It is a new challenge for the ROM-Developers to port the new Sense to our Desire device
EDIT:
ownhere has successfully running the Desire HD ROM on a simple Desire.

EDIT 2:
ownhere made a ROM available for our Desire here:

Will this affect our ROMs?

Holy....
How the hell did it get leaked so quickly?
We might have the new interface before the Desire HD is even released..

I have just edited the 1st post to include a link to a thread about a new test ROM RUU .

When I saw the new HTC Devices I said "The guys in XDA will have a dump between 7-10 days". But to have a dump less than 2 days after the announcement is just Fushing amazing Viva la XDA
Now lay back and watch the noobs flood xda with silly threads about the port....

Can't wait to see what the devs can do with this.

Oh my life!
This is exciting!
Sent from my HTC Desire

I'll see what I can do with this

I'm trying to port with 2.0x kernel, deleting "****", and lib 2.14 camera, finally 171MB zip but gives me an sh error :S

Yay...
Go go go Adam & Neo

I think, I THINK, I juts got over-excited. This is fantastic
I actually CANNOT wait for some work on this.
Good work with acquiring the files.
You make superman look slow

Anybody know where is sense in a htc rom?

If your talking about the sense homescreen, it is called Rosie, and is located in /System/App. if you are talking about the whole thing, like messaging, dialer etc, then it's in the whole rom, as it is mixed in with the framework. This is in the /System/Framework folder called framework.apk i believe. Too tired to think atm.
If you are a rookie, this is the wrong place to discuss this
And seeing as you don't know where/what sense is, I'm guessing this is true.

Saw the pictures of the new phones and nearly fainted with joy. I just want a whiff of the Desire Z with a HD screen.
Saw some of the benchmarking on the HD2 thread on this. 56.1FPS Neocore, Quadrant 1900+. With Sense as well (i believe). I feel obsolete.
(This was, I believe, a benchmark test on the HTC ACE, as I haven't seen any roms with it as of yet, so don't be dumb and try flashing it.)

Not just rosie.apk...
But the ace system/etc have a new folder "firmware" with files like "vidc_720p_command_control.fw", i think it's needed by the new camera apk.

Yeah, the quadrant scores are impressive. Especially for a stock sense rom. Massively jealous. But AdamG has reported 1900+ scores with his new oc kernel I think

Yea, AdamG has truly done some amazing things with his OD rom. Its the only thing that's dragging me away from sense, but with Sense having the Camera app and SYSRW. Just waiting for him to do his magic with these ACE files.
I have already seen the SenseClock .apk from this rom flying around, with the actual Flipping animation. I think it is either on the Incredible/Evo/HD2 thread

This is the ace /system but some files in /system/etc are lost beacause of stupide permission : http://www.multiupload.com/8705WK7KYT

Mytouch 32b port 10/23/10

This is just a quick port I made of the mytouch 32b (not to be confused with the mytouch 32a or mytouch slide) froyo 2.2 update.
I just took the update added xbin from one of darches nightlies added our wlan.ko and buildprop. At first I just switched kernels but bluetooth didn't work (it did work good though with decad3nces bfs). So thats why I used the bootimage from darches for the most part everything works and it's really not something I really wanted to pursue but figured if I wanted to try it out someone else would. I just like it cuz it has odex files.
Just to be clear though this doesn't have sense their update didn't include it.
What doesn't work
gps
camera
Download updated 10/23/10 here
Here's an alternate link thanks to beezy420 try this one first
The update from 10/23/10 is de-odexed and still requires the fix roaming zip
beezy420 uploaded a update zip to add live wallpapers to the rom at the gmail account
so I made a fake gmail account so that we can just upload update zips to there without having to wait thirty or 90 seconds depending on how mediafire feels that day? [email protected]

Eh.... This is AOSP. What's the point? I don't really mean that sarcastically but.. Isn't the mytouch 2.2 supposed to have the rosie?
I guess this is a mytouch port of AOSP 2.2 to the hero?

Yeah that's a misconception people have. There probably won't be a sense froyo update till the mytouch slide gets it. The mytouch 32a might get it but I kinda doubt it since they didn't have sense to begin with. The point of this is that it's 2.2 with odex files and just so people know what the mytouch 32b update was all about cuz I'm sure someone wanted to know. Also I was bored
Nice pics by the way also wanted to say that this is what they got I only changed what I noted in the first post

Well hell, if that's the case than this is pretty sweet. I noticed it running mighty fast on mah hero that usually laggs out if not at least a smidgen when I am running AOSP. I say this might be fiah for the AOSP Froyo!
Cyanogen-Modders, what say you? A rom upgrade to the project eh? Maybe we can finally have some CM6 with a healthy dose of no slowdowns/hickups!

