Captivate in PCMag's Top10 Best Touchscreen Phones - Captivate General

Just so happened to find this on my morning web browse. It's not really surprising that 3 of Samsung's Galaxy S phones and 2 other Samsung phones made the list.

Which phone?

Within a month i can choose a new phone. Any tips? Now have galaxy s1. What will it be? Samsung sony htc????
Grtz from Holland
Depends on a lot of factors. Which carrier are you on (unless you're planning to switch, in which case, which carrier will you be on)? Do you want a keyboard or is touchscreen enough?
After that, you need to consider the size, processor, display, and likelihood of upgrades if that is important to you.
You'd probably do well to go into the store and test drive a few phones for a little while and see what you like.

One thing to consider is what phones will be coming out on your carrier over the next few months. It may be worth it to wait to use your upgrade.
The carrier you're on is definitely one of the most important factors. I remember when people broke contracts for hundreds of dollars just to get their hands on the first iPhone...
it really depends on what you want it to do. Do you want raw power, customizability, developer support? For raw power i'd wait to see if the rumored htc zeta will show up, doubtful about the specs though:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/15/htc-zeta-rendered-rumored-to-pack-2-5ghz-quad-core-cpu-and-ice/
For customizability and developer support i'd look for something that everyone would have like the galaxy nexus
With the Galaxy Note the time has come to stop thinking mobile phone and start thinking mobile tablet. The Note is the mobile tablet you can carry everywhere like a mobile phone yet use like a tablet. The large screen is able to use Desktop view for Web browsing rather than mobile phone view and it is the perfect size for a Satnav. Reading eBooks on the Note screen is a breeze too with no need to zoom to read the text and you get a lot of text on each screen page. Once you have a Note you will find there is no need for a larger tablet because of the high resolution screen which is as good as most laptops.
i Recommend samsung
my advice or galaxy 2 or new model note nice phone
Samsung Galaxy Nexus...
I spent a lot on it, but i'm not disapointed so far!
It's great!
But, i can't compare with ohter android phones at all, since my previous one was a windows mobile 6.5 one xD
Hehehe..
But the GN.. is hot... and beauty!!
I would say Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Nexus.....both are awesome phones
.

HTC - nice design,
Samsung - advanced hardware.

Good choices. Galaxy s2 is a great phone.
samsung galaxy s 2 gt9100 perfect phone...i am using that phone and i can only change it for galaxy s3
samung galaxy S2 rullz
in a month SGS3 might be available. It will be top notch and highly supported=faster updates.
The Galaxy Nexus would be a great choice since it has ICS and doesn't include a lot of Samsungs bloatware.
But again it depends on your choice for carrier.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

I heard this from a friend and I want to make sure that this information is correct. Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 coming out soon? if so when and where can I find this info so I can read it for my self?
I also have the Original Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 (WiFi) and I am running 4.0.4 and I am wanting to know if and when 4.1.2 or Jelly Bean will be officially released for the Original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I do not want to root or download a Non Official rom to my tab.
I do not know about Galaxy Tab 3. But I do know that the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 is not included in the list of devices Samsung plan to update to Jelly Bean. So ICS 4.0.4 is the last update you are getting. If you want Jelly Bean, however, you will have to root your tab and install custom rom. I also use the original tab and in addition to ICS I also run 4.1.2 and the current Jelly Bean 4.2.2, both courtesy of an XDA Developer, Pershoot.

(Deleted. I misread the thread.)
There was some mentioning a couple of weeks back that this GT-P8200 got its BT certification and meanwhile also the WIFI one http://www.tabletblog.de/2013/03/samsung-galaxy-tab-3-plus-wlan/
They even claimed it could become announced together with the Galaxy S IV
lets see whether and when it appears - still thinking of to sonys xperia Tablet Z or the Asus TF700 as an alternative (with the latter being a bit rusty)
hopefully soon

I have no inside information about a pending release of a Tab 3, or anything else for that matter, but I noticed something interesting at the AT&T store yesterday. They have a special going on right now if you buy a Samsung S3 phone for $199, (with a contract), you can also purchase a Tab 2 10.1, (with a SIM card) for an additional $199. Not a bad deal if you want a Tab 2. I am sure that the S3 will enjoy a big price cut as soon as the S4 hits the stores, however.
We all know that the S3 will soon be replaced by the S4 and retailers are probably looking for ways to clear out the existing inventory. The same might be going on with the Tab 2. This could be an indication that the Tab 3 is on the way as well. Time will tell.
almost a month later and still no news on a new 10' flagship tablet from Samsung. The same old news get recycled every now and then but nothing tangible.
Hopefully after the launch of the S4 we start hearing real "new" news about a octo core powered retina all sing all dance tablet that is available in the not too distant future
don't want to wait till x-mas ...

I was hoping to hear something similar by now, too... my guess (hope) was that details would start to slip out about a new uber-powered GTab and a possible release date when the S4 was ready - but the lack of noise makes me wonder if a Nexus 10 is in my near future instead. The 16 and 32GB versions are in stock... wait a couple more weeks for some news, or 2 days for a new toy from Google on my doorstep... decisions, decisions.
galaxy note = galaxy tab + stylus???

