This is a flaw of text based communication, you can't really infer tone/intent/feelings unless it was blatant flaming. I agree with you. I don't flame at all, but I have read over a lot of these threads. With that said, I think some of these developers are just overly sensitive about remarks on an internet board. I think you have to assume there will be assholes participating on open internet forums and prepare yourself for such...this is just how it is.

There will always be people who are rude and obnoxious, and that is what banning is for. However, some people don't even realize that they are being rude. That is who this is for.
Its kinda sad how much drama we have now. But like always xda will keep on keepin on

I also believe when a trillion billion people say... "SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH" it helps most of the time..
It is a message board, you will have people being dicks...and you will have people that aren't dicks. We have a report button for a reason, however it seems to take a little while for things to happen even when reported. I know I have reported threads and people before and nothing changed. I even asked for a PM if what I was reporting was incorrect. But it isn't just about people flaming. It is people taking words out of context. I like to joke around and if I put a JK after a normally demeaning remark to me it makes it a joke and playful. However at least twice have people gotten on my case as if I was being an asshole because of the comment even though it is clearly stated in the post as being a joke. It is everyone, and it is our job to police.
Adam seemed to do a decent job with Axura, after Master created it and Hansmrtn continued the project. I don't know what he did other than what most other people seem to do with these and piece together components they like and package it into a zip. It does seem like some do more than others but you have to take criticism. Now, badgering and cussing at a person has no place on the forum, and those that do need to leave. That is the Moderators job. Adam left because either he could not take the fact that the Rom he took over had issues he could not control, or because we were not doing our job policing and having Moderators take care of people going out of their way to berate an individual.
And no offense to you but you seem to be trying to become a Mod with all of your threads created. What exactly are your motivations here, is it to question the people on the board and how we act, or are you trying to show that you can do a better job than those already in position?
Don't worry.. about the people that flame there are more people that don't even post that love the work that is being done here..

Since you brought that up, I was trying to figure that out as well.
if somebody is offended by what a person says on the internet, they probably shouldnt be here in the first place. I find it hard to believe anybody intelligent enough to provide good dev work for a device to be bothered by this.

If you are referring to my stickied guides, I am not a developer, I do not know how to make a ROM. However, I still wish to contribute to XDA. So I have done that by creating guides to both help struggling users and keep the forums clear of useless questions. I am in no way trying to prove anything, I am simply trying to help other users. I posted this specific thread because I was sick of what was going on and the moderators weren't doing enough.

Rule of thumb i use, if I do not like a rom, I flash another without commenting. If I do not like an aspect of a rom and I change something and feel it is an improvement I post but say it in respect. Who am I to criticize those who create here? There is plenty to say but discretion is an overlooked virtue

You're the one making the big deal. If all you wanted to do was get a message across, put that message in your signature. Was it really necessary to create a new thread with that title?

This is my captivate. There are many like it buy this one is mine.
he may not actually create content, but he does put effort into organizing it ( from what i've seen in his wikis and whatnot ). whether or not thats worth donating for isnt anyones decision but those using his guides.

i see where your coming from, but bear in mind your in the general section of the 4g, not the android development. You have to expect a bit of white noise every now and then.

Too many people whining. If you want to whine then I suggest you A) Don't post and get a new phone or B) If there's something REASONABLE that you don't like about the phone make a post with constructive criticism and post what RESEARCH you have done for possible fixes in order to IMPROVE the phone so that other devs can possibly find a fix.
Honestly we don't. If you do want to whinge do it in a single thread that way when people want to create RPMs they cans see what people think is wrong. Seriously if you just bought the phone then go trade it in!

I don't feel my post was whining, crying, or moaning in any way. My post was more statement of honest and open opinion towards the maturity levels of some members and the reiteration of the need to focus on this phone's advancement.

I am not on a phone forum to discuss "feelings." I was pointing out that you are doing exactly, or even worse, what you are accusing others of doing. Let me point out to you that this is a Vibrant 4G Forum, the subject of your thread is "people" and not "the Vibrant 4G", or any phone at all, therefore you are posting in the wrong forum, and there is nothing productive at all about your thread. Please before posting a thread read the stickies. This is clearly a "flaming thread" and according to the stickies you can actually be temporarily banned for this.

