This Tri-Wing screwdriver is just the job - very well machined and robust and importantly, a perfect fit for the size screws on the TG01. I can also commend the responsiveness and comms of the vendor.

I've bought a full set of triwing bits sizes 1 - 6 but none fit the tg01 and i prefer a bit rather than a seperate screwdriver that way i can keep them all together ...

I'm sorry, although I have several high-quality driver sets with many different interchangeable bits, I've not so far come across any which include a suitable tri-wing. Even if they are available somewhere, I very much doubt they would be sold on their own, but would love to get to know of a source...

For anyone still interested in Tri-wing screwdriver for Toshiba TG01: I have done a bit of searching, and have a screwdriver for Nintendo, etc., but haven't yet tried to use it; it's a little big. I think the TG01 uses a slightly special size which isn't available anywhere. I will eventually try the one I have (haven't yet), but have found some comments on the Web that suggest the cheap ones off eBay can be made to work with care, or can be filed down. Here is what I have found, mostly Google-translated:
http://pdaclub.pl/forum/tg01/rozwarstwiony-wyswietlacz/
Q: Tri wings should have every service (buy a set with several tips) so to throw the can someone give. But the fact when submitting it together I recommend you use other screws ... Torx not even a krzyzaczki I dowalil for peace of mind. Interesting screws can wyczaic in atrapach as anyone can access. Ps. how to replace the digitizer has just let me know where and in what condition you purchased. Ps2. Is the digitizer glued to the screen Tosi or just fast?
A: I would not say. This TRIWINGS an unusual size. Differs from those that I have seen for sale (slightly, but enough to damage the screw). Digitizer is glued to the glass, is an integral part of the housing. It is not glued to the screen. If the delamination is between the digitizer and glass enclosure.
A2: That will damage the screw a half bids

Polish again.
Generally, the TG01 digitizer is not a separate foil applied to the screen that could be the name as a separate part (this was the case SE W960i) and the whole united to the front of the chassis. These "pseudohardware" buttons are extremely primitive parts. The entire digitizer connects to the board via a ribbon and a few tiny pins.

As for Tri-Wing, you just have to buy this from ebay for $2-3, for Wii. Then, unfortunately, take a tiny interior nail file [or very small file] and file off the tip, because it is too thick to toskowe screw. (The translation varies a lot between different translators, alternatives in square brackets, but "nail file" seems better than "lip balm"! I'd expect to "file down the wings" rather than "file off the tip")

The screwdriver I got is a bit big but if you apply and we support well, it does not mark the screw (Le tournevis que j'ai eu est un peu gros mais si on s'applique et qu'on appui bien, on ne marque pas les vis)

Please forgive reiterrating my previous post.... but I'd strongly suggest sticking with the 'right' tool for the job !
The Tri-Wing I posted some time back is still available on Amazon.... it works perfectly with no careful filing or other adjustments at all.
I've used mine to dis/re-assemble TG01s on numerous occasions and it remains as good as new. No chewing of the blades. No visible wear and a key part of the essential toolkit
Best regards,
Kevin

Thanks to kevinpwhite for very useful information.
> I'd strongly suggest sticking with the 'right' tool for the job !
I totally agree, but everything I've read, with the very useful exception of your post, says there isn't such a tool. I had seen your earlier post, but that tool advertises itself as "works with Nintendo Wii, DS, DS Lite & DSi - Hi-TEC ESSENTIALS", as do all the others, which apparently can be pressed into successful TG01 service with some difficulty. I looked carefully, but nowhere in the item description or reviews is TG01 listed. From what I read I came to the conclusion that the TG01 screwhead was slightly different from the others, and a Nintendo screwdriver wouldn't work.
> I've used mine to dis/re-assemble TG01s on numerous occasions and it remains as good as new. No chewing of the blades. No visible wear and a key part of the essential toolkit
So hopefully this is the tool for the job and I'll now try one. Thanks again for responding (and keeping abreast of this old thread). The TG01 works very well for me with a non-original ROM, and I'd like to get my spare one working. Lack of support from any new applications is annoying, though.
(added 27 June) I've now received the screwdriver and yes, it does fit! It's not too big as others are; if anything it's slightly small and feels less firmly locked into screwhead than I'd normally expect. But it works fine, unlike screwdrivers also sold as suitable for Nintendo. It's marked with the Triwing symbol and the size, "Y0". So thanks again to kevinpwhite, and the TG01 tool problem is indeed solved.
Best wishes, pol098

The BEST replacement stylus?

