Hi everyone I'm happy to say I have just purchased a nexus s and would appreciate some advice preferably with links
Firstly on rootimg and unlocking the bootloader ! Also is there a all-in-one tool. Secondly miui Roms hopefully Ginger bread based (I heard oodie is on this forum somewhere his miui prime roms is still the top on the xperia x10i two years later. Any advice is much appreciated Sent from my X10i using xda premium

> just purchased
I hope you got the phone almost for free because there is very little reason to buy a phone at these specs.
You really need two cores (they don't need to be 1.7ghz monsters) and a 1 gig (or at least 700mb~) of ram.

I payed £64 for the phone I know its not dual core but I just want a standard phone which has a good graphical gpu and still has a decent development.
I have/used to have a xperia x10i and development has slowed right down in regards to ics/jb however pound for pound the nexus packs the biggest punch! Thus the reason for the purchase
I just want miui gingerbread working and I am happy

Welcome, if you want a latest stable official MIUI 2.3.7, you can find it on my google drive.
I bought my nexus 3 months ago, it was brand new and cost ~ £200, but it was last model in my country.
I always wanted to have this phone, and I don't feel like I have to have dual core phone now. Jellybean on NS is fast as hell.
here are all most popular roms for nexus s

happy flashing and using nexus!

My philosophy exactly!!!!
Which ROM is it exactly? I am not aware there was an official miui ROM for this device? Also what kernel if any is needed? Also is it a English ROM?
I am new here like i said i have had a xperia x10i since 2010 and i have nexus 7 16gb that is why I went for the nexus 3 the exact model is Gt-19020t I understand there is different variants/ models .
This is an exciting time for me I am glad there are like minded people on this forum I think I have made the correct decision

Best combo for me is latest 2.3.7c (there is also MIUI 2.3.7 Scotland version) with latest franco's kernel.
ROM: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B...sp=sharing&docId=0BxlS0gt4GJLMaGtPYzIzQndCNkU
Kernel: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B...sp=sharing&docId=0BxlS0gt4GJLMT0lLcm9rZnZyY0E
You can try Brainmaster MIUI also, it has included it's own kernel inside.
Search it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181050
Oh, Brainmaster's is multilanguage, official is only English/Chinese.

Does anybody have the gingerbread miui.us ROM anywhere?

i9000 Custom Roms on i897

Is it possible to use the Galaxy S custom roms from the i9000 forum on the Captivate?
Im new to this part of XDA, seeing as I just picked up a pretty beat up captivate for 20$.
Before I get flamed or anything, Im just asking. I searched it up and went through nine pages and found no results answering my question.
IF there is a way, may you please link me to it?
Thanks.
Jhoopes517
Yes.
But u need a "Reoriented Kernel" for the firmware of the rom u want to flash...jvr, jw4 or whatever it is.
Search in the Dev forum of the Captivate. U probably will have to go back a ways.
Edit: here are some... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13043268

Yes you can , you can go with either as long as you run the proper kernel .
I9000 with I9000 , 1897 with I897
the I9000 kernel will have the home and back buttons swapped but you can install button mapper , free n the market , and reasighn them
you can also run modified JB 4 at this time , Slim Bean , X Bean so on , but you will need to install the mapper program o XBean

Because the op didn't have a cappy 3 months ago. And 3 months of time on XDA can equal to 300-400 pages of posts, or more. If he posted in the development section, then flame on. But general sections are for inquiries such as this.
This info helped me, so thanks for bringing up a 3 month old thread

Roms etc. NEWBIE

I recently purchased the galaxy s3 and am quite happy with it, put adw launcher pro made a few tweaks got the jellybean update and am satisfied with everything it does.
My question is what is the need for flashing new Roms or rooting the device? What is the purpose and benefits?
I'm new to all of this and would love some briefing!

These questions have been asked before so I highly recommend you search for it.
Google will love to tell you everything she knows about it.
I root mine and flash ROMs to have access to FULL customization.
I keep it rooted before the battery life and features not available on stock.
(Ink lock screen, multi window, over clocked CPU. Note 2 apps.)
I mean the list is endless.
No doubt you will find some you enjoy as well.

FYI we don't like to answer these questions as there is a guide for it. The guide is located in the Android development section. Also in that section is a guide to rooting the recent OTA.

Rom for daily using

Hello,
My GF have Jlo, and she want to have fast and smooth phone good for daily using. I can't test all roms, becuase i haven't this phone for all day.
This is reason why i create this thread, which rom you recommend
Sigh. Comparing ROMs isn't allowed on XDA. All developer work hard to supply us with great ROM s, tools, etc.
Read the comments.
Small tip: Cyanogenmod has never let me down
Success.

I typed a good reply, then I noticed you didn't even tell us anything about your tablet. It varies based on the model number. Even between devices with the same screen size some ROMs will be made for it and others won't. So it's hard to say what to do when we don't even know that much!

ZTE Z740 Radiant

Are their any Kkat or Lolipops custom roms available for my phone?
Sent from my Z740 using XDA Free mobile app
I used this phone as a daily driver for around 8 months and, despite lots of searching, was never able to find a custom ROM.
Considering it is a rather unpopular phone, I doubt there are many developers working on ROMs for it.
Ouh shet
Really?
I bought today this phone of second hand because I broked my Jiayu F1 with only 6 Roms and now i ear that this phone had no ROMs..
xD xD "So funny"...
I miss my small HTC pico..