Which makes much more sense, and is probably what you should have done in the first place sir.
You'll never get away from complaints, they are going to happen. Period. The only way to avoid them is to never, ever, communicate with anyone, for any reason.
Granted, a lot of the complaints here could be done a tad more constructively, instead of just sounding like a *****fest about a phone the user failed to research properly before purchasing...
I have found some quirks with mine, so I came to this section of the forums to look for answers, found what I needed, put it into play, resolved some of my issues, and expect the rest to be fixed as well, eventually.
Kick back, relax, and if you don't want to read their whining, don't read it... kinda like a delete key with spam...

I came from a G1, so honestly this phone is fine. Plus I'm a developer so honestly the usual complaints:
THE BATTERY LIFE SUCKS!
I have mine plugged in all day so I don't even notice.

Honestly only thing I am complaining about this phone is battery, light/ medium use will barely get me through the day. Other than the battery, this phone is great, and I'm coming from a 6 year old flip phone soooo yeah. Huge difference.

1) There is no valid argument here.
2) Everyone is contradicting themselves by whining on a post about no whining.
If hearing people complain is too much, then leave. Not everyone is tech savvy, nor do they posses any type of adult literacy. Seeing it is below 10%. People can look for solutions themselves. If you guys see someone complain, message them and give them a piece of your mind. But don't do it here, you are defeating the purpose.

My point is that this community is here to help each other get the most out of their technology. There are many of us who sincerely attempt to answer questions and help people troubleshoot, not to mention the developers that put in long hours making these phones more useable.
But I've been reading post after post and thread after thead of just whining and its downright childish and non-productive.
If someone has an issue with their phone then let them post and ask questions and contribute to the overall conversation we're all having. All of this self-entitled nonsense about how bad we've ALL been screwed over and how we deserve this and that is uncalled for.

It really makes it super hard to find the legitimate and worthwhile information here(which is plentiful) with all these people looking for controversy and negativity is just not constructive at all. There's a treasure trove of information here hidden within a good ole' fashioned internet "I AM A ENTHUSTIAST AND THIS DOESN"T STACK UP" circle jerk.

I haven't checked out "Quit Your *****in'" post, but I can agree that it is getting really annoying. If your gonna ***** then please feel free to do so in one post and stop making post after post about the same thing. I purposely did not check out a lot of the post complaining about the G2x because I'm personally not facing any of these issues especially since the update. The only issue I am having is the stock camera being dark instead of LG's original camera, so what post do you think I constantly look into? FLAK0's post about porting LG's Camera to Gingerbread. PLEASE LETS FIND A POST THAT FITS YOUR ISSUE AND STICK TO IT! THERE'S TONS OF REPEAT POST SO I AM SURE YOU WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM FINDING YOUR FIX.

Ever phone thread has there core group of whiners....most of the whiners are people who refuse to flash any of the roms or fixes and complain mostly about issues with th stock rom or they complain about how long the next update is taking......I wish this site allowed only those who take advantage of this sites offerings instead of allowing a platform for people to cry

Lol its a beautiful day in Orlando. I'm great to be honest. And I actually am usually not so bothered by other's complaints, especially not to the point of starting a new thread. I think I've only started one other thread on here and it was about features and tips on using the phone. But there has just been something about the way everyone here keeps talking about the G2X that drives me nuts (that reminds me of a pirate joke of you ever want to hear it). A good constructive complaint is actually helpful but most of what has been posted here, especially since this update started rolling out, has been pathetic whining from people about how T-Mobile and LG have F'd them all and how they are entitled to some sort of retribution. It really is nonsense.
The G2X is one of the fastest and most powerful phones on the market. It had some hiccups at first but its getting better. The software update came out fairly quickly in my opinion. And we have greet dev support for this phone. I don't see much to complain about. No product is perfect, ever. That's why you modify and make it your own and figure out how to improve it to suit your own needs.
Do I let people get to me usually? No. But it is getting out of hand here. Maybe me posting this doesn't help a thing but maybe someone will read it and take a step back and look at how awesome this phone really is.

