Hello guys,
apparently something happened to my earphones. I'm guessing my roomies messed with it and busted it. I can see that there's a hole in the right earphone now.
I'm in search of an earphone which is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S. Sure I can get loads of better ones off play/Amazon. but I wanted to get the one which is compatible with my phone.
can anyone suggest me some in-ear earphones with volume adjuster or perhaps link me to original one?
thanks.
Look here
There are few other threads discussing about headphone compatibility, do a search.
As I have said in the first thread, I'm using a Nokia AD-54 with my own pair of headphones. IMO thats the best way to get highest quality. Because you can connect any high quality 3.5mm headphone.
P.S: For me Samsung's bundled pair sounds pretty bad, any $30 aftermarket head/earphone will sound way better.
I did a search already, but I found few more questions instead of answers,
the thing that nothers me is the polarity (mic/spk/gnd/gnd) thing, I wonder how many headphones/earphones support that..
I dont want to invest into something that doesnt work with my phone..
do the following two work?
http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home...onal_headphones-headsets_dj-headphones_502103
http://www.jbl.com/EN-GB/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?PID=REF250BG&accT=1&tsT=0&ovT=1
I've found something for you (I expected it, to be true):
-Every normal Headphone does Work (without Heaset functionality, understandable)
-iPhone-compatible Headsets do not work on the Galaxy
Oh and in a Review about the Galaxy someone used several Headphones, all of them are working. For Example there were Sennheiser CX300.
thanks, i'll go on earphone hunting now, and will let you know how it goes.
cheers!
also these seem to be cheaper: http://www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndSearch/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=34645994#

Link to Sennheiser site is broken. I'm not sure about the other one either. Some say Sennheiser MM50 works, but I havent tried.
As for using a regular 3.5mm ear/headphone for music, everything works. I am using several different standard 3.5mm earphones and headphones, but remember, when you receive a call you have to disconnect the headphone to talk, built in mic disables as soon as you plug in the headphone. Its annoying, thats why I use the Nokia AD-54 adapter and a Bluetooth clip when walking outside.
urbanears
If you do a Google search for Urbanears, they do a range of headphones that will work as hands free with the SGS. I have some of the over the head ones and there pritty good. They come with a variaty of headphone jack addapters for diferent phones and have an inline mic.

I use these earphones and I can say that they are the best!! Great sound quality... Extreme bass clarity
Apologise for resurrecting this thread, but I want to confirm that the Nokia Adaptor provided with the Urbanears range of headsets do indeed work with the Samsung Galaxy S.
I ordered a pair of Medis, but when the headset first arrived the Nokia adaptor was faulty, I emailed them that the adaptor wasn't working, and they responded asking for my address so they could send out a free replacement (they did not ask for any kind of proof of purchase). When the new adaptor arrived, it worked like a charm, media button and mic became functional.
Yep, the urbanears nokia adaptor works perfectly

To operate the headphones you should turn off the microphone of the iPhone, because in the Galaxy S the pins are reversed.
A test when you insert the earphones, hold the microphone, you will hear the difference.!

Hey is it possible to get the adapter separately? I'm using the KVconnections one with my NuForce Ne-7m and the plug doesn't fit my cases (had to enlarge the holes in a couple already - don't want to have to do it with the rest).

That's not a hole dear. There is one upper layer of some kind of fabric thats been removed or got removed. Go to any samsung service senter they will replace it free of cost if in warranty your phone within three days.
Same happened with me but my left earphone of headphone wasn't working and this time they replaced it with the better one.. M njoying.

Urbanears don't appear to sell the nokia adaptor seperately, but you could always try emailing them.
I bought my Urbanears (black set of Medis) from a third-party site, but when I contacted Urbanears directly specifying that the adaptor that came with my Urbanears did not function, they simply asked for my address and sent a replacement adaptor out to me, they didn't verify that I actually owned a pair of their headphones. Theoretically, you could send them an email pretending to be someone with the same problem, though it would of course be harmful to their business if abused.
Just a quick question: i noticed, that if i am using the stock headset with an old ipod touch, i always have to press the button to get all the sound. Is there any way to avoid this?

Surely there are adaptors availably which are sold separately? I use a Sennheiser BT headset at the moment (MM200) but would like a pair of wired, good in-ear earphones so I have one less battery to worry about plus the sound quality is better. But the one thing I love about BT is the remote control buttons and there are very few options available for Samsung compatible wired earphones.
Can anyone recommend a good adaptor?
I bought myself a pair of samsung gtI9000 earphones from ebay for £4 :/.
works like a charm!

I've also found another set of adapters that might work: http://www.amazon.com/Native-Union-Adaptor-Blackberry-Phones/dp/B003NVM9HK, but given that the Medis is available for $USD50 I might just grab that and have a spare set of headphones.

Yes - use a rubber band to keep the button pressed
I use this adapter to make my NuForce NE-7Ms work with the SGS: http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-354r3m-r2f.htm. In theory you should use this one since you're doing the reverse: http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-354r2m-r3f.htm, but they should be the same. As I said earlier, it works well but is bulky and doesn't fit my cases without modding
I can confirm two headsets working (tested) with I9000. The first one is Sennheiser MM-50 Nokia (the Nokia part is important, as they do also them for IPhone), second are the Stock Nokia's E52 ones.
After ripping my original headset I'had bought the Sennheiser's headset and must say I am quite pleased with them.
Cheers
So there is no headset with Nokia ad-54 functionality...
I mean there is no way to plug in my earphones and control calls/music... Exept of soldering iron... it's sad.
I use my headsets about 80% of the time... that said the oem headsets are not as loud as I would like them to be. They are ok and just that.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good audiophile headsets for around $50-$70 bucks? I saw Zagg has some but I didn't like that the volume on the headset used a sliding mechanism. I would have preffered a rocker or buttons.
I liked the zagg because it had the mic and everything. I wouldn't buy a headset without the mic for my phone.
I do use the phone as a media player (movies & music) so does anyone have any sites I could check out?

Headphone.com is my go-to source for headwear. There's a bunch of headset options in your price range.
look up Grado. they make great headphones... they have entry levels in your price range if you find them on sale.
here's a good site:
http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=45&sort_on=title&sort_by=&view_all=true
they're also on amazon for the same price.
Check the impedance (given in ohms)
The volume issue most likely has to do with impedance. Headsets with high impedance will have less volume than those with lower impedence. Higher impedance models will tend to last longer, though. Just something else to keep in mind.

shure has headphones made for phone usage with mic and such built in.
I've got Ety's, Shure, v-moda, Sony, Bose, etc and I keep coming back to these:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DREX300i...TF8&coliid=I2UPGX0VBD6T7G&colid=18N1HGC0EJEDW
I have the ones without the inline control, but I think I'm going to get these or go back to Bluetooth with the Motorola S-10 HD when those come out on the 28th.
Will these work for sure on the G2?? Looks like I'm going with these...
The grado's are too expensive with a mic. Its redick and the reviews I have read aren't that positive compared to the sonys.

I haven't had a chance to use those specifically, as I have the "normal" version of those to listen with (and they sound great with nice, tight bass). I went to test my v-modas with my G2, and they keep launching Subsonic rather than the stock music app, but I assume that it works just like it did on my Nexus One. The volume buttons will NOT work on the Sonys (or any others that are for the iPhone 3GS/4), but the call button should work with the music player and answer phone calls.
Kicker makes some of the best headphones. I have the EB91M. The fit very deep in my ear and have tons of bass. I got the M series so I would have a mic to use with my G2.

I have V-Moda Vibe Duos for awhile now. They've went through 3 designs the past 3 years I think. So far, the headset works pretty well but the headphones are more tuned for dance music meaning you'd have to boost midtones in the EQ to flatten the spectrum you hear. Otherwise, it has been pretty good so far.
A pair should set you back $40 - $70 depending on where you find them sold.
whenever this conversation comes up, I have to pimp the Head-Direct RE0.
$350+ sound for ~$70
I currently use:
Sony Ericsson MW-600 Stereo Bluetooth headsets -- they have a mic clip with OLED display that clips to your shirt and a stereo jack to use any headphones you want to it. They work great. Also has an FM Tuner built-in if you want to use that and can pair to two BT devices at once.
I also use Sony MDR-NC7 noise canceling headphones. They are fairly inexpensive for what they are -- $50-$70 USD (I paid 50 at Target). They have decent noise cancellation and are very comfy for long airplane rides. Sound quality is above average. Great for the price, but its not the best.
As far as earbuds, I use the ones that come with my SE BT headset and they sound pretty good. Again, not great, but good enough. The real limit factor is the phone itself. It's not the best audio player in my opinion.
Where can I find these?

NOTE: There is no microphone, which might make this pointless.
Also, if you want accurate sound reproduction, these are EXCELLENT. However, if you need ear-drum bursting bass, look elsewhere. I can honestly say these phones are some of the most accurate I've ever used, and I've bought some EXPENSIVE cans in my day.
JL buds, they require 24hr burn in, the have a wireless phone with a mic, and the sound quality is amazing.

That earphone looks like my HTC Desire earphone, and to be quite frank I don't really like it. First of all the remote/mic was all the way down to my chest and secondly it doesn't stay on my ear that well.
I would recommend just getting any earphone with the remote/mic and download some earphone remote app from the market and configure it to skip tracks and pick up calls by pressing the remote button.
the headphones that come with the One S do all of this.
Plus if your One S is in the first 10,000 units you get beats headphones with it

i just thought it was a genuine offer, cause the phone had just been released.

i was thinking of getting some good sony or sennheiser ones as im using the phone as my mp3 player now. ... On the HTC accessories site they don't even have any headphones that they recommend for the device, you would presume they would be pushing dre earphones or something at least :/
will the sennheiser mm70i work with the One S? from what iv been reading everything but the volume control will work which is fine, does anyone have any experience of this?