Yeah I personally don't have many problems with cm6 nightly. I will say that I ran decad3nces kernal in the original tmo bootimage in this rom and it flies
I wish I could say the same. I have had nothing but trouble with cm6 even with the newest kernels.
Don't get me wrong the glitter and glam (and brute force speed!) is better than perfect at first, but after about a day, my phone becomes unusable on cm6.. To the point that it will lock up on any given screen for 5 seconds or more. Usually more actually. So I am hoping maybe this will get me somewhere

nope. Not here and I personally know one other person that has the same issue but I think I know what the issue is.

What is the point of this? CM6 is native and has no GSM limitations. The Slide is the one that will get teh Sense update, not this one.

Well, its been ported to semi-high end phones. Expect absolutely horrible performance from the sdk port to htc g1..

well if you guys can get a new boot.img build with a ramdisk from one of the working honeycomb ports and a zimage from a working 32b kernel we can get something going

why is this thread cluttering up G1 dev?
yes mainly for tablets. but some member like bypass portet it to the nexus one and it works... so if someone know how we get it boot PM me or yoshi
bypass said we have to edit the boot.img and it will work but yet it only sitting in the htc logo.

well, 2.3 was released not so long ago
it does seem clear that honeycomb has a different target to gingerbread,
the new features of honeycomb are mostly to take advantage of a larger screen size, and more processing power,
sure maybe it could be dumbed down for g1, but what would be the point?
I love my g1, but its time to move on soon, there comes a point when getting something to run on it for the sake of getting it to run becomes futile , by not moving on to better hardware we are ultimately missing out on the great features that an Android OS can give us when running on up to date hardware
I can get Linux to run on a Pentium3 , but why would I want to do that when I can run it on a quadcore intel ?
I'm moving on to the Evo mid-march, but why not try and make the most out of it?

[Q] Rom Recommendation

Hey guys,
I've been out of the flashing game for some time now and looking for a fresh rom.
Some of the things I really look for are,
-solid battery life
-good camera interface (ive taken over 1600 photos since sep 2011)
-I hate a phone that freezes and WILL SACRIFICE bells and whistles for it
-I DIS-like the sense feature that allows the screens to rotate like a carosel (iv done it waay too many times on accident)
I will say I do prefer sense, for all the built in features that are very stable. But since the inspire has been out for a while maybe some of the alternates have STABLE features BUILT IN.
Here are a few that I really enjoyed
-Gingerbeast....can you say battery life and stability!!
-LeeDroid....the first rom i ever tried, good balance of features
-WCX_Sense....sense done beautifully! (not great battery life though)
and here are a couple roms that didn't fit my personality/desires
-virtuous unity 1.27
-original rumrunner
-ace miui
**I'm not a fan of adding a lot from the market** I usually find this slows the phone and adds to the stability issues
Open to try anything that you guys think would work well...even if its an updated version of something i didn't really like last time around
Thanks!

Coredroid is really good, its my preferred sense rom. lots of tweaking options within it.
WOW and removing apk's was pointless, (lmao). What one ROM may work great for one person may not work great for another. You have to try them out yourself. I love Redemption 4.0 has its small issues, but also Absolution 3.7 is very solid.

I tried to explain what features are important to myself
I did not ask what is the best rom, or what is your favorite, simply which current rom will fit MY listed preferences best.
Wasn't trying to make this a super generic newb post...
and with respect. this is a development site. its a collection of projects and hacks. this isnt a library where you ask about a genre of books and we take you to them. just download and try. best bet
Virtuous Affinity seems to be pretty solid for a sense ROM. RCMix3D Runny 4.0 was also pretty best. I use my phone heavily and haven't noticed many bugs on Virtuous Affinity so I would recommend it to you.

If you are looking for stability, no carosel, and the best battery life I have ever experienced give the Juicy R2 version ROM a try. The link is in my sig. It is Gingerbread 2.3.3 and Sense 2.5. No added mods, or bells and whistles. Seriously thinking of going back to it myself. Using WCX at the moment. It is a great ROM but I have to agree that it is not the best for battery life. I can do without the new weather app in 3.0 and 3.5.

