[KERNEL] HTC Desire - Froyo MR - 2.6.32 kernel source code - Desire Android Development

Great news: It seams that HTC finally released the source code for the Desire Froyo kernel at developer.htc.com

i think we also need the source code for the Desire HD as well

At last, now we can start some serious tweaking

Heeeell yeah! Its time to handle with some bigger stuff

Can someone please explain to me (quite a noob) what the main advantages of having the HTC source code are? In layman's terms. I know there are really great roms out there, so what will this source code offer? And will it also concern the AOSP roms? Thanks!!

Challenge set by htc: HTC Sense 3.0

Just read this over at engadget http://m.engadget.com/default/artic...and-new/&category=classic&icid=eng_latest_art
I'm sure the devs here will get it working on our current handsets.
The challenge is on.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA Premium App
HTC Sense 3.0 should run on headsets with 1GHz with no problem, although I dont use the Sense UI because the 2.0+ Sense uses a lot of space on the screen.I guess we'll have to wait and see how the 3.0 makes a test run
I believe it will work. At least some parts of it.
There sure will be a few developers out here who will try it.
We have toe wait and see what the future will bring.
But I'm still curious how it will run on our HD2 and Desire HD's etc....
I think even though hTC have left us in the dark, the devs here will obviously port this to all devices that meet the minimum requirements. I mean the Desire, still doesnt have Sense 2.0 unless you root your device.
Looking forward to see what the talented devs can pull off.
Guess they've underestimated the power of XDA dev's ! we have devices made for win 6.5 running five different OS'es which HTC never even thought were possible. I think its time HTC woke from there dream and smell the grass
I think it will be ported over to other devices! The developers over here at XDA are great! Before the HTC HD2 got Android unofficially thanks to the developers on here, people were saying the same thing "Oh it can't be done, it will never work" and what happened....it got Android running smooth as a baby's butt! Then there was the whole Sense 2.0 can't be ported over to the HTC EVO.....guess what baby?!...IT DID! So with that said, I hope a lot of people keep on doubting the abilities of the developers over here at XDA because I believe that only gives them more motivation to get things done!
Oh and I wasn't replying to anyone specifically in this thread, I was just saying in general because I briefly talked about this with two of my buddies and YEAH they were like NO WAY....CAN'T BE DONE....and I'm sure alot of people that aren't members of XDA and/or haven't seen these developers in action, think just like that!
I can't wait to have Sense 3.0 running on my EVO and on my HTC HD2!!!!

Just a matter of time.. So may things has already been ported for devices they were never ment for.. (eg. HTC Sense is seen running on Sony Ericsson X10 Mini)
So it will be just a matter of time for combining the right drivers with Sense 3 before we see it on Legend, Wildfire and so on...
Maybe I'm not good eniugh in English
But I don't meant to have read something about the Desire HD/Inspire
Does it work on these devices?

Personally (and I'm not a device dev), I think an extremely large problem will be the fact that if Sense 3.0 is only limited to the Sensation / Flyer / 3D, all its textures are meant for qHD / whatever the Flyer runs at.
I'm sure that's an additional task that's going to take some work, in addition to the drivers...

The flyer is only single core and is clocked at 1ghz and will be running sense 3.0. With that in mind there is no reason why it wouldn't work and we can all ways over clock if we need to.

this is great news.. been wondering when we are gonna get it for are phones now that s is off. lol cant figure out if i wanna take back my sensation for a g2x since it got gingerbread and i heard it runs much better now. my sensation is the slowest duel core phone ever. i came from a mytouch 4g and they feel the same as far as everyday use and that makes me a bit mad. felt like i wasted my upgrade in a way.
We need S-OFF before anything else . We are almost into Aug and am wondering if HTC would release an update to do so.

I think it's private and unshared for now. They are working on a few things.
Dunno if i want to give up the htc mail and camera apps for cm7. I like cm7 on my N1 but the borked a2dp and various apps that go poof(compared to stock) were a bit of a bummer. Plus, htc has enterprise wifi support that works well, cm7, not so much.
I'll grab a bag of popcorn and a beer and see how things go for folks.

even if you had the vendor for it you would be missing all the msm8660 support amd a bunch of other things that are also private right now

There is absolutely nothing "inconsiderate" about not wanting to use a Sense-based ROM. No matter what the other chefs do (unless they build from AOSP), their ROMs will be bloated with Sense trash, and some of us don't like that one bit.

I think patience is what we need to have right now. Yes CM7 is coming for us, that is a given based on the screen shots we have already seen from kmob. Also, now that we have S-Off, I would expect that more developers will start to bring us their AOSP Roms. At the least we will see kanged versions of CM7.

Not inconsiderate... just the FACT... (in my case) will not waste time on ANY Rom... that's correct... any problems? I know every single ROM out there... from mike's Revolution HD... LeeDroid, CoreDroid bla bladroid... and non of them offer the true potential you can get out of your hardware as CyanogenMod does. RomManager full compatibility, and even the Android Store is full of CM7 customizations... ADW is really robust and there is no HTC Sence on this Earth that can get even close to ADW's complexity. Well that's only my opinion after years of installing Roms since windows mobile 3/4... Remember, we are all here to post comments and help each other...
