google reader . Which is the best - Android Apps and Games

I have tried so many google reader apps. But could not find one thats really good
In iphone i have newsrack - Very good one and has nice preview of images with each icon.
Feedsquare is one with similar fns but sync is terrible
Any suggestions.

I like greader. It reminds me of the mobile site, and is very easy to navigate.

Did you tried Newsrob?

I used to use Newsrob, but now I've switched to using the Reader mobile site - it's great. No good for you if you need offline reading of course, but it gets my vote

I think they all SUCK. I don't have a lot in my list, perhaps 12 sources, half of them news, other tech stuff. And syncing in every Greader app I've found takes forever, often either downloading some X number of total articles and skipping ALL the rest (wtf??) or downloading thousands of articles. Hello, X number of new articles?
So I just read in the default browser, it works great, but obviously it's not offline... Don't try it in Opera, it renders horribly.

Using the Greader site, works ok.
But since I'm using Feedly (Firefox extension) on my laptop I'm really looking forward to their Android app that should be released shortly.

NewsRob works for me.

Newsrob does not give a thumbnail in the list view.
This i find very useful.
See the attached image to see what i mean

Shortcut to the mobile page for me.

gReader is the best in my opinion, tried most everything.

I don't like gReader, it's too damn iPhony. This is Android, no clue why the dev follows Apple's GUI guidelines here lol
Anyway, my vote goes to FeedR, slick and fast. Although if I haven't purchased it, then I would just use the mobile site.
Looking forward to an official app from Google.

Yup, another vote for the mobile site here.
The big problem for me with the Android apps is that they only do the feeds and not the shares from friends (e.g. shares from Google Buzz).

have u all try feedR? i think it's the best from all google reader apps i've tried

Maybe because Android doesn't have a good GUI guideline? Have you noticed how inconsistent Android apps are?

There is a good ui guidline for Android. There is one also for icons, widgets, and what not. Check out the Android Dev site. It doesn't have to be very detailed and covers everything, but it sure preserves the Android style and atmosphere which is NOTHING like gReader.

Did you guys try the mobile site optimized for the iPhone?

I find it displays the feeds fast and big enough to comfortably read without zooming in.

Which Twitter app is the best? [ROUND 2]

It's round 2 of the Twitter client battle for Android. Since the first poll, many apps were introduced and had been updated. So for Round 2, I've narrowed it down to the top Twitter clients.
Round 1 results: Touiteur wins!
Of the numerous Twitter apps available in the Android Market, free or paid, which one have you decided to you use after trying out the others?
I'm pretty sure most of you guys (like me) have tried multiple twitter clients for our Android phones.

I like twicca.

I use Seesmic..would be the perfect client if it had name auto-completion which they said is in the works.
Still think touiteur is way ahead in this debate .. Official is nice however i hate the UI ..
Still touiteur well ahead of the rest
Before I use Twidroid. Now Official Twitter app is the best.
I use touituer but would use the official Twitter app if it had a black color theme. The pure white drives me nuts, but I love how it functions and its tie in with the OS sync and contacts etc.

The official twitter client would be my favorite if the timeline didn't move to the top after refreshing. They also need a better widget to compose with, rather than one that shows a single tweet at a time from your timeline. I don't to a lot of posting (mostly just a reader), but I'm sure others would want that.
Twicca is still my favorite since it is super clean and works the way I expect a twitter client to work.
Touiteur is nice, but the UI is kind of messy.

Twicca for the functionality and clean ui
i use tweetcaster. I like the layout and the different themes. It would be handy if i could accept new requests instead of having to go to the twitter website.
Also, does anyone know of any twitter app that utilises the twitlonger system ?

I know that some of the ibore apps use this and it would sometimes be real useful.

Google Chrome to Phone

Do you use Google Chrome to Phone. I just read a review about it. Chrome to Phone isn’t a new product — I’ve been using it since May. Chrome to Phone is a simple combination of a Chrome extension and Android application that allows you to click one button in your browser, and sync what you were viewing right to your Android phone to be check out at a later time.
Reading a news article but need to head out the door to drive to work? Simply click the Chrome to Phone button on your Chrome browser, launch the Chrome to Phone application on your Android device at work, and it immediately takes you to the webpage you were viewing at home so you can pick up right where you left off. I use this feature all the time, and assume many of you would as well.
Google Chrome to Phone lets you easily share links, maps, and currently selected phone numbers and text between your computer running Chrome and your phone.
Very handy! When using your computer’s browser, right-click on an image/link & send that link/image to phone. I used it just now to send an .mp3 link of a 101Mb DJ set to my phone – very simple! Very little hassle…

If you are having problems with chrome in xda, first try running the browser in porn mode with your extensions off to make sure it's not one of them...
I had a world of troubles using adblock with some sites in chrome, and in the end decided i'd rather deal with ads then try to sort out exceptions for each of those sites.
I use Fox To Phone (Firefox version of Chrome To Phone) and it works beautifully.

Can someone post the ebook app?

Looking for the apk. I'm hoping it'll install on a Galaxy S phone as well as the email app did. Looking at a video, the ebook app that Samsung put together is rock solid on the reading front, and you can import books too? Pretty much every other ebook app I've seen fails at one or the other.
Its on the market, called ebooks by kobo. Also, its not exactly spectacular.

