was a long waste of a process. Verizon and AT&T control 75% of the market. Sprint and T-Mobile USA are too small to survive on their own. They cannot keep pace with the capital investments of the much larger Verizon and AT&T. Sprint is struggling to build a 4G LTE network, and T-Mobile does not even have any immediate plans for one. I am hoping that some big outside investors (Dish Network, Google, etc.) come in and buy out the small carriers and make the necessary cash infusions. As a consumer, I want affordable, nation-wide mobile broadband with high (or unlimited) data caps.
T mobile is fine. Sprint however is in trouble.

Everyone keeps saying T-Mobile needs the iPhone and LTE. I'd love to have those things on T-Mobile but not at the expense of low rates. I think most T-Mobile customers will agree with me.

Customers disagree because T-Mobile continues to bleed subscribers without the iPhone. It is why Sprint is paying so heavily to finally get the iPhone this quarter.

Absolutely...the iPhone is not needed for T-Mobile to get customers. the HTC Amaze and Samsung Galaxy S2 are more than sufficient and considerably better phones than the iPhone 4S...maybe 2 years ago, T-mobile needed the iPhone, but not today. I highly doubt the iphone will save sprint or bolster their marketshare.
t-mo usa isnt fine, their owner want out of us market, so someone has to buy them now at an good price or at an fire sale later.
Iphone and lte. The iphone is not a network saving device. A lot of people would still buy the iphone out right and stay on t-mobile network. Most people jump to conclusions assume the deal would go through and left t-mobile.
Lets assume T-mobile starts pushing out windows 8 phones next year and they are as intuitive and intergrated with the desktops.
That will bring in more consumers since its a device that works with already most of your home products.
Lte as of right now t-mobile does not need Lte. The technology has not caught enough to have Lte reliable. Most Lte phones don't last more than 5-8 hrs. You shouldn't have to disconnect from 4g service to get decent battery life. Lte has often seen outages as well.
Hspa+ as for now shows that Lte is not needed. Majority of users have wifi at home. Also ping on Lte networks are either low or extremely high. Compared to t-mobile network. Higher ping the longer it takes for the web page to load.
T-mobile needs a better market strategy. Most of their good devices never have a commercial or any type of advertisement. The best bet would be to sell t-mobile to a company with a lot of spectrum like dish.

And Sprint shareholders agree that the iPhone is bad for business. I'm one of them. It's been painful.
If AT&T bought out T-mobile wouldn't that cause some kind of monopoly? At&T would control all of the market. Not to mention the prices of t-mobile would probably raise. Keep in mind AT&T was saying they'd try and keep T-mobiles price rates which i don't see happening.
