I have an extremely annoying problem with Opera Mini 5.
When typing in a forum reply field, such as here on XDA, all of a sudden the space bar starts erasing the entire word I typed before. When this starts happening, I can't use any keyboard - the build-in HTC soft k/b, FingerKeybd, the hardware k/b all do that. This only happens in Opera Mini - I can switch to any other app and type normally. Sometimes it corrects itself, sometimes I have to close Opera.
I hope somebody can help !

Help Needed! Touch Keypad and keyboard returns numbers in "abc" and "XT9" mode
I need any help I can get on this! Thanks in advance.
I am not sure why, but suddenly my touch keypad and keyboard returns only numbers even when I am in "abc" and "XT9" mode. For example in "abc" mode, when I pressed the key "abc", it returns "2" when it should actually show "a". Same problem in "XT9".
Problem persists even when I soft reset a few times. I am not sure if this is due to one of these programs that I recently installed - (i) pocketcm, and (ii) opera 9.5 (extracted from one of this forum).
I use the touch keypad very often and would really like to get it working again. Does anyone know how this can be fixed (hopefully not a hard reset)?
Thanks a lot in advance
I had the same problem - it was driving me bonkers! I uninstalled PocketCM Keyboard, did a few soft resets and a power-off and the problem went away
Same problem here. I'm using Bepe 0.66. Soft-reset has fixed the problem so far, but it's annoying when it happens.
Same for me too. I uninstalled pocket CM Keyboard and three soft resets but still the same problem.

Try doing a power-off and on. That solved the problem for me. Doing a soft reset sometimes causes the phone to "lose" the installed microSD. Had to re-insert the card a couple of times for the phone to re-detect the card.
Bump
I have the same problem, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. No rhyme or reason. It seams to work if I switch to full keyboard and back again but that defeats the object... Any ideas?
Same for me
I've tried multiple soft resetS and power off/on, but nothing...
I've searched in registry, but I did'nt find something.
Please, help us if you can

All text applications. For me the problem starts with upgrading of pcm keyboard to last version, 0.14. This one works normally, but HTC keyboards always type numbers. Once unistalled, everything comes ok.
The same problem here. I have also installed PCM Keyboard 0.14. Now I know it is a 'known' problem, I can go to sleep normally again ;-)
I hope someone finds a solution...... thank you in advance!
Any one any ideas on this one? I have the standard O2 ROM and its really starting to annoy me. Its really painful to have to get the stylus out every time to send a text!
Still no solution? anyone recommend a keypad that can be installed over the standard ones? and used with one hand of course...
Thanks
I got this problem yesterday. I hadn't read this thread, but had only installed face contacts, sms-chat and pcm keyboard since it had been working OK.
I had been using SIP change to make my selected SIP work, so I changed the selected SIP from PCM keyboard to ordinary keyboard.
I then uninstalled the three programmes. Then used S-K tools to find all traces of all of them and removed them manually. Also, deleted the folder in program files for PCM keyboard.
Then I soft reset by power off method. To my relief, Touch keyboard worked again.
Re-installed Face Contacts, everything still fine, re-installed sms-chat, everything fine.
Did not re-install pcm keyboard as I think that was the problem.
During all this, TouchPal still worked OK and there is a free version, so those who are still having problems could try using that until you get the other stuff to work again.
i had the same problem after installing a t9 dictionary.
i have the same problem too. the touch-keyboard works fine in all applications except the Opera for Windows Mobile browser and typing a www-adress with the stylus does not really funny.
i am thinking about installing the Resco Keyboard Pro (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/keyboard/) but don't wanna pay $20 for a bug in the htc's software.
I got the same problem, with Opera Mobile...there I just can use the "normal" windows keyboard, not the HTC Touch keyboards, they ae just typing numbers...if anyone has a fix for this, I would be really happy...seems to me that the opera mobile still has some bugs, for me it does not show all "labels" (text in menu) correctly, so that sometimes there just I have <-123456789-> instead of the caption...
Has anyone got a solution for this yet?
I think there were a bug with one version of Opera Mobile 9.5. Installing the most recent release may solve the problem. Here is the latest version and some discussion about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401643
Thanks for the reply but I don't have opera installed and never have. Whenever I use the touch keyboard or touch keypad it just inputs numbers.
I just experienced the same problem. I installed a english t9 dictionary file and after a soft reset the problem was there. After reading this thread I removed the english dictionary and the problem went away.
Hey everyone,
If I have Opera open on my HTC Touch Pro with the hardware keyboard slid out, it still shows the onscreen keyboard (and it's annoying having to keep closing it all the time). Any idea how to fix this?
I too would like to know the solution for this. I have a feeling that this is kind of a feature from Opera and can't be disabled but it's very annoying for users with hardware keyboard.
I have this issue on my kaiser too

