Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to install the more or less updated maps of an ipaq 314 Travel Companion (Europe map) on a ipaq rx5935 with outdated (2006) TT6 maps [Western Europe + Canary Islands v675.1409] on its 2GB ROM.
Both models are running WM5.1 but the ipaq 314, which has better resolution (800x480 vs standard 320x240), it's running an HP GPS application (a kind of Nav'N'Go Igo8.x clone).
The updates of both models are still available on hp support: sp39116.exe (1.6 GB OS+Maps update ENGLISH) or sp39116.exe (1.6 GB OS+Maps update SPANISH) in the case of an ipaq 314. The updates for maps in the rx5935 are independent of the OS (sp34708 & sp35481 for all OS languages and allow the user a full restore of the 2GB ROM (just in case we need it).
Anyway I'm afraid of the need of a complete backup of the 2GB ROM of the iPaq 314 previously to try the update in a rx5900 series.
Does anyone have one (in English or Spanish)?
In any case, what file should I try to modify to try to install the ipaq 31x map update in the rx5935 2Gb ROM ?(I suppose it's hpRUU.exe in the root of the extraction directory. Other idea could be try to install Igo 8.3 in the ROM and overwrite it with the files from the HP SP installer.
Has someone tried something similar?

but i am having two problems
1. i have all the voices but TOMTOM won't recognize them
the voices don't work because i simply don't know where to place them
2. i have all the maps and TOMTOM won't recognize them as well
I put the maps in my storage card's root directory under this folder name EXACTLY - QC_NF_PE_NS_NB-Map
i used TOMTOM on my other pocketpc but running WM2003 and it works perfectly.
can somebody pease tell me where the voices got (which directory)
and how to get TOMTOM to recognize the maps; i figure the folder in my storage card is just not named properly......WHAT IS THE PROPER METHOD

I have a Dell x50v and recently upgraded the system from Win2003 to WinMobile 6. I was looking through the programs today and I cant find a backup utility like the one that was in the Windows 2003 version. Is it hiding somewhere and I cannot see it? Do I have to download a proprietary backup software and install it? If so, any opinions on some trusty options

Now, I have ROM named c_shekhar WM3.18.931aCS WWE ROM, before that it was ROM Bepe 0.67.
And after update I have problem with runnig of iGO 2006 or other name OnCourse. Programm ever not tried to start. I tap on exe file and noting. Reinstall not given anything.
Somebody has same problem? How it can be resolve?

IGO 8.0 not work too. IGO 8.3.2 work, but I don't like it version.
Conflict`
there seems to be a conflict between the HTC Home item and iGO2006 - once you have disabled the HTC Home item, iGO2006 will run as if nothing had happened -
(it's always better using the older reliable version rather than installing an updated fat and resources hungry version, I reckon..)
use this igo .exe file, overwrite after install the existing igo.exe in pda
should run then...

As i'm guessing you did, try this:
So I took a risk - I downloaded the A06 ROM update for ENGLISH and of course normally trying to run this package produces the error that my Axim was a different language and not allowing me to continue.
However, what I did was first download the French ROM updater package and take it to just before the stage where it is about to flash the ROM (sorry, can't remember exactly which screen this is but it would have definitely been after it does its check for language compatibility) and while the software is paused at this stage expecting user input to continue, rename and copy over using windows explorer on XP the actual A06 ENGLISH ROM file ie. make the English ROM file the same as the software is expecting the French one to be. Then go back to the flash updater and let it continue.

your trick seems to work but when the ppc reboot and enter flash mode, iget an error on my pc and wmdc close. i think that is due to my windows 7 x64 that is incompatible with dell system upgrade.
and if iwant to use the sd card te change the os language this will be easy?

put the files android and media(after extracted the downloaded package) direct on the storage card (2mb/sec?) then opened android folder from filemanager on phone and than run crlcad.exe and after that haret.exe.
screen turned to black with onthe corner 1cm with some starting up lines(very small) and that was it... nothing further happend .
ps; isnt it possible to make an android.cab thing so you run android as a program.
Is it possible to install android on this phone...
