Regarding the headphones with mic, realised that i will need ones that reduce external noise, as i realised i can't listen to music or watch films easily on the london underground with the htc headphones bundled with the phones. any ideas?

you could check out the phiaton p20 bt. you have to shop around to get a good price, but they do permit you to answer/reject calls while listening to music. sound is actually not bad. they're semi in-ears.

This is what I have. Hate to spend a lot on a case. Decent case, only con is the kickstand plastic doesn't allow the phone to rest completely flat and can't charge when the kickstand is in use.. Can't complain for $4

Some discussion about various headphones on this thread (particularly near the end): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638272
Some of the recommendations given are for "regular" earphones (no mic or controls) but some do have those.
Some of the headsets with mic and controls will claim "noise isolating", which just means they act like an earplug, passively muffling outside noises. But it sounds like you might actually need active noise cancelling. Not sure if there are too many headsets with mic and control (compatible with Android) that also have active noise cancelling.
London underground? You know this forum is for the US/Canada version of the One X, right?

Bluetooth headset and bluetooth usb adapter

I'm planning to buy a bluetooth headset and a bluetooth usb adapter, but so far I havent found much.
The BT headset will be mostly used for music and some talking, so i will need to have something in both ears and not just 1 like most bt headset.
And I also need a bluetooth usb adapter that i will use together with active sync and do file exploring, and syncing contacts etc. , normal stuff.
I appreciate every help I can get, links, answers, and also if you have used any of the BT headsets, and can write a mini review about it if you think its good, that would also be great!
Christoffer
Anyone that can help?
I don't have the Diamond (yet), but I am very happy with my Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo BT buds. There is a primary earbud with a loop for use for standard BT handsfree, and a lighter bud with a thin wire for the stereo. I don't use mine too often as stereo, but when I do, the sound is quite good from my HTC Apache (although the ROM I'm using has an issue that requires deleting the profile and recreating periodically to avoid playback problems). As a handsfree, it picks up well and because the buds seal in your ear, it blocks out background noise well. I'm even able to use in stereo mode while mowing without adjusting the volume above a non-mowing comfortable level (again, because the seal blocks out most noise), so I don't destroy my hearing.
My only issue is that when I get sweaty, the buds don't hold their seal really well, so I'd have to occasionally push them back in for a tight seal. I also tried to do without the ear loop when only using the primary side for hands-free, but that lead to my trying to catch it when it fell out while holding my phone in that hand (which lead to a scratch on my phone and an ejected memory card -- oops). If you use the loop and play around with the different sized buds for proper fit, you should be quite happy. Also, if you look for deals, I was able to get mine for around $60.
Hope that helps. I've not used any USB BT adapters, so can't help there.
Thanks for a nice reply with much information, and I've seen a bit on that one before to, looks pretty nice, I've heard it wasn't that good for music playing, but how do you think the sound is? is it very high on max volum or not that high? and how is the quality, maybe compared to the earphones that are you got with the phone or some others if you got.
And when you talk in it, the sound is good on both sides? i mean, do you hear the other one good and does he/her hear you good?
Also, where did you buy it for 60$ looks like a nice price for those, only found them for over 100$ without looking to much yet.

The volume is good. As I mentioned, I mow the lawn with them, and I can hear my podcasts very well even over the sound of the mower. The music I've listened to has sounded good, but I didn't really do an objective comparison with other earphones/buds. I think the quality is about is good as you get from most 128 kbps MP3s. If the earbuds are properly seated in your ears, the base is quite good, but if they are not, they will sound a bit tinny.

I think the call quality is good. It picks me up very well even without extending the mic/slide, and nobody has complained.

I found it on n1wireless (http://www.n1wireless.com/search.cg...+voyager+855&gclid=COedzLn65ZQCFRKhxgodnCirSg), which has it for $69 new or $49 opened box. I bought an open box (which cost me a bit more IIRC).
Because the buds seal your ear canal for proper fit, one issue you might have is the reduction of background noise when not in use. It did take me a bit to get used to basically being partially deaf in one ear when one side was in. When I'm not trying to block out the sound, but am wearing the headset in expectation of a call, I sometimes intentionally break the seal so I can hear outside sounds better. My old headset was the more traditional outside the canal type, and that wasn't an issue, but then again, I couldn't hear anything in noise environs (and certainly not while mowing), so you've got to make that call.
I would REALLY recommend the Motorola S9 and if you can wait, the HD ones are coming out supposedly in September.
Thanks for both replies and i think im going for the plantronic one unless i find something else that is better.
About the motorola s9, i dont really want the looks like that one, I like it better when its a bit smaller and I'm able to have it in my pocket.
I've been looking for plantronics voyager 855 now, but most sites i've been on either dont ship to Norway or it costs like 40-60dollar for shipping.
Does anyone know a place with a low price prefer under 80dollar, with also free or cheap shipping, under 10 dollar atleast. I'm not gonna pay 60 dollar for the headset + 60 dollar for shipping
Cheapest place in Norway is 720kr which is about 150(+/-) dollar
Another option
I got the HBH-DS970 on ebay for £19 about 38 dollars with free postage to UK - they are absolutely amazing in terms of sound quality they look great and also have caller ID and music controls.
Does the music controller work in S2P?
Bump
Still trying to get the plantronics voyager 855, but haven't found any good prices yet, anyone about some places? with also either cheap or free shipping to norway

Useless headphones that are included

I'm finding the headphones included with the Samsung Galaxy S to be pretty useless. They do not stay in my ears and was wondering if anyone else had this problem? Could just be me with dodgy shaped ears but I've never had a problem with any other in-ear headphones. The build quality, sound quality and other aspects of the headphone seem great (although the in line controls seem very limited) so it's a shame that they don't stay in my ears.
If anyone knows of a good 3rd party alternative (possibly even a Bluetooth stereo set) then do reply back with details.
TIA
The earphones seem fine to me, the rubber bits are a little bigger than what im used to with inear earphones (normally i go with the small ones). However i find them to be fine for me, and the sound quality is great.
I am using another headphone instead of supplied one. Anyway original one can answer calls but can't control volume / music player etc. so a little disappointed and now looking for Stereo Bluetooth headset.
Buy a pack of Sennheiser in-ear replacement rubber thingo's. They go for around $5. Fits perfectly. Apart from that, the originals sound like crap but are good as freebies.

It's not just you. They pop out of my ears as well - very irritating indeed. I don't use the headphones often, but when I do I just use my iPhone or PSP ones (for listening to music, not calls etc).
/PS: Not sure if these work as an antenna for the FM radio thingy though...
Have you ever tried apple headphones worst I've ever tried doesn't fit well and you can hear everything around you for a device that you paid more than any other ..... Those are useless not the SGS ones that are good in-ear and they stay in my ears but yes I regret a bit that they don't have a previous-next song like the apple one (only good thing about those)

I would've liked to have a clip to clip to my clothes so they dont fall off but..
Yea sound quality is very good aswell!
For those looking for BT stereo headphones, I've been using the Plantronics/Altec Lansing Backbeat 903's for almost a year now, and I love 'em. I honestly haven't tried them with the SGS, but they've worked beautifully with every phone, pc, and ps3 I've paired them with.
I've found something like that: I can't post outside links
well it's AIAIAI TRACKS HEADSET those are hedphones with mic.
I bought Thomson ultra comfort HED17 ear pads and now stoc earbuds don't fall off.

Only thing about the 903, dont use them for workouts if your sweating... I did, and they broke down in 2 days ....
Personaly I'm looking for 1 ear solutions that also can receive media output from SGS.
Maybe u'd like Jabra Stone.
Personally I am using a Samsung 3.5mm adapter, that has a multifunctional button (play/pause/take or end call) into which i plug my bang&olufsen earphones.. it's working great and the good part is that you can use whatever earphones you like
edit:
oh also i think the original sgs headphones suck donkeyballs... the sound quality is bad, it's inear (which is pretty unhygenic/unhealthy), cable is about 20cm too short for someone like me, the rubber things are not very firmly attached and i almost lost them like 10 times in 2 weeks..
thats why i threw away those things and got myself some nice headphones+that extension cord/remote control/whatever thingy
how do you find SQ compared to an iPhone?
My SGS is practical unlistenable with good stereo headphones due to strong hiss in the background, especially when you pause a track, its less noticable on stock headphones,
I thought it was a general issue, but probably its only me phone/firmware..
Just bought Motorola HT-820 Stereo Bluetooth headset for 28$. Sound quality is average but full control over music player. Play/pause, next, fw, vol +- and telephone conversations. Great for outside during cold days.
fAtaXe, i'm looking for that kind of adaptar, which one is yours?
think the stock samsung headphones are very disappointing in terms of fit in the ear. It seems they have only catered for an 'average' ear size.
I would have prefered ipod style headphones with a mic...i wear the samsungs and they just fall out embarrassingly when using them for hands free conversations.
I am currently using my old nokia 5800 headphones and mic although the mic isn't as sensitive enough so callers cant hear me as loud as they would like to.
Would generic ones work with this phone?
I'm just trying the phone with my Sennheiser HD 650,
to my surprise they rock, though are 300ohm headphones,
Galaxy s deserve some respect in HP amplifie area..

