[Q] HTC Desire Rom Loading Issues - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I have taken the step to root my desire handset using Unrevoked3 but have now come to the start of my problems.
I have downloaded many roms and tried to load them to the phone using the step by step methods posted with each rom, the phone fails to load any of the new roms I have downloaded and is dissplaying the following messages each time:
E:signature lengh doesn't match Eoco marker
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
Bad
My phone details are as follows:
Firmware: 2.1-update 1
Kernal: 23.44.00.32u_5.09.0530_2 ~ [email protected] 18-2#1
Build: 1.15.405.4 CL155070 release-keys
HBoot: 0.80.0000
Radio: 5.09.05.30_2
If anyone is able to offer any help it would be most helpfull.
If I wanted to unroot the phone and return it to a stock HTC build can I just install the Android 2.2 software update? I have tried to load a pre Froyo upadate but because the Hboot version on my phone is 0.80 it fails to install because you can't for some reason downgrade the Hboot.
The Froyo update has a Hboot of 0.90 so is it ok to download and install this to return the phone to stock HTC OS?

I'm new to rooting so please bare with me, the recovery is clockwork I beleave? it's the recovery system installed by Unrevoked3.
I can confirm I have super user permissions and the rooting completed ok with the unrevoked 3 software.
I don't think I'm technically inclinded enough to get to grips with running roms and messing about with rooting.
If you don't mind helping with easy to follow tips it would be most appreciated.
I think if it's possible to return my phone to stock HTC software it would better, I should have looked into the loading roms side of the rooting before jumping in to messing about with the phone.

I have tried that I'm sorry to say and the flash still fails to install? I must be doing something wrong, I can't beleave that all the Rom's I havetried to install fail.
I don't really know what to do next, I have even been in contact with HTC about returning the phone and have them reflash the origional software
The phone was on Orange uk but I ended up getting a code to unlock it, the next thing that bugged me was the pre installed software that Orange install as part of the os hence the rooting to debrand, now I can't even get any room to flash to the rooted phone.

Have you already downloaded rom manager from the market to make an ext on sd card? Or have you tried to load in amon ra recovery?

When loading the roms all I have done is copy them right onto the memory card and then used clockworkmod to try to install the update rom?
I didn't know you needed to make an ext [partition]?? on the sd card?
I did install rom manager .. but wasn't aware what the software is supposed to be used for?
I don't now what amon ra is or how you use it?
I hope I can get the phone to except thr loading of custom roms I like the idea of being able to totally control what software is installed to the phone and also giving some of the really good looking Roms listed on Xda a try.
Thank you for your help

[Guide] How to apply the new OTA 3.29.651.5 when you have clockwork and s-off

This guide will allow you to install the new OTA 3.29.651.5 when you have clockwork installed and will guide you into re-rooting the phone afterwards. (This does NOT wipe your data)
I am sorry if someone already posted this.
Requirements
1. Froyo 2.2 version 3.26.651.6 (Stock)
2. Clockwork
3. S-OFF
Files to Download (If you have a file manager on your phone you can just direct download them with the EVOs browser)
1. OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5 This is the new OTA update
2. ClockworkMod recovery for EVO 4G Clockwork (I know you already have it. This is to reinstall it)
3. su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip Superuser (This is also to reinstall)
Step one
Place OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5 on your SD cards root folder. Power off and reboot holding Volume down. Once the bootloader is up goto recovery so clockwork loads up. Choose apply zip from sd card. Choose select zip on sd card. You will see the OTA file on the list flash it. Just wait for it to install it will reboot the phone show a progress bar reboot again they show a percentage etc it takes a few minutes.
Now you have the update installed, but the update removed clockwork and root.
Step two
Place ClockworkMod recovery for EVO 4G on your sd card root folder. Power off and reboot holding Volume down. The bootloader will scan the new will and ask you to press Volume up to install. Install it.
Now you have clockwork installed again. Please remove the clockwork file from the root of your SD card before going to step 3.
Step Three
Place su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip on the SD cards root folder. Power off and reboot holding Volume down. Once the bootloader is up goto recovery so clockwork loads up. Choose apply zip from sd card. Choose select zip on sd card. You will see the SU file on the list flash it.
Now you are updated and rerooted. (I have been told it is possible to just rerun unrevoked instead of doing step 2 and 3. I did not test that method. I am simply showing a different method.)
Update
I am now getting 53 FPS with FPS 2D
Nice, similar to what I did, thanks for posting this guide. Saves time, I will refer people to this thread.

