[WIDGET][3.0+] Simple RSS Widget (scrollable) - Android Apps and Games

Hey guys
I'm on Android 4.0 since some days and I really like the new possibilites for widget: to be scroll- and resizable. As I couldn't find any RSS widget which uses these features, I decided to code it myself.
And now I proudly present my newest app: Simple RSS Widget.
The app is currently in beta status and might contain some bugs, so please don't be too hard with the market reviews
The app is free & without ads or scary permissions. As it makes use of the new widget features from Honeycomb & ICS, you need at least Android 3.0 to use this widget!
Download:
Android Market
AndroidPIT

Looks great, however I can't install, the Market tells me my Nexus One is not compatible - need to wait for ICS. ;-)

new beta for blackbearblanc, changelog:
multiple rss feeds should be possible now
option to use Roboto light on title/text on Android 4.1
should now also support atom feeds

But great so far

Hi j4velin,
Is there any way to import feeds from Google Reader.
Thanks
Greg.

There is an app called greader which pulls all my rss feeds from Google Reader. Maybe you can check to see how it does that.

does that happen on a specific feed? if so, can you PM me the url?

I tried to use this widget to show the feed http://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/.rss but I found the story text is not formatted and placed all on one line. In addition the texts are littered with """.
I don't mind it being all on one line so much, but properly displaying the " would be nice.

Sometimes when unlocking phone, the widget is empty. A refresh is needed

I don't know if this thread is still active, but needed somewhere to ask, How can I delete the default feeds, from "Simple RSS" and add manual feeds, no matter what I do it keeps on reverting back to the default Feeds. please direct me to right direction to fix.
Thank you

Which Twitter app is the best? [ROUND 2]

It's round 2 of the Twitter client battle for Android. Since the first poll, many apps were introduced and had been updated. So for Round 2, I've narrowed it down to the top Twitter clients.
Round 1 results: Touiteur wins!
Of the numerous Twitter apps available in the Android Market, free or paid, which one have you decided to you use after trying out the others?
I'm pretty sure most of you guys (like me) have tried multiple twitter clients for our Android phones.

Let's get some more comments and votes
I like twicca.

I use Seesmic..would be the perfect client if it had name auto-completion which they said is in the works.
Still think touiteur is way ahead in this debate .. Official is nice however i hate the UI ..
Still touiteur well ahead of the rest
Before I use Twidroid. Now Official Twitter app is the best.
I use touituer but would use the official Twitter app if it had a black color theme. The pure white drives me nuts, but I love how it functions and its tie in with the OS sync and contacts etc.

The official twitter client would be my favorite if the timeline didn't move to the top after refreshing. They also need a better widget to compose with, rather than one that shows a single tweet at a time from your timeline. I don't to a lot of posting (mostly just a reader), but I'm sure others would want that.
Twicca is still my favorite since it is super clean and works the way I expect a twitter client to work.
Touiteur is nice, but the UI is kind of messy.

Agree! It's too flashy for my taste.
Twicca for the functionality and clean ui
i use tweetcaster. I like the layout and the different themes. It would be handy if i could accept new requests instead of having to go to the twitter website.
Also, does anyone know of any twitter app that utilises the twitlonger system ?
http://www.twitlonger.com/
I know that some of the ibore apps use this and it would sometimes be real useful.

google reader . Which is the best

I have tried so many google reader apps. But could not find one thats really good
In iphone i have newsrack - Very good one and has nice preview of images with each icon.
Feedsquare is one with similar fns but sync is terrible
Any suggestions.
I like greader. It reminds me of the mobile site, and is very easy to navigate.
Did you tried Newsrob?
I used to use Newsrob, but now I've switched to using the Reader mobile site - it's great. No good for you if you need offline reading of course, but it gets my vote
I think they all SUCK. I don't have a lot in my list, perhaps 12 sources, half of them news, other tech stuff. And syncing in every Greader app I've found takes forever, often either downloading some X number of total articles and skipping ALL the rest (wtf??) or downloading thousands of articles. Hello, X number of new articles?
So I just read in the default browser, it works great, but obviously it's not offline... Don't try it in Opera, it renders horribly.
Using the Greader site, works ok.
But since I'm using Feedly (Firefox extension) on my laptop I'm really looking forward to their Android app that should be released shortly.
NewsRob works for me.

gReader is the best in my opinion, tried most everything.
I don't like gReader, it's too damn iPhony. This is Android, no clue why the dev follows Apple's GUI guidelines here lol
Anyway, my vote goes to FeedR, slick and fast. Although if I haven't purchased it, then I would just use the mobile site.
Looking forward to an official app from Google.
Yup, another vote for the mobile site here.
The big problem for me with the Android apps is that they only do the feeds and not the shares from friends (e.g. shares from Google Buzz).
have u all try feedR? i think it's the best from all google reader apps i've tried

There is a good ui guidline for Android. There is one also for icons, widgets, and what not. Check out the Android Dev site. It doesn't have to be very detailed and covers everything, but it sure preserves the Android style and atmosphere which is NOTHING like gReader.

