[Q] Can't make calls with Backbeat 903 - Desire Accessories

All you guys who have the 903s, are you able to make a call successfully using the headset?
There's no way (I think) of starting a call from the headset so I make it from the phone, but it doesn't transfer the call to the headset.
Am I missing something?
(Using LeeDroid 2.1a)

Try going to bluetooth setting while the headset is connected select and hold the backbeat and then choose options un-select and then re-select phone. I had the same problem, and this worked for me.

Thanks!

Bluetooth headset profile

Guys,
I did search through the forum and I found several users with the following problem but no solution yet.
I use a bluetooth headset a lot (not a stereo, just a regular one!) and when I answer a call, people on the other side can not hear me. I have to go to bluetooth setting and do "Set as handfree" on the device so that it works again.
But it only works for a couple of minutes! The next call that I use my headset I need to do it again.
Is there a solution for this?
PS: My bluetooth headset is a Motorola H700.

I use a Plantronics 510 (or something like that) and I haven't had any problems with WM6 disconnecting from it like you describe. I have went to answer the phone with it a couple of times and it didn't seem to be linked up, but I just press the button on the headset and it links right up and then answers the call on the next press. But thats only happened a couple of times and I think each of those times I had walked away from my phone so probably went out of range (so I'm guessing the phone just hadn't noticed the BT headset being in range yet).
Try deleting the partnership and setting it up again after a soft reset.
I too have a Plantronics Voyager I think its called and I have not had this problem. I tossed my Motorola BT because the audio level was way too low on it.

I tried that and it did not work... Thanks for trying anyway...
Did you try when you tick the hands free that you used the enter button on the D pad instead of the other button?

I've reported the same issue with Farias ROM I am using WM6. I use a Plantronics, have to keep going back and selecting it as the handsfree.
Don't know if it a WM6 problem or a Faria problem...annoying I know.

hey.... it worked!!!! At least so far! :-D
I have repaired the headset (but I tried that several times in the past!) and untick the hands free and ticked it again and now I have tried several times and it seems that it is working.
I do not understand way. Can you explain I this non-sense procedure solves the problem
I had a little problem pairing my Plantronics Explorer 340 with my device, but after the pairing, it did work without any problems. apparently some WM6 roms out thre are having this issue. I would suggest re-flash your device and se how it works
I have a Plantronics 655 and don't have this problem. The only thing out of the ordinary that I do when pairing though is re-name the headset (defaults to 6xxPlantronics, I change it to Plantronics 655)
However, I experience a slightly different problem. My BT headset and handset don't automatically re-pair after returning in range or resetting the handset. Anyone else experiencing this?
Everytime I walk out of range or reset my phone, I would have to turn off my headset then turn it back on for the two to pair back up. I sometimes forget and when I hear the handset ring, I pick up w/ the headset only to find that they're no longer paired. Is there a way to have the two automatically pair back up? I never had this problem when I was using AKU3 roms and the stock Cingular 2.25 ROM.

Handsfree devices with WM6

Hey group I was just wondering how your devices (running WM6) worked with different hands free devices. I myself use two different items.
#1) Scosche Bluelife Bluetooth Wireless Car Kit
I like the device itself but I have problems with my MDA not automatically pairing with it when I turn the car on. I have to maually select it as the Handsfree option within the bluetooth menu on the phone.
#2) Jabra BT620s
Again great device for voice calls, however music seems a little slow during playback and the phone doesn't automatically pair up with it when in range.
That's what I use. What do you guys use and how do they work with WM6?
oh yeah, and just to be clear, the devices do pair initially, just not automatically like they did with WM5.

My Plantronics Bluetooth has the same problem, well similar, it stays paired up, but if an incomming call comes in, the headset doesnt recognize it untill I hit the button once for it to notice, then gotta hold it down for 2 seconds till it beeps then it answers the phone, and have to do same to make outgoing calls. I dunno what model I hav because I cant find it no where and cant find package for it, but its very similar to the Explorer 320...just looks different.

Reconnects by itself. Turn on bluetooth on my phone, turn on the 320 and it connects automatically.
My bad fellaz, I got the Plantronics 220 Bluetooth, and the issue I posted above is what I'm having with it.

