can any1 tell me whats the hotest pocket pc phone today?? the latest and best buy... what brand and model... tnx... i bought my atom... but it sucks..... need a new 1... any... advice please...

I would recomand HTC hermes or Prophet
The first one has the querty keyboard the second one doesn;t

The only bad thing about t-mobile is that they don't come out with many devices on the market as o2 does and they suck big time in bringing the new RUU updates.

anyone has o2 XDA Trion with device problems????

Hi, i'm looking to buy either a Tytn or an o2 XDA Trion......unfortunately they don't sell these here in Australia so i'm going to have to order it overseas......now just looking through the forum there seems to be plenty of minor problems with the HTC Tytn that people are having at the moment.......now for those who have the o2 XDA Trion, please post here any problems you are having as i want to know what would be the best choice for me to buy......right now i'm leaning towards the Trion because no one really has posted any problems with the device.....thanks

I have the Trion here in Germany and I don't get any problems that people are having with the Tytn or the Vodaphone or Tmobile one. Also I think the metallic look of the Trion looks much better than the Tytn. The only problem is that I'm not sure if you can find the Trion which is a English version. I thought the Trion is only availiable in Germany and hence the quertz keyboard. If the keyboard isn't the problem then I'm preety sure you can change the rom and there is a hack to make it work with the German Keyboard.

hi, thanks for the reply......i like the look of the trion as well compared to the tytn.....there is actually an english rom available for the hermes in the xda-developers ftp site......also according to a shop there in Germany (MG&C) were 'm planning to buy my trion from, they can change the the OS to english before they ship the device to me.....so yeah english rom is definitely available......

I don't think, that you will get an orbit 2 with an english rom.
They sell here only with german roms. Waiting is much better than buying one with german rom, when you dont understand it.

Isn't the Touch Cruise already out in Russia? I have seen videos with russian WM6, I think.

No it isn't out in russia.. have you not seen the russian reviews of the touch cruise? You can see that they are only the demo-versions of the device.
The TC is only available in the USA, Greece, Italy and i think in Portugal but in limited quantity. I asked in the KaDeWe here in Berlin, but they don't provide it. Otherwise i would buy it there.

The price in moscow will be ~700 euro..

I would help you to get an orbit 2... Can you speak german (a little bit) ? If yes, you could buy an orbit 2 with german ROM and wait until a english rom is available.

you really want the O2 version? Since the HTC Touch Cruise UK is for sale in the Netherlands at the Belcompany shops... and a few internet shops, but I don't know if they deliver in other countries...

It's bad i thought that you can buy it in germany and use in in russia, till you get an english or russian ROM for it... but if you dont understand it, it's bad.. You can wait one or two month, then you will get 100% an english orbit 2.
Sorry, that i couldn't help you! let's wait together! YOU for an english Orbit 2 and I for a german Touch Cruise.

Im currently using HTC Magician but im lookin to buy a better second-hand ppc (i-e which can support later versions of WM).
Wizard and Prophet are the 2 PPCs im considering at the moment
I need your suggestions as to which PPC I should go for (keeping in view the financial constraint) and some points in favour of your suggestion.
Im looking forward to your suggestions

Wow, you really are going for some older hardware there! In fact, it may be difficult to find new Wizards and Prophets!
If you want to save money, you are probably going to be better off at this point going with a Hermes or a Kaiser. I can personally recommend the Hermes as I have had one, but I know lots of Kaiser owners out there who love their machines too. Both are well-rounded machines with loads of functionality. I haven't looked lately, but I bet you could get a new Hermes for around US$300 if you shopped around a little. Kaisers will probably be a bit more.
If you are looking for something smaller and don't need the keyboard, you can probably find a good deal on an Elf.
All three of these models were very popular, but have pretty much run their course. No doubt some merchants who have over-bought these models are trying to get rid of them before they become completely obsolete.

I live in Pakistan, there are alot of Wizards available and I can get a second-hand wizard in good condition for $90-100. Ive checked on Hermes, It is available for almost $270-290 (second-hand)
Im giving prices as I want to get maximum out of my savings (same old problem with students!)
I tried e-bay but no one out there seem to ship it to my country

The Kaiser/TyTN II is the only one with an official WM 6.1 upgrade. Both the Prodigy/Wizard and the Hermes/TyTN have unofficial WM 6.1 ROMs (made by the cookers here at XDA). Most of the unofficial WM 6.1 ROMs for the Wizard have been abandoned by their cookers.

i would angree with that, have you taken a look in the wizards section?, a new ROM releases every day, esp the TouchHD CRS Series

thats why im taking ur expert opinion that which ppc should I buy
just weigh all the pros and cons and gimme a suggestion - ill go for it!

i have a hermes with t-mobile 6.1 ROM. Its a very good allrounder. Decent performance.
I just upgraded to a Kaiser and ams o far very impressed. Big step up in general performance over the hermes. A lot more responsive.
But a good deal more expensive too.
if you can stretcht to a Kaiser i'd get that. otherwise the Hermes is a very capable device.

This week a pal bought a Mint ELFin for US$350.00 shipping included via Ebay. I've owned many smartphone and some touch phones...as I keep saying...the EFLin to today is my favorite. Why? Small, with a pcm keyboard, Manila, and a few other goodies, it will give a run to any phone out there on the market.

Isn't it next month sometime? Although I must admit I'm not too excited about the prospect - 6.1 does a great job for me and I haven't read anything to sell 6.5 ... open to offers on that one tho

if im not mistaken, it was said that they would ship out mobilephones with 6.5 in time for christmas, so maybe a little sooner ( a month or maybe more) for a plain upgradre/update?

Upgrade to 6.5 will be same as flashing a new ROM.
All gone, your device is again like a virgin, just as it was when you bought it.

I heard should be in Dec 2009, maybe early Dec.