Headset with music controls

Hey all, my stock htc headset has broken (can' hear a thing from the left ear-bud) and am looking for a replacement.
I was wondering what everyone would recommend... I'm looking for one with music controls, a mic and in-ear buds but it seems that they are impossible to find.
And I was also wondering if bluetooth headsets cause a lot of battery drain
Thanks
Hi there,
You could try buying a pair of the Galaxy S earbuds from eBay, they do exactly what you're asking, and should play nice with any Android phone. As far as I know at least.
Anyone know if either one of these works with desire?

The biggest problem with finding a headset is companies not specifying supported phone models and assume everyone owns a freakin iPhone
I also need good earbuds which can controle the mediaplayer or can control volume.

Does anyone know if the battery drain is very bad with blue-tooth headphones?
i just got some Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets, they have a microphone and single button that works for play / pause / answer call, etc.
So far seems to work well with the Desire. Got them off eBay for £20 although they might be fakes as the RRP is more like £60.
Also order some Skullcandy Titans from Play.com on sale currently for £14 instead of £40.
That would be great if play shipped electronics anywhere outside the UK hehe. I'll have a look on ebay. Could you link the Full Metal Jackets you got? 1 button is better than no button at all hehe

Audiophile headsets?

I use my headsets about 80% of the time... that said the oem headsets are not as loud as I would like them to be. They are ok and just that.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good audiophile headsets for around $50-$70 bucks? I saw Zagg has some but I didn't like that the volume on the headset used a sliding mechanism. I would have preffered a rocker or buttons.
I liked the zagg because it had the mic and everything. I wouldn't buy a headset without the mic for my phone.
I do use the phone as a media player (movies & music) so does anyone have any sites I could check out?

Headphone.com is my go-to source for headwear. There's a bunch of headset options in your price range.
look up Grado. they make great headphones... they have entry levels in your price range if you find them on sale.
here's a good site:
http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=45&sort_on=title&sort_by=&view_all=true
they're also on amazon for the same price.
Check the impedance (given in ohms)
The volume issue most likely has to do with impedance. Headsets with high impedance will have less volume than those with lower impedence. Higher impedance models will tend to last longer, though. Just something else to keep in mind.

Will these work for sure on the G2?? Looks like I'm going with these...
The grado's are too expensive with a mic. Its redick and the reviews I have read aren't that positive compared to the sonys.

I haven't had a chance to use those specifically, as I have the "normal" version of those to listen with (and they sound great with nice, tight bass). I went to test my v-modas with my G2, and they keep launching Subsonic rather than the stock music app, but I assume that it works just like it did on my Nexus One. The volume buttons will NOT work on the Sonys (or any others that are for the iPhone 3GS/4), but the call button should work with the music player and answer phone calls.
Kicker makes some of the best headphones. I have the EB91M. The fit very deep in my ear and have tons of bass. I got the M series so I would have a mic to use with my G2.

I have V-Moda Vibe Duos for awhile now. They've went through 3 designs the past 3 years I think. So far, the headset works pretty well but the headphones are more tuned for dance music meaning you'd have to boost midtones in the EQ to flatten the spectrum you hear. Otherwise, it has been pretty good so far.
A pair should set you back $40 - $70 depending on where you find them sold.
whenever this conversation comes up, I have to pimp the Head-Direct RE0.
$350+ sound for ~$70
I currently use:
Sony Ericsson MW-600 Stereo Bluetooth headsets -- they have a mic clip with OLED display that clips to your shirt and a stereo jack to use any headphones you want to it. They work great. Also has an FM Tuner built-in if you want to use that and can pair to two BT devices at once.
I also use Sony MDR-NC7 noise canceling headphones. They are fairly inexpensive for what they are -- $50-$70 USD (I paid 50 at Target). They have decent noise cancellation and are very comfy for long airplane rides. Sound quality is above average. Great for the price, but its not the best.
As far as earbuds, I use the ones that come with my SE BT headset and they sound pretty good. Again, not great, but good enough. The real limit factor is the phone itself. It's not the best audio player in my opinion.
Where can I find these?

NOTE: There is no microphone, which might make this pointless.
Also, if you want accurate sound reproduction, these are EXCELLENT. However, if you need ear-drum bursting bass, look elsewhere. I can honestly say these phones are some of the most accurate I've ever used, and I've bought some EXPENSIVE cans in my day.

[Q] Earphone recommendations?

Since my vz note 4 didn't come with earphones, can someone recommend me some decent earphones (in black if possible) that has compatible mic and vol controls? I'm not an audiophile, so I'm not looking to spend a lot. Whatever that doesn't break down quick and has good audio for music/podcasts. Also, does anyone know the model number of the earphones that came with the note 4 for other carriers? Thanks.

I love these, you can't beat the value for there price of 20 bucks and they are 400% better then the included Samsung headset. Without the silicone the Samsung OEM are a little bigger (in picture white is Samsung) but for me they fit much more comfortable then the Samsung. Oh and as with most earpieces it comes with 3 sizes of silicone earpieces small, medium and large. I just looked up my invoice, I paid 20 euro for them here in the Netherlands, not 20 USD, so prolly you will by able to find them for 30 USD

I am currently using the earphones that came with the gs3 and none of the different earpieces fit me properly. Every time I moved my head, they would fall out. I am using different adapters and was hoping they would fit on the MM30G. If there isn't that much of a size difference, I think they might work. Yeah, I was going to ask where you got it for 20 cause I can't find them for that price. Closest I can find is like almost $60usd. Appreciate the quick replies, man. If I can find them for around $30, I just might get them. I will still look for some different earphones til then.

Thanks, I'll look into them. If you took out the silicone pieces, are the parts where the audio come out the same dimensions as the oem Samsung earphones?
I'm coming from the gs3 earphones and heard the recent earphones are better so I thought I'd try them out. Thanks for your suggestions, but I am not looking for anything BT or over the ear type devices.

The build quality is better but the sound quality is not good. I started to use them first because they look ok and I was expecting them to be better but when I put on the backbeat fit for a workout I just understood how bad the sound is on the included earphones and how much of the music is lost. I am not an audiophile but I can notice obvious differences. And this is compared with bluetooth headphones which supposedly do not have as good sound as wired headphones.

Ohh...I guess I can ignore the newer OEM earphones then. I always wanted a wireless headset cause the cords always get caught on something. Only thing stopping me is that I just know I'll forget to charge them up. Do the bluetooth headphones eat a lot of the phone's battery?

Do you know if these headphones have different length wires for each ear? So you can put one of them behind your head. I recently got some popular Chinese ones that were recommended here. They sound great, but I really miss the behind the head wire feature.

I use mostly bluetooth headphones and I do not see it impacting the battery a lot but overall I am not so happy with the battery life of om Note 4 (910C model). Maybe because I have skype, lync, good and other stuff running all the time...
I also use the sennheiser mm30g... Only thing with them if you listening to music on full volume you need good quality audio, using Spotify definitely notice the difference between different audio bit rates... Also they have a great mic as I use it a lot and stock Samsung ones are junk imo for voice calls
I have these and love them.

Jay birds are one of my favorites
You could try the Etymotic MC2 and HF2 models, which are made to be compatible with controlling Android phones. They have them at Etymotic website but also on Amazon.
Will give you a heads up that while these are nice my experience is that, for heavy users who dont baby these things and keep them a bag and all that, they get beat up after a while - the cords fray. But the sound is pretty good.
The jaybird bluebuds x are hands down the best earbuds I have ever used. Absolutely love them.

Yeah, I just got them and really like them too. I bought them from Amazon but interestingly, this showed up on the Amazon site page for these in the last day or two:
------
Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the late suggestions, but I ended up getting the sennheiser mm30g because that was suggested the most. I might look into the jaybirds in the future, but they are too expensive at the moment.
