[Q] Password recovery from android browser - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey
I woluld like to update to the latest Smoki ROM but I have a little problem... In the browser I saved a password that I don't remember... so if I update the ROM I think I will lost it and then I will not be able to access that site anymore..
Is there a way to recover that password? Any suggestion?
Thank you in advance..
Marco

Do a nand backup incase this don't work.
Backup the browser data with titanium backup. Then restore on your new rom.
Can't guarantee this will actually work as I never used titanium backup that much. Give it a go and let us know.

is not a way to "discover" that password instead of backup browser data??

Why not go to that website on your desktop/laptop and click 'forgotten password?' Depending on the site it may ask for other details such as a username, email address, secret question/answer etc.

No more secret questions etc with microsoft... I have been mailing with microsoft support for about one month and I haven't been able to prove identity

1- click backup/restore of user accounts?

Is it possible to save/backup the user account info for Gmail/FB/Twitter etc
I have 2 FB, 1 twitter and 5 Gmail accounts and would like to avoid entering them every time I flash a rom.
Thanks
I think titanium back up has that ability. It has an option to backup user accounts... I'm unsure if that means multiple or only one account.
It'd be worth looking in to.

Backing up and restoring any system data like user accounts is never a good idea as upon restore if restoring to a different base can cause issues. So backing up any system data is not advised
And restoring with Titanium Backup this:
[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage
Is it safe?
I want to restore my SMS history.

Root it before unlocking and you'll be able to install Titanium Backup. With Titanium Backup, you can backup your Wifi Access Points, at least. You can also backup your browser's data, but I am uncertain if that would include web passwords.

LOL, i need to root 'coz i want to use Titanium backup, but it must be wipe everything (factory reset) and downgrade to .30 before root...how awkward would I..
Why do you need to factory reset to downgrade to. 30?

When you downgrade, it's going to wipe all your stuff by default. When you upgrade you could get away with this.

Best backup software?

Tried doing a search on this, but get a LOT of unrelated results.
Can someone recommend backup software for my Note 10.1 so I can back it up onto my PC? Thanks!
And no, I'm not interested in backing it up onto the "cloud" (otherwise known by non-marketing dweebs as the Internet).

The best one for me is Titanium Backup.
Titanium backup is probably the best backup tool. The free version is not very limited compared to other backup tools and it's always been reliable for me.
I would recommend using a recovery to backup your entire device in case if it gets soft bricked.
I use titanium backup too. I use also online nandroid backup to make a backup of the device

Titanium requires the device to be rooted. What's the best method of backing up my Note 10.1 TO MY PC without having it rooted? I need to back it up before rooting it.
So you can try helium.
Helium doesn't require root permission. I'm sorry but I can't post the link of the app

I think it's better if you remove that link to warez site. Or you didn't read xda's rules?
Just a reminder to everyone. Posting links to, or asking for paid apps is against xda rules.

[Q] Do you have Titanium? Please help me restore Calendar & Calendar Storage.

During attempts to get Google Calendar 5.0 working for all of us on KitKat, I inadvertently deleted "Calendar Storage", aka calendarproviderbin.apk
Could any geniuses out there help me restore this file please? Perhaps you could make a backup of just your app (not data) for:
Calendar
Calendar Storage
...using Titanium Backup and help me access them, so I will be able to restore these. I'd need both so the version numbers are compatible with each other.
You can email me at [email protected] (remove TEETH to contact me!)
As I owned these files already, and am asking for an email rather than anything to be posted here, I am sure this does not breach any sort of rule here.
Thank you in advance!

Flash the system.img from 4.4.4 in fastboot
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks but I wanted to avoid that for a number of unique reasons.
If anyone would be kind enough to quickly go the Titanium route that would be lovely.
Download the factory images then extract the apks you need. Why don't you want to flash system.img?
Flashing the system image only won't wipe you or even lose your apps. It's by far the simplest fix.
Thanks. Can it be done via ROM manager recovery mode?

Long story but thank you all.
Calendar 5 is working for me. Did I miss something here? I'm on stock 4.4.4.
No, I was trying to get it working in the past, before anyone did. You are living in the present, which is good!

Question Root without phone resetting? Or backup app+it's data via adb or similar?

So I'm changing phones, but there's one app which I would have to backup including it's data. If I'd be rooted I could use Titanium Backup, unfortunately I'm not rooted.
Is there a way to root without wiping the phone or is there another way to backup the apps data (and restore) via adb or something else?
Google backup and restore is pretty good, it should restore your apps

But I need the actual data of the app, does that come with Google backup and restore?
App in question is WhatsApp and I need the app including the registration etc on the new phone. Titanium backup can do that, but obviously needs root
Whatsapp has its own backup and restore feature I use it all the time. It will restore all your data, chats etc but you have to log in first

I know... that's exactly the issue though. I'm asking for a way to backup 1:1 so I don't need to do the login. Which Titanium Backup can do since it's does it with all the apps data, but that obviously needs root which I don't have. Hence I'm asking for help here.
I found this which doesn't need root not sure how deep it goes though
How to fully backup and restore your Android device without root
One of Android’s little-known tricks is its built-in backup and restore process that allows users to save their private data...

For that I'd need a way to remove everything from the backup besides WhatsApp though. As that does a backup and restore of everything, all apps, all file system etc IIRC
Trying adb backup now, there seems to be a java tool that allows you to open the backup file on pc

Unfortunately WhatsApp wasn't included in the full backup for some reason
I just tried an app on play store called Swift Backup and it worked!
I made a backup of just whatsapp then deleted it and it restored it without signing in

I'm living in the UK for a few more months, but still use my German number on WhatsApp. The number has since been retired so I can't get SMS/calls on that one anymore, so I'm unable to sign in.
I wish I would've rooted the phone....

Is that the Samsung moving phones thingy? Does that move apps including it's data so you don't have to set them up again?
I usually avoid the moving data from phone to phone during setup, because I take setting up a new phone as an opportunity to clean up data/apps. So I only reinstall those I actually need
EDIT: Just tried it, sadly not:

Backup with ur whatsapp. Its too easy. Anyway, in case u cant do it, think u have to reset only single app (whatsapp - like ur screenshot), so u cant?

As mentioned in here, using the backup inside WhatsApp still needs you to sign in again on the new phone which isn't my goal. I want to backup ALL of WhatsApp including the sign in, so I can just move it to the new phone without logging in.

Then u have 2 options:
1 - Root your phone.
2 - Ask dev of Whatsapp to do something for u (for all too.lol). But i think it'll never come true. Its too risky for any apps.

Yeah thanks, I know it's possible with root which I don't have and doing it wipes the phone which makes my whole reason for this pointless.
This whole post was just asking if there's any way to do it without root. If you can't help don't reply?
