If i unrooted my htc evo is there anyway of keeping all of my settings and apps. Is using titanium back the only way? And if it is, is there a way to backup my settings and other stuff like alarms? Please let me know.

I was wondering if you need to reinstall factory apps(browser, home, car dock, etc..)(I prefer after market apps for those) or will they automatically be reinstalled on factory reset. Also do i need to unroot or uninstall titanium backup, root explorer, and any other apps that require root. My purpose is to reset the phone back to the way it was the first time i ever turned it on. Thanks in advance for the info.
Droid2 Rooted.
Stock Kernel and OS.
hey there,
not to sound sarcastic, apols if it comes over that way, but you kinda answered your own question there.
.....if you factory reset (like it was the day it was made) then expect exactly that.
Not taken that way at all. I am kinda new to this stuff, good with computers and stuff just new to the phones. Maybe i can be more specific. I used titanium backup to remove some system apps you can only remove when rooted. I was going to use the hold down x while turning the phone on method. Then selecting the wipe data/factory reset option. My question's are- Do i need to unroot before doing this? Will this reinstall the apps deleted by titanium backup or did i really screw up by deleting them(stupidly used the free version of titanium, instead of paid, so only saved the data of system apps, not the app itself)? Thanks again and sorry for the unclarity of my first post.
Bumpity bump
Hello forum members,
Im new to this and will try to keep it simple and short. I have an HTC Evo (rooted through unrevoked) running on a 2.2 android system. I got carried away and deleted my htc messenger stock app using the titanium backup app. Now my handcent app, nor any other messenger app I download wont work properly. When I try to go back to titanium backup, it doesnt give me a re-install option. Is there any way to re-install the stock messenger app. (By the way, I know nothing about flashing Roms)
Factory reset to restore it.
No Good, the factory reset was the first thing I did after backing up my apps on my sdcard. The funny thing is all the other stock apps returned except that one.
This is probably a stupid question. I just rooted my Inspire using the simple root tool. If I try some other ROMs, will I have to set everything up again? Program data seemed preserved, though I'm not sure how, but I had to place all my icons back on the home screens and set up email accounts again. I hope there's a way to switch ROMs without having to go through all this work again. I appreciate any advice!

there are different partitions on your phone. boot, system, data, and cache. if you dont format data then all your programs and settings will stay.
but if you are switching to a rom that does not have sense (ie cm7) then you must do a full wipe of everything.
Thanks! I'm really looking to try the ROMs with Sense.

Titanium backup is key.
Does anyone know why my contacts app would force close on me when i choose a contact?
have you erased any system apps?
Solved
I think that i might have but not sure. Im new to this rooting thing. My bf paid for the titanium pro cause of that reason. I know i did that to my messaging cause when i did the clockworkmod factory restore it wasnt there so i have handcent now. I dont know what to do.
you should maybe download and flash your phone's stock rom again
Okay so I stupidly rooted my EVO LTE without first creating a backup to restore to. Is there anyway to completely unroot and go back to the original sense ROM? I am really stressing out about this and need help. I don't care about having my apps or anything when I'm done, I just want to generally have it back to the way it was out of the box...
