Desire
yesterday i wanted to get a battery status bar for my desire just like the picture below

}
found a thread here that explain how to get it
Super Circle Battery with % |Version A-I & Z (Custom)| Desire 2.2 ROM
Problem
However i found out that i am un-able to use it because the requirments for installing (what i have been told in the thread) is that your device has to be
1. Rooted
2. Have different ROM than the stock ROM
personally i find it very inconvenient to root & flash a new ROM just to get this battery circular percentage (thats all i want, I am pretty satisfied with the stock FROYO 2.2)
Solution
I have modified an APK, used an existing programming logic (Battery Indicator - Open Source Project) but with different presentation.
the APK can be installed to your Desire (and probably other android phones without any problems) and it will show you what you want in the notification bar, just like in the screenshot below
Advantages
- You will not need to root your device (this APP will not change any system files in the framework-res.apk)
- You will not need to install different ROM
- Small size APK, you can just download, install and enjoy
Disclaimer
I have tested this APP on my Desire with stock FROYO 2.2 without any problems I have not tested it on any other device.
The App does not alter any system files, worst case scenario you will get FC. but just to be on the safe side, install on your own risk
wold appreciate any feedbacks

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To answer some of the questions
- the Circular Battery Indicator does not use a lot of battery resources, the device broadcasts a message when the battery status changes, the app catches this broadcast and update itself to show the right percentage, it is as simple as that, so it is extremely light weight on the CPU.
-It is impossible to remove/hide the original battery icon on the status bar without root privileges, and if you have root you dont need this app, chances are you already found away to alter the original/stock battery icon to match your desire (check first post for the link on how to change stock battery icon if you have root).
-I am considering uploading this to the market, to reach a bigger market and making the updating process easier, dont have lots of time to do this now, but i am surly considering it
-for all the people who are interested in the control switch more than the app itself Lol ... its called "SwitchPro" widget
Enjoy

I like this idea for non-rooted users. Nice work!
Anyone have any ideas for hiding the original one? (without needing root preferably since obviously with root you could install this as a morph/flash).

that could be tricky, since altering any default component in the bar requires system privilege (i.e. root)

read the whole post I used Battery Indicator (Open Source Project) as a base and gave the owner credits (Darshan Computing)
My bad, the first link that i downloaded was definately Battry indicator, but i've just tried it now and got it working on my Wildfire. Thanks again.

Ahaa i guess because wildwfire is using mdpi so it took old icons, not hdpi, first version i developed was for hdpi only, but now both have same icons
how is the graphics in your wildfire (app graphics) are they choppy or anything?
offtopic: how to get that bar with flight mode, vibration, 3g, bluetooth etc. buttons? I have that too but there's only like 4 different buttons.
looks awesome! i'm gonna try and see how it works for me
Works very well over here, thanks for sharing.
Sent from my rooted X10i using tapatalk preparing to go out to watch soccer....
Tested on Vodafone 845, works perfectly.
The circular indicator looks a bit pixelated though. Perhaps it has something to do with the screen resolution?
Anyway, great app!
I can't see the % number (in white) clearly in my Nexus One (status bar is in white).
I have the same problem as kwankl, except I can't see the number at all. Is it possible to have a version with black numbers?
Thx

where did you get that power control widget with all the extra stuff on it?
Anyone have any comments on how battery intensive this battery monitor is? Most of the other widgets or notification apps I've tried seem to have a serious impact on battery life. Quick Battery is probably my favorite so far and seems to drain the least juice. I like this one's look much better, so I hope it doesn't chew battery.
BTW, display icon looks great on an EVO. Text is clear and readable too.

