Controlling phone from computer? ie. Making calls? - Captivate General

Cracked my screen, I see I can buy a new screen easy enough and replace it. The problem is I don't know if anything else is broke, I ask because now my phone doesn't recieve calls, it just goes straight to voice mail. But it still seems to work when I plug it into my computer, It recognizes it and I can use the side loader to install apps on it.
Is there anyway I can make a call from my computer through it to see if it is still working, or is there a way to emulate the screen on my computer.
Or any other suggestions on how I could check other fuctions of the phone to see if I just need to replace the screen?

never mind, just figured it out, I just had to search other forums.

That program is awesome! And my phone wasnt recieving calls because it entered airplane mode somehow!

Charging on laptop - phone made calls by itself

My touch screen stopped working yesterday and Ive been trying little fixes here and there to make my phone easier to use. I charge my phone through my usb on my laptop and I woke up this morning and saw my phone made 8 calls throughout the night to multiple people. How did this happen??? I woke up and saw my contacts were open which seems like that something on the touch screen interface works somewhere, just not to the touch. What the hell can I do to stop this besides turning on airplane mode?
Have you hard reset your phone? maybe even try to flash a new rom? maybe jsut something became corrupted....
If I hard reset it without being able to use the touch screen after will i be able to get in the phone?
Maybe you have an exotic thing for winmo in your device - a virus?...
It only happens when my phone is plugged into my laptop.
So it only happens when its cradled, its not right, I agree with the above, sounds like you have a virus, format SD and flash different rom.
I have never heard of this happening by accident, either you have some sticky keys or something is kicking in and dialling people, unless your home network is seriously being abused and your phone is being hacked via the laptop (highly unlikely) but all the same, I wouldn’t rule it out.
Hope you get it sorted...

black/blank screen touch pro, please help D:

Hello, thankyou everyone who takes the time to read this and to help. My HTC Touch Pro, the screen is completely black, it turns on and I can recieve calls and I know the keyboard works, but I cant even tell who it is or what I'm typing since the screen is blacklight and won't show anything. It powers on and off and charges and i can hear the sounds so I think its just a problem with the screen.
I've tried MyMobiler and Pocket Controller, but both cant work for me because I first need to connect to Activesynce or Windows Mobile Device Center, but I can't even see the password I'm typing so I can't unlock the phone to view it on my computer (( so I can't get it to connect to activesync or WMDC.
I really wish it was'nt locked with a password because then everything would be easier I'm so upset by this DDD:
I can't hard reset either because I can't see the screen at all.
Should I try to open it up and replace the screen&digitizer myself? I really don't want to try spending extra money fooling around with the phone if I'm not sure it'll work.
What I'd really love to know, does anybody know how to view the phones screen on the computer without having to unlock the password first from the phone? If anyone can help me with that or find some other method than I'd realyREALLYReallyyyy appreciate that sooo much. I could just type the password from the computer or hard reset and everything.
Or if theres any other method of fixing this that would help too...
Also, I can't take it to Sprint store because its out of warranty/insurance, so
I'm just trying to repair it myself. I've heard of this happening to people before but have'nt ever seen it get fixed.
Again, THANKYOU to anyone thats reads or tries to help !
Have you tried "Hard-Resetting" using the 3 Key Combo? (Hardware Mode)
Or were you trying with the "Clear Data" option? (Software Mode)
I had this when I went snowboarding with my Touch Pro. Turns out slamming the slider shut quite hard fixed the problem.
Hope it helps.

Black Screen - control NON ROOTED android through PC

I am using an HTC Vivid on AT&T that is NOT ROOTED, I fell on my phone and now my screen comes up black (think I broke the LCD). I can still receive calls and I believe messages as my green message light blinks. I need to know if there is a product that will let me view/control the android phone screen on my PC without having to install anything on the phone itself as I can't see anything on the screen so I can backup my SMS messages, apps, etc... before moving to my new phone. Most of the threads I have read point to solutions for ROOTED phones which don't help me.
thanks!
Probably (but probably not worth the trouble)

So if you connect the phone by usb, it's probably asking you if you want to allow it to be mounted on the PC, but you have no way to answer, right? Similarly, no way to get it into adb mode. So those are out.
Even with the screen dead, you should be able to get the phone into fastboot mode (check the forums for the Vivid to find out how, probably involves holding the volume buttons for a while while you reboot). If you then install fastboot on your pc, you should be able to download the whole content of the ROM. Then with some reasonable effort, you should be able to untangle everything and read your messages. It can probably be done under windows, but would be a hell of a lot easier under linux, and it will require linux/android skills/understanding (even under windows). Even with those skills, it's probably going to take a day or so. Without them, far longer (or you could hire a CS student with the right skills for a day, I guess). And on the other hand, if your phone was synched, you're probably going to get a fair bit of it back when you connect the new phone. So is it worth the effort?
Our new app, VMLite VNC Server, should help you to deal with this special situation.
It works on non-rooted devices, basically what you can do is to install the apk from USB connection, and run our desktop program, VMLite Android App Controller to start and stop the app.
This way, you should be able to control and view your phone from a pc.

broken screen (black) how do i unlock my phone

hello, my friend has dropped her phone and now the screen is black and i dont know if the touch still works, she wants me to get her photos off the phone but it needs to be unlocked so the pc can see the files,
what options have i got to retrieve the files? ive tried one of the programs but you need to turn on debugging which obviously i cant do with out seeing the screen, which was frustrating after there great advertising!
thanks for any help
my friend has remembered her gmail details that the phone is connected too, does this help? i can install apps to the phone using my pc but dont know how this helps me?
If i can get usb debugging turned on somehow then getting the files off would be easy, is there an app or something that can do this remotely?
Im guessing not as nothings coming up with a search :?

Backup with no screen, no usb debug, no internet

Hi guys,
So... my Oneplus 6T got wet. The screen and loud speaker did not enjoy it, they are full off.
(TL;DR) How to know if the phone was reseted in RMA, while I have no screen, no speaker, and no adb?(/TL;DR)
The story:
I use my phone as a USB stick at work, and I backup often... Some files are very important to me and not yet backed up (I did not have much time between the storing of the files and the accident...)
I sent my phone to RMA last month right after that accident. It came back from RMA not repaired but it has probably been opened (small pieces of glue around the screen).
Here is the point after it came back:
I know the phone turns on normally, I can even use screen off gestures, and turn it off (1-sec press on the power button, then touch the power off square on the screen because I know where it stands)
My screen is 100% off
adb won't connect (anyway I have never activated the USB debug)
Wifi does not seem to connect to my box
I can make a call, so the network is here when SIM is in
Google "Find my phone" says it's offline even after I've let the SIM in for 3 hours
My paired BT headphones don't connect
So, I assume they factory reseted the phone...
However, the alarm clock still rings in the morning! Is that possible after a reset in RMA? Or is it a sign that I might have not lost everything?
Well, but... how could I check if my phone is indeed reseted or not, please? For sure.
And then, any idea on how to access the internal memory? I tried many things already, even controlling the phone screen off. With no success yet
Thank you!