No I don't think he means the Kobo one.Kobo is the reader included in the reader hub, which should be different to the other one ebooks app that actually looks like the iPad version and that is great.Let me check if I can find in the filesystem and I'll post it

I was anxiously waiting that too, but was sorely disappointed. Ok, it looks cool and the page transition effects are nice.. but BOY is it slow!! It takes ABOUT 3-4 times longer to load the same book in the "eBook" app than it does in Aldiko. The eBook app also hangs and FCs once in awhile, which Aldiko has never done to me.
I heartily recommend you'd try Aldiko rather than get pissed off at that eBook app. Aldiko handles importing really well (except the stupid notifications, but what ever) and is a treat to use. No fancy effects, just sliding pages, but when I'm reading I'd rather read than watch lagging page-transition effects. That may just be me, though.

So you are saying that wait 5 sec is too much? I never had a FC with ebook app but I had with Aldiko jumping between chapters (depending on how the chapters structure was made).

No. I am saying that waiting for 40-60 sec to open a book is frustrating when you want to read. Aldiko opens the same book in roughly 10-15 secs. Also the Tab's eBook app seems to someone lag entirely too much when drawing the transition animations.

Anyways, I like to use Aldiko more because that's faster and the animations lag on the eBook app.

Well, so far no go. Won't install, either with a package manager, or dumping the apk/odex into /system/app. Anyone know how I might try and deodex this? My current rom is deodexed. Maybe that will help?
Also, I use aldiko right now, but I'm a sucker for the fancy effects, at least if done right. The nook app did them excellently, but cannot import well to save it's life.
Hi All,
I just bought Galaxy tab and I am loving tab eBook app, not just because of animations but because of few important features like dictionary which is not available in Readers Hub Kobo.
One quick question- How can I purchase and import books in Tab ebook App. There is no download/buy button.
I have downloaded few books in kobo but I would like to open them in Tab's eBook app. Please help how can I do that.

[Q] Google doc app in Market

Can Somebody try the app out on the transformer? And is it optimized for honeycomb?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Ive read in reviews there is alread an app on the tablet pre installed that is compatible with google docs
It is not optimised for tablets, essentially it's just the website in a browser window.

Thanks for the notice on this new application. From the comments on the market it doesn't look like it is optimized for tablets, but I'm interested to hear from current Transformer owners on how it functions.

I wouldn't say excellent. Google Docs is much more than storage. I hope Google will fix the Android browser to be able to work with Google Docs without any apps. Dual booting Google Chrome OS would be great too.

It is indeed just opening the docs up in a browser. At first I had a login issue because it hadn't passed authentication yet and I briefly saw the Google Docs mobile login site on it. It has the exact same functionality as if you had opened the Doc up in the browser. It's just a pretty interface to the Google Docs site
Just tried it on my eee pad. It works fine but as stated before it's not optimised layout-wise for honeycomb. Does what its meant to do though.
With the Google Docs app, you can take pictures of text and have it converted to an editable document. My question if anyone has tried it yet is this.......If you take a picture with text AND a picture, does it import the pic also?
I get my Transformer in the a.m. tomorrow, and if no one can answer this, I will try it when I get a chance and follow-up, in case anyone else is interested.

Most of these guys are kind of slow. There is an actual app that is not via the browser. I'm not sure if its optimized for HC but my guess is yes, why wouldn't they make it for all platforms. I used it today on my EVO so I'm positive it works on HC.
Yea it's a application in the market. I hope that's what people are responding about. Also the app works well on my g2 for whatever that's worth.

I think the confusion is that the front end of the Google docs app where you browse your docs is NOT from the web, it's an actual UI from the app itself. However, once you start viewing a doc or editing it, you are then basically thrown back into the mobile Google Docs webpage, which has very limited functionality.
What I'm saying is, don't expect it to replace a dedicated Office suite anytime soon...
I think on tablets Google Docs should work without problems in browser. That it does not right now shows that the browsers are very limited and similar web apps won't work neither.

[WIDGET][3.0+] Simple RSS Widget (scrollable)

Hey guys
I'm on Android 4.0 since some days and I really like the new possibilites for widget: to be scroll- and resizable. As I couldn't find any RSS widget which uses these features, I decided to code it myself.
And now I proudly present my newest app: Simple RSS Widget.
The app is currently in beta status and might contain some bugs, so please don't be too hard with the market reviews
The app is free & without ads or scary permissions. As it makes use of the new widget features from Honeycomb & ICS, you need at least Android 3.0 to use this widget!
Download:
Android Market
AndroidPIT
Looks great, however I can't install, the Market tells me my Nexus One is not compatible - need to wait for ICS. ;-)

does that happen on a specific feed? if so, can you PM me the url?
I tried to use this widget to show the feed http://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/.rss but I found the story text is not formatted and placed all on one line. In addition the texts are littered with """.
I don't mind it being all on one line so much, but properly displaying the " would be nice.
Sometimes when unlocking phone, the widget is empty. A refresh is needed
I don't know if this thread is still active, but needed somewhere to ask, How can I delete the default feeds, from "Simple RSS" and add manual feeds, no matter what I do it keeps on reverting back to the default Feeds. please direct me to right direction to fix.
Thank you
