any thoughts?
I'm sure you googled for this first, but since you didn't, Action Complete was my personal answer for this from the last thread I saw on the subject.
Look at Due Today as well. It features a very functional widget, projects, sub-projects, due dates, start dates, starred tasks, etc. And, it features ToodleDo syncing.
And, version 1.1 (due today) will feature subtasks.

Guys,
I'm looking to procure a Tasks application of substance.
The program must be able to not only Date the Task in hand but break down and Date any subdivision of the said Task.
As an example:-
I often perform several lectures a month, some containing practical surgery both during and after.
Each lecture needs it's own Task but as they are so complex sub tasks need to be completed before the lecture itself can take place. These sub tasks are all date dependent.
Therefore, what I would like to do is date the main lecture and date all subdivisions of the main task.
If there is a possibility to go deeper and divide a sub division into smaller dates that would be terrific.
If anyone can throw light on this I would be grateful.
Many thanks.

I have been looking for something similar but only as a piece of functionality that is fully integrated with Outlook. I had hopes for Franklin Covey but that's way out of date and doesn't seem to be under active development.
I believe PocketInformant will allow you to create parent-child tasks and possibly even hierarchical nested tasks but couldn't swear to it. The reason I stopped using it was that I could organise the tasks on the PPC (bit of a faff on a small screen - I probably had an XDA or XDA II at the time) but once they synced back to outlook I just had a flat list again.
As a manager with a strong PM background I'd love to be able to use a tool like Outlook to create mini projects from tasks but the response from MS to demand in the Outlook forums is 'use MS Project'. Yeah, right, perfect for a small DIY project or a trip away or a shopping trip or a lecture...!
pTasks is in development at the moment, not quit what is requested but as a base?

Thanks ET.
I tried pTasks but from what I saw it doesn't offer any ability to add sub task date formatting.
There is an app for apple called SmartTime. Its an adaptive planner that basically allows you to merge a day planner with a task list and it automatically schedules and reschedules your tasks based on priority level and deadline. How hard would it be to dev something like that? Nothing even close exists for android, that I am aware of. I would pay a lot (comparatively speaking) for a good one - I think I paid $7 for the iPhone version. I would also think that with honeycomb source being released sometime soon the market for planners, etc would only get bigger. So what's up, anyone want to make some money?

I just created an app like that for Windows Phone 7 (Power Planner) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6iToNgTjYU, skip to 1:39 for the reminder section)
It's only for homework tasks, but it integrates with your school schedule and sends reminders accordingly.
I'm thinking about bringing it to Android. I'm sure I could write a general to-do app that has similar reminders... it's just tougher since there are a lot more variables instead of just class times. Is there a video demoing the iPhone app you're talking about, so I could get an idea of what they did?
For my school, I am planning to create an app that will allow people to be aware of upcoming events and general information about the school for new students and parents.
My IST (Information and Software Technology) teacher said that if it was successful, we will be able to publish it as the school's app and thus awarding be brownie points and overall a beneficiary. My school is not a dodgy one in terms of behavior etc and most people have smartphones, and not retards with iPhones with like #SWAG#YOLO#INSTAGRAM#FACEBOOK.'
Basically it's supposed to display stuff like a map of the school, things like upcoming exams and events like carnivals. I am hoping to add something that will allow you to put your grade as preference and thus only notify you of things that concern you. Basically like a news feed but for your school life.
Will it be able to be pulled off? If it is I will start with Android and move on from there.
I don't see why it would be impossible, but it seems you are taking the difficult road for something that could be done simply.
If there's planned events, you simply need to maintain a calendar/agenda one can sync to. With Google Agenda/Calendar, you can do just that. Share one or multiple agendas people can sync with. The upside is that people can use a multitude of apps, whether on their smartphone or computer to sync with that calendar instead of using a closed app.
The downside, is that its meant to manage a calendar/agenda, thus not really usable for the other part of your project, posts with general informations and news.
Good afternoon everyone,
I have been thinking about an app that my company could use when staff are sent away on weekend events.
The company hires our PDQ (payment terminals) to various markets/fairs/events throughout the country. They are based in London, with most of the events being further out in the country (Telford, Oxfordshire, to name a few). Whilst at the event I would like for our customers feedback, complaints, questions, concerns, ideas, notes on our equipment, e.t.c. to be logged using a tablet, rather than pen and paper. I feel the most effective way to do this is creating our own app. It does not have to be pristine, with a professionally chosen colour scheme, perfect graphics e.t.c., but a simple app that is user friendly and just works. Ideally we would be able to upload an Excel spreadsheet to it, containing customer details, that can be displayed using some form of table/report layout whereby notes can be added. So, for example, 50 customers and their details are on the spreadsheet, it's uploaded to the app and each one can be opened individually. A signature section to confirm receipt of the equipment would also be a fantastic bonus. Once the event is over with, it would help if the report can be pushed/emailed in a usable format (again Excel would be great) so that certain parts can be extracted and used in various other reports.
So my question is... Am I completely mad for hoping the above is achievable, or extortionately costly? Or is it relatively simple considering the advancements in app making and the kinds that are available today? Could a relative novice be able to make it, or is it best reserved for a Pro?
Any help, questions, suggestions, silly remarks welcome.
Thank you

That certainly is a nice idea, but unfortunately it doesn't seem very realistic.
If anyone was to attempt to create that, it'd definitely need to be an experience app maker, as the code required to make an app like that is astronomically difficult.
Meh. :|
Scaling it back...
OK, I thought that may have been a lot of 'blue-sky' thinking. How about if the information was entered manually somehow and then notes were made on each one?
It would be great if each event could be stored on the app and looked back over for reference if need be. Say if the customers information was entered using the app creation tool, then a signature was taken and saved as an image, perhaps a picture of it can be taken and then uploaded to the app?
To the app developers... Is there something based on my proposal that could be made more easily?
Thank you
Hello!
I am interested in creating an app that interacts similar to a pregnancy/fertility app - with a user specific timeline and information. I do not know how to code and have been looking into some online app building and managment systems. Many of the programs online look like they can build apps for events, businesses, rewards, etc...
My question is, does anyone know if there is a system out there that can deliver user specific content? For example, if I enter a date of an event (like a pregnancy due date) as I approach that date relevent information is delivered to me (at 3 months, 6 months, etc..). Any insight would be very appreciated!
Thanks!
If you don't know how to code you have two options:
1) Pay someone to do it , maybe 20k will be enough.
2) Design you app on paper , and try to find a partner.
my two cents and good luck
