So ever since I have updated my evo to 2.2 my gmail doesnt push. sometimes one account will but the other wont. I have to manually update it to see new mail. I am not rooted . I used the Mybackup app to back my phone up and did a complete reinstall of stock software. That did nothing except not my contacts wont sync with my gmail. it sucks. Please offer help if you know anything.
My second part is that I was thinking of trying Root out by useing unrevoked. which unrevoked should I use? and what is the difference. Im new to this. My main reason for rooting is to use the wifi hotspot. any thoughts? I also was wondering if I root does it wipe my phone and all settings? and if I want to un-root later will that also wipe my phone back to factory and lose all my data and customizations? any help would be great. thanks!
someone has to be able to help in here. please
Hello forum members,
Im new to this and will try to keep it simple and short. I have an HTC Evo (rooted through unrevoked) running on a 2.2 android system. I got carried away and deleted my htc messenger stock app using the titanium backup app. Now my handcent app, nor any other messenger app I download wont work properly. When I try to go back to titanium backup, it doesnt give me a re-install option. Is there any way to re-install the stock messenger app. (By the way, I know nothing about flashing Roms)
Factory reset to restore it.
No Good, the factory reset was the first thing I did after backing up my apps on my sdcard. The funny thing is all the other stock apps returned except that one.
I rooted and installed TB on a friends infuse, he preceded to erase accounts and sync on accident while he was dumping some att stuff. At least that is what he says.
I tried restore from TB and it just hangs. So then I force closed tb.
any advice?
On his batch menu in tb "accounts and sync" has that black strikethrough through it.
I'm not quite sure what he did exactly, but before I gave him back the phone I made a backup in tb. But this isn't working, so I'm looking for a solution.
thanks for any help.
I'm fastboot , adb proficient, but Im no expert.
Having made the backup with TB of the apps. I would suggest using Odin to restore back to stock and then you can restore the apps back onto the phone with TB. Remember, just apps... not system data. There may be a more simple solution, but this should work.
yup, i'm thinking that to. I was just reading about odin. I tried just a factory reset and then rerooted but it doesn't show up.
thanks dude
seems like I would need the apk and one other file? if I could just get those copies if someone wanted to email them
I was contemplating the option of the files as well, but I don't know if uninstalling them, however he did it, removed anything else or just the apk. Even on that note, I'm not 100% certain if getting the apk from someone else would fix it, but I suppose it is worth a shot.
I didn't want to go as far as a custom recovery on a phone that this guys knows nothing about. That and I don't know anything about samsung.
looks like I'm going with Stock_Deodexed_Root_NoBloat.zip
or would GTG's_Ultimate_Unbrick.zip be better? oops, I meant this one
Odin_UCKE3_v2.zip
I think the Ultimate Unbrick is a safe choice. It returns you completely to stock as well as removes root and the custom recovery(if you have it).
It's a decent option for anyone looking to revert back to where they started.
Obviously the stock+modded recovery and root is a nice option as well so that you don't have to do the steps separately, but that's up to you.
thanks for your help.
I don't think I'll ever get away from nexus phones after seeing what's behind this.
Hi i have a g2x and i rooted it to be able to delete bloatware after that i unrooted it and now after 2 months it is acting weird after i recently factory reset it because it kept overheating.
Now the googleplay store acts funny i have 4g internet but its downloading my apps way way way slower than it should be
When i connect to the internet and try to download apps it just says connection error or connection not found (one of the two)
Sometimes with the wifi it says obtaining IP then the connection dissapears then comesback saying obtaining IP address over and over again never connecting
I am at a lost now seeing factory resetting isnt solving this. I tried to flash the stock rom but that did not work
as of now it is rooted and has CWM only which i was able to install through my computer to it. its on clockwork mod 4. something
is there anyone to start over like a method that will reset my phone to how it was when i first got it with all the bloatware and stuff. Like for my pc id just reinstall windows and my pc is new with all drivers reinstalled and everything, is there an equivilant of that for phones?
Well, I'm assuming that you never made a nandroid backup? Because if you did made one before removing anything i would restore it...but since you're asking these questions I'm assuming that you didn't make a nandroid. What bloatware did you specifically remove? I know that removing certain "bloatware" can be dangerous which is why I dont actually remove anything, a safer option is to just freeze them using titanium backup. Did you restore to factory conditions using NVflash? Also, what do your APN settings look like?

Search for "ROM for recovery". That nvflash would take you back to stock, but you will lose everything on internal sdcard so make sure to backup.

Hello,
My GFs phone has suddenly decided to crash almost every app as soon as you open them. I've decided that I'm going restore her phone.
Problem is that I need to backup her text messages. Seeing how SMS Backup and Restore, SMS Backup+, and similar apps won't work, I was wondering if there is a solution to transfer via USB or something similar that doesn't require an app.
Thanks!

Titanium backup does it. provided your phone is rooted.
There is also an app on the pc called syncios. that wont require root
My advice, Since you are already reseting your phone(which is the most tedious step reqd to root) i think you should just unlock bootloader and root and then install stock cm13 or any other rom if you want.
Use bacon root toolkit for the same. google it.

Thanks for your response! Fortunately apps started randomly working again, so I was able to use SMS Backup & Restore to make a backup.
I'm going to help her return to stock CM, because she's on Oxygen OS right now, and turns out they haven't had a security update since 2015 (GULP!).