I say again. IMO, you people who are complaining about the whiners are bigger whiners. This qualifies as needless harassment of people who are just trying to get some straight answers about their phones.
If you go to the LG site, you will see that the responses to legitmate questions are still being ignored. There are still many people who cannot download the update at all. The camera is screwed up ? It's a failure when so many people are having problems. It looks to me like the ones that are bad in the first place are still not working after the update.
I resent my fellow xdaers attacking me and others and I resent the name calling. I sincerely feel that all of you making these comments are worse than me who is simply standing up for my rights. If you want to be an apologist who thinks because you have a good phone or few problems the rest of us should just roll over that's fine. But I stand by my opinions. And I'll continue to patricipate in the discussions which is my right and prerorative.
Bottom line? Polls are still being made that show the rate of unhappiness or bad phones is at least 2 out of 3 or worse.
And sorry, but I still think that each of you who continues to dog people are the biggest jerks here . Why don't you just SHUT THE HELL UP. You've all repeated it over and over. Ok I'm a newer member here, but not to hacking and yes I posted a thread yesterday about the HTC reps givin the ok to state that the Thunderbolt would be getting Gingerbread in the 3rd quarter. I only put it up because it was being reported on other forums and maybe just maybe someone would care....

You cant post on the Development board unless you have 10 post???So how does somebody get thier if the put up something and it's slamed all over. this is exactly what I'm talking about, there isn't much info here anymore they all took it to other sights. I'm pretty laid back personaly but I had to have a say about what I've seen here since March when I got my Thunderbolt..I*'m not complaining just stating facts and it seems that alot of people agree..

I don't remember reading anything anywhere that stated you had the authority to say who can/cannot post here, or whether or not they should "go somewhere else."
The OP makes a good point. What's worse, someone making an observation that might help others think twice before they slam someone, or someone replying to a post with no other motive than to play king and tell someone s/he is stupid and telling s/he to go somewhere else?
It's pretty obvious which is the more mature of the two methods.
There have been times where I thought someone's information was lacking credibility. I've asked questions, but haven't taken cheap shots. What's the point?

Exactly why Team Bamf left...I haven't checked these forums since Bamf left and this is one of the first things I see! Another reason why Bamf will always be the best, with the best Devs, Themers, Contributors, members, etc! Glad to be a member of such a great team of devs and themers! I have seen some extremely helpful people on here thats why i come here. I do go to other forums for some things because thats where the dev's for certain things went. Some people have been treated very unfairly on this forum and no it shouldn't be like that. Personally I have had people say stupid stuff to me but in the end ya gotta realize with this many people on here there are bound to be those with no social skills at all who's intellectual capacity goes just below the Waterboy. Block em, bleep em or beat em with your own wit. I realize that being on any forum and in fact just being on the internet means there are those who take on internet personas of being the baddest dude in the world. Fuhgeddaboutit. If thats what a person has to do to make themselves feel better i make my comments then i talk around them. I agree with the OP. I frequent completely different sets of threads and it's the same everywhere. Why take the time to post something negative? Why? As much as people complain about contributing to the community, flaming posts certainly do not . Oh well, when something such as the internet exists, some people will use that avenue to be abrasively rude and inconsiderate. Etiquette applies in all social interaction situations, not just in person .

Ya know, its not so much we just wanna beat on a guy. It's that SO MANY threads have been started. Last time the gullible fool even posted a link to a pic to the absolute fakest looking "corporate memo" I'd ever seen. A lot of people were lapping that crap up and I called them idiots then. Some people actually believed a Verizon rep posted in this forum earlier this week too. Uh.... No, that didn't happen either. Between threads like "Verizon says gingerbread is coming!" threads and the horribly mangled English so often used, I'm beginning to think forums in general are magnets for the least intelligent forms of life walking upright. It's not just Android forums. It's forums on just about every subject imaginable. I think its because nobody ever calls someone stupid when they say something really stupid. A great way to flush your credibility down the toilet is to post a thread like you did. XDA is XDA because they tend to hold themselves to a higher standard. Go look at most other android forums. Most of the development threads are copy and pastes of XDA threads. That's not changing. I'm gonna ask real nice that you please think real hard about what you post here. Maybe check to see how many threads exactly like your proposed thread already exist. Lots of people post questions and comments all the time to good reception. It really is just the foolish nature of your subject matter.

