G'day All,
Has anyone found an IR keyboard that works with the XDA II (or iMATE) other than the mythical genuine O2 IR Keyboard?
Every driver that I've found so far either trashes the XDA II or really messes things up.
While I understand that there's a few people on the forums asking a similar question, I thought I'd start a topic and see if we can aggregate the various results!
BTW: To start the ball rolling - Targus say "not anytime soon" for their XDA II driver, Citipack are meant to be working on one (a few months away). ThinkOutside don't reply to emails (!!)...
Any other results?
Cheers
Andy
COMPETITION!
Just to make things a little interesting!
Anyone WANT A FREE IR KEYBOARD??
The first person that emails me an IR Keyboard driver that works on a Citipack IR Keyboard with an iMate (XDA II) wins a brand new CitiPack keyboard including freight to wherever you are (we sell these keyboards).
Email: [email protected]
Cheers!
Andy
Competition Finished
Well Guys,
That was really disappointing!
No-one submitted a driver at all!
AND we've now got them ready for the iMate / XDA II/ MDA II
The IR Keyboard with drivers for XDA II / iMate etc is now available for Australian buyers online at
http://estore.pressd.com in the Pocket PC & Barcode Solutions section under the iMate / XDA section or under keyboards.
Cheers
Andy
could you send me the driver please as i cant get the keyboard working with my xda 2

Do you have an M500 already or something else ?
Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
I will be relinquishing my i-mate JAM for an M500 in a few hours, so I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone here for a great time and experiencing hacking away at these HTC devices. Though we've accomplished much, it's a double-edged sword with HTC and their branding companies such as i-mate, Dopod, O2, etc. They give us enough leeway to make some really cool customizations, but they also have the attitude that 'if you want features you're missing in your current software, we'd rather you purchase new hardware (read: WM5).'
The Eten M500 seems to be a very formidable competitor with some serious technical support and definite upgrade path to WM5, so in the long run, this will likely outlast the JAM in most respects.
When I get my M500, I'll hope to find a way to get into the bootloader and make a dump of the unit and perhaps end up helping the community who's helped me and countless others with their HTC devices.
Thanks for you time here and at HOFO
it's sad to hear that you are leaving xda-developers...
Yet.. I wish you best luck with your new M500
I hope we can get great info from you regarding the device... as always
thanks for all of your time
cheers
@BeyondtheTech
Has ETEN's build quality improved? Their first few attempts at PPCPE were not so good... maybe you can share your ETEN experience when you get your m500. Have fun with your new device!
ETEN
I was actually talking about the Orange M500, sorry if the conversation went awal..
Hi folks, I am new here. Jst bought a O2 stealth and need to know wat platform (HTC...etc) that it is running on. Also, if there is any AD2P cabs that is found here to use my Motorola headphones... :O
Thanks in Advance.
O2 XDA Stealth is made by Gigabyte not by HTC. Therefore its platform is not on currently this site.
That's right... But let's hope more info can be made available here for the stealth, as it was for atom (also not manufactured by HTC)...
Thanks folks!
is it possible that you can extract the answering machine software on O2 Stealth for us?

how do you find the stealth?? a good device.. can you give more details please...
Definitely much more stable than its siblings (atom and exec) as I had made some comparison with my friend's unit. So far so good as I have not enounter serious problems with it except that the number pad is a bit too soft. When dialing a number or messaging using T9, you will definitely miss a letter or number.
Another thing is on the communication manager. If you turn on and off bluetooth or wireless LAN too often, it will slow down the overall performance. other than these two, no further complains. I believe o2 will release a rom upgrade soon to rectify these little bugs here and there.
Hello i'm newbie. I have problem with O2 stealth...
1. How to use slide keypad without T9 menu
2. Why performance O2 stealth worst than O2 Atom (not exec)
3. Do anyone have upgrade rom for O2 Stealth....
Thanks...
I need XDA Stealth ROM update. Can you tell me where I can download it? I tried to download from O2 web but it says no soft update needed but i need to reflash my phone, thanks

Wait, what is the name of this forum site? xda-developers, not HTC developers. It should be supported on this site.