Everyone in the office just got new phones, most people chose D810 - Trinity. From the rate of broken styluses so far it seems we're going to need to order some soon. What's the best? Overall quality is more important than having a ballpoint. Search didn't turn up any obvious favorites. Links to sellers very much appreciated.
(Do NOT twist your original stylus. I wish I could say they snap like twigs but your average twig is considerably stronger!)
How the .... can you break them? they are really robust.
i need a white replacement also, i would like a original one if possible.
I lost one, and i want a spare stylus just in case.
could someone give some help on this, i just seem to find black one (and besides the color i dont know if they fit well..)
thanks

Twist... as if you are trying to unscrew the top of the stylus. Not hard to do unintentionally if you are getting it out one handed.
I have these ones that have a ball point pen built in as well. They seem solid (they actually feel more solid that the original), the tip is not overly hard and it means you have a pen handy as well for the times you need on.

However I don't know if he has then in white, best to check with the seller.
When I bought them they took about 4 days to get to me in Sydney.

I thought this as well when i originally looked at this thread. But yesterday I dropped my stylus, it landed on rocks from a height of around 4 foot and broke.
www.boxwave.com
We brought around 12 unit of Dopod D810, 11 unit black color and 1 white color.
Almost all black color D810 user broke their stylus.
Local Dopod service center allowed the stylus to be exchange within the warrenty period, but I believed Dopod won't re-engineer and redesign their stylus and will give us the same 'hightech' same quality stylus as replacement.
A simple drop from anywhere 1 feet above ground will break the stylus into two ..Arh! Is so frustrating .. Goash!

Digitizer Rev number

My TF700 Screen (and digitzier) where shuttered (I left it on the car roof and drove, when I realized what I have done and drove back, I saw it on the road after a car drove over it).
Luckily, everything seems to works fine (connected it through HDMI and USB mouse) and aside some metal dents, it seems fully functional.
My question:
My digitizer flat cable has the marking "5184N FPC-1 REV: 3" while every LCD+digitizer combo out there has the marking "5184N FPC-1 REV: 2".
(Interestingly enough, when buying digitizer alone, there are planty of rev 3 ones).
Does it matter?

Sure, here are some pictures, I hope my s2 camera can communicate the subtle dents, if not, I can later take some shots with a real camera.
(Note that I opened the tablet, you'll notice at the upper right corner what seems like a seperation of the metal casing, it's not, I just placed the screen on top loosely to take the pictures).
I also posted the sleeve the TF700 was in during "the incident". The wheel marks off the case are already gone, but back then I tried to measure them against my car's wheel, and they where almost the same width, so I assessed (maybe wrongfully?) that it matches roughly a mid-size family car (I drive a Renault Fluence).
Solved - YAY
I thought I'd post an epilog...
I've ordered and received the replacement panel, set me back ~129 USD (including shipping)
(Ordered from Aliexpress.com).
Replacement require you to be super gentle, those little hinges on the connector will break super-easly, do not apply for to them, they should be lifted up to remove the cable and pressed down to secure it.
Since the metal casing got dents hear and there, the screen doesn't sit 100% (you'll notice it in the picture) but it's really not too bad.
(I could of course try and re-dent it so it fits more tightly in, maybe I will do so eventually).
All in all, it was a positive experience, everything works smooth, screen looks great, I personally can't tell any diff from the original screen in term of sharpness, colors, brightness etc.
Best regards.

I have the exact same problem. I took mine apart and see that mine too is marked ""5184N FPC-1 REV: 3". Which part did you actually purchase? I went on aliexpress and it looks like rev 3 is no longer available. Wondering if other revs would work.
i would like to if it is possible to use the 5184N FPC-1 REV: 2 when orginally it was a 5184N FPC-1 REV: 3. Will it work in the tablet
Did it work?

Have similar problem with revision number.
My TF700 has TCP10D47 rev V.02, but on ebay available only v0.1.
Some sellers wrote in item description that v.01 and v0.2 are compatible, some that not compatible.
Does anyone have information about revision compatibility ?

