Your kitty has vanity issues

Anyone notice the flash has green hue at the edges? Makes night pictures terrible.
Comparing side-by-side with my soon-to-be-on-eBay Evo, Inspire's flashes have decidedly green/teal hue.
Hoping it's just my Inspire's LED flashes.

Xda always shrinks the quality... Any way to add full size images via phone? I guess upload to Picasa then attach from there instead?

You can try or upload someplace like flickr as well (the phone has this option built into the Gallery app)
The ones I uploaded was from a computer not the phone, so Im not sure if you are able to upload in such a way via the phone however.

same here... i think the camera isn't all that good honestly. The iPhone 4's camera blows this one away

My experience is that the flash is awful with any significant ambient light

Im sure with certain advanced settings within the phone the photo quality can get better.
Also the focus can be manually changed, on my photos like I mentioned there was absolutely no light in the room.
At the end of the day if you want the best quality photos, its time to invest in a top of the line point and shoot camera.

a picture i took a few days ago. it seems like it focus' nicely but when you take a picture no matter how still you hold it you get a blurry picture.

Deadly combo indeed.

I took these just now....

Camera 360 has been my favorite. The pro version has a few more features than the free, but I'm happy with the free. Used black and white setting.

Ah, I see now. You mean apps that assist in photography. I guess I read it wrong. If you meant a camera app, you probably would have titled it, "camera app." Haven't come across anything as of yet, but will shoot it this direction when I do. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Cam Calc is fairly useful..

Photoshop does that pretty well. I don't know why you'd need it on your phone since 1) you can't really do exposure bracketing with the built-in camera and 2) it is very CPU-intensive. It takes my quad-core about a minute to HDR a 12.1MP image with 3 shots.

As a very keen amateur have subscribed to this thread.
Don't really know what kind of apps you're looking for, but I found GoldenPic (I know it's on Android, but I don't know about iPhone) that shows you the golden hour, blue hour, sunrise, sunset, etc. It seems to work good and I took some great golden hour photos this past weekend (if I don't mind saying so myself)
it looks like they just have Android for now. I found the website here:
goldenpic.jebsapps.com
You also have 'Photography Trainer'.
It's a Paid App $1.99
To Quote from AppBrain:-
This app guides you step-by-step how to set your D-SLR to take the perfect shot. Capture amazing photos by truly understanding shutter speed, aperture & ISO. Dozens of sample photos, photography tips and tutorials. Night photography, sports, landscapes, portraits, HDR & more.
It's well loved with practically ALL comments getting 5 Stars.
Anyone here try that 'Photography Trainer' app? I wish they had a free version available to try out first.

It's very good. I just got it, and it is really good especially if you are totally new to DSLR photography. It gives you an intuitive flow of conditions and then gives details based on each level. I.E. Night time -> moving object -> fireworks.

Ditto on being the best camera, but I haven't had too many issues with noticeable compression artifacts from the stock app. I might have to take a second pass on the pics with the bigger display at home.

Can you guys also post up if these are using stock cams, or camera 360, etc. and post up your settings. These pics you guys are putting up are stunning
camera 360 is nice. can't post my pictures yet though
I've taken a few pics of the same scene with the stock app and then Camera 360 (with max resolution/least compression), loaded them up on a computer to compare. For me, the Cam360 pics look only very slightly better than the stock app. I really can't even tell the difference in quality unless I zoom in a bit, and even then the difference seems rather slight.
Has anyone else taken photos of the exact same scene with both the stock and an alternative app to directly compare the difference?

These are my pics. Just trying out the capitvate I borrowed from my cousin, running cog 4.1.1. For some reason macro shots are good, however other than that, pictures look horrible with little detail and lots of noise. But hey, may be the rom or what not, hard to believe macro focus can produce good stills whilst auto focus or face produce horrible stills. No scenes or effects in them, simply sharpness and saturation +1.
I just noticed the macro shots are all better in this thread too,
i was just about to say ive been un-impressed with the 5.0 MP cam.
I noticed this before custom roms as well, with updated cam firmware, so custom roms are not an issue, but i am going to play around with macros now....
@tru
So you see it too. o.o
My HD2 can produce good still shots with auto focus, but when it comes to macro, the captivate out performs it. Both in that it knows how to correctly focus and it has a lot more detail.
I refuse to believe the captivate is only good with macro shots.
Some good ones I liked.

I've generally had good results with the cappy's camera myself, but as mentioned, the macro mode is probably the best this camera gets. They have an HDR simulator in the Camera 360 app, but I never have that much luck with it; too much noise.
can you clearify what you mean by macro mode? so im not assuming. I notice the panorama shots look better, is that one of the macros you are talking about? on my cappy its called shooting modes not macros!
i think bulletproofs first pic is the best but none are GOOD! (no offence mine isnt better)

Macro mode is used for taking close pictures, like of food, flowers, leaves etc. What you do is press the gear icon, and then focus mode. It will be set to autofocus by default, but you can set it to macro for close pictures.

Green, Red, and Blue dots all over my camera, what is this?

For the psst couple of days now, I've noticed some extremely bothersome green red and blue dots all over the screen when the camera is open. They look almost like stuck pixels, the green being an entire cluster of said stuck pixels. When pictures and videos are taken, the dots end up in the pictures and videos as well. What is this? This js royally pissing me off and making me sad, I use my camera a lot
Attatched is an image taken by the camera showing the burned up pixels. The green should be easiest to notice, the blue and red are a lot harder to see especially if XDA mobile doesn't upload images at its original quality.

For some reason I think the green, blue and red dots are nothing but camera noise and this only happens when you use the camera at night time
I have the same issue and I must admit it is very annoying
Also you said the colors pixels get carried onto videos and picture and I would say this is normal the only way you can get rid of this is by having a good lightning in the room
But for some reason the sensation still show a lot of camera noise even in good lightning

New Google Camera Sucks

Hi everyone,
The title is pretty clear. And I want the old one back. I want to be able to take pictures during video. I want to be able to change white balance. I want to be able to change scene mode. The lens blur is absolute poo. It straight up sucks. I know the real time picture ratio isn't right on the old one, but it just looks better with the added space. Is there any way to get back my old, functional camera back? Thanks in advance for any answers.

How could you NOT know how to uninstall updates. Should give the new update a chance, I agree that the massive are at the bottom isn't ideal but once you've messed around with the settings etc I personally think its better. And I'm pretty sure you can take a PIC whilst recording by tapping on the screen, don't quote me on that though.

None of the massive area in the bottom is part of the photo anyway so how is it less than ideal? At least now we can see what the photo will look like before we take it. No more accidentally missing part of the shot cause the screen shows more picture than photo.