Hi all!
Most of the time I´m satisfied but I can´t get it to work flawless. Sometimes it just drops the connection to the phone in the middle of a conversation.
The most annoying thing is the skipping, mostly when I´m streaming webradio.
Anyone else using this headset and if so, are you having the same problems?

Plantronics Discovery 340 works exactly like it did in WM5... perfectly...
Using WM6 Most Beautiful Edition I think (flashed so many roms that night hard to rem. which i settled for lol)

Did you install the a2dp patch?
no, i didn't know their was one. im going to look for it now and see if it solves my problems. but it may be my bluetooth. i have a Motorola H3 bluetooth headset
edit i installed the fix and when i go to settings >connection> bluetooth> Menu>Devices>Motorola H3 i get the option of headset but i cant hear music through it. do i need a different media player?
or is there any way to get my phone to recognize the orignal headphones it came with.
The motorola h3 isn't an a2dp headset. I'd suggest the motorola s9, which is absolutely the best I've ever tried (and I've tried alot), but expensive. with an a2dp headset, you'll get an options for "headset" and "wireless stereo".
You can get music to go a non-a2dp headset, but it somewhat of a pain, and sounds like crap anyway.
But it is wierd that your wired headset doesn't work w/ your phone. when you plug it in, does it automatically switch to 'headset' profile?
@ dm251z, nope it doesnt automatically say headset or switch into the headset profile nor does it allow me to select it.
I suspect that there is hardware problem, but of course I have no way of knowing. normally, you can stick just about anything into the headphone jack, and the phone will automatically switch to headset profile (I just tried sticking in an adapter w/o headphones, and that switched it). I don't think that that profile can be switched manually, only hardware controlled. So maybe the headphone jack is shot.
sorry I can't be of more help. I guess I'd suggest trying stereo bluetooth. You can't go wrong with a decent bluetooth headset...even if the phone is shot, you can still use the headset with your next phone. Also for the a2dp patch to work, make sure that your phone has the latest ROM installed, or at least some version of aku 2.x
good luck.
ok. thanx alot for all your help. i even tried a friend of mines adaptor and it didnt work either so i guess ur right. o well. thanx again.

Make phone ring when bluetooth is connected?

I've searched, but seems that nobody was able to find the answer.
I got a bluetooth headset that's pretty much always connected, but not always in my ear.
Problem is that phone doesn't ring (there no sound, only vibration) when there's bluetooth connected. Can I make it always ring?

My bluetooth is also always connected to my phone. What I do is that in the bluetooth settings, I uncheck the "Wireless Stereo" checkbox. In this case, my phone rings as per normal and I can still pick them up using my bluetooth.
But won't that turn off my stereo headphone functionality (i.e. stereo music)?
I got Voyager 855 which also acts as stereo headphones.

Well, you can always check the option when you need to use them as stereo headphones.
that's work.. =)
Isn't there an easier way?
Had this happen to me as well on the Voyager 855, but it started working again. See my post/resolution in thread.

[Q] An app to fake a call to activate BT in my car (and listen to music)

Hi everyone,
My car has a bluetooth chip inside, but it only works when someone calls me or when I call someone. The BT chip of my car is recognized by my phone as an "headphone device" or something like that.
So I would like to find an app which fakes that the phone is receiving a call or that I'm calling someone so that I can listen to my music using BT.
Obviously, all that app such as call faker don't do the trick because they are just a sort of skin which is absolutely not faking a call the way I mean it.
Do you know that kind of app or any method to do so ?
Thanks,
KennyG9
i know what you mean, but there is no way that could happen sorry . (no app exist to date as far as i know)
you need what is called a a2dp bluetooth car set. that will let you stream music. (i have one)
other than that i'm afraid your out of luck.
but you could try buying the IO Bluetooth car kit (the one i have)
works well!
Oh, that's a shame .
Anyway, I'm going to take a look a bit more about A2DP, but I guess that I will not have enough motivation to buy one (and continue listening to music with my ooooold CD Player \o/ ).
So thanks for your answer Oly,
If someone else can help me in any other way, I stay tuned on this topic, even if it seems to be difficult.
KennyG9
Perhaps this would be possible if someone writes an app which uses the "phone line" not sure how it is called and how I should describe it in english.
But if you make an app which has a sound output you can tell it the type like navigation, music, call...
I am not sure if that does it, but someone could try?
Perhaps I could write a small app which plays one song to the call channel fit test purposes?
I have no headset or anything similar.

