I don't know about the European version but I don't think they have a stock 2.2+ rom working on the US versions. But I'm pretty sure that you can have a stock rom on the Desire. So I would say Desire for customizing and Galaxy for hardware.

Thamks for your repli ! You have the desire or the galaxy ? Which one you prefer?

I love HTC Sense so desire 1 galaxy 0
Galaxy has easier root so 1-1
Galaxy's CPU is better in graphics (in a test i read) so 1-2
Desire has more ram 2-2
So theyre equal for me but it changes according to your prioities. So i say choose your destiny
Edit: you can disable Sense UI

Should be in Q&A but anyway.
In order for Tablet Mode you need to be running lets say CM9 or AOKP and modify the density.

[Q] Where can I find good tutorials

I want to start with rom development but don't know how to begin! I'm studying informatic ingeneering and have developed an android app so beeing curious how the system works and how to develop my own rom for DS. Thank you

Might be good to start here
http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html
Also this might help a bit but bare in mind it's for the ace (Desire HD) rather than the Saga (Desire S). But the main part is still the same.

Thank you so much! When i finish my exams i'll try it

explorer ! Is it worth buying ?

Hi all.
Its the first time I post in the pico section.
I have some questions about pico . I would like to get the responses from the pico users on XDA
1) is cm10 and cm9 for this device stable ?
2 ) any dev support for this device ? as I can see sakindia123 is left this form so I think no more dev for this device
3 ) I also prefer xperia tipo and desire c , but no dev supports to these devices is there any other devices in this range
I already wasted money by buying Samsung galaxy y I don't want to repeat that again
so please help me to buy a device with dev supports !!!!!!!!!! I am really impressed with cm10 on my dad's galaxy s
hope cm10 is stable for this device

1. cm9=very stable cm10=Good but still needs little bugfixing
2. the post above
3.tipo has fxp right? i think this would be the best choice.
4. galaxy y was really a waste of money.. it didn't have cm7/9/10 + not that good of a screen
overall i think this is a good device
If sakindia123 and oblikas left this community, it doesn't mean we don't have developers anymore, maybe there will be a new developers generation - old leaves, new comes.

Don't go for these nonsense rebranded Chinese phones
Anything can happen anytime with these phones and Rom is very unstable + no kernel sources for devs to fix bugs and compile kernel.
So this much money is also too much for these phones !

Its true that this tiny phone has nice support, on the other hand, sony is oem of the year for xda, so I believe tipo also will have nice dev support, If this was my choice definetly this is the phone for me. Missing dev support for tipo may also be explained cos it's new phone and it's a bit early. Guys you have to keep in mind that at the start, only custom rom for explorer was jaggy's(yes it was nice but was the only one), then we all was spaming in misceleanus android development section, so it's kind'a early to say that Tipo has no support.
Xperia tipo has radiation more than Sar recommended value ie. 1.6 so it is unsafe to use such phone as it can cause many disoders!

Dude it is micromax! Dont ever buy a product of Indian mobile companies cuz they are not durable. Tipo is good but has weird build and less dev support. Explorer has nice stable build but memory will restrict you from playing some cool games and it has a pretty laagy keyboard... I would recommend you to wait till the new year cuz major companies release their products around that time.. I am also planning to buy a phone in 15k budget so I will wait until a good phone is released.

Keyboard doesn't lag by the way ! Not even on stock !!
And yeah explorer has low memory but we manage with scriots like d2sd int2ext etc. And our hardware can obviously handle all majour games like nfs mw, nova 3 etc.
Micromax canvas 2 can be thought of, I bought that!
Although it is a rebranded chinese phone but build quality is nice ! Although kernel has a bug ie. Fps is locked to 30 fps .....we can break it by watching hq videos for some time...and we don't have kernel sources to fix that bug .
You may go for canavas 2 it is really nice looks like a note 2 with huge 5 inch display...but beware of that kernel bug !

Advice

Hi everyone I'm happy to say I have just purchased a nexus s and would appreciate some advice preferably with links
Firstly on rootimg and unlocking the bootloader ! Also is there a all-in-one tool. Secondly miui Roms hopefully Ginger bread based (I heard oodie is on this forum somewhere his miui prime roms is still the top on the xperia x10i two years later. Any advice is much appreciated Sent from my X10i using xda premium
> just purchased
I hope you got the phone almost for free because there is very little reason to buy a phone at these specs.
You really need two cores (they don't need to be 1.7ghz monsters) and a 1 gig (or at least 700mb~) of ram.
I payed £64 for the phone I know its not dual core but I just want a standard phone which has a good graphical gpu and still has a decent development.
I have/used to have a xperia x10i and development has slowed right down in regards to ics/jb however pound for pound the nexus packs the biggest punch! Thus the reason for the purchase
I just want miui gingerbread working and I am happy

Welcome, if you want a latest stable official MIUI 2.3.7, you can find it on my google drive.
I bought my nexus 3 months ago, it was brand new and cost ~ £200, but it was last model in my country.
I always wanted to have this phone, and I don't feel like I have to have dual core phone now. Jellybean on NS is fast as hell.
here are all most popular roms for nexus s
https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0BxlS0gt4GJLMNW1FUFVWcjRRaGs/edit?usp=sharing
happy flashing and using nexus!
My philosophy exactly!!!!
Which ROM is it exactly? I am not aware there was an official miui ROM for this device? Also what kernel if any is needed? Also is it a English ROM?
I am new here like i said i have had a xperia x10i since 2010 and i have nexus 7 16gb that is why I went for the nexus 3 the exact model is Gt-19020t I understand there is different variants/ models .
This is an exciting time for me I am glad there are like minded people on this forum I think I have made the correct decision

Best combo for me is latest 2.3.7c (there is also MIUI 2.3.7 Scotland version) with latest franco's kernel.
ROM: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B...sp=sharing&docId=0BxlS0gt4GJLMaGtPYzIzQndCNkU
Kernel: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B...sp=sharing&docId=0BxlS0gt4GJLMT0lLcm9rZnZyY0E
You can try Brainmaster MIUI also, it has included it's own kernel inside.
Search it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181050
Oh, Brainmaster's is multilanguage, official is only English/Chinese.
Does anybody have the gingerbread miui.us ROM anywhere?

you can use both, BUT READ EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON HERE! DON'T GO FLASHING YOUR PHONE UNTIL YOUR 100% 1 0 0 % SURE WHAT YOUR DOING! NO OFFENSE BUT YOU DON'T SOUND LIKE YOUR QUITE THERE. THERE ARE PEOPLE HERE WHO CAN HELP IF YOU F*CK UP, BUT THEY MAY NOT HELP YOU CUS THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE TRASHING THEIR PHONES AND EXPECTING PEOPLE TO HELP.
READ EVERYTHING ON HERE AND ONLY WHEN YOUR SURE WHAT EVERYTHING MEANS AND YOU HAVE MADE NANDROID BACKUPS THEN "MAYBE" PROCEED...
