can someone please sticky the 3 roms and kernels?
Probably not a good idea - it will be a sticky mess once we are up to 10 roms and 8 kernels. A better idea might be to write a single post that lists/summarizes available roms/kernels. There are stickies like that in other device development forums and it works well and only adds one sticky.

We could move them out of development and put ROMs and kernels into their own sub-forum.

I don't know if you guys have ever used development forums for other well maintained and strongly represented devices on XDA, but the development forum is for ROMs and Kernels. So moving ROMs and Kernels out doesn't make any sense.
Usually what happens as far as having a quickly accessible list of ROMs and Kernels, instead of stickying them, There is one thread made which contains links to each of the ROM threads and that thread is updated as new ROMs and Kernels are made.
The biggest issue right now is that there are too many threads (including this one ) that simply don't belong in this forum. I don't know who the mods for this forum are, but I'm hoping that they will become more active in enforcing the sub-forum content rules.
If you guys want a look at how a well-run and maintained device development sub-forum should be, checkout the hero forums here at XDA. They weren't always great, but they've gotten to a great place.
Our phone is also very young in the community cycle, so I'm things will get better as the goes on and more people get this phone.

I wasn't suggesting moving them out of development. I was suggesting a sub-forum within development for finished ROM's and kernels. The regular dev threads that focus on individual features(root scripts, brightness tweaks, VooDoo, over-clocking, etc) would stay where they are.

Wouldn't they still need to be in the development forum..since most are a works in progress ? I could see having a sticky with links and screen shots of them but they would have to be locked down otherwise they would get cluttered up with all of the questions being asked about them..

yes locked down or something cause they are freaking cluttered now.
I'll bump it now. Guy tried to put together a sticky like this, but never got stickied.

But where would the feedback go though... and all those "how do i turn on my phone so i can install this rom" questions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835928
im trying to gather resources to make a website devoted to presenting ROM's in a easy to use way. check it out. thanks
so ive been pondering on this all day and this is my conclusion:
how about the development section actually being a developement section, and all "what modem should i use?" or "will this work the the i900 kernal?" or the "when is the updated version coming out?" could go in the q&a section where they belong, what we need are more mods that are a little more active in moving threads and deleting unnecessary posts out of the development section, can you imaging how much more smooth our devs could work if they didnt have to sort through 20 posts to find one that might help them with the actually development.
oh and one more thing, that captivate bible thing, that was an excellent idea, would have done a lot of great things and helped many people, but no one goes through and updates it, what a waste :/
I found this a while back. I found out quite a-bit about our phones from it...Seems to me since this is already up and running..maybe the owner wouldn't mind adding a section for custom Roms and maybe the themes as well ? Wouldn't hurt to ask them anyway..I did just a few minutes ago
Mac
The easiest way is to look for the threads Labled {Rom}? This has been brought up over and over again. It tried a few times but never went anywhere as most at to busy to keep the roms on more then one website. As for the questions being asked they belong in the thread for the rom they use and not in Q&A.
I think he was talking about all the other questions in the development section. What Im talking about is something like just roms in a section, if u want to ask questions or talk about rom fine but be only under that rom thread, U would have a Section Clean of all kinds of post and other development stuff, Have a certain format for titles in the rom section, where it would be uniform. I know there still under development but it would be clean, and easy to find.
I like this idea. It should be formatted sort of like DG's thread. All questions goes on that thread for development and on the first page the links would point to the ROM section where people can download the roms they need look at screen shots.
Currently we have dozens of ROMs and new ones are coming every day. I believe it would be easier for a single forum for the posting of ROMs and then the android development forum for developing them. This would make it easier for find ROMs etc.
I you agree please vote.
not needed imho
I'll second the "not needed" as well.

The Android Development forum is not really that hard to navigate.
This has been brought up over and over again. Trust me you would find it a whole lot harder to go to one thread to get the rom and after you find an issue with it have to go to another thread to post about said issue just to find it is already known. When you can get the rom and read up on any issues in the same thread.
I am gonna close this up now.
Seriously, can we clean this **** up?
Guides/How to's: fine
Roms: dumb
Good Luck.
You want to volunteer?
While Venelar lacks tact, I do kinda agree.
Why are roms stickied in this subforum? This isn't behavior I see in other subforums.
If I'm browsing on my gtablet, it requires scrolling through a couple screens of things that haven't been updated in a while to get to a lot of the new posts.
Would people want a stickied thread that has links to all the roms and kernels currently in development? I'd probably be willing to help with that.
I moderate elsewhere, wouldn't be a big deal imo. Anyway, lack of tact aside it is out of control in this section of the board. I've seen complaints on a few threads about it and when the preferred method of viewing this particular forum is through the "buggy at best" xda app (so that stickies are on another tab) from the tablet i think that says a lot.
some guide consolidation/and unsticking rom threads would work wonders to spruce the place up a bit.
You might want to take it up with TheImpaler747. Wouldn't this be something for the moderators to iron out?
Not trying to be aloof - I actually agree with you and had asked for the same, about 2 weeks back.
Maybe guides and how-to's can get their own sub-forum. We have many stickied guids/how-tos/faqs in the g-tab general, and now there is the new gTab q+a.
Maybe put all guides/how-tos/faqs/things that are sticky in their own sub-forum (aka gTab info) and then have q+a, development, and app talk. Seems like that would cover the breakdown of topics a little better.
Also, seriously, who sends a complaint about the number of stickies. Weak.
Development is where Roms belong not pissing and moaning about stickied threads.