I Would beg to differ on this.
Now for the OP see one of the biggest issues is that a rom could run 100% on my device but not on yours. That is the reason for the try them out yourself and see what works best for you.

You got it.
Roms are very subjective as everybody has told you. I would recommend CoreDroid V9.4 that is truly awesome and battery life great. RCmix and WCX have been discontinued unfortunately, so I would just use a rom that is still supported. Anyway, all roms in here are great and very smooth and stable. In the end, it will depend on what you like....

Take a look at my sense 4 FULL port ;)

Here i am showing you all my port from one s to our DS. its WORKING 99.9% all i need to do is get my hands on some re sized widgets and its all ready for you
go here to keep a eye out for its upload
but i took the widgets out so i could focus on the CORE of the rom like framework and systemUI and rosie and apps. now ive got them its easyer if i get re sized widgets from another rom. that way i can upload it today. if not it will take me another 4 to 5 days to re size everything.

The port by trapscka has resized widgets...... The rosie is pretty horrible though. Plus, there's a Nexus S ROM coming today which has a lot resized. Could you add the 3D cubic animations? HTC removed them, they're in all custom ROMs/Sensation ports..... You could ask any devs for help, maybe on the virtuous irc.....

that's the thread for your question
[Q]
I want ICS on my phone and HTC is providing with their update they will release (rumors) in June-July this year.
But i saw this thread of yours with the full sense 4, while the update gets 3.6
So i'm in doubt. Should i stay with HTC's original stock rom or switch and loose my warrenty, (which i still got). I like to hear your opinion.
(difference between them: http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/45134/htc-sense-3-6-vs-sense-4)
But still: keep up the good work.

If you want ICS and still your warranty keep waiting. Personal I prefer sense 3.6 over 4.0, but its personal taste. The right now version of the leaked sense 3.6 is good enough as a daily driver. I think the final version will be even better and there will be some development on this here.
It's always your decision too root and get the latest or stay stock. Nevertheless most of the funcions you need are in stock Romso no real "need" to root, but for me It's fun.

So many ROM's.... Which one?

After work tonight I'm gonna dive in and unlock my HOX bootloader and dive in to some new ROM's. I see there are now a multitude of choices here, and I am wondering if I could get some feedback regarding which ones are viewed best. Fast, clean, best battery life, customizability... so many criteria I'm a bit confused. Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.
This should be in Q&A but try clean ROM it's the best in my opinion.....now prepare to be flamed...

The second I clicked "post" I realized I put this in the wrong forum. I am SO sorry. I don't know how to move it. I hope the Mods move it for me. I don't want to be flamed! I'm really sorry.
FLAME!
i'm sure the mods will move this at some point.
personally, i like clean rom DE, sense is pretty, but it's such a huge resource hog still, aosp ICS is so much lighter on ram, even in its faux aosp iteration on our phones.

Duuude, you're sooo stooopid.
Just kidding.
Its not that hard. If you intend to flash the "typical" way using CWM, and not mess with desktop installers then that excludes Magnolia and Sirius (these were released before the bootloader was unlocked) . At least until they are updated to flash via CWM.
There is a stock deodexed 1.85 ROM, and a 1.88 ROM. But as the names tell you, they are just stock ROMs, just deodexed. Good if you want a base to do other mods (which often require deodex) but that's about it. And 1.88 is based on an Asian ROM, and it breaks AT&T LTE.
What you have left is only 3 custom ROMs. CleanROM DE has an AOSP look, if you are looking for that. If you like Sense, pick CleanROM or Nocturnal. CleanROM is somewhat close to stock, but with performance tweaks and other mods, and de-bloated. Nocturnal looks to have lots of customization options when you flash thanks to AROMA. I haven't personally tried Nocturnal. But I've used ROMs on a previous phone that utilize AROMA, and its very slick.
If you want to see the current ROMs listed in an organized fashion, have a look at my index thread (shameless self promotion):

That's all there is to it, at least for now. Hopefully we'll have a lot more to choose from soon! That's one first world problem I would like to have . . .
Can't go wrong with cleanrom, I've been using his roms on a few phones, I love it.

For me I came to the HOX from my GNex so my assumption was I was going to want to get closer to AOSP / CM9 as soon as possible.
I was surprised to really enjoy a few different tweaks to Sense that HTC has done like the lock screen shortcuts which I use constantly.
For me I have been sticking with CleanROM since the 2.0 version. It has been very very stable and the little tweaks available by default are really everything I want.
I'm really enjoying CleanROM DE. Smooth and ASOP elements are sexy.
