[Q] rom cooking help - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I want to cook a rom for my mytouch 1.2 from the T-Mobile stock rom. I have the latest kitchen and stock T-Mobile rom and all. I cooked one up and it booted but because my sim card isn't active, or maybe it's because of a problem with phone, it wouldn't let me start the activation part. How can I remove the sim card check? And is there a way I can have the setup skip for people who don't have data plan

with all the views you would think there would be someone that could help... lol

Guess nobody knows anything or wants to share what they know

changing tmobile extended rom for vodafone

Ok, i have spent ages trying to do something that i am sure is possible but i just can't get my head round it.
I have installed the latest t-mobile rom, no problems.
I know how to view the extended rom but i want to change this for the vodafone extended rom,
I know that ican install the voda rom cabs afterwards to remove the tmobile stuff but i want to do it permantly so that everytime i do a hard reset its all done automatically.
Should i be able to download a rom that is already altered like this anywhere?
If this makes any sense to anyone i would appreciate any help because i just don't know where i am going wrong...
Thanks
Why don't you install vodafone version instead ? (the german version)
Hi
check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36220
i did the same but with a Qtek EXT Rom, download the latest Vodafone Update you can find, then just replace the EXT Rom file from the Tmobile or other update and replace it for the one you want, run normal update procedure and voila
Thanks for the replies, compumad, i can't seem to see your file on the ftp site?
I understand what you are saying etc but i'm afraid i don't understand how to do this at all.
What i need is some very friendly and clever person who is not so lazy as me  to make the rom for me (it is christmas after all).
Failing that i might just give in and buy a new phone on contract and stop playing about with them!! lol.
cheers

I sure they wont re-lock it. However the OEM in this rom is for the Sprint CDMA version. I'm pretty sure it won't function correctly on the unlocked GSM. The CDMA versions are pretty different.
As for odds of success, I have no idea. No one to my knowledge has tried the MicroSD update method, and I build the rom with a kitchen I've never used before. I just can't test until I actually get a Treo Pro on Monday.
ok i wait and see what hapens on monday, and if u succeed than u think u can make a GSM version of 6.5 ?

I would need a rom dump from your phone. All of the raw parts using itsutils would be best. That's how I'm going to backup my alltel rom when I get the phone.
I couldn't get my phone to boot from the SD at all, I may need to reformat it to try but even from the stock rom it wouldn't boot. It is possible this is an issue with the SPL-0.37.0000

Make sure it's FAT32, and use a normal sd not sdhc. Then hold the volume up and powerbutton while inserting the battery. Once it's in bootloader mode, hitting the power button again should start the flash processes. See the HTC service Manual for directions.

We flashed cooked roms long before HardSPL. I flashed a custom rom on a HTC Wizard when HardSPL was still in Olipro's dreams....

I'm pretty sure this is how. Without a hard-spl, the only other way is to use itsutils to write the rom back to the device, but that is dangerous.
oh, ok, well if u can point me the right direction i will make a dump of unlocked GSM version of WM6.1... for anyone who may need to recover... hopefully u can make 6.5 for us and it all gona work
but now im going to sleep its almost 3am lol

I'll get some directions put together. It will take some time, because some of the settings are different between devices, and I won't have something to test with until Monday.
Can this work on a Telus CDMA Treo Pro?
Don't even try to flash a rom built for a CDMA Treo Pro on a GSM Treo Pro. The best thing you can obtain is a brick. In order to dump you rom, here you'll find a complete tutorial in the wiki:

NightRaven,
I just tried your Rom but it doesn't work. It seems like you're still missing something. It stuck on the gray screen and says "Loading..." Just to confirm I didn't do anything wrong, I extracted the rom from the sprint 1.04 and it did work. Also seems like your Rom is smaller than the official Rom 73MB vs 140MB. Anyways if you have another one to try out, let me know and I'll try it out. Thanks for the hardwork!