Worldmate now Available

Just recived an email from worldmate and it is now officially out for Android.
I used to use this App on my P800/900 & my X1. Its essential for anyone who travels a lot.
We have some big news.
We’ve been working on it for a while, listening to your suggestions and using your feedback to improve our product and now that the beta stage is over, we are pleased to announce that WorldMate has finally arrived on the Android Market!
So if you want to switch over to Android, or have already done so, WorldMate can now come with you!
WorldMate for Android includes:
Support for your full travel itinerary
WorldMate automatically builds your itinerary and synchronizes it to Android phonse for easy and immediate access.
Daily weather and travel notifications
WorldMate for Android conveniently alerts you daily, helping you manage all your trips with ease. The Personal Travel Assistant allows you to view current as well as upcoming trips, your meetings and weather forecasts-all in one screen.
Flight Reminders
WorldMate’s flight reminder notifies you 4 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart, making sure you always make that plane. The reminder will provide you with details regarding your flight, as well as button you can click to check your flight status through flightstats.com
Safe travels,
The WorldMate Team
www.worldmate.com
Well Just installed it and its not what it used to be.
It used to have the function to check flights by flight number this seems to be gone. You could also pick a departure and arrival airports and dates and it would show you all the different flights you could take, again gone.
The weather forcast is nice but could do with a widget.
I just can not find it in the Market even trying to scan the barcode. No use! Is there any other way to get it?
yeah this got changed alot. it more web interface now
When I tried to search for a hotel in Amsterdam it show me only one hotel whatever my search criteria was. Strange!!!
Flight search is a big loss. I totally agree.
did you find it on the market? cuz I cant seem to find it anywhere
In my opinion it would be very hard to perfect something like this.
And they may have put more information on one country and just left little for another.
Which is quite careless if they have done that.
I may try and test it later if I can find the .apk file format and install on my phone.
Will give my review on this application later.

Ok. Now I understand. Well it's possible but not like you want, because the FACEBOOK app is developed by Facebook creators so only they can add those things to app. The solution would be to wait for upcoming updates of Facebook and they should add that feature to app. If you want to speed it you can contact facebook developers and ask to add this feature. More users will ask sooner the feature would be available.
And another way you should be able to use it go to browser and then to facebook where you really will able to use it
And press THANKS appreciate my help

First off, if you were to keep up with that app you would know that guy abandoned it. Also he did not develop it at all. He used appyet just like I did, hence why I said "put together" I never said I developed that app ever. The icon is defiantly different, I am still looking for a new one but got this one for now due to the first one not displaying correctly for the notifications. I like Flowly a lot, but seeing that it would no longer be updated I decided to make one like it and keep it updated when appyet updated the code, and keep it current with all the new feeds. Also this is temporary while I work on my own that I actually developed, once that is done it will replace this one.
If flowly is abandoned and grilledbacon picked up where it was left off, I'm all for it. Good stuff, grilledbacon.
Thanks been looking for a replacement for blinkfeed now I can run nova prime again.
Thanks guys! Working on getting it on the Play Store should be soon now!
Thanks for carrying on the work of the flowly developer. Will there be ability to star articles? The ability to customize sources? Great work so far. Thanks again!

I would prefer that it open in my default browser dude. So that I can carry on reading articles in your app after the links have been opened in the browser. This way I can read on my browser later.
I really like the idea, good job. However, I'll wait till you put it on the Play Store to receive the updates immediately without having to visit this thread again and download the new APK. Another thing, can you please add Ardroid.com to the app (and yes, that's an "R", not an "N")? It is an Arabic news site.
Thank You, and keep up the good work!
I just looked in the Play Store and there's already a TechTalk... That might be a bit of a problem...
I'd actually like to be able to use both an in-app browser AND my default browser. BUT if I had to only have it one way, I definitely want to use my default browser. Also in regard to Flowly, which I still use religiously, thanks for picking up the ball after it's abandonment.

I have noticed that, too. But I think he can maybe change the name?
Just used the app for an hour. Ignore my earlier comments about needing an external browser. The current implementation is perfect.
However, I would still like the ability to delete some sources. Great work so far! Thanks Dev!
Awesome app, very nice to have all the news in one place, but the app icon is really plain. Maybe some material flare would be nice. I mean no offense by that. You did a great job getting it all into one app.

I'd assume so. But since I found this app because of a post in the XDA Portal I'd probably suggest changing the name before it becomes too widely known. Better to rename with 50 users than with 5000 users...

You could at least give credit to the original developer of the app in the OP.