No need to flash anything, just remove the old, connect the new, power up and everything works?
My wife stepped on my TF700 (my fault, had it on the floor next to our bed, she came in and it was pitch dark...).
I have just cracked it open by the help from the tool set and instructions on ifixit.com, and noticed the digitizer is a Rev 3, but the ebay and aliexpress are Rev 2.
So if I understand you correctly, I should just go ahead and buy one of the 5184 fpc 1 Rev 2 digitizers and install it as soon as it arrives...
Thanks,

Yes that is correct the 5184 focus rev 2 will work on your tablet. Based on what happened it seems your LCD is fine so you are in luck. There is a thin plastic frame between the LCD (led) and digitizer. Use a hair dryer to melt the glue so you can remove the LCD first then try to remove all the cracked glass off the frame. Its very time consuming so be patient. Remember to also buy some two sided sticky tape to seal the new digitzer back into place.
Good luck!!

can you please share the aliexpress supplier for the touch screen glass? my 3 year old tossed my pad like a Frisbee and need to replace.
How about replacing a Rev 3 with an 01?
I purchased a Rev 2 to replace my Rev 3 a month ago, it worked perfect - until today when my 9 month old daughter pulled the tablet down from the table by the charge cable. It apparantly landed on the corner so the digitizer is once again cracked.
To my surprise the price of the Rev 2 digitizers seems to have gone up by 3X, at least on eBay.
Rev 1 (or .01, or 0.1) are still reasonably priced.
Can I go for a Rev 1 for my tablet who originally had a Rev 3 that was successfully replaced by a Rev 2?
Has anyone tried?
Thanks,
Christopher
Rev 3 available from eBay @ $110:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400623625242
Just ordered, seller has 2 left.
I just scanned aliexpress, no Rev 3 or Rev 2 (0.2) available (at least not for sane amounts of $$).
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but finding an answer to my problem I think this is the best bet.
I have a rev 2 that according to the ASUS repair centre needed to be replaced as I experienced sporadic touch registrations on the screen from time to time. On-line I could only find the rev 3 digitizer and after reading someone used a .2 to replace a .3 I figured it would work.
So after the long wait finally arrived and I went though the pain-staking process of removing the old LCD and .2 digitizer.
But ever since installing the .3 it detects very little to no input.
I plugged the old one back in and just left it hanging to the side and that seems to be working, but strange no go with the new one.
Someone mentioned a firmware a few posts back, is this something I need to look more into for compatibility with the rev .3?
Thanks!

Broken touchscreen

Hello dear community, my dreadiest fear just realized today :
my X2 decided to make one with the concrete...
luckily, both with my heart, only the touchscreen shattered from this unholy union.
So now I want to replace only the broken thing (less expensive) with a replacement part I found on aliexpress (25 € for those wandering), BUT I was unable to find any clue about the separation of the LCD and the touchscreen :
Are they inextricably bound together as the galaxy S series are ?
Or are they just attached with some tape as any good reparable phone should be ?
I was also wandering whether the screen parts were the same between the X1 and the X2 !
If you have any material showing how to proceed with the separation, and care to share them, I'd be in your dept forever !!
Boujou bien !

The disassembly should be the same as the X1 video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NOG1SISbKw
Yes I have seen this video, but it is only showing the removing of the screen/touchscreen from the phone, not the separation of the LCD from the touchscreen (they are both broken in the video, hence no point to mess with them !)

They are fused together so it's not even worth trying to remove them. 99.99% of the time you won't be successful.
Good to know !
I almost succeeded once, with a heated bench, But I'm not willing to try that again…
Did you have to fix yours already ? Any clue about backward compatibility with the X1 assembly (20 % cheaper !) ?

I imagine they would be the same display assembly but I'm not 100 percent sure.
I Sat on my Huawei honor X2 -Screen is not working Properly
Hello (posted this in wrong area a few weeks ago)
I sat on my X2 GEM-703L under several pillows - bend was 1/2 inch - the top & bottom were 1/2 inch lower than center . I carefully bent it straight (there is a small kink in metal frame right side just above center button. Everything else seems to work beside the screen. *** I will push "4" and the key adjacent character is recognized, also it will type on its own or type 3-5 characters when I only pushed one...
Questions:. Does this sound like touch screen Replacement will fix these issues??? Or is thier additional interface hardware attached with the touch screen, or both?
- I really like that phone - hoping it is not a lost cause...
Thanks for your help