Good guide...but have you seen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790342 Apparently there is issue at present after the OTA that prevents S-On so you can return your phone, if necessary.
Guide would be even more helpful if you put in the Amon RA option for those that prefer it, then retitle thread.

Agree with you but look at some of the other threads on rooting, etc. and it's amazing how many folks are determined to do the OTA...this gives a good reference link to use for them.

Amon RA gets more difficult as it requires you to flash the engineering bootloader 0.76.2000 to have it work properly...

So if we have the Eng bootloader this will work? ie, it's not just for unrevoked users?
Do you have to make a nandroid backup or anything before doing this? Also when you flash back the clockwork mod will it gives full root access s-off again? Thanks
I'm seeing alot of posts saying we have to wipe before we flash the rooted ROM. How come the OTA doesn't require losing all your settings/data, but flashing the update does? That's the only thing holding me back...

No it will not, you will lose root if you have not run unrevoked forever to set s-off permanently. The eng boot loader's s-off would be overwritten and root would be lost.

I used the Amon_RA with 0.76.2000 engineering bootloader PC36IMG.ZIP found in the forums. Then just reflashed the su app, coming from the 3.26 stock rooted via unrevoked 3.21.

This does NOT I repeat NOT wipe the phone.
This is not a rooted ROM. This is the official update. (This is why you don't have to wipe the phone)
The issue is with clockwork installed you cant install the official update unless you install it through clockwork. This is what step 1 in the guide tells you how to do.
Step 2 and 3 tell you how to get clockwork and root back after the update removes them. (Note you must have S-OFF or step 2 and 3 will not work)
Perfect for us unrEVOked users. The only change I saw was the superuser icon/interface is slightly different than the little ninja guy that unrEVOked gives us.
Thanks!

I understand now... that makes sense. If that's the case, then I'm thinking updates are cumulative.. I'm still on 1.47, since the original Froyo broke audio streaming. I was waiting for that fix to be officially pushed down before I update (by the way, does this update officially fix that?). I'm assuming I have to install the previous update first, before I do this one.

Yes you must have the previous update. (to make sure no one messed up I made sure to state that in the requirements)
What audio streaming is broken? I am not having any issues on this update or original Froyo?
Wish I saw this before I flashed the rooted version. Oh well, I know now for next time.
Good guide.

Pandora and Lastfm audio quality bit-rates were downgraded pretty badly. I use those alot. Google created a patch, and the devs here jumped on it, but it seemed that every implementation was breaking something else, so I wanted to wait for an official HTC push.
Failed to install update from SD card
so I've tried this w/ ROM Manager, boot to recovery, select OTA zip, blah blah blah
when it goes to precheck for update it fails w/ something similar to:
Finding...
Opening...
Installing...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/HtcFootPrints.odex", "14a8............", "b67e214............")
E:Error in /sdcard/OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I'm guessing this is because I previously removed some of the stock apps it's trying to update...
Any workaround?
Great guide, thanks for the contrib.
did not work for me, apparently because i don't have flicker and some other system apps installed the update fails, i get an error when it verifies the system.

[Q] recovery

Hi Guys,
Got a bit of a problem, got a sensation xe and tonight i did the s-off and rooted then tried to put a new rom on but it just bootlooped so went to recovery and did a restore and all was ok,
rooted it again and put the PG58IMG back on did the update then it just went as far as the beats logo and looped.
i tried to get into recovery but it wouldnt go and just kept saying no image or wrong image every time i tried, i read some similar threads to this and so eventually i took out the sd card and then got back into recovery but doing a restore didnt work,
took the sd card out and using the pc deleted the PG58IMG which i thought might be causing the problem, tried recovery and it started again but on rebooting it just bootloops again, can anybody help me?
Need to know exactly what you did at the time of flashing? What steps have you done and what ROM?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G XE with Beats Audio using xda premium

Ok i followed the guide on here....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 got s-off and root.
tried to super cid and couldnt get it done anyway got s-off and rooted put the PG58IMG in root updated and then took it out of root then tried to put the darkforest sensation xe ics 3.2.1 rom on, got bootloop then went to recovery and did a restore, everything was then ok.
Checked the phone and it was unrooted so did another complete backup looked to see what might be wrong and i thought i had put the wrong PG58IMG on so i went and put what i thought was the right PG58IMG on updated it and then rebooted and it went into a bootloop.
Tried to do a recovery but would not allow it it just kept running through "no image" then "wrong image" then "no image" and so on.
Tried to get into recovery but wouldnt move down so after reading a similar thread i pulled the sim and got into recovery selected the first of the two restore options and it was restoring from cwd rebooted and it started on a bootloop again going to the beats logo this time.
Thank for your help btw.
Forgot to add it was the revolution system. Thanks for any help!