Awesome.
What about them? Work fine? Sound good? Which one is better? Do all the controls work?
I find the supplied earbuds atrocius. I got mine in Germany, without contract, and the buds are worse than what I got with the DHD (or Sensation?). There is a little knob with a pushbutton that pauses/unpauses the music, and it might even be a handsfree mic and call accept button. To me this is utter garbage, and they don't even sound or fit well.
I would be interested in options that deliver maybe volume control (optional), next track, prev track and pause. And decent sound. Do I need to shell out for HTC "Beats" models? Or are the special features delivered by the "remote" on the cable standard and normalized between manufacturers by now?
Any good suggestions?
do the track skip / answer call / volume buttons work?
Pretty much any headphones with buttons will work fine with Android. To get the full range of controls you might want to install an app.
Jays Headset Control works a treat for me, and allows you to configure to what you would like - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.jays.headsetcontrol
As to which headphones to buy, that depends on your budget. Something from Ultimate Ears with the vi or vm on the end of the model name if it were my cash.
Nothing to do with me, but I found hifiheadphones.co.uk to be of help; good forum too.
ibeats
I'm using iBeats...working fine, with double twist and Google music. I did install Jays headset control.
Jays is awesome. Must install if you're stock because there's very little built-in support for one-button controls.
That said, I'm using a pair of id America Sparks right now. They sound wonderful, look great, have tons of color choices, and they have been going thorough a chain of price matches ($30ish) that have made it all the way to Amazon.
Just Google "id America Spark" Plenty of good reviews, and hit up Shopping to find where you can grab a pair.

Sadly, the US version didn't include this kind of offer. I definitely ordered one of the first 10,000 units. In fact, the US package doesn't even have cheap, crappy headphones in them, which I would normally use as a workout pair.

Some discussion about various headphones on this thread (particularly near the end): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638272
Some of the recommendations given are for "regular" earphones (no mic or controls) but some do have those.
Some of the headsets with mic and controls will claim "noise isolating", which just means they act like an earplug, passively muffling outside noises. But it sounds like you might actually need active noise cancelling. Not sure if there are too many headsets with mic and control (compatible with Android) that also have active noise cancelling.
London underground? You know this forum is for the US/Canada version of the One X, right?

I love these, you can't beat the value for there price of 20 bucks and they are 400% better then the included Samsung headset. They fully support volume , next/previous song and Answer/Hangup call (actually they are designed specially for Samsung). Without the silicone the Samsung OEM are a little bigger (in picture white is Samsung) but for me they fit much more comfortable then the Samsung. I am currently using the earphones that came with the gs3 and none of the different earpieces fit me properly. Every time I moved my head, they would fall out. I am using different adapters and was hoping they would fit on the MM30G. If there isn't that much of a size difference, I think they might work. Yeah, I was going to ask where you got it for 20 cause I can't find them for that price. Closest I can find is like almost $60usd. Appreciate the quick replies, man. If I can find them for around $30, I just might get them. I will still look for some different earphones til then.

The build quality is better but the sound quality is not good. I started to use them first because they look ok and I was expecting them to be better but when I put on the backbeat fit for a workout I just understood how bad the sound is on the included earphones and how much of the music is lost. I am not an audiophile but I can notice obvious differences. And this is compared with bluetooth headphones which supposedly do not have as good sound as wired headphones.

Ohh...I guess I can ignore the newer OEM earphones then. I always wanted a wireless headset cause the cords always get caught on something. Only thing stopping me is that I just know I'll forget to charge them up. Do the bluetooth headphones eat a lot of the phone's battery?

Do you know if these headphones have different length wires for each ear? So you can put one of them behind your head. I recently got some popular Chinese ones that were recommended here. They sound great, but I really miss the behind the head wire feature.

I use mostly bluetooth headphones and I do not see it impacting the battery a lot but overall I am not so happy with the battery life of om Note 4 (910C model). Maybe because I have skype, lync, good and other stuff running all the time...
I also use the sennheiser mm30g... Only thing with them if you listening to music on full volume you need good quality audio, using Spotify definitely notice the difference between different audio bit rates... Also they have a great mic as I use it a lot and stock Samsung ones are junk imo for voice calls
I have these and love them.

Thanks, I'll look into them. If you took out the silicone pieces, are the parts where the audio come out the same dimensions as the oem Samsung earphones?
I'm coming from the gs3 earphones and heard the recent earphones are better so I thought I'd try them out. Thanks for your suggestions, but I am not looking for anything BT or over the ear type devices.

Jay birds are one of my favorites
You could try the Etymotic MC2 and HF2 models, which are made to be compatible with controlling Android phones. They have them at Etymotic website but also on Amazon.
Will give you a heads up that while these are nice my experience is that, for heavy users who dont baby these things and keep them a bag and all that, they get beat up after a while - the cords fray. But the sound is pretty good.
The jaybird bluebuds x are hands down the best earbuds I have ever used. Absolutely love them.

Yeah, I just got them and really like them too. I bought them from Amazon but interestingly, this showed up on the Amazon site page for these in the last day or two:
------

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the late suggestions, but I ended up getting the sennheiser mm30g because that was suggested the most. I might look into the jaybirds in the future, but they are too expensive at the moment.