Agreed. And posting this thread in the very forum you're complaining about doesn't help matters - it just perpetuates it.
This process of stickying threads that are tried and true and helpful, etc. is followed in many other forums.
As to guides/how-tos... DEFINITE good idea. Just need someone to do it instead of us mods who are swamped as it is.
Thanks.
I think the links should stay about the same if you move everything though, so that's good, lol.

The how-to's would be great in the "Q&A" forum so people can read those first in hopes they'll read them and possibly get their question answered before posting another thread.
Why not create an all encompassing "G-Tablet Bible" Thread that includes links to how-to's, roms, guides, and other helpful info. Lots of forums implement this method of organization. If the EVO forum can stay clean, this should be able to as well.
Seems like you already have a couple of volunteers that would do it, now it's just a matter of making it, getting it stickied, and erasing the other stickies.
I thought the development sub forum was where developers gathered to exchange hacks and fixes for ROMs. I would of though ROMs ready for play would have their own sub thread... I had requested this as well a week or so back. It is a bit messy. I dont see any reason to bash a guy who is asking for something that would benefit everyone. If we cant play nice together in the benefit of making a better G Tab then i suggest we all return them! It aint a good product without the support of a good community. Just my 2 cents.

I started a thread over in the development section with a listing of most of the ROMS and Kernels that were stickied and plan on finishing it after I get home from work. Hopefully this will help in the organization of forums as I couldn't agree more on how unorganized it looks with so many stickies.

been working on this for awhile and looking at different ways to sort stuff. Look for some new changes coming....
Hello everyone.
That's my issue may not be the right place, but this is where I find the most relevant, since for this section.
I think for some time the number of threads are increasing enormously for new ROM, which is fine because it shows that the community is very active) but many of the Roma are found to be the same base or from ports of other devices, and there are so many with names that look alike or have nothing to do with the content (I will not name to avoid any controversy and stay in a general term) that we end by not knowing what exactly that is.
So I think it should be revamped a little with all that can be sub-sections by Dev ports or Roma, ways to try to eclaicir section and avoid ending up finally with questions about a thread that has nothing to do with this thread Rom.
That's what I feel for a very short time and I think it would be good for both dev and users of éclaicir things.
When do you think??
Arma, a user begins to consider warning from the time I practice android flash device.
This makes little to no sense, so can't really reply. Think youre essentially saying that maybe devs combine their different ROM releases into single threads?

Or subforums? So the DHD Dev subforum has a couple more subforums within it (one for ported ROMs, one for ROMS built on a native base)? That's how I read it anyway.
Sorry for my bad english (google translation), but yes I think it would be although it is organized by several sub-forums, for example, the ports of other phones, stock rom, rom MluI, or do that every dev its own sub-forums, and finally they are ideas, see what might appeal without being overly burdensome for devs who already have enough to do.
If someone else with ideas on how to build the threads?
The discussion is now open.
I think people would over see things and it would be a mess then a dev gets a new device and his sub forum is left behind and annoy like sticky threads

sub forms like : Sense Development, MIUI Development and Ported roms development would be super cool and better than just one single development section.
It takes me a roughly 15-20 mins just to find a thread here lol

Agreed. Either that, or we need someone to keep an updated sticky again. But a "Utilities" section, for radios, RILs, and recoveries would be a good idea also.

I just got CM7 mod on my phone and I'm loving it. However I'm curious to know an easy way to find other mods out there for the Inspire. I've seen mentions on this forum of others but it's hard to sort through what's what so I'm looking more for a definite listing of what's out there for other mods. Thx.

What do you mean "mod"? As in like a theme? or like APM and transparency mods? Since this is a development site, it is expected that you do some research on your own. There are plenty of CM threads out there that can point you in the right direction, don't be lazy, reading is fundamental!
I meant to say ROMs not mods. Is there a list of available ROMs for Inspire?

Again, I must stress to you that reading is fundamental, I get it that you're new to the site (my observation based upon your post count) and welcome! I hope this starts off what should be a mission to educate yourself. Again, this is a dev site where everyone assumes and expects you did the proper research before asking a question. The so called rom list you speak of, exists in the Dev section in one of the stickies. I don't think it's as up to date as it should be but that isn't a dig at the mods. The real list lies in the collection of threads in the dev section. Start reading.
edit: please don't ask here or in a new thread "what is the best rom" or "what's the difference between x and y" these questions will result in numerous members yelling the same thing at you..."ONLY YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IS BEST, TRY THEM OUT"