To install ICS roms you need an additional step. Before installing the rom you should supercid and install the new ICS firmware. You can find the link on the second line of darkforest sensation xe ics 3.2.1.
If don't want to supercid follow the instruction here and download the firmware package for your CID (3.24, revolutionary or normal).
Install the new firmware.
Remove the PG58IMG from your sd card
Install the ICS rom.

You don't root with PG58IMG, that's for the custom recovery. Have you installed the su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip file from the guide?
Hi, yes i have the su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip installed and have removed the PG58IMG from the sd card, but as i say the thing is just boot looping after the beats logo and i would like to find out the next steps to get things back to normal?
Thanks grandelama can you tell me my next move to get back to normal and out of bootloop?
What ROM do you currently have on your phone that doesn't boot? Stock or Darkforest or something else? I'm not sure what rom you restored from the backup... If you restored the Darkforest rom and didn't install the correct firmware as Grandelama said, it will get stuck in a bootloop. If you did install the firmware, try reinstalling the Darkforest rom.
Otherwise, to get your phone working, just do a full wipe in recovery and try to install any gingerbread based rom, for example Android Revolution HD 3.6.13 from here. It should install fine and get your phone to a working condition. Then you can try to get superCID and install the firmware if you want to use ICS roms.
If you have Clockworkmod working and are going to install custom roms anyway, you don't need to worry about installing the su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip file, since all those custom roms are already rooted.
If you have completed without errors the points 1, 2 and 3 of the guide, and you can use Clockworkmod recovery you are now ready to install any NON ICS rom like Android Revolution HD 3.6.13.
Run the superwipe script in Android revolution HD thread, install the 3.6.13 rom and you should boot up allright
If you want to use an ICS rom your missing a step (new firmware) and you need to follow the instructions I gave you in the last post.
Ok thanks guys, i'll try that and let you know how i get on.
Dr Madman i tried the dark forest rom but it wouldnt load so went into recovery and went back to the original stock gingerbread then thinking i had put the wrong 58img changed it and updated but it just bootloaded so did a cwm restore and it still bootloads.
I'm still not sure just what to do next because i'm afraid i might make things worse.
I went into recovery then to backup and restore and then restore and this time restored the second image that was there in CWM it went thru all the recovery, asked to reboot and when i did it still keeps bootlooping.
Why is CWM not getting me back to stock?
Grandelama i'm certain i did what you suggested in your first post but got bootloop after that and CWM got me back but it hasnt worked this time!
Dr Madman,, i could do a wipedata/factory rest wipe cache partition and install Android Revolution HD 3.6.13 because its on the sd card but to be honest i'm just to frightened to at the moment, basically i wanted to go to restore and have it back as stock but it wont! and now i'm not sure which way to go?

If you did what I suggested you have installed the 3.24 firmware for ICS roms, am I right?
Can you tell which exact version did you install? Where did you download it from? The one from the Kohr-Ah thread...mike1986's version or what?
If you installed mike1986's version without Supercid first you will bootloop with both ICS and Gingerbread roms.
yes
Yes i am certain i did but not sure which one, heads all over the place with this, anyway i will check and get back to you.
Thanks.
Grandelama i think? this is the one i used......DOWNLOAD 3.24 Revolutionary: http://goo.gl/82UpA
MD5: 74e67609f67c3ad6ab94cdb89f19f2fa
Is there a way to find out for sure for you?
Thanks
Do you still have on your pc the zip package you used? If that's the case you can find the md5 of your file and with that you can know which firmware package you installed.
Maybe it's a stupid question, but can you tell me which is exactly your CID? What is the output you get with "fastboot getvar cid"? Are 100% you sure you installed exactly the firmware package for your CID?
Grandelama, firstly thanks for your help, i have a hero that i have rooted and had at least a dozen different roms on from 1.6 thru to 2.3 never had a problem but its been a while and this xe is it seems more complicated, either that or my brains going (more likely) anyway the CID is HTC--001 and the MID is pg5813001.
I will look and see what i have and let you know.
The phone i take it is not yet bricked??? so i really dont want to do anything to screw that up(unless its too late?)
I ran restore and got back to normal, should have left it at that but didnt and cant understand why it wont work this time, i thought thats what it was for.
Anyway i will get back to you with what info i have and thanks again
no, not now 100 sure!
Htc driver 3.0.0.007
v4.3.233.pub.odex.zip
revolutionary -0.4pre4
su-2.3.63-efgh-
darkforest sensation xe ics 3.2.1
PG58IMG
Android revolution hd sensation 3.6.13
This is what else i have plus i have a xe backup folder on the pc if this is of any use ?
is this what you are asking for?

