Upload lag fix - Epic 4G Android Development

I'm sure everyone here has experemced it using the epic. If you don't know what I'm talking about try uploading a picture to facebook. Try attaching something in your email. Even on occasion sending a mms text.
I've been plaqued with this since release day. No matter what rom or kernal I use I experience this. It renders the phone useless until the upload is complete. As anyone founda way to fix this? Is there a certain rom kernal combination I should try? Is there a patch for this or are we doomed for the life of the phone?

The Epic isn't capped. The software that controls 3G upload uses too much system resources and lags the phone down.
A few days ago I had a few pictures (3-4MB) I wanted to email a friend. My battery was at 72% when I hit send. Ten minutes later the email was still sending and the battery was at 4%.

That woul make sense. I haven't nessasarily seen too much lag but my battery is being sucked dry in 3-4 hours.
Really hoping they can fix that... I need this phone to go all day on battery.

I see. Updated original post.
New version of the beta out, looks much better but has some issues with swype
is there anywhere to get the app for android since the beta stopped working for everyone today
I have the newest version which is build #0.9.9.1 and it's got the shut down button to truly close the app finally lol but they took out the ability to use voice notes which was cool... kinda like what Palringo has!! hope they put it back! it's still in beta so im sure before it becomes final they'll polish it up good!!
I just Confirmed BeejiveIM is using C2DM(Google's Push notification Service)! My EVO's battery is crying with joy. I can now leave it running in the background with barely any battery drain! HOORAY!

Reading ABD logcat at first, then I noticed it actually shows it when you're installing the app and it asks for permissions. "Allow app to use Cloud to Device Messaging" under Network use.
Also notice that when you open it, it takes a split second to "update" your buddy list(Unlike eBuddy,Trillian and all others), proving it wasn't doing anything in the background.
I wouldn't let the 100% uptime keep you from installing this app. I am literally online the whole day and have noticed no major impact on battery life.
can you PM the link or how to get the APK for the latest beta?

I dont see how the 100% wake time wouldn't have a negative effect on the battery. Its not letting the phone sleep. Isn't the purpose of push technology to let the app sleep in the background and only wake the app when there is data to be sent?

First of all, my phone does not keep a 100% wake time when using Beejive. Even if it did, you need to understand what your phone is actually doing and what Android reports as "Wake time". Android can report your phone as "awake" while using 0% cpu and 0% network--Draining the same exact amount or even LESS as if the phone was being reported as "asleep".
My point is: People take the awake time too seriously. It's there to help you understand what app might be draining your battery but absolutely does not mean your battery is being raped. The system is really complex so it can and it WILL sometimes report your phone as awake, even though it's not draining any battery at all.
MSmith1 said:

Yes. But like I said, Android sometimes reports the phone as Awake just because the App is sitting there-While using 0% CPU and 0% Network -- The phone is effectively asleep. It's using a push connection, and when a message comes in it will use some cpu and some network--effectively waking up the phone, using some battery.

I think I've reduced my reboots/screen-off crash

I'm sure I will still have reboots/issues like others because LG obviously knows of a bug in the phone BUT...in the meantime it appears I've reduced the reboots by uninstalling one bloody app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidapps.widget.battery
I didn't use the widget but just the notification icon that shows battery %. I know this definitely has to have something to do with my earlier issues because prior to this I was getting freezes (screen is off and won't turn on without battery pull) and reboots quite frequently.
Since I uninstalled this junk, I've used the phone heavily and so far *KNOCK ON WOOD* it appears to be more stable.
Right now I'm sitting at 18h of uptime. Like I said, if I can get 4-5 days of uptime before a reboot I can live with it until a fix. But I can't have the thing reboot/freeze on me multiple times a day - that's not acceptable.
I'm using guage battery widget as I did on my Incredible without issue.

ur back light bleeding is not an issue its something for u to ***** about. if u don't like it take it back or turn down the brightness. its not that bad unless u text in the dark with ur nose to screen which in that case you are a douche bag. sorry to be so harsh but u could have looked at a demo model before buying and *****ing it gets old. do ur research it is still a better screen than the samold line other than the deep blacks that they are very much ahead of the game in regards to that on the samold.

I pulled the SIM outta my G2x last week after my N1 came back from the dead.
With the G2x just sitting there without a SIM, being used occasionally for Riptide or Pinball HD and some web browsing/email while watching the tube I get a solid 3 days of battery life. I forget the stupid thing is even on until the alarm goes off every morning at 6:45.
Just don't use the phone part of your $500 phone and it will work great!
solution
it was the downloaded apk for the market. i did a complete reset so this should fix my issue.