Well well, seeing how I'm getting to making battery replacement icons, I figured I would make a thread listing all of my projects. (betas, full's, tests, random ones too )
***ALWAYS DO A NAND BACKUP BEFORE ANY MODIFICATIONS, its just common sense. I am not responsible for any damage to your phone***
**REMINDER** All these are for use with MetaMorph app which you can easily grab from the Market. Don't forget to grab the donation version as well to thank the dev for making such a great, and easy to use program!
**NEW**
Thanks a million to barnacles10 for providing the framework that bypasses the so called "animation frame cap" on the Sense ROMs. Now I will be able to provide multi-animation icons for enjoyment!
First things first, to use any of the high-frame icons, you MUST download this framework. Just flash it via- recovery console. ::
- batterymodv1b
Once downloaded, you can now use any icons highlighted in RED using MetaMorph. If you use one without the latest framework, you will get bootloops. AGAIN do a Nand backup before doing this, so if any problems occur, or if you decide to go back to the original framework, you can do so. THIS ALSO WILL WIPE ANY OF YOUR CURRENT THEME / ICONS!
Thank you. ^_^

I believe I understand what your saying. You would like to switch the color of the % number freely when you feel like it? If thats the case, thats why i posted the 2 different versions, for Sense (dark task bar) and AOSP (white task bar). You need to use MetaMorph app from the market to install these. Makes it very simple instead of booting into recovery all the time. Hopefully that answers your question, if not, let me know.
Also, thanks much for the donation! Extremely appreciate it.
i don't want to replace the taskbar all i want to do is use different icons. if you look at this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7172320&postcount=1 you can see they have different styles for the icons

This package is a mixture of Super Circle Battery and Smooth Sense Icons. I am not the original author of these mods, full credit goes to the respected authors! I am however the creator of Smooth Circle Battery. For bugs or suggestions, please consult the original thread(s). Please save this thread for comments pertaining to this remix!
Original thread: Smooth Sense Icons
Original thread: Super Circle Battery
Smooth Circle Battery is just a remix of Super Circle Battery. It is smooth scrolling for those that prefer it over the 'block' style.
Requires a deodexed ROM!
I have created six versions of this package:
Blue version:

*Update 8/10*
For those who mix their own mods, here are the files you should copy into your mod for just the Smooth Circle Battery:
framework-res.apk/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery.xml
framework-res.apk/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery_charge.xml
framework-res.apk/res/drawable/zzz_stat_sys_battery_1.xml
framework-res.apk/res/drawable/battery_charge_fill.xml
framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi-v4/stat_sys_battery_0.png (0 through 100)
framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi-v4/stat_sys_battery_charge_anim0.png (0 through 33)
framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi-v4/stat_sys_battery_unknown.png
That should be all of them, I think...
*Update 8/12*
New red version
*Update 8/27*
This mod works on the new 8/26 Froyo leak (MUST BE DEODEXED!), but does not contain the same images as the leak! This affects a great deal of the GUI, such as the lockscreen and buttons. I am trying to find a way to port these icons to the new framework, and will open a new thread when I have!
Tested and confirmed on: SkyRaider 2.2 Vanilla & Sense; Second Wave
Remember: Always nandroid before applying any mod!
This worked brilliantly, thank you soooo much!!
thanks, looks good
Glad you like it! I just updated it to be smooth scrolling. Its now one sexy beast!
those look nice man great job...
does this have transparent shade as well..?
I'm working on trying to roll the super circle icons into my own theme and need to know what files, besides the battery icon pngs, need to be changed to make it work. Thanks!
Using Adrenyline's Evo port rom and, while this did add the scrolling icons and circular battery meter, the battery meter was a bit messed up. While charging, it would always show 98, then 99, then full. When unplugged, it showed some random headphone-looking icon and not the battery meter.
Can this be rebuilt into the stock framework-res.apk?
Hi everyone -- I was just wondering if it's possible for someone to rebuild these great smooth scrolling battery icons into the standard framework-res.apk that comes with the Froyo leak.
I noticed that the framework-res.apk in this mod is structured differently than the stock file, which makes it a little confusing to theme further.
I'd do it myself, but I have no idea how to correctly recompile the necessary XML files so they're pointing to the right graphics...
Just an idea...
I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question...
Do you need to be rooted in order to try this mod?