Hello Gary, sorry just saw your post.
I Think this might be fixed by a change of screen, but the problem might also come from the bent frame too.
For the tactile to work properly, and not register wrong input, the screen needs to be grounded and I think also calibrated to the phone caracteristics. If you just replace the screen, it's environment would not be the same as it is suppose to be anymore (frame with a kink) hence there is a risk that the new screen might reacts weirdly, registering ghost input etc... Because the screen might not rest flat on the support frame, and the contacts used for grounding might not be working anymore.
I have a spare screen that I*just bought for mine, unfortunately my problem seems to come from the motherboard, so the screen is useless for me.
If you want to give it a try, and live in the US, pm me !
If you don't want to do it (the screen comes without a frame, so you have to use your old one)
I'm willing to buy your phone to try to save mine !
Best,
Quentin.

Smashed screen

Dropped my phone yesterday and the front screen is smashed, the phone seems to be on and working OK but the touchscreen doesn't work.
What's the best thing to do? Replacement screen (will that include the touch panel replacement) and do it myself? Seems a bit tricky with heat gun etc to melt glue
Or get a phone repair shop to do it?
If you have the right equipment , you can do the repair easily yourself, if not I suggest you better have someone else doing it for you, because you could end up destroying more than you made.
First and most important thing, buy a new lcd WITH FRAME, you even better buy a original used grade A one, than only a lcd/touch assembly that you have to put in with these adhesive sticker sets you can buy. These stickers are worth nothing, more sooner than later they will loosen up and you end up with a sh*tphone.
Also make sure that you have a hot air station, where you easily can control the heat. If you need to fix your Phone with a hiardryer, I suggest you just leave it for what it is and have a better equipt-person do the repair for you.
Working with uncontrolled heat on a Phone is asking for trouble. Too cold and you rip things, Too hot and you burn things.

Thanks for your advice. I'll look into getting a proper heat gun.

Does this look the part? It doesn't say Sony on the picture of it, not sure where I can find an A grade replacement. Looking for a replacement with the same good contrast ratio as the original.
(I assume this is the kind of thing you recommend against: https://www.amazon.de/Xperia-Displa...470218354&sr=8-1&keywords=xperia+z3+lcd+frame looks like it has to be put together with stickers)
(And a tip for anyone with touchscreen not working, you can plug in a USB mouse and navigate around your phone if you need to check something, or get something off the phone. )
Hey Sean,
That one on Ebay is a generic one, probably a copy one with a low quality glass/digitizer on and without a Sony label to avoid problems with customs.
As with all things in life, you get what you pay for. 40 dollars for a new lcd with frame assembly is cheap, and cheap price equals cheap quality, as simple as that.
Look for OEM quality with earspeaker and microphone installed, these are attached to the glass with sticky tape too, when you have to remove them from your frame and re-attach them to the new , it never ever is going to be 100% closed again and water and dust will enter your Phone.
Also , these cheap copy screens have a low contrast ratio and low quality backlights, white will not be white , but will be yellow-ish. Just nothing to repair your high end smartphone with.
For a rework station, look for Atten, these solder/hot air stations have decent quality for their price ( +-70€).
Thanks a lot for your advice. I'll avoid the cheaper generic screens.

This one looks better I think. Original Sony screen with frame. I'm close to buying this one, I notice it doesn't seem to have speaker or microphone (or front camera?), but there doesn't seem to be any for sale on eBay which ticks all the boxes.
Hey Sean,
It is your money, so I am not the one to tell you what to do , but personally I wouldn't spend 175 euro on a screen, when the phone's market price is about 200 - 300 euro for a second hand.
Look for a grade A , like I have a D6633, i came up this lcd :
http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/LCD-Dis...894590?hash=item19fb74707e:g:D6IAAOSwXj5XGk0y
7O euro's for a 100 % OEM lcd frame with installed earspeaker is very reasonable. With the 100 euro you save, you can buy a decent hot air station you can use on all your future phones when you need to replace some hardware.
Did you also notice the copper conductive tape in this grade A frame ? This is also a good indication that you are dealing with a 100% Original lcd. Generic grade A ones that they are trying to sell as an OEM will lack this tape.