I don't jack people off with their own ass-backwards ideas just to get along. I don't say anything here I wouldn't say to your face. Not all ideas are valid and worthy of equal consideration. Stupid NEEDS to be called stupid and made fun of. I'd like to live in a world where when stupid people spoke they got laughed out of the room. I can hardly believe people buy some of the insanity and lies they're sold most of the time.
I'm new to posting myself... I've been waiting in the weeds for sometime now, reading the thread for Synergy ROM for a long time. I've got only 4 or 5 posts as well. So far, I haven't had any bad reactions to posts, PM's or even contacting one of the Devs on G+ for the only issue I couldn't manage to figure out on my own.
To the OP:
Try to remember where you are when you post. You are in a forum that is populated with many experienced, sharp people, who know a great deal about this platform. Those that are the MOST knowledgeable typically don't even post. It's those who *think* they know a lot who do. Sadly, uninformed questions do not simply get ignored. Think of it as walking into a medical convention and asking a large population of surgeons why anesthesia is necessary during surgery. They expect that you know some minimal facts before asking a question.
Sadly, these same intelligent people browse the General and QandA sections for posts such as yours to flame you for no reason. Not everyone here is that way, but clearly there are many.
I lurked here for a year, before ever signing up and posting anything simply because it was clear some knowlege is necessary to root, mod, theme and customize your phone. And it was clear that many of my questions had already been answered simply by looking.
Don't get discouraged, read, then read some more. There is a lot to learn, but most of it isn't that hard. And don't pay any attention to the negativity - it only feeds the problem.

I'm from the Vibrant section, and I have some questions for you Galaxy S 4G users, please do know I searched around, but I thought it'd be best to have all the information anyone had on this particular topic all in one thread, so if anyone feels this is useless, feel free to delete it, I'm just trying to gain some knowledge. My girlfriend has a GS4G, and although the devs have done a great job modding Samsung's ROMs.. they don't compare to AOSP ROMs in my opinion.
Now, for the questions.
1. Why is it we can't get a working kernel to boot for the GS4G? (Someone please do explain in detail.)
2. How far has someone gone/gotten? (I know krylon handed the work to someone, but I don't think they've reported back?)
And please, no stupid answers. This is pure discussion. If a kernel dev is what we need, I could try to find one that's willing to work with me, but we'd need testers and such.
From what I heard and read around, you guys don't have any devs thats capable of doing that.

We are already working on this now. Read through my kernel thread. I have specific milestones to getting cm7 on our phone. I will not skip steps to get to cm7 sooner, compromising stability and functionality. If you want to help, please pm me.

Alright, flame me.. because I'm definitely doing something wrong. I'm in no way demanding an ETA or even demanding anyone to start working on this, I simply wanted to group the information anyone knows so we could help each other.. you know.. kind of what a community does?
Guys, being cynical and trolling won't get us anywhere, and tell you the truth, it's childish and starting to bore.
The guy said he wanted a technical status summary and specifically said he wants to help.
In this case, i think we do need to maintain a thread of work chords and specify the barriers.
I thank every new dev with a will to help.
I think he deserves a different attitude than a noob, especially if we don't want to scare all devs from here.
That's my opinion anyway.

It's ok. I've responded to a few of these threads. It's surprising how many people don't click 'search' and search for 'cm7' or 'cyanogenmod'. I also don't expect people to read both rootz and xda. So if you read my op on the kernel thread, I have a "Plans" section (on both forums!).

Lets keep this thread going I am also wondering how come there is so little development here but what developers we have are dedicated!
We have great developers that work hard on cm. The sgs 4g is the problem of not having it, freaking sammy with their experiments. i really enjoy their masterpieces(devs). Op you just have to have some patience, cm will come to us i believe in our devs.

Then why didn't you group all the information that is already available in the 50 other threads about CM7 into this one?
if you really wanted to do that, you could have made your OP a summary with bullet points of the details of everything that was already discussed, and then updated it with new information that comes along.

Before flaming and insulting did you notice the date on the first post?
Personally I think the person that cast the raise dead spell should be getting beat with the flame bat.
I swear sometimes people are too eager to flame somebody. Its like they had a bad day come to xda to post behind a anonymous screen name and then walk away feeling better. But that is just me, Im sure my observation is wrong.

First of all, this has never been my primary device. I have never owned this device. I used to own the Samsung Vibrant, now I own a Nexus S. My girlfriend owned a Galaxy S 4G, and was using her phone to try to bring something new to you guys. (First ICS theme for this device ring a bell?) It's not my job to group 50 other threads about CM7 into this one. That's not what a community is. I am in no way a recognized developer, I know my stuff, but I have a long way to go. But it's people like you that make devs want to leave and stop posting their stuff. You swear people have time to do everything. And indeed that was my intention, but I wasn't going to pull useless information from other threads that members have posted, that are often inaccurate. This thread was mostly meant for devs, that could actually help out, and working together.
In other news, I finally have some time to mess around with stuff, might look into more themes or something, but I lack a device to work on, so I guess if some people would like to help (testing, etc.) I'd be glad to push things out from time to time.
