Hello,
I'm hoping one of you will be able to help me. I've seen several profile switchers that change based on your location. Unfortunately they do not seem to work in Sprint's CDMA network. Does anyone know of a windows mobile program that will, or will use my build in GPS? I have a HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks in advance.
Bruce
i don't know of a profile changer based on GPS.
all profile managers i know of are based on Cell ID...
That's what I've seen too. Do you know of any that will work on the Sprint network?
I'm not familiar with how all networks work, but as long as they support cell id there's no reason why it shouldn't.
Hi all,
I use the DR2 Global outside USA, in Europe and have some problem concerned with the USSD commands.
there are some important codes such as : #100* to check balance, #135* to buy some extra megabytes and #115* to take some extra talking time in credit.
When I enter a code the USSD code is running infinitely.
Do you have a same problem?
P.S.
There is no problem with the signal strength and network coverage, but the signal indicator is always at one point.
The phones software is run on verizon so the USSD codes will only recognize vzw codes such as #pmt and #data

Is there any way to fix these issues unofficially?
I also found that youtube app doesn't work on wi-fi.
i am in europe and have the same problem. i had a verizon touch pro2 before this, and it worked fine. not being able to check balance is a pain.
is there some way to get this to work? maybe via rooting the phone?
since it worked on the touch pro2, there must be a way to get it to work with this. as a global phone, these things should work.
By going through the manual & comparing it to the EU version I've compiled a list of things tmous has changed on the phone. (in case anyone was interested)
Removed:
Quick Lookup - ability to select something & choose lookup through Google, Wikipedia, etc
Show Me app
Ebook reader completely missing even though HTC widget is still there
Voice Recorder
Voice Dialer
Dock settings
Locations
The Device Setup on first boot is missing things
Added:
Wifi calling (Tmobile's UMA feature)
I wonder why Tmobile removed all of these?
Here is a Voice Recorder app in the market that someone recommended since ours is missing:

Did they keep Locations? And the quick look up thing is actually useful...dumb.

Ran into the voicerecorder bs.
Is there anyway to add any of those features back in or are they hard built into the rom?

What do you mean by "wifi calling"? is it calling via wifi using SIP provider?
If so, we do have it on our Vodafone UK branded units.
If it's something else, please explain.
well I guess it's good I havn't waited for the 4G to come and pre-ordered the British version.. just one thing, the WiFi Calling looks good.. (first time with Android and HTC xD) is there any way to get it in the UK Sensation Z710e ?

T-Mobile is a pretty cool system. When you're at home (or on a WiFi network that doesn't do much filtering), phone calls, SMS, and MMS inbound or outbound route through WiFi instead of the cellular network. I've noticed this has the benefit of improving battery life while on WiFi, as it turns off the WCDMA (3G/4G) radio. It actually seems like it might turn off the cellular radio completely, I'll have to check when I get home.
The one downside is that if you are on the phone and walk away from your WiFi network, it will drop the call. It can't hand off.
I'm not sure if this is common in Europe, but in the states, many wireless carriers offer femtocell units that users can install in their home if they have bad reception. WiFi calling eliminates the need for that.
Wifi calling will notify you of a mms but it will not download the message. At least that's my experience with the G2x.

ah sorry was just going off what I've been told regarding MMS. I actually don't use SMS or MMS, I use google voice for "SMS" purposes and don't have any use for MMS (if someone wants to send me a photo they just email it).
I have an unbranded phone from HK but also have Show Me and Locations. (Maybe the other stuff too - didn't check).

I think it shuts off the radio as well. My buddy had it turned on by accident & was freaking out because he was on wifi & showed no signal bars.

A similar feature to the TMOUS "wifi calling" is offered in the UK by BT Mobile. They call it BT Fusion.
Fem2cell is available here from Vodafone, known as Sure Signal

Good call, I'm gonna need wifi calling at the very least before I'll hop over to an alternate ROM (who am I kidding I'm sure I won't be able to resist). The my account app is handy but it's in the market anyway (there was an update a day or two ago).
When you say Dock Settings is there a separate App/Icon for the EU version or are the settings completely gone from withing the Settings Menu?

Hi All,
Does anyone have Wifi Hotspot working on ICS for Orange UK?
When lauching the APP, the Icon appears in the top indicating now active but does not show the 3G in it....subsequently the PC / Laptop does get an ip address from the phone, but no internet pass through.
Looking at the APN the "ConsumerBroadband" APN is locked and cannot edit to add the username and password to allow it to work....
Does anyone know how to fix this or if anyone has it working and could post how they got it working for Orange UK on ICS?
I have tried both the Funzy and Insertcoin and both have the same issue where its locked. If i revert back to a 2.3.5 version it works fine......
Regards

Can't answer you sorry.

MOD - Can the post be moved to Q and A?
I have the same problem. Have tried LeeDriod, Elegancia & AR HD ICS ROMs.
No one yet has an answer
There must be a system file that contains the APN info that can be edited?
Looks like it's back to GB until some Guru can help.
Can some please help?
Many Thanks
Wifi hotspot orange apn locked
Im having the same issue, can't get the wifi hotspot to work on my stock ics sensation xe. I'm on orange as well and also have a locked out consumer broadband Apn.
Does anyone have a solution yet?
Chambers net
Htc sensation xe with Stock ICS
Worked.... for Me
Ignore the locked APN and try the following
Create a New APN
Set the following (with capitals but no "")
Name "Consumer Broadband"
APN "orangeinternet"
Username "Orange"
Password "Multimedia"
Authentication "CHAP"
Save and test
It did the job for me
Enjoy.
Works on HTC One S
Just tried the above on my other halfs one S which is also locked. Worked like a charm!
Sadly this fix doesn't seem to work for me on my sensation xe with ics :-(
I've created the APN as stated, when I fire up the hotspot and connect to it I still don't get any Internet to pass through.

The only trouble I had in getting wifi tethering to work was the adhoc setting, had to use a beta of Wifi Tether before my partners gingerbread pad would connect.
No problems with using Orange data connection, I've never touched the APN settings either.
On ICS with virtuous inquisition 4.0.1

I've just come across this threading after having the same issues.
I got mine to work a similar way to mikutzu but all I did was edit the current orange Internet and add the username to Orange and password as Multimedia (with capitals at beginning) and then add ,dun to the end of the apn type so in the end it reads default, hipri, dun
And then save. This worked for me straight away. Hope this helps!!
ICS (Orange SK) - Wifi Hotspot not working
Hi there,
I have official ICS (Orange SK) and when I launch Wifi hotspot I see hotspot network but can't connect with my laptop. I tried add new apn, but it didn't helped, then I tried edit "orange internet" apn, but it didn't helped too.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Has anyone successfully used T-Mobile video calling on an US versioned Unlocked u11?
I recently purchased an HTC u11 life as a gift (T-mobile branded) and noticed it had a video icon embedded into the phone dialer for other T-Mobile users. However my U11 unlocked does not have that dialer. Although VoLTE is checked and available, I also searched in the test menu (#4636) and noticed that Video Calling is grayed out and wont toggle over. Is there a T-Mobile software apk that anyone knows of that would embed the function into the dialer? Would I have to S-Off to be able to provision Video calling? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's being worked on. Not as easy as adding a apk though.
Thanks, is there a way to toggle Video Calling provisions on, will I have to S-off to do that?