Hi,
i had the exact same problem and yesterday i solved it. I tried to flash the latest InsertCoin ICS ROM and failed to first install the new Firmware. When i realized this, i did it but forgot to check the CID, wich was not in the FW-zip.. so.. my phone just bootlooped, came to the splashscreen the rebooted. Your phone is not bricked.
This is what i did to solve it:
First i got Super-CID wich you can read about in this thread: [Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on .. it took me about 30 sec to get Super-CID, its very easy if you just read the text.
Then i flashed the new Firmware (3.24.401.1 RUU) that you can find here [DEV] HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE firmware | Partitions Info | [22.01.2012]
After that i just flashed the ROM like before and voila, it worked.
Hope it helped some.

[Q] [URGENT!] Bootlooping due to flash wrong PG58IMG

Hi all,
I have a problem with my Sensation due to my own fault.
I want to flash ARHD ICS rom to my phone, and I started with rooting my Sensation. I followed all instruction til installing the Recovery (PG58IMG).
I downloaded two versions of PG58IMG (one for ICS and one for the other), but I copied the firmware for ICS version to my SD card and already installed it. Now, my phone already S-off but cannot reboot into homescreen. It keeps rebooting it self in white hTC screen (after I installed the ICS firmware).
I don't know how to fix. I tried to read the troubleshoot in the post but I still cannot fix it. Does anyone have a solution??
Thanks in advance

If I understand you correctly you flashed the firmware upgrade BEFORE you flashed the new ICS rom? If so you'll need to get your sdcard card out (and get your computer to read it) so you can rename the PG85img on your sdcard so you can get back into recovery so you can flash the new ICS rom.

Yes, I flashed the upgraded firmware before not only I flashed ICS rom, but also I get rooted. Now, I can't flash any rom as well as su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip or su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip.
It still keep bootlooping. I tried to flash the other firmware, but it showed 'CID incorrect'. I don't know how to fix now
Did you check MD5 Sums before you flashed the ROM because it sounds like a bad download so re-download the ROM and reflash

I did check MD5 sums for all files I downloaded and it is corrected.
Now, I'm curious that whether it is possible to flash the upgraded firmware before being rooted.
And of course you need to be using the right version of the firmware for the rom you want to flash. Mike's latest uses 3.24 per here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
I don't know if you can get into fastboot or not, but you should be able to check the CID of your phone there, and download the right firmware for your phone. If your phone is carrier independent (i.e. didn't get on contract) then the HTC__xxx variety should be good.

Thank you so much for your link. I can boot my Sensation into the homescreen now. For my problem, I have to download and flash the older version (3.17) to fix it.
Thanks all of you for your reply again.
+1 for me, solve with a new download .
Just flash the Mod, the bootloop is normal.
I got the same problem, before i flashed Revolution Rom i used that radio package. After the radio package flash, my phone wass stuck in a bootloop.
I took the memory card out en removed the zip file en flashed the revolution rom. After that my phone started normal.
SOrry for the bad enlgish.
Good luck mate.
hey, guys i just had the same problem, kinda. lol
anyways my phone is rooted, s-off and superCID
when i went to install the new ics rom i did everything this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
said to do and when the new root booted up for the first time, it would go up to the beats audio logo,( the ics rom with beats audio (xe)) then like restart back to the htc startup logo, then beats again then htc again, it just kept doing this..??
so i just deleated everything and restored back to origional backup rom.
so what did i do wrong?
a bad download link/file? can u give me a good one?
thanks, any help is greatly appreciated as iam totally lost right now...
edit:
also do i even need this file (PG58IMG.zip.) to flash the ics rom if my phone is superCID ??? iam confused on that part.
nevermind, figured it out and got it work! the new ics is pretty sweet!!
thanks for everything- towards all the developers and testers on here
Cool. The answer is yes of course. The firmware file contains a specific radio / hboot / etc version. The ROM you download and install is dependent on certain combinations of the firmware versions you have. The super cid just allows you to flash any of the firmwares available here... Otherwise you have to find the specific one for your region and/or carrier.
Also, don't forget you can use an adb logcat while your phone is booting to see if you can diagnose any boot-looping issues. Just run that command on your PC with your phone attached via USB cable