OK. I have built a WM6.5 rom for the Sprint Treo Pro (It's all I had for an OEM dump. Alltel will come monday night when I get my new phone.). I have not tested this, becuase I have not yet received my phone. Are there any BRAVE sprint users out there that want to give it a try. You will be testing two things.
1.) Does the microSD card update described in the Treo Pro Service Manual work with unsigned roms?
2.) Does my 6.5 rom work?
Make sure you have a backup of the current sprint rom! Hopefully if it there is a problem, you can reflash the sprint rom for the 1.04 update. If you don't have it, get it off of Palms support website.
I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS PROCESS OR THE ROM YET!
I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A BRICKED DEVICE!
ATTEMPT WITH CAUTION!
MicroSD Card Update Instructions
Format the micro-SD card as FAT32.
Rename the file from rru_signed.nbh to pantimg.nbh
Copy the pantimg.nbh file onto micro-SD card.
Insert the micro-SD card in the Treo Pro.
Put handset into boot loader mode by pressing power and volume up button.
Press power button to activate the re-flash procedure.

Need help

Hey guys i just unlocked my phone and put mighty rom 4 in it and it eats up all my memory. i need help finding a better rom for my Verizon Touch Pro Non Sim card. and im a noob at this just got the phone today..
Read this sticky on Flashing a CDMA device
Spend some time in the wiki
And whatever rom u choose is a personal preference. Check out NRGZ28's roms, they seem to be the most popular. Be sure to only flash a CDMA rom!
ok my phone is unlocked dio i need to flash it again eventho i have might rom on to put a new rom on or can i just put new rom on it with might rom on it

You would not have been able to flash a cooked ROM unless the phone was unlocked.
Are you saying yuou flashed then unlocked?
Doesn't make any sense.
I understand you're a noob, do I strongly suggest you read BEFORE you flash, then you won't have questions such as these.
If you flashed a ROM that "ate up all your memory" then you did something wrong.
I would suggest flashing back to a stock ROM and go to the CDMA flashing guide for noobs.
You can flash directly to a new ROM if you are unlocked.

No i didnt flash then unlock. I wana know if i can put new firmware on my phone with the mighty rom on it... Like get rid of the mighty rom and put somthing else on it with out going in the flash guide and unlocking my phone again and stuff like that... Also can i put WM6.5 Rom on my phone even tho it has 6.1 on it. and whats the difference between CDMA And the other thing
I have Verizons "Version" of the touch. oh and i forgot when i say it using all my memory mean like after and hour of use it will be at 82% mem usage with all the programs closed
If you are unlocked, you can flash a cooked ROM over the one that you have now, even if its WM6.5.
CDMA means you have no SIM card where GSM has a SIM card, so you need to read specifically for flashing a CDMA ROM to your phone, or you will brick it.
Also, I thnk the 82% is your battery level. Where do you see the 82%
on the top right corner i press it and has the lil mem icon and it says 78% next 2 it. whats a good backup program for my contacts and data

Ok, that is the task manager program usage.
78% seems high with nothing running but you can open task manager and it will tell you which programs are using iup your resources.
If you try to restore PIM backup to Manila it will hose up Manila, so I use Microsoft's MyPhone program to sync my contacts, texts, even music and pics to a server.
Alright man cool. Thanks for your help

Mytouch 3G Official TMO (US) 1.6 Donut file?

I was wondering if anyone came across the the official T-mobile 1.6 Donut OTA file? I am trying to get my phone back to the official ROM because of the bad experiences I was having with Cyanogen latest ROM. I just want something to be stable and not asking me every time to "force quit" an application and just being so damn slow going from one application to another. It would be greatly appreciated if someone can tell me where I can dl that file so i can manually upgrade. I know that they are doing the PTA pushes now but i i dont know if I will get since I am running Cyanogen ROM. Please help!!
Seek and ye shall find...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549754
I looked in and downloaded the file that was for the mt3g but the file itself does not have the "work email" application in the update. and to make things more confusing it says under my phone settings that model number of my phone is a G1. plus the wifi and bluetooth does not work either. is this suppose to be?
I don't think so, but in any case I recommend you ask in enomther's thread.
Just follow the instructions to UN-Root and wait for the OTA.

You probably need to flash the new baseband. Who is your service provider, maybe it's just an APN configuration issue. Settings-->Wireless Networks-->Mobile Network-->APNs and see what is there. Let me know if this helps
Yeah, you need to flash the updated radio rom. Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Thanks for replying back.
I went to ABNs under mobile network settings and nothing came up. Do you have any other suggestions that could maybe help me out?
On the home screen my phone says,"insert sim card". Don't know what the issue could be because my sim card is inserted into my phone. THANKS AGAIN!!
@Omnichron: Im sorry "APN". @hejay: I just updated my radio version to 2.12.50. Phone still isn't working, which radio version is the newest? I'm new to this, so plz bare with me. Thanks for replying back.