Thanks, that screen you linked for the D6633 is a great price!
Can't find one for D6603 anywhere near that. The lowest I can find is 120 euro: http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/Origina...120246?hash=item5d62d58a36:g:X4kAAOSwI-BWKpkm
I'll wait another day or two then search again.

[Guide] Fan replacements (requires soldering)

Edit: This fan from Digi-Key isn't the same fan as the stock one. I wouldn't advise buying it until bignazpwns confirms if his method works.
The fan in this phone is made of the softest type of plastic available. If you've messed with it at all you've probably broken it accidentally. Or, in my case you dropped the phone and the fan began clicking.
There are no results if you google "red magic 3 fan replacement", but luckily I've found the fan itself (not the fan housing) on Digi-Key for roughly $18.72 (remove the space): www .digikey.com/product-detail/en/delta-electronics/BSB01703HA3-00CAJ/603-2066-ND/7403223
A guide on how to take it out/put it in can be derived from this video (remove the space): www .youtube.com/watch?v=JiS24PRIq-A&t=268s
Helo, thanks for the info. Do you know where this fan ships from which country ?

That fan won't work. It's a 4 wire pwm can in the RM3 that fan is a 3 wire.
I ordered one I broke my fan so I'm going to see if it has the -FP+ like the stock fan and just needs a wire or if I gotta transplant the board. Delta said it's a custom fan so I'll post what I get to get it back up and running.
Update. They offer no replacement fans what so ever and no help at all other then send it in for an extremely costly repair that will take over a month to complete.
I'll be making a guide this week about adapting the bsb01703ha3-00 as a replacement. There is no reason for them not to sell this fan or provide any info. 3 wire fan should work but will have no pwm control but I think there might be a solder point on it for the pwm lead. I'll post my findings as well as If I swap out the fans pcb with the OEM one. That should be the best way to do it and use the new fan as a donor housing and fan.
You will need to mod the housing tho since the blade is just held in by it's magnets and could move when dropped. This is why the OEM has that little bar over it. But I'll make a guide for everyone and save them a ton of money and time.
If you have a sla or dlp printer and you need a new housing here ya go.

Sorry I've been meaning to make an update. I had the same idea you had for the -FP+ thing, and was just going to try connecting everything judging from the labels on (remove space) www .delta-fan.com/Download/Spec/BSB01703HA3-00CAJ.pdf , and connect + to + and - to -, and try both remaining ones with the middle wire. Unfortunately my fan's cables were too short to do that.
What I wound up doing was taking the circuit board (with all 4 cables) and very carefully placing it in the housing of the new fan, replacing its board. I soldered everything back up and nothing. It wouldn't spin at all, even on boot. So as far as I know this isn't a viable method, pending bignazpwns' response. I've already updated the OP to reflect. Big ups to bignazpwns for going the extra mile with the replacements

Note.
Replacement fan is much louder due to the fact 100% is a bit more RPM. Just replaced the fan with one with a replacement blade assembly, coils off the aftermarket fan all on the stock pcb. This gets the auto speed control back and makes preform like stock. 100% is a little bit less in terms of RPM but much more quiet.
Just note swapping coils is not easy.
You will need to remove 1/2 a coil so you can get to the other solder pad. Red Magic fan used SMT coils and the replacement is soldered by hand. You will also need to apply light heat to remove them. They are stuck down with adhesive. I used a hot air reflow station but you really need to watch the heat because you can cause it to uncoil. Scale from 1-10 for soldering skill this is a 10.
The replacement fan drops right in and offeresore rpm to move more air at 100% just connect the 3 wires and be done with it. I'm always here to give advice and help of you need to do this. Also for adhesive I use this. AJ Sign World Best 1" Ultra-Thin... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NBJVU04?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share it's thin and super strong. If you work on phones I highly recommend you get a roll.

NP. I destroyed mine with 100psi of air lol. No big deal easy fix and it's only hard if you make it. I'll probably swap the replacement fan back in for the higher rpm and more air flow. On and off control is good enough for me.
What happened with all of these info removed ? My fan started to make weird noises and i start investigating on its replacement... The most disappointing fact is i barely used the fan and the phone has around 6 month :|

No I removed the info. People need to realize no on won here owes people anything. But for some reason they think they do. So all info was removed. People can figure out what needs to be done on there own.
Alex I'll help you out. Just send me a private message.