Actually, it's not Opera. It's Raphael itself. HTC should have made it in such a way that if the keyboard is out, the SIP should not be displayed.
To prove that it is not Opera, try creating a new SMS. Do this in portrait mode first. Try hiding the SIP and change field (To or Message). You'll see that the SIP is displayed every time you change field. Now slide out the keyboard. Try changing field and you'll see that the SIP is also displayed.
As far as I understand (from another post somwhere on the forum) it's not technically a bug...
It's a requirement of Windows mobile that the SIP is deployed whenever text is entered into a field. Seems rather daft when you have a hardware keyboard on your phone though...
I've had that registry tweak above work for me, the same tweak is implemented in Advanced Config 3.3 as well. There's another fix that *should* work throughout Windows Mobile, for text fields.
It's called nullkb, and installs an option into the SIP menu that gives you a null keyboard option, and any attempt to bring up the SIP brings up nothing. I installed it, and it appeared to work, but after a reset, it defaulted back to the normal keybaord, so you have to select the null keyboard everytime you reset the device.
I'd love to find a way to simply disable auto deployment of the SIP in ALL circumstances. NullKB forces you to go into the SIP menu and select another keyboard should you want to use symbols, for example. The registry fix only seems to (sometimes) work for opera.
I just want the SIP to stay hidden until I want it, and a single click on the keyboard icon should bring the selected keyboard up.
I have no idea how to go around getting this working, I'm more of an end user than a developer...
e: there's also this reg key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange=1
Change that to 0 and it disables the SIP entirely. I'm thinking this fix and judicious use of PQzII (once I figure out how the hell to set it up...) to set up hardware keys for lots of symbols (where the hell is "\" on the keyboard? On a WM phone I would've thought a \ key would be mandatory...) might be the way forward, though it's a fair amount of work to get everything set up.

That doesn't work, at least not on my CDMA Touch Pro.

Doesn't work on my CDMA Touch Pro That regedit makes the keyboard appear on screen all the time, with no way to minimize it.
it is a bug in opera...
it is well documented as one
you can see if you disable autodeploy of keybaord (use advanced config) and youll see it still appears in opera. the only work around is to download nullkb and select it as your input while using opera
I had the problem with nullkb that it wouldn't stay as the default SIP after a soft reset. Loading PQzII and setting a link to PQzII in the startup folder fixed this, as within PQzII you can select which SIP should be displayed in portrait *and* landscape individually.
This still means a couple of clicks to get a keyboard up in landscape for entering symbols, but if in portrait the SIP will display normally.
I still can't get the "\" to work properly through PQzII though... it displays odd characters whenever I enter it into any of the PQzII configuration options. I suspect \ is used extensively in the code or something, and this messes up what's going on inside PQzII.
I installed MagiKB Lite and have it configured the way I always do. I've been using it all day including replying to threads here on PPCGeeks and have been experiencing some lag. I have MagiKB set so that when I hold a key it enters the capitalized letter and when I double click it enters the symbol for that key.
What's happening now is that when I hold a key it will enter the lower case letter immediately followed by the capitalized letter. When I double click it enters that key's default character first immediately followed by the symbol. Not sure what to call this other than "lag".
I've messed with all the timing options in MagiKB and that hasn't fixed the lagginess.
I've also disabled all of the T9 / predictive text stuff on the Touch Pro.. I've tried all of the overlays in this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41866
After more "testing" I've found that these problems I'm experiencing happen mostly in Opera browser.
I don't use Opera browser much. I only use it when posting on vB forums. IE doesn't work when I try to post on forums. I tap on the reply box and the cursor never comes up and nothing happens when I try to type.
Hi,
When I type fast on the Samsung Epix (i907) keyboard, then often letters are missing, even though I did get the feedback from the keyboard that the keys were pressed. For example, when I try to enter "this is a test with the new keyboard" it just came out as "this is ates wit the newkeyboard".
I am typing at the same speed on other mobile devices (e.g. Blackberry) and it works fine there.
Here is what I have tried so far:
1) Turned off Word Completion and Auto Correct under "Settings/Input/Word Completion". Some posts suggested that solves the issue on some other Windows Mobile devices, but it did not do anything on the Epix.
2) Changed sensitivity on the Up/Down Control under "Settings/Buttons". Same result: no change.
3) Performed a hard reset and tried it again with only the blank OS (plus all the goodies AT+T added...). Still same result.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?
Thanks much!
Ralph

Thanks for the quick reply. Which forum is the most appropriate for this question? I was not able to find a forum specifically for the Epix.
Thanks.

Is it random letters or is it always the same letters that you missing? According the example text that you have given it seams you have missed twice the space key.
However I have such issue with my HTC Universal. In my case I found out it is the keyboard membrane that doesnt function as it suppose to be and it is mostly the same letters that failing.
See now I had the Mogul and this happened almost no stop. I figured it to be an issue with lag?
Anyone have an issue where the Samsung keyboard will stop responding to SwiftFlow, also known as "swiping"?
For example, sometimes when I want to input text, the Samsung keyboard appears, but instead of being able to swipe through letters, It will only detect "tapping" or the first letter I touch.
The simple fix is to hit the "back" button on the phone which will close the keyboard, then bring the keyboard back and SwiftFlow/Swyping will work again. The problem is I seem to be running into this a few times a day during heavy use, so it's obviously annoying when it happens.
