I went ahead and upgraded to Cognition 2.2-Beta3. The system is screaming (Quadrant score of 1950) and so far pretty much everything is working well.
The only issue that I have so far is that the zoom does not zeem to be working on the camera. When I click the volume Up/Down keys, the camera software shows the zoom level being adjusted, but the camera itself does not zoom.
Has anyone else seen this? Any fixes?
Just checked and zoom works just fine for me.

I think I maybe have a bad (hardware) rear camera, but wanted to know if anyone else has run into the below:
Tried to use bar code scanner and Google shopper scanner in not very bright room last night. Screen was almost black in both cases.
I then tried the Camera - rather dark when viewing the full room. Ditto with Camera 360 - which I also had on my MT4G. Checked settings (which should no affect the scanner apps) and nothing would improve it. Note - I was on eagles 1.0.3, so this was not the original camera app.
Tried the front facing camera - huge difference - light gain produced normal pictures.
I restored a near stock froyo backup, and the original camera was better (plus you can adjust light gain), but other three apps pretty much the same - dark.
I tried MT4G with same scanner apps - all worked fine in the same room.
Again - I am now starting to think it is the hardware. Will go into local TMo store (where I have handled demo's) and check it side-by-side.
Has anyone else run into this??
I'm on the 7/13/12 nightly and the camera STILL has issues? It looks VERY blurry until you actually hit the shot button where it focuses and such. Is anyone else having this issue? I need to use Camera ZOOM FX to get a decent camera that you can actually see with before you take a shot.
Hi all,
Has anyone noticed this? When you use the camera app on the Mi 4i in Performance mode, it runs a lot slower than it runs on Balanced mode. I have noticed that everything else works much faster and smoother in the Performance mode, but only the camera app lags. If you switch to Balanced mode, you will notice that the camera works perfectly without lags. It should be the other way round!
Just FYI, when I say 'LAG', I am referring to the time required to switch from rear camera to front camera, switching to gallery, HDR shooting etc.
Can anyone else check and let me know if this is happening?

yes, you are correct. There is lag when switching front to back camera and turning HDR on and off during performance mode. But, this seems like a Software issue (the camera is very sluggish anyways), so there might a future update from Xiaomi for a fix. Remember, MIUI 6 is still very new and still has some issues (RAM management, etc.), so I wouldnt worry too much about it.
cheers!
Anyone else facing this issue? After recent mini 11.0.9 update, camera is not able to focus. In CIT test, vice back camera works fine but main back camera is blurred. Tried camera app data reset.
Has anyone else also noticed photos come out with weird, massively boosted brightness and everything when taken with 2x zoom or higher on stock camera? Strange thing is even at 1.9x zoom everything is fine but 2x and beyond the photo is basically ruined because of this. Very annoying.
HDR and other enhancements are turned off, yet this occurs.
Doesn't happen on GCam. Any idea/solutions? Thanks
Tried here. No issue. And 2x zoom photo from stock cam was better than GCam 8.3 for me.
Didi you activate HDR and IA options in stock cam?
Yes they're all deactivated. No problem upto 1.9x zoom, but as soon as 2x zoom is engaged, there's a sudden although small change on viewfinder white balance. And final photos look extremely bright and noisy compared to 1.9x and below, as if some weird filter is put on. I've downgraded the camera but still happens.
Btw, bootloader is unlocked, not sure if that's got anything to do with it.
Its interesting if you don't have this problem. What's ur software channel and build number? Thanks
Without this bug, you'll generally get better zoomed images on stock camera because it'll use 64mp crop instead of only 16mp recognized by GCam. But this bug ruins it.
Unzoomed though, GCam's HDR+ is still the best.
Just discovered this thread.
Yes, I have the same problem. But it looks like the effect is not the same everytime. Maybe depending on light (indoors vs. outdoors)?
I noticed it happens when i zoom in in worse scenes. It could be that the automatic camera mode is overcompensating by cranking the iso way too high. Have you tried using the pro camera mode?

Yes, but I don't think pro mode uses 64mp crop like auto mode, just a crop of 16mp, which doesn't have much detail that's required during zoom. Also it's annoying trying to switch to pro mode everytime.