Are both of these supposed to be blue? Could you maybe make a regular green one?
My apologies in advance as well, but I tried searching the forum and google and didn't really find anything but to install this mod, do you just place the zip file on the root of your sd card and then do the install zip from sdcard in the recovery mode? (I am new to all of this and just barely finished rooting and installing sky raider 2.2)

I think the remixed one changes color as the battery charge goes down. Not entirely sure about this, though. I'm at 90% now, and it's still blue.
EDIT: Confirmed, green begins at 79%.
Yeah both of them are blue someone wanna make a green version? lol the blue doesn't really go with my theme but it looks smooth.. green would be perfect.
is there any way we can get that battery ported for the original droid? i dont know if it would be hard or not, but its great. the theme also looks pretty amazing, but im not on the DI.
Works great. Thanks for merging the 2.
How odd, I thought my battery life was going in the ****ter, as I'd go from 100% green to 90% blue (even after a battery recalibration). Steady 1%-increment counts down to about 84%, so I checked the on-phone meter under Settings and found that it was at 96%. Sure enough, go out and download a battery widget, it shows 96%. Went in, rebooted twice (first reboot had the wrong SD card in it ), flashed the original post #54 green-yellow-red battery, rebooted once more and all is back working accurately.
Just wanted to give the play-by-play in case anyone else seemed to be experiencing any inconsistencies since flashing the mashup.
edit: re-flashing the smooth scroll + smooth circle allowed it to now reflect the proper battery usage. Sitting steady @ 92%
i too experienced some issue with it dropping to 90% instantly after unplugging power. reflashing mod fixed it for me.
i dont know if i merged both of these things right, im still trying to get into it! but i will go ahead and release a green version in the next few days
So to kill time I figured I'd try my luck with the UOT kitchen and add battery % to the stock battery icon in the status bar. It works!
I have the 4.0.0.9 recovery from Modaco and I also installed Paul's de-odexed version of the stock ROM. Several users have now confirmed that it works fine on the 100% stock rooted ROM without any problems.
Here's an example of what it looks like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here's exactly what I did to install:
1. Download file
2. Reboot into Recovery
3. Clear cache/dalvik
4. Install zip from sd card
5. Select BatteryPercentage.zip
6. Wait for install to complete
7. Reboot device, it may take a little longer...
And here's the file:
http://www.multiupload.com/EHS4XDF43J
I also added battery % to the debloated ROM undeadk9 posted in the dev section. It looks just like the battery % posted above. Here's the link:
http://www.multiupload.com/X160AIVR6Z[/
I created a new theme in UOT kitchen that's b&w much like the theme pmcqueen created but a little simpler, with battery %, status bar mods, and pop-up window/slider bar mods. I left off flying window animations because I wanted to keep this a bit more stockish; also, I kept getting errors trying to flash pmcqueen's theme so I made my own...
pics:
Here's the file link for the theme!

P.S. I suppose it goes without saying that you need to be rooted...

I'm not sure. There are 100 images for battery and several images for charging. Then there's installation scripts and what not and Framework mods. I couldn't say it draws power but there's obviously some sort of constant communication (as there was before, too.) My battery life hasn't been affected at all today, so I'm not worried about it.