Looks like they're basically just updating the look of the Tab 2 7" to match the Galaxy lineup hardware design. Almost identical specs to last year's model. And no mention of a 10" model.
I have the Tab 2 7" and don't want a much bigger device (although I could live with 8".) But I was at least hoping for a resolution bump. Hopefully the Nexus 7.7 rumors will pan out.
Is it me or are the specs for the Galaxy Tab 3 super underwhelming. Dual core 1.2 ghz? Thats what I have my 1st gen galaxy tab running at lol.
i bought an att samsung galaxy tab 10.1 sgh i497 yesterday and im dissapointed that it doesnt have built in phone and messaging, there is a mod on this forum for the older model which i forget the model number they listed but its 3g, the one i have is LTE , i hope someone develops a phone mod for this i really wanted it to be a phablet

Here is what you are looking for
well at least the Samsung galaxy tab 3 7 inch has been released and it is a little less wide than the tab 2. micro usb charger is nice and aluminum bumpers, other than that everything has already been said.
I am curious when developers will post their findings as I am not pleased with the stock rom. Wifi kicks out after being idle.
SM-T210R is the model number
Here are some pics with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1!
Am I missing something or is it basically the same tablet we have but with a different processor and IR blaster?

I have not had that issue with my 3 but if I hold it at any corner except the upper left my WiFi dies so dead center or upper left any where else grip of death.

[Q] Why?

I was browsing the page for best smartphones to buy this year, and everywhere the first position is given to iPhone 5, even when Samsung galaxy s4 is not out yet, it occupies second position after iPhone 5, similarly in any other page I check rating iPhone 5 even though it is limited and less powerful than some others, it IS the FIRST, WHY?
Probably because you're looking at a limited sample based on data and opinion for year to date.

There is no way to rank the criteria with data, so it can only be based on opinion.

Because rating is not done by a respresentative sample and furthermore it is purely subjective and basically iOS concentrates on making the interface fast as possible and with the quickest response time which most not tech-savvy people define as "ZOMG ITS FAST SO ITS BEST PERFORMANCE!!!1ONE".
Search phones you're interested in on gsm arena, look at the detailed specifications there and read some reviews, not simply ratings.
Happy shopping
My advice to you is avoiding jumping into the fanboy bandwagons as either Apple nor Android fanboys are good.
If you haven't experienced with either one before,
+ spend some times in the stores such AT&T or Best Buy and play around with both iPhone and Android smart phones to get used to it
+ try to look for the features that you want and see which one gives you an edge.
+ do search the online comparison which is unbiased. If you read post that blindly claims "Android is far better" or "iPhone is just simply best" then ignore it since it's not a true review.
+ worst, if you can't come down to the decision, get you a smart phone, either one, iPhone or Android and give it a try for a year or two then switch, pls take note what you like best and worst using that phone. You are the only one able to find the BEST for you, not anyone else.
Note: phone with ton of features, unused features isn't a good phone either.

Truthfully, Apple products are amazing. Their market is full of fantastic apps created by talented developers. If you use a mac pc or laptop, have an iPad or iPod, they seamlessly integrate. However, I prefer Android because I love to customize my phone, and I enjoy an open source platform. So, nutshell, is iPhone 5 the best phone out there? My answer is it is one of the best. It's definitely nicer looking than most droid phones, but it's just a matter of preference!

[Q] Which one to buy, Note 2, or Note 3 Neo

Hi,
I'm planning to upgrade my phone. I have narrowed it down to Note 3 Neo and Note 2.
Both have almost similar specifications hardware wise. I'm fixated to these two devices mainly because of the S-Pen.
The price for both the phones is almost similar.
Can anyone guide which one is better amongst the two? I assumed Note 3 Neo will be better (New, hence better ). But, after doing some research, I found about the Knox and its limitations. I'm the type of the person who will root their device the first thing straight out of box.
Which one amongst the two will be better for keeping custom roms, like CM? I think Note 2, having large user base will have more support as compared to Note 3 Neo.
Can anyone shed any light on this? I have 1-2 week to decide.
P.S: A duplicate thread is also posted in Galaxy Note 3 Neo Forum. I forgot there must be a general section.

You could refer to the device suggestion thread, which is on xda. Just make a search before you post anything. Anyways, I'm not raging at you. I'd say the note 2, because it may be a bit weaker and older, but it still has great support, since Samsung has released official kitkat upgrade for it, and its processor is a bit faster in terms of frequency.
I sagest the note 2. But saying that I just got a note 2 and just rooted it.

I'm confuse

Why Samsung has released so many phones all together ?? Now, how I know the best. I like the S6, and I'm doing a little thought. How do I know that after a month a new model comes out better than the Galaxy S6 ??!
What in the world are you talking about. Samsung releases 2 flagships a year. Galaxy S series and Galaxy Notes. This is this 5th year that it's going to happen. Everything else is mid-tier.
It's been this way a long time, not sure how you're even confused..