Tasker to the rescue! Just tried the following profile in Tasker, and it worked how you want:
New task: Prank
Call my home number (+ auto dial)
Wait 5 seconds
End call
I then create a tasker widget, and point it to this profile. Now when ever I press this widget, it dials my home number for 5 seconds then hangs up.
Tasker ain't free, or easy to get used to, but it's incredibly powerful. I think it has a trial period. Check it out.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
Thanks for answer wnp, but I don't really understand in which way it's supposed to help me, because Tasker is really calling someone and really ending the call. Anyway, I tried it and it didn't worked because when Tasker is launching the call, the BT headphone of the car activates (ok), it rings, and end the call (stopping BT headphone in the car) 5 seconds later. It works exactly as if I had really done it with my hand. Or maybe I didn't understood well what you explained ?
Thanks anyway,
KennyG9
I'm looking for this as well!
Try AutomateIt or Llama. AI has a bluetooth trigger option, eg start an app (music) and it will trigger bluetooth and you can set bluetooth to default connect to a specific source.

Ok I downloaded automateit but how would I set this up with my car stereo Bluetooth? As the same with the OP in the 1st post, I don't have a streaming option, but I can make calls, and it is only while i'm on a call i'm able to play and hear other audio sources such as Pandora, mp3, etc on my phone. How can I fake a call, so that I trigger the Bluetooth to activate with this app?
I'm just sayin!
You can use an app called BTmono in the market for this. It can stream all audio from your device to your car reciever. But the streaming is only in mono because your car's bluetooth works like a mono headset.
Sent from my HTC Desire S
Ok I appreciate the help offered but the suggestions is not suitable for the problem. The problem that we're having is that the car audio headset don't have an option to stream audio from a Bluetooth device, but will allow calls thru Bluetooth.....if I have a connected call from my phone to my car audio headset, only then is when I can stream other audio formats from my phone, but once the call is disconnected, then I went be able to. So once again, are there any apps that can fake a call to initiate the Bluetooth as an incoming call so that I can stream audio from my phone??
I'm just sayin!
I also have a Jabra headset and can only stream audio when there is a call. It should be working as same. As I said, BTmono can stream all audio on the connected bluetooth device. Have you tried it first?

Yes I did try btmono, but I didn't see anything within the app that would allow to fake a call. Unless i'm overlooking. Maybe you can instruct how?

[Post found via google]
Sip applications such as sipdroid do change phone state. and SIPDROID is a SOFTWARE-ONLY SOLUTION. we just need a software that would make a dummy call...
I have an app called Call Reminder and when it triggers I know the phone is actually on a call state
I'v personally tried btmono and the other one and both failed for me. [not desire though].
On my windows Mobile phone for this i use an app that routes all audio output to Bluetooth
So I can hear music on my headset
The app is bt audio
Don't know if there is an equal app for Android

BTMono or Fake call
I've been digging the internet for a similar solution and stumbled upon a few pages.
BTmono or any of the myriad of other applications should work from what i read. It simply routes the music audio stream to headset/headphone audio (the one that's used for a call) which is compatible with a mono-bluetooth headset or in your case the non-A2DP car bluetooth. This is essentially what you suggested, by placing a fake call.
playstore - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bedoig.BTmono
The other more interesting option (i like to avoid having an app if the task can be done simply otherwise) is to call the 2 second pause function from the dialer. There's a thread about this over at this other forum. It describes the 2 second pause as a double star **. However i figured in my Nexus 4 the 2 second pause is simply a comma (,).
forum link - androidforums.com/motorola-droid/16849-audio-other-than-calls-bluetooth-headset.html#post122894
I haven't tried either as I left my mono-bluetooth at work today. Will try both out tomorrow and post my results. Both seem like plausible solutions.
Btmono seems the only one to have worked.

Steam music over Bluetooth for phone only setups
I've solved this problem but you need two phones. Connect a phone to Bluetooth in your car, use another phone to call you, answer the call and on the other phone press hold. You can now stream music on any of the apps on the Bluetooth phone until you hang up the call. I found this out when someone left me on hold for a period of time. Using Tidal high fidelity the sound is amazing in my 2006 Range Rover