hey, guys i just had the same problem, kinda. lol
anyways my phone is rooted, s-off and superCID
when i went to install the new ics rom i did everything this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
said to do and when the new root booted up for the first time, it would go up to the beats audio logo,( the ics rom with beats audio (xe)) then like restart back to the htc startup logo, then beats again then htc again, it just kept doing this..??
so i just deleated everything and restored back to origional backup rom.
so what did i do wrong?

To do so,
1. Download the correct firmware version ( PG58IMG.zip V3.24 ) and copy it to the root of your SDCARD.
Be 200% sure that the downloaded zip file is not corrupted. ( Check the MD5 checksum after you download)
2. Pull Back the battery and wait for a minute.
3. Put the battery and press POWER+VOLUME Down Key together.
4. Your phone will detect the firmware.
5. Follow the screen and complete the flashing.
6. Download the ICS based ROM of your favor.
7. Boot into recovery and flash your rom.

No you didn't do everything the thread said to do because you're stuck in a bootloop. And yes, you must have correct firmware to run any ICS ROM.
1. SuperCID.
2. Load correct firmware for ROM version you wish to flash (there are 3 different firmwares, 3.06, 3.12 and 3.24. Make sure you've got the right one.
Put PG58IMG.zip on the root of your damn SD card.
Put the ROM you want on the root of your damn SD card.
Put a wipe or superwipe script on the root of your damn SD card.
So far it's easy, no?
Boot to bootloader, select FASTBOOT, select yes to update.
Watch the phone. You should see it flash some partitions, reboot itself, then flash the radio and some other crap.
When done you should be at correct HBOOT and radio.
Now, pull the battery. Pull the SD card.
Insert the battery. Start the phone with power + Volume down.
Move cursor to recovery.
Insert SD card and select recovery.
Flash the wipe script, flash the ROM.
Now if you did everything exactly like this, you will boot to normal phone in about 10 minutes or so.
This has been spelled out 50 times in 50 threads, including threads devoted to nothing but this procedure.
Your phone is a machine. It can only do what you tell it to do. If you screw up, it's screwed up. If you do everything exactly right, in the right order, carefully checking each step, your phone will behave.
Try again.
Do it right. Do it carefully.

[Q] ICS OTA - failed to verify whole-file signature

Hi,
I am trying to update my htc sensation with the OTA update for ICS. Unfortunately, i can't make it work.
Current situation:
- S-Off
- Software version: 1.50.401.1
- Stock rom
- I had rooted my phone. But because I wanted to apply this update I restored the /system partition with clockworkmod recovery to a point I didn't have root yet. So the system partition should be all original
- I had clockworkmod recovery, but I restored that to the 1.50.401.1 (stock) recovery to apply this OTA update.
I try to apply the update just the regular way: Settings > About > Software updates > Check now > download/check/install (my phone is Dutch, so maybe it's a little different in English)
The update starts all normal. I get the green update-logo with the progress bar. But on about 20..25 % i see a red question mark, and the phone reboots and starts normally, but is not updated.
I can't figure out what goes wrong. I found on the internet that i can hold the vol-up + power key when I see the red question mark to see the error. This gives me: failed to verify whole-file signature
How can I overcome this error and install the update? Or is there any other way to update the stock rom, without losing data? I can't find a solution on the internet. Can anyone help me?
Thanks!
Greetings, vosManz
Get a custom recovery and flash it that way

So i can apply the official update using, lets say, clockwork 5.0.2.0? And I don't lose any data/apps if i do it this way?
Can you explain me how to do this, or give me a link to a how-to?
(sorry, i'm not really advanced in this. I know how to change the recovery, but not much more than that )

Wrong, you cannot have custom recovery and flash the official ota.
Follow the directions in this guide

Thanks for the reply
That guide looks easy. However, I do still have some questions that I can't figure out reading that topic:
- "You also have to be 100% stock (e.g. NOT rooted)" - Is there any way I can check this? I think I am, but what happens if something went wrong and the update fails? Does it just give an error and reboot in my current rom, or can I brick my device?
- "4. Select 'Recovery' from the menu to enter the stock Recovery. If CWM loads up, stop now and flash the 1.50.401.1 RUU" - I already flashed the stock 1.50.401.1 recovery I extracted from the RUU. So I guess I can skip this step?
- When I use this method, do I lose any of my apps or data?
- If something goes wrong during the update (lets say the phone won't boot anymore), can I flash cwm (using PG58IMG.zip) and restore to a backup I made yesterday? Or isn't this possible because it's (partially) android 4 then?
Sorry for all the questions. It's just that I don't have much experience with this, and I don't want to mess up my device because I don't know if I can fix it afterwards
Thanks very much in advance!