all this mod does is give you a modified systemui.apk and framework-res.apk and packages them into an installable zip that replaces the apks already on your phone.
if you open up the zip, you'll find systemui.apk and frameworkres.apk (which have been modified by the UOT kitchen), which is why the zip is 4.x MB. it's replacing entire apks, not just the battery images themselves.
gracias! I uploaded the systemUI and framework apks into the UOT kitchen and it must have rewritten them with the modified images and voila!
Very happy progress - not having battery % as a number up in my status bar is a pain in the ass.
Glad someone is dumping time into this, it was on my list but all the other work i'm doing with this phone has been keeping me from it.
I'm not running the de-odexed ROM, so i'm gonna hold off on this at the moment, but i'm (again) very happy to see someone working on this. (unless you think it'll work on the stock rom?)
Thank ya. no problems. Glad to have this.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! - Wish i'd seen that when you posted it, or I would have installed this a long time ago.
I couldn't resist, it only took a few hours after I downloaded before I couldn't hold off any longer.
Fantastic work, no-nonsense exactly what I wanted. Shows me the numerical percentage of battery capacity inside my battery icon on the status bar. Still shows the lightning bolt when charging.
Numerical display is accurate compared to all the apps I that I had on the phone that told me this, and now I dropped a widget from one of my desktops that was hanging around just to show me the percentage as a number - something I couldn't find anywhere else on the phone. (WTF HTC)
So I can now confirm this will work on stock/rooted ROM, no issues. Thanks unclespoon!
You're welcome! It was a fun learning experience for me, too. The UOT kitchen has always felt a little overwhelming to me, but now I feel much more comfortable with how it works and am more willing to play around with stuff! I'd do more, but for now battery % was all I really wanted.

Hahaha you're welcome! Also, I updated the OP with a new, more inclusive pic along with information that it has been confirmed to work 100% A-OK with the stock ROM!
tried it with stock rom and it works, thanks. Unrelatd question, how much space did you save by going with paul's stock deoxed rom? I have uninstalled a lot (majority) of things using Titanium explroer, but am simply too lazy to go back for the odexs.
Thanks
Now the onlyh thing left to do is find a way to remove recent and the t-mobile sign.

Thanks! I made another one that's all b&w with overscroll, highlights, and a few other things. I kept it pretty simple though to just keep it stock-ish with a black & white theme. I can upload pics if you want but it's pretty similar to the one pmcqueen posted, but for some reason his didn't flash correctly on mine so I made my own.
Here's the file:

Flashing is the same as the OP link. This just has more stuff and is monochromatic. I like it! It's fun to keep changing things up!

it has the features of the MOD version but you don't have to mess around with modding your system files.
it uses a persistent service and overlays the battery bar on the top or bottom of the screen.
Android Police were Kind Enough to Feature it on there Blog
As Was 4Tablet PC (Russian)
More on Android HDBlog (Italian)
and others but i have been a bit slack in updating the list.
This is my Blog for news and what not...

I have the Battery Bar Pro, latest version from the Play market (v2.0).
I have the option checked to hide the battery bar when the statusbar is hidden (for full screen apps). I am fairly certain this worked a week or two ago when I first upgraded to the Pro version.
However this no longer works. No matter what I do with that option (checked or unchecked) the bar always shows when the statusbar hides.
Phone: Motorola Triumph
Android: 4.0.4 / CM9 alpha 0.6.11.0
Battery Bar Pro version: 2.0
Not sure if this helps or not, but I have the Height set to 2. If I rotate the phone in a fullscreen game, I noticed the bar height changes to 1! Sure enough, if I use 1 as my height then when the phone is rotated it hides the bar properly. It still won't hide in portrait mode though.
I do not have the free version installed.

thx for the confirmation on the dual install, i'll look into it.
pvy, any chance on ever adding multicolored battery bar? Like at 100%... it would show green, orange, and red colors at once instead of just green? It would make things more colorful and interesting also a bit of nostalgia for the old Windows Mobile 5 battery bar app. Sorry, I know I have asked this before but not sure if the idea got passed or forgotten or what Eitherway, great work guy!

Seems the latest update (a little while ago) doesn't hide the bar in landscape even if the option is checked for hiding bar when top bar is hidden
Running ics samsung rom
SGS2
Ps any updates coming in the near future?

Perfect
it's looks good...
I will try in my phone...
Thx bro
Is there any difference in battery/cpu resources used between the mod and the app? On the one hand, I already have a crapload of apps and don't wanna add another unless I have to so I'd like to use the mod. On the other hand, I'm lazy when it comes to doing mods like this, so I'd prefer the app. Then again, having another service running sounds like it would consume (some) additional resources so again, I prefer the mod. On the final hand, I'm extremely unlucky when it comes to doing mods like this, so I prefer the app...
I have no idea what's going on...
:thumbup::beer:
Edit: nvm, looks like the app has more features. Free version worked as advertised, getting the paid version, nice work here! Keep it up!
Is there anyway you could maybe add a % left somewhere in the drag down ?

Any chance of getting this app looked at?
also a slight feature request:
could you add a slight 'glow' to the end of the bar (a bit like ICS download staus bar)

This thread is for custom battery icons for the G2 that are installed with the Xposed Framework.
I have installed several from the thread found here and found that the size, alignment or color is incorrect for the G2 status bar.
I started with #7 Circleblue from that thread and resized it for the G2 as well as changed it to white to match the rest of the statusbar icons..
I am not a developer, just someone with access to photoshop for batch actions, so my abilities are extremely limited. I can do some resizing/color changing, but that's pretty much it at this point. I am open to modifying/creating some custom icons as long as they are within my abilities.
All files are listed below in post #2 with a preview of each version.
Credit:
dr.ketan for compiling the original thread of battery icons
dully79 for his original battery icons and tutorial
Instructions:
-Install Xposed framework
-Disconnect from charger
-Install the battery .apk you choose
-Open Xposed Installer App
-Select the installed battery module you like
-Reboot
-Test to see if icon sticks when connecting charger
-If icon doesnt stick on first reboot, disconnect from charger and reboot (not hotboot) again. Not sure why, but sometimes they need the extra reboot.
Known Issues:
May not work with Gravity Box, or other XPosed modules that effect statusbar.
Not sticking on initial reboot after activating the module. Try another reboot.
Modules are only tested on a Verizon G2 running Malladus ROM.

On these, I've noticed that on the first reboot after installing, the icon will totally disappear as soon as phone is in charge mode. Rebooting again seems to solve the issue. I've been running these for a few days now without issue.
SenseTube -
(Resized to center in status bar, fixed a few transparency issues)

Hey, thanks, I've been looking for this the last few days, since the original didn't work. Haven't managed to get your mod to work yet though, when I rebooted nothing was changed for me

Do you have xposed installed, and the module activated?
Did not work for me either...
Anyone get it to work?
I just uninstalled, re-downloaded and it seems to work fine on my end. Not sure if it matters, but I'm on a Verizon device running Malladus 1.2.1
Any chance you guys used another module to remove the stock battery icon and that is why the new icon isn't showing up?

You sir are correct, this module does not work with gravitybox. I did not have the battery disabled in gravitybox either.
I spent a few hours tonight getting my machine setup to compile/decompile and I think i now have the ability to do some minor editing of the xml files.
The app names should now be correct when installed. The attachment to the original post has been updated to reflect this.
There is already a stand-alone white circle battery module available which I'm currently running on my Verizon G2 without any issues. I just can't remember where I got it. Once I find the link I'll post it...
How do you guys get white icons (4.4 style) ?
I'm using Xposed module XThemeEngine + theme "KitKat for LG G2" (from G2 Themes and Apps forum), but it's not compatible with this circle battery mod...
And I'd like to get both, as the default stock (blue) icons are quite ugly...
Thanks !

Thanks for this, now I have the green circle battery. My favorite
Added/Tested a few more. More to come as I have time.
thanks for making this xposed module. i wasnt able to get the blue circle battery one working. here is a screenshot of what it looks like on my at&t g2. i do not have any other battery mods enabled.
EDIT: i see what's going on. the mod only works when the phone is charging. when the phone is charging you get what is in the 2nd screen shot. when it isnt charging you get what's in the first screen shot. is there any way for the mod to work also when the phone isnt charging?

Try rebooting again (not hot boot) and see if it resolves the issue. I have seen some of the battery modules take an extra reboot to stick for some reason. This is what I mentioned under the white circle mod that is possibly unstable.

both of those battery mods do the same thing. they work when my g2 is plugged in charging but when i unplug it the battery goes back to stock icon. there might be 2 sections of the smali code. 1 deals with charging and the other deals with not charging. if only the charging part of the code got altered then that would be why the mods arent working when not charging.
