Camera 360 has been my favorite. The pro version has a few more features than the free, but I'm happy with the free. Used black and white setting.

No, I don't mean for actually taking photos. I have a DSLR for that.

Ah, I see now. You mean apps that assist in photography. I guess I read it wrong. If you meant a camera app, you probably would have titled it, "camera app." Haven't come across anything as of yet, but will shoot it this direction when I do. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Cam Calc is fairly useful..

Although I think it could use some usability and efficiency work.

Photoshop does that pretty well. I don't know why you'd need it on your phone since 1) you can't really do exposure bracketing with the built-in camera and 2) it is very CPU-intensive. It takes my quad-core about a minute to HDR a 12.1MP image with 3 shots.

Do you have a link to that on AppBrain or something? I just get a bunch of horrible translation apps when searching the Market.

As a very keen amateur have subscribed to this thread.

Don't really know what kind of apps you're looking for, but I found GoldenPic (I know it's on Android, but I don't know about iPhone) that shows you the golden hour, blue hour, sunrise, sunset, etc. It seems to work good and I took some great golden hour photos this past weekend (if I don't mind saying so myself)

it looks like they just have Android for now. I found the website here:
goldenpic.jebsapps.com

You also have 'Photography Trainer'.
It's a Paid App $1.99
To Quote from AppBrain:-
This app guides you step-by-step how to set your D-SLR to take the perfect shot. Capture amazing photos by truly understanding shutter speed, aperture & ISO. Dozens of sample photos, photography tips and tutorials. Night photography, sports, landscapes, portraits, HDR & more.
It's well loved with practically ALL comments getting 5 Stars.

Anyone here try that 'Photography Trainer' app? I wish they had a free version available to try out first.

It's very good. I just got it, and it is really good especially if you are totally new to DSLR photography. It gives you an intuitive flow of conditions and then gives details based on each level. I.E. Night time -> moving object -> fireworks.

Thanks guys...I think the MT4G camera has gotten a bad rap from Internet reviews. Yes it's not the market leader but it's not as bad as they portray it to be.

Ditto on being the best camera, but I haven't had too many issues with noticeable compression artifacts from the stock app. I might have to take a second pass on the pics with the bigger display at home.

Can you guys also post up if these are using stock cams, or camera 360, etc. and post up your settings. These pics you guys are putting up are stunning
camera 360 is nice. can't post my pictures yet though
I've taken a few pics of the same scene with the stock app and then Camera 360 (with max resolution/least compression), loaded them up on a computer to compare. For me, the Cam360 pics look only very slightly better than the stock app. I really can't even tell the difference in quality unless I zoom in a bit, and even then the difference seems rather slight.
Has anyone else taken photos of the exact same scene with both the stock and an alternative app to directly compare the difference?

Anyone notice the flash has green hue at the edges? Makes night pictures terrible.
Comparing side-by-side with my soon-to-be-on-eBay Evo, Inspire's flashes have decidedly green/teal hue.
Hoping it's just my Inspire's LED flashes.

You can try or upload someplace like flickr as well (the phone has this option built into the Gallery app)
The ones I uploaded was from a computer not the phone, so Im not sure if you are able to upload in such a way via the phone however.

same here... i think the camera isn't all that good honestly. The iPhone 4's camera blows this one away
My experience is that the flash is awful with any significant ambient light
Im sure with certain advanced settings within the phone the photo quality can get better.
Also the focus can be manually changed, on my photos like I mentioned there was absolutely no light in the room.
At the end of the day if you want the best quality photos, its time to invest in a top of the line point and shoot camera.
a picture i took a few days ago. it seems like it focus' nicely but when you take a picture no matter how still you hold it you get a blurry picture.
Deadly combo indeed.

Guys, this thread also made me ask you all one question - do you have any good replacement app for stock Samsung camera? I moved to AOSP Asylum ROM and I'm loving every bit of it, apart from the camera app, which just sucks. Tried Camera Zoom FX and three more, but none seems to be as good as the stock one from Samsung - it makes me very sad, since this may be the only reason for returning to TW-based roms, which I want to avoid. As you can see with my pictures, our Notes can perform brilliantly when taking makro shots - for that I need "touch-to-focus", which works for me only on Samsung stock camera app.. Damn it!

[APP] Xpaper - Wallpapers to Match Your MotoMaker Moto X

My latest Android app has been published. It's an app aimed at Moto X owners who have custom colored (Wood included) devices from MotoMaker. It supplies those users with wallpapers that match their devices custom color. As a Moto X owner, myself, I found this to be very difficult to do. Therefore, I made this app to ease everyone's troubles, including mine. The app is available on the Google Play Store for 99 cents.
Please try it out and leave feedback!

I spent a lot of time on it, and am continuing to spend a lot of time crafting the wallpapers. If a useful app like this isn't worth a dollar to you, then that's fine.
(sorry if that comes off as mean, it's not meant to be )
How would I know if it's useful to me if all I have to go by are the screen shots and no trial available.

OK, so gave it a whirl and like it, good job. One suggestion for improvement: instead of immediately setting a wallpaper, show it full-screen first.
Good app. But you should still consider a trial version with watermarked wallpapers

[Q] Camera Performance

Hey, M8 owners. I'm a note 3 owner looking at the M8. I came from the M7 but sold it mostly due to the camera performance and lack of expandable storage. The latter has been addressed and from I've read the camera has improved as well. However, I wanted to get the opinions of actual owners about the quality of photos taken with the M8. I'm especially interested in hearing opinions from those that frequently photograph their kids. So, please chime in with your experience.
TIA!

I came from the Note 3 and really the only thing that I miss is the camera. While the M8 camera has some cool gimmicks, the note 3 really took great photos. That said, the build quality and everything else about the phone I love - even with a smaller screen. I haven't looked back and the camera is sufficient enough for everyday use.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. It's a little discouraging, but I think I'll hit up a Verizon store with my daughter tomorrow and do some thorough testing of the camera. It sounds like some of the auto settings are less than ideal but that a few manual adjustments can really improve performance.

Cool, thanks. Looks good. I played with the M8 today. My daughter wasn't up to going to Verizon with me, but I think I got a good feel for the camera. Shutter speeds are fast and shot to shot tines were impressive. By no means am I a highly skilled photographer, I just want to be able to capture decent shots of my kids. I think I'll try to pick one up and give it a go. Thanks everyone for the feedback.