[Q] HTC Boot Loop and no signal using recovery

Hello All,
I will start this thread with the obligatory "Im new to rooting...." sentence but over the last 2 or so weeks have been doing my research between multiple sites (including this one), getting frustrated at how many "How to...but before you do" guides there are out there adn you tube videos but have finally managed to perm root and S-Off my UK Vodafone HTC Sensation.
I have flashed clockwork recovery without a hitch and managed to download the Cynaogen Rom without to much difficulty.
The problem:
While looking for overclocking ROMs, decided that the Virtuous Sensation ROM might be the one for me.
While doing further research, I discovered that I would need to flash the new PG58IMG.zip Firmware before the ROM would work. To do this, I would potentially be required to SuperCID, which I also did.
SuperCID complete and Firmeware flashed (and then removed from the SD card) I wiped the phone (several times following instructions on this site) and then installed the Virtuous ROM.
Now I get stuck on boot loop with the blue "V" showing for a about a second and then restarting.
Following some further internet checking, I found it may be a bad download of the ROM so downloaded again but the same thing happened. I also downloaded a different Virtuous ROM to confirm it was the Virtuous Sensation ROM that was corrupt but the other ROM got stuck on boot loop, albeit, the blue "V" now shoed for about 5 seconds.
I decided to load a recovery and revert back to the Cynaogen ROM except......sometimes its stuck on boot loop and other times it loads but I have no network coverage.
I have two questions:
Why did the new Virtuous ROM not work with the recommended firmware?
and
How can I restore my phone? I am guessing this problem may be the new firmware but I have read that this one works with Gingerbread and ICS?
Any help would be appreciated...preferably in a non "PHD in IT required" way.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
mostly it might be because of Firmware
what firmware you installed (my guess is 3.24 as you said works for both ICS and GB )
but i suggest you to use 3.33 firmware for ICS or above roms and 1.17 For GB roms
here is the firmware thread
OK, just tried flashing the ICS firmware (thanks for reply) from the link you posted, wiped the phone, cache etc and reinstalled ROM.
I get stuck on boot loop but the blue "v" does load for a little longer now.
From doing some more reading I have seen people saying to check MD5 match. Would someone mind explaining what ths is and how to do it?
OK, ignore the MD5 thing, i searched and found and its a match for all downloads.
ROM is an MD5 match also.
Tried all firmware and still stuck on boot loop.....
One thing I have noticed is that when I load usig the vol down + power, it sates that the 58IMG is "no image or wrong image"....could this be anything to do with it?

That's generic bootloader function... So its common.. The searching for PG58IMG thing...
Now the best and most effective way is to first cleanup everything usig ruu.. Search for "ruu guide and info" thread by kgs1992 in sensation general section... Use that.. Find the proper ruu and flash it.. Check whether the stock rom(ruu) is flashing or not..If flashing then flash custom recovery and flash your custom rom again

Question
I have checked through a few forums and just want to clarify something before I go down the RUU route:
Will flashing the RUU to stock mean I lose S-Off or perm root? You say I will have to flash a custom recovery image again so I guess that means flashing clockworkmod through HBoot but will I then be expected to flash further firmware?
Thanks, Ill give the RUU thing a go.
I tried all the firmware with te Virtuous ROM and nothing worked but then one of the bottom firmware donloads (3.24 I think, cant remember know following multiple downloads) and booted the recovery.
Now I have signal again!
Thanks for advice, I will try the RUU thing....
Cheers

RUU means everything to stock except SOFF ..so you would lose custom recovery, perm root .but the best part is as you still have SOFF ..you can just flash a custom recovery again ..and flash su zip for perm root again ..done voila
and SOFF means ..yes you can flash any firmware
Thanks for all you help mate, in the end i found Cyanogen 10 ROM which does everything I want so followed all instructions and works fine now.
Thanks again for being patient with a nub......much appreciated!:laugh::laugh::laugh:
