Database Info

Looking at HTC/XDA's and need advice and help!

Hi guys/gals,
I'm going to be getting a work mobile in a few weeks on the O2 network in the UK. I was thinking of a blackberry but then saw the XDA's (HTC). I don't really need a PDA but its a works phone and having excel would make my job a lot easier as I don't have a laptop but need some access to excel in the warehouse, as well as outlook and messenger when I'm out on site.
Now the 2 that's I'm looking at are the XDA Stellar (http://www.my-xda.com/devices/xda_stellar.jsp) and Orbit 2 (http://www.my-xda.com/devices/xda_orbit2.jsp). The problem is that they are just re-branded on the O2 network and I cant figure out which are the related HTC phones. So could someone tell me which are which so i can do some more research.
I have been reading review and seems the Stellar is a better PDA/phone as its got the slide out KB. But typical O2, i cant really tell what are the differences as one pages says one thing and the other something else.
Does the stellar have a touch screen like the orbit, with the same funtionality?
Both do Wifi and GPS?
can i get tomtom software for the XDA?
whats the battery life like on both phones? (I have heard horror stories when using 3G or WiFi with a sub 4 hour battery life)
Can u 'image' the OS and stuff like u can on a PC to back up everything? (i ask because I do like to have a play and its nice to know u can get it back to factory settings again)
any helpful links u peeps might have to gimmi a help deciding? reviews, guides ect ?
Sorry for all the questions. I really like the look of them but have never had a chance to use one so I thought i would be best to ask soem people who know the in's and out's.

I NEED A SMS SOFTWARE Which should not show my phone number

Hello,
I am currently using a O2 XDA Flame. OS : WM5
Now, i am searching for a sms software which should not show my phone number when i send a text message, but instead it should show whtever i type
For eg : VODAFONE Or some other phone number.
I know such softwares exist.
I tried HUSHSMS but neither it sends a FLASH MSG nor it hides my number.
If some one can suggest few softwares i would be really greatful.

You're right the software must exist, but I am not sure it exists for Windows Mobile. I could be wrong.
It is used in commercial applications for sending marketing SMSs to large numbers of contacts. I would begin by googling "commercial SMS".

i haven't seen one ether and i had searched for one a year ago but no luck

whtever u said its absolutely true!! but i have seen many people using nokia phones have installed this type of software specially i have seen in nokia 7610.
i forgot the exact name of tht software. newayz i will try googling it... lets hope for the best !! and thanks a lot for ur responce !!

Samsung Omnia and Cab files

Hi all..
currently, i am using Samsung i900 Omnia which is running WM 6.1. I downloaded some cab files to my phone. But i cannot see those cab files i have downloaded to my phone.
How can i solve that problem? I want to install some cab files in my phone.

While I am unable to answer your question, I do have one for you. Where did you get your Omnia? I'm in the US and am looking to buy one. Thanks, and good luck finding the cab files you downloaded!

well kenosis,
it just depends on where you placed your cab files.
if u used activesync, then u could simply use explorer to drag and drop you cab file onto the varios folder on the phone.
there are basically 3 locations you can place your CAB files.
1. my device - (EEPROM/flash)??. this is where my documents and most other folder are located. limited memory space, so use wisely.
2. my storage - 8/16 GB internal flash memory. plenty of spave to play around with. good idea to install stuffs here.
3. storage card - microSD card. use as u like.

I found 2 yesterday that asked people to email them at the bottom of the advert. They then explain that they are changing there paypal account and that because of this they need you to use the "Ebay Protection Plan" system. This involves them sending you an email from checkoutsupport.com (which doesn't have a www.) asking you to forward the money to a Western Union Agent......
Suspect? I thought so! Also, to boot, when I challenged the guy via email he got VERY stroppy. So I reported them. No sooned I had reported these two adds, I then found a third identical advert .....
Finaly, you can also pre-order on Expansys. Should be available any day now.

Hi sab73. Is it true that there is no stylus stored in the device? How are you managing without one?

Omnia/SE Xperia request
XDA given it is an htc only website wont open its doors to foreign brands. This is a problem because the new prolific phones will be from samsung and sony ericson. We should email the admins and re request some progress be made to accommodate those who have an omnia and future experia owners. The samsung Omnia request already got shut down by a mod. Please email your local admin and mod about this so that we all can mutually benefit by this

It was a rhetorical question doggy, Its a Sony Ericson phone. I just dont understand why some mods and admins are opposed tot he omnia if they have a SE Xperia forum.

You don't understand, I'm pretty sure HTC IS making the x1 for SE. I'm sure I read that somewhere. HTC is not making the Omnia. That's the difference

Ohh thats right I read that a long time ago, That was in the february articles. I havn't seen or heard anything else on that matter since then. But yeah, you are right my apologies.

New non tekkie member looking for help.
My HTC Touch died. (fell off van)
Upgraded to TYTN11
My work requires 3rd party software on phone (ukaMFT) Im a self employed SKY engineer
Found out the 3rd party sw only works on wm 6.0 or below
The TyTn11 came pre loaded with 6.1
New sw version not available for => 6months
Any help would be fantastic as I cant work till I get the fix

I suggest you go to the Kaiser section and either look for a WM6 rom to flash on your device.. otherwise what you need to do is contact a developer to check out the software for you... so he can realize what the problem is and maybe create a fix for it. It would be sort of like hiring someone.. so I think cash would be involved.
You can find people who deal with Kaier roms in the Kaiser section.. maybe they can help.

[Q] Download SMS/MMS from XDA Serra

Evening all,
firstly my appologies to you all if this is a common question and has been asked before. i run a car forum and know how frustrating that it can be when you have the same thing over and over again. however i have searched and althoughthere are similar problems, nothing exact to my question.
I currently have a O2 XDA Serra (HTC) and have aggreed to upgrade my contract. O2 have sent out a new phone to me, but i had to persuade the delivery driver to be able to keep my existing handset for a couple more days as i have a lot of information to come off the phone. o2 said that they need the phone back on an exchange basis.
Anyway i have managed to get all media and info of the phone, except the SMS/MMS threads. a lot of the messages are of sentimental value from people that unfortunatley aren't around anymore i dont wish to transfer the messages, purely download and be able to read back at times.
is there any software or way of doing thins please?
time is essential hear, and i would be extremely greatfull for anyone to help me out.