He took down my email address so he can send me the update when he gets it next week..so that way reps can test it out and start pushing it in stores.. in my opinion I don't see the update coming in the next few weeks to customers if an LG reps g2x isn't even updated yet..and is barely starting to roll out for reps to test out.. sorry for the long post..and once again..DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER! actually this makes sense.
1) people who have said their phones said there was an update after phone rebooted .. this has been mentioned several times so that part makes sense.
2) you are the second person from a different source today to mention an update for next week.
obviously its probably just getting to tmobile next week but at least thats something.
Let us know how it goes. if you dont see an internal update by next week than well know thats its probably not trust worthy. but what he said makes sense regarding the update stuff.
and hopefully the gb update fixes gps and wifi

I can say my battery life appears to be better, no random reboots yet.
I've also previously experienced what I call hibernate which is where I have to press the power key 12 times to unlock the screen. Seems to run a bit smoother as well.
Problems so far are the camera sucks now. When the screen goes to standby after I load a webpage and I unlock the screen, it reverts to the previous page.
I have had a few occasions where I have had to click a link like 10 times to get data to load the page. That all I've notices so far within the 24 hours I've been running the update.

On my 3rd G2x and it has been solid cept for a few things, such as GPS taking up to 20 minutes to lock, apps being unable to be moved to SD-card, whenever adding an app or widget to the homescreen would lock up the phone for a bit and would take up to 5 minutes to pull up a list, eating through a battery down to 40% after a full charge within 3 hours of light use.
Granted I fixed almost all those issues by rooting it and applying fixes I discovered through this wonderful forum. From the GPS fix (it locked within about 20sec-3minutes, much better than before) and the pre-opt-dex patch that was put up here which totally helped when adding apps/widgets to the homescreen(3-10 seconds compared to the 5 minutes). To some battery monitoring apps and charging techniques that helped me get the best out of my battery, which saw a full charge last about 9 hours before it squealed to be plugged back in.
Now with Gingerbread finally installed the GPS lock is virtually instant, the apps/widgets are likewise, almost instant. The battery seems to be a bit better. I took it off the charger at 4pm and its still at 25% at this time (12:49am).
As odd as it seems, I look back and am thankful for the buggy G2X. While I really liked my Nexus One, I never really delved into the community much. It was a solid phone and never had any problem, save for the complete lack of space to put apps on it. The buggy G2x lead me to this wonderful forum which was full of people with helpful opinions and great tips. Through the assistance of everyone here I learned a lot more about the Android system and about phones in general. Coming from a big PC background (I like building and fixing them) I liked that the Android OS provided me with similar work around that I did when working on PC's.
So, while the initial experience with the phone was nightmarish, in retrospect I really learned something, it's good to know that there is a group of people dedicated to making sure we get the best out of our phones and freeing us from the shackles of the providers limitations on the phones (rooting rocks!!)
A note to T-Mobile and LG. Why did you rush this phone?!?! I would have gladly waited till July for a fully functional phone. Without Gingerbread this is one of the most powerful phones in the universe, with Gingerbread it can now take advantage of that power. It's not like the competition was putting out anything much better than the MyTouch4g at that time, yes the Atrix, but that was a buggy nightmare too. So what if the Sensation beat this to market, this has stock android, an arguably better (supported at least) GPU, and is rootable. I would have waited. Look right now, for my criteriahttp://blogs.computerworld.com/16755/android_user_interface for a phone my options are currently the G2X, Nexus S and....can't really think of anything else... So seriously, coming from a Nexus One, the obvious choice is the G2X. I would think that a decent chunk of the people reading this would agree.
same here
I was one of the lucky ones to have a G2x without issues
stock phone not rooted, update went thru without problems and the phone feels snappier; I do miss the original LG camera app though
It's good to hear everyone is happy with their phone...now I won't have to read about everyone jumping ship to the sensation.

uhhhh try restarting the phone first and see if that fixes it... otherwise you are going to have to throw CWM on there and restore to stock and try doing the update again OR wait until there is a flashable bootloader posted up which is likely to be soon...

I tried Super 1 Click Root 1.9.5 but no go. Has anyone succeeded in getting root after updating to 2.3.3? Please share your root info.
Thanks in advance.

It's still there, :-( I guess I must have hit the dismiss button in my sleep yesterday morning when the alarm went off. I woke up before the alarm sounded this morning, and there was the pop-up, same as always. Oh, well...
