Wrong board.
Ha ha. Wrong board but I was waiting to see this here anyway. For the record, I'm cloning the source to my dev server as we speak
Edit: Looks like the drop isn't completed yet as my cloning has stalled lol
Now if Google could somehow force HTC to give us source then we would-be in heaven right now

yeah, the camera is going to need source to get it fully functional. At least 4g shouldn't be a problem now since wimax is built into source.

Isn't that just built from the SDK though? With source out they can do proper ports! I am very optimistic and for me it will be a race between stable ICS on my Evo and a Sprint release of the Galaxy Nexus. At the rate the Gnex is sitting unreleased this may be a legit race.
Anyway, this is more speculation and not really dev discussion so I will bow out before we go even more OT.

Hi everyone,
Today will be marked in history as the first day that the Xiaomi company decided to begin open sourcing its Android application development to the masses.
Head on over to: https://github.com/MiCode for the run down of apps which have already been made open source. Other applications and code is likely to be published in the very near future.
We would like to thank the engineers, admins and other staff at Xiaomi for their continued support and just to say thanks for listening to our feedback.
Currently we have a very close working relationship with the developers / test engineers and product managers at Xiaomi. Your queries are being passed on so please continue to give us your comments.
Thanks,
Mark

Hopefully not butcher it.
I'd be happy with 4G capability on it, and that's it.

htc jelly bean kernel source info

I emailed HTC's open source department about kernel source and this is the email I gotHTC
to me
Dear Dustin Stoker,
Hey, Dustin, thanks for contacting us about the kernal source for the One XL. In regards to this, getting that phones source code is something we are working on getting up. I know this is something that is being worked on and we don't just want to put up flawed software for the development community to use. So we want it to be as close to perfect and include the patches to previous problems we've run into as well. So, that is why that we don't really have an ETA at this point. I thank you for your patience with us in this and I hope you have a great day!
Hope it comes soon.

Um, if this is an official response from HTC, they have horrible spelling, grammar and sentence formation.
It also seems highly unlikely that a paid developer spelled "kernel" wrong.

Here's HTC's standard response:
Dear $YOUR_NAME
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding Kernel Source code. I know that this code is important to the development community and I will be happy to assist you with the correct information regarding this.
HTC is committed to assisting customers in getting kernel source code for HTC devices. We will release source code in accordance with any applicable open source license terms. We are working to release appropriate kernel code bases as soon as possible after device launch but we cannot guarantee the exact time frame. Other source codes, which are not required to be disclosed by the open source license terms, unfortunately cannot be disclosed by HTC as they may be proprietary to HTC or its licensor.
Please keep an eye on http://developer.htc.com for more information. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, $YOUR_NAME.
