First time poster, longer time lurker.
Ok, so I've been into rooting for a few months now. I started on the Droid and moved onto the Droid X. I got my X to 2.1 rooted, then 2.2 rooted, then the 2.2 rooted deodexed posted elsewhere.
I wanted to move onto FlyX, but wanted to run it clean and not over the deodexed version I had installed. Unfortunately I hadn't made a nandroid backup of the base 2.2 version. So I decided to start COMPLETELY over by flashing the SBF like I did orginally to upgrade to 2.2 (because I had a theme).
Now, everytime I flash, it just stays in a bootloop that starts after the moto logo. It will show Droid, explode to the eye, and start over.
I've reflashed about 3 times, and taken out the battery several times for each flash. So...any ideas or am I pretty much boned?
Thanks for the help!
Nevermind! I forgot to wipe data/cache! Thanks anyways!

I know this may be a stupid question and probably won't get any where but figured is ask. My original Eris had leak on it so I refined it and got one with stock 1.5 then rooted it. It was great and worked fine with no problems. Then the phone got water damaged so asurion sent me a new one but this one came with pre-installed 2.1 and has 1.49 boot loader. Been trying everything and reading everything to try and root it but nothing working yet. The recovery also works and can flash update files from it as well as factory wipe and etc. But its the stock recovery which I read most 2.1 leaks don't have. I don't know if I can flash hboot from recovery and if I can I can't find an older version to download. Just to sat seems a lot like leak version but with improvements. My question is is there something I could be missing or a root method for pre-installed 2.1. Also this would show that recently manufactured Eris' are being shipped with 2.1 now. I know its now discontinued and can't wait to get incredible but till I can I have Eris for now. Thanks for your help.
Thank you for your great board and programs.

Current issues(just the facts m'aam)
1.TiBU Pro reported as installed. Shows in App mgr. No icon If uninstalled by phone or marked then reinstalled, same issue
2. Cannot format boot sector(partition?) Error Boot Formating (does it thru Rom Mgr, Clwks, and using GLD's total wipe procedure.
3. Can Ti BU Pro be run off the SD card, so that I would not have to go thru market to pick it up before doing anything else?, ie skip whole VRZ thing.
History
I have been having a lot of fun with Roms and themes. Installed Darkslide, couldn't get it working, next Rubix, worked ok, but never could get themes working over it, so I decided to SBF back to stock to clean out whatever was left over. Got back to working fine stock. Decided to try Liberty. Worked well as Rom but I liked Rubix Foc 2.0 better. Picked up Rom Man at this point(had been working thru bootstraper x rooted with command line procedure) Also, forgot, when I rooted 2nd time after SBF, I tried Do root a couple of times. Didn't feel comfortable with that "keep doing it til it works" mentality, so switched to Z4 Root . Worked flawlessly. Put Rubix back on phone but Liberty splas comes up before the rotating cube which does come up.
Thanks for your help Haven't found any of these issues addressed in any of the Droid forums, but Droid stuff is REALLY scattered, so if you could point me in the right direction if it is old hat I would appreciate it.

First of all i'd like to thank anyone who takes time to answer this because this has been driving me nuts for the past 2 days.
Now that thats out of the way; I have a Droid 2 and i'd consider myself a noob with this phone. I rooted the phone yesterday and had problems with ROM manager flashing cwm 2.5.0.8, so what i did was downloaded cwm3 off the internet and moved it onto my SD, renamed cwm3 to 2.5.0.8 and all of a sudden my recovery system works. Once i got that all taken care of i began messing with ROMs. My brother put the beta version of tanzanite on and bricked my phone, i fixed that. Once i got rid of tanzanite i tried using gingerblur 1.3 and got stuck in a bootloop. Right now im in the process of trying to use gummyjar 2.5. More so to the point, what my main question is, is since i'm using clockworkmod 3 would that restrict my phone from being able to use any semi-older ROM versions such as the ones previously stated?
Again, thanks a bunch to anyone who can answer my retardedly long question
I have 2 of these and have been waiting for somebody to post an updated or custom ROM, but it seems there hasn't been one yet. I have rooted them with Z4root and that works well. I have to keep defaulting them after a while, because they both eventually start the download hang issue after a week or so. I backed up my data to the sd card and it restores easily enough, but it is a pain that they do not work as they should. If anyone has any updates in this area it would be greatly appreciated.
ROM
Do you have the original boot and restore images? I happened to brick one (the 2.1 version)
Hello everyone.
So, I have a Motorola Defy, which came with android 2.1 when I bought it.
Shortly after, I upgraded it to 2.2.
A few days later CM7 came out for the defy! (GREAT! ROM btw).
All is well for a couple of weeks, when suddenly, my speaker breaks.
Sooooooo...Im gonna take it to be repaired, but first I need to roll back to the latest official rom for the Defy, which is 2.2 (Personal - Argentina).
I flash the chinese rom first, no problems there, then, I flash the nandroid backup of 2.2 (Personal - Argentina), also, no problems.
Finally I unroot the phone, and try, but fail, to remove the recovery app.
The options to do so are simply grayed out.
I've tried wiping data, cache, and partition but no luck.
I've also tried re installing the app, but still, no luck.
So, I turn to you, great minds of android development. Can you please help me with my predicament?
Thanks for your time.