Our portal page has the following welcome message:
Welcome to xda-developers.com
This site is about certain PDA-phones, made by a secretive firm called HTC in Taiwan. Their makers named them 'Wallaby', 'Himalaya', 'Blue Angel', 'Wizard' and 'TyTN', but almost nobody knows them by those names. The mobile provider O2 sells them under the brand-name 'XDA', and that's what we had in our hands first. They're also known as Qtek, MDA, SX-56, Hermes and many, many other names.
Since we develop software for it, we need information, and nobody seemed eager or ready to give us what we needed. So we 'reverse-engineered' the devices, found a lot of information, and shared it with the world. But as our site grew we realised that lots of ordinary users were also suffering from a lack of support. They started using the xda-developers forum to communicate and before long the forum was as much a user forum as it was a developer forum.
We hope that you will enjoy this site and find it as useful as we do. We encourage you to donate or otherwise support this site. Of course absolutely all proceeds from donations will benefit this community.
If you look closely you will also see that not all phones made by HTC have a place on this forum simply because there isn't room to give every phone a forum.
Best regards,
Flar

Problem
I have a problem with my new device, O2 XDA Stealth Pocket Pc. It was working just fine for 4 days now, but today for some unknown reason the java program has been lost. I cant find it anywhere. Can anyone help me pls?
praneet0007,
The main memory you mention above is the RAM or ROM? If RAM, that's normal. If ROM, it can be many reason, example like you use the pocket ie to online, the cache, history, etc can reduce the memory.
I didn't use Outlook either, I used Jeyo Mobile Companion to backup all my contact and messages. Or you can use the backup application that comes with the handset.
For the register stuff, not really sure what's wrong, you better check with O2 for that.
pploutarchou,
Accidently deleted or it just disappear like that? Try looking in the program files see whether it still there or not.
ching4ever
I dont remember deleting it myself neither i find it in the program files. Either way i dont know how i can delete it from the program files. Is there anywhere i can download it again?

Sorry for posting here rather than in one of the other boards - I just couldn't find a board where the MWg Zinc II would fit in - maybe it's time for a new category?
Just got me the Zinc II - great phone! Works better than the HTC Kaizer which I had as a AT&T / HTC Hybrid.
Screen is only QVGA but very bright, sharp and easy on your eyes, fully glass covered (not that plastic digitizer stuff) - reacts perfectly to finger touch. Besides that, it is a very speedy device! - well, this is not a review - just have a quick question!
I tried to enable the AUTO TIME ZONE page on the device. I am sure that it is in there, it was already pre-enabled on the HTC Kaiser (which I returned for this one because it had a bad general performance + the well known video issues).
The MWg Zinc II seems to be related to the ETEN series, at least the REGISTRY contains lots of ETEN entries.
Back to my question:
I could not find any OEM entries in the registry (as described for the HERMES), so, where (and what) would I have to add a registry entry in order to get the AUTO TIME ZONE page shown under WM 6.1? Help is pretty much appreciated - thanks in advance!
Yep,
seems like I was correct! The MWg Zinc II is a rebaged ETEN GLOFISH M750 or M810:

Still having the same question (see first post).
MWg Zinc II - disable AUTO NETWORK TIME - solution found
After hours 'reading' the registry in my MWg Zinc II, I finally found a way to turn off the AUTO NETWORK TIME UPDATE. Unfortunately, the NITZ Page in the Zinc II is disabled by default, adding the OEM/SHOWNITZPAGE Registry entry won't bring it back on WM6.1 - at least not on the MWg!
The registry key you have to change is the following:
To turn NETWORK TIME OFF:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Clock]
"NetworkTimeSync"=dword:00000000
To turn NETWORK TIME ON:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Clock]
"NetworkTimeSync"=dword:00000001
My MWg was always 1 hour behind the regular time, so, this caused a lot of trouble, especially if you use your device as well as alarm clock! Hope, this will help somebody!

Have a great time with your MWg Zinc II. You seem to be a expert with your Zinc II. I am buying it within this few days. If I have any problems, can I look for you?
Well, not an expert but have some experiences with Windows Mobile. Sure, you can contact me at any time - no problem at all!
I've got the Zinc II and wondering
I'm looking to get a registry hack similar to the kaiser to speed up keyboard response, and to shut off LED coverage indicator.?
Thanks

There's no MWg Zinc II discussion thread here at xda. There's no way to cook a ROM for MWg Zinc II currently.
I wish the ZINC II WAS MORE MAIN STREAM, and had more supporters its a good piece

I wish for that too. It's indeed the MWg ZinC II is a very good device. I do not have any problem with it at all. However, there will be no more up coming MWg devices in future. MWg has already closed down.

Yah. We need help from ROM master. But I do not know who to look for. Will you go ask a ROM master for help? I know of a chinese forum which discuss about Zinc II. They do not have any idea how to cook a ROM for Zinc II either. You can use google to translate it:
