changing tmobile extended rom for vodafone - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Ok, i have spent ages trying to do something that i am sure is possible but i just can't get my head round it.
I have installed the latest t-mobile rom, no problems.
I know how to view the extended rom but i want to change this for the vodafone extended rom,
I know that ican install the voda rom cabs afterwards to remove the tmobile stuff but i want to do it permantly so that everytime i do a hard reset its all done automatically.
Should i be able to download a rom that is already altered like this anywhere?
If this makes any sense to anyone i would appreciate any help because i just don't know where i am going wrong...
Thanks

Why don't you install vodafone version instead ? (the german version)

Hi
check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36220
i did the same but with a Qtek EXT Rom, download the latest Vodafone Update you can find, then just replace the EXT Rom file from the Tmobile or other update and replace it for the one you want, run normal update procedure and voila

Thanks for the replies, compumad, i can't seem to see your file on the ftp site?
I understand what you are saying etc but i'm afraid i don't understand how to do this at all.
What i need is some very friendly and clever person who is not so lazy as me  to make the rom for me (it is christmas after all).
Failing that i might just give in and buy a new phone on contract and stop playing about with them!! lol.
cheers

How to extract my actual ROM and Radio?

I asked this question yesterday in the middle of other ones, and perhaps because of that, I didn't get any answer to it, however, people helped me with the other ones.
What I want to know is how I can extract my actual ROM and Radio in order to came back to it if I have any issues flashing a new ROM. My actual ROM is 1.82.707.0 WWE (11/03/07) and my Radio is 1.27.15.32. The problem is that nowhere is a place where I can download it beacuse it doesn't exist in the page where all the ROM are. So, I think the only way to get it is extracting it from the phone.
So, 2 ways: The first is if someone can help me in the steps I have to follow to extract them from the phone (ROM and Radio) and the other way is if someone can give a link or a place where I can download it. Any of them would permit me to have something that make me sure I can go back to this state. I'm afraid that if I change the ROM and Radio I won't be able to use my phone again with my company, and because I'm in Argentina there in no service for HTC phones here.
Thank you a lot.

Samsung Omnia Rom problem

I'm terribly sorry as I'm very new to this and this is my first time in using a pocket pc phone and I got myself into a bit of a problem. I recently bought myself a samsung omnia (I live in Egypt) and I was curious and interested in installing htc's touchflo rom. It was a custom made one that I found on youtube and sadly being an idiot, I downloaded it.. i thought it was a skin but i didn't know it was a rom.. the link is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9Vu9EtLrOM (sorry if this is considered as an illegal rom, so feel free to remove it I guess)
Now after I installed this, I find that most of my programs have been deleted and the rom does work so the phone hasn't bricked or anything but I want to get back the old stock samsung rom.. I was wondering if this is possible or not. I did manage to stumble on this topic http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-r...re-version-fix/ but after downloading that silly custom rom, I don't want to get into any risks.
When i first got the phone, I remember it was a DXHH1 So I'm wondering if I should download that or download a better one.
I tried searching for any topics around here but I'm not entirely sure as I can't understand most of the jargon used around here.
again I'm sorry for asking this and I really appreciate it!
So you did flash a rom? You went through the boot loader and all?
You can download the touchflo as a program, it doesn't have to be cooked into a rom.
If you did flash a new rom, yes it would delete your programs. it is like reformating and reinstalling windows on your computer, it deletes everything.
Thank you very much for your reply!
Yes I did go through the program and and I thought the touchflo rom was a program but I didn't know.
My question is if its possible to get back the old rom.. the stock rom for the samsung omnia.. you know.. the touchwiz and windows 6.1 and get it back to normal. Problem is I don't know how. I did find the upgrades to the samsung omnia and I was wondering if I could download it or something but I'm unsure if it might brick the phone even further.

Vodafone U.K Original Rom

Hello, does anyone have the original Vodafone U.K ROM For the Magic 32B 192MB Edition? I have had a search for it on here but cant seem to find it.
I have been using the Cyanogenmod roms on it but the past 5 or 6 updates have made the phone hang a lot. Think its becuase of the less Ram in the Voda Editions.
Thank you!!
Do a search for Vodafone by HaGeK, also some guy called ruben posted a "virgin" rom but cant find it at the moment. If I can find it ill post it. Also theres no original ruu available so you will have to nandroid it. Hope this helps.
Also all 32b phones, i.e mytouch and uk vodafone branded magics have the same amount of ram, so if your phone hangs, consider reformatting sdcard ect and reflash, or try a different rom, dwangs it great and super fast, theoffical it super stable on my voda magic. At the mo im on manups eclair 2.1 which is great too
i need this rom too
if someone has it. plz upload to free hosting site plzzzzz.
Vodafone U.K Original 1.5 Rom in nandroid type
do you still want it?
I will upload. Checked and the file is still up by original uploader.

Yes, if you made a nandroid backup, copy that to your pc (just to be safe), and replace the files you download (unzip them first) into the nandroid folder on your sd card. Delete the existing ones.
The boot into recovery and restore the last backup.
Thats it, you are gone to the default rom.
Worked perfect! Thank you!

I could offer you a Vodafone New Zealand ROM if you can't find anything else.
Also, re CM, I've found that the system updated via CM Updater seems to get "tired" and you can fix it right up if you wipe everything, then flash the rooted base, then the latest CM ROM fresh onto a clean phone. Yes, you have to re-download all your apps...but that doesn't take very long and the result is well worth it. Another thing that helps is installing "SetCPU". Clock it up to the 528MHz maximum and the phone runs really well. I had thought CM did it anyway, but discovered with CM 4.2.10.1 that the phone was actually running at 384MHz.......not 528MHz. This makes a difference to speed....at the expense of eating your battery up a little faster. I have access to power for most of the day, so the battery in my case is just while I'm between power points....which is rarely more than 4 hours.....
I backed my original load up and can restore it at any time. Why didn't you make a backup of your original system?
Try a wipe and fresh re-load of CM, along with making sure the phone is at full speed. That hsould perk things up nicely.
cheers for the info man! I ended up flashing the UK Vodafone rom and selling the handset on Ebay! Got £240 for it so just purchased an unlocked Hero instead... Sence UI! Just not too keen on the look of the Hero. Great phone though. The Battery life was bad on my Magic as it was, it lasted about half a day! Its such a shame there was 2 editions of the Magic 32a and 32b, just dont see the point at all. I ended up with the 32b As thats what UK Vodafone where offering but the sence UI doesnt run too well on it at all without having to mess about with partitions and configuring it.
linuxluver can u upload urs for me plzz

Treo version

Hello everybody. I'm completely noob, so please have a little patience with me. I have a Treo 750 in italian, and my final goal is to flash it to wm6-english. But for start, i don't know what Treo i have. I read about Cingular, At&t, etc...
mine sais TREO750-1.16-H3I, h-ware version A, firmware version 1.27.0b.00.
So whom am i talking to every day? Is there a special version of wm6 for my phone?
I thought i'l start from here. Any help would be appreciated...
Ok... noone? At least tell me how I can figure if my phone is unlocked or unbrenched...
Or could someone point me to a tutorial-thread of flashing the phone... from the beginning to the end.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Cheetah_WM6
Maybe you'll find something around here for the beginning, ...
Stupi ... it doesn't matter which Treo you have when it comes to flashing ROMs.
Just do the HardSPL first. That way you can pick the English language ROM of your choice to flash and it will work. You also get the benefit of unlocking the phone so it can be used on any GSM network.
Ideally, you'd be best to pick an English ROM provided by the same company that provides your cellular service, but it is not required. If you pick one from another cell company (or a hacked one) then you might have to enter your network settings manually, but that's the only difficult part.
Plenty of resources in this forum. Do some searching and you'll find everything you need. Good luck!
One question, thought... i could'n find the answer on the forum. I downloaded the unlocher, but it sais it only works with spl 1.11, at least... Mine is 0.22.
I tried then to update with RUU_Hermes_QTEK_WWE_2.11.255.1_102_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe, but in the "current information about your pda phone" it didn' recognize my pda. I got affraid of bricking it.
So, it seems to me my first problem is updating the spl from 0.22 to 1.11. But I cannot find the software to do this..
Come on men, this has to be simple. I need some help here, please. I'm stuck up with wm5 over a week now...
so, the first thimg I must do, a hard-spl, that's what I understood. This can be done with ceetah_unlocker.
Ok, i launch the application, and it sais it can't start only with 1.11 spl. Mine is 0.22.0000
So the first thing i have to do is update this 0.22 spl to 1.11. Am I right?
But how?
Find one of the WM6.0 desktop updaters and try installing that. They don't require a HardSPL first.
Use one of the following:
AT&T English: Treo750_2_25_ATT_EN_DesktopUpdater.zip
Rest of World English: Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater.zip
Three Australia: Treo750_2_19_H3E_DesktopUpdater.zip
Vodaphone UK English: Treo750_2_18_VFU_DesktopUpdater.zip
I don't have any links as they aren't hosted by Palm anymore. You should be able to find them by looking around the XDA Forum, or by searching the net and/or torrent sites for the filenames above.
thanks a lot, man, but I lost my pathience and i run the cheetah_unlocker... and I didn't brick it. So, now I'm ready for the next step...
please, if anyone pm me with a win 6...
ok, my spl is ok (1.4), i put the CHEEIMG.nbh on my sd card, and I run the step 1 of cheetah unlocker. And nothing happens.. still boots with wm5. I even did a hard reset.
Man, i'm goig crazy... what am i missing?
Please, someone could upload again one of those 4 files? I could find neither of them with goolge.
So, i found the updater, but it won't update my phone since it's in italian...
guess I'll need to do it the hard way. Please, can someone point me a post or a tutorial to update from 5.0 to 6?

I must be missing something. I made those steps, all went ok. But how the heck do i change the windows version? That's my goal, not to flash the spl.
I got a win 6 image (i hope, at least), copied the CHEEIMG.nbh file on the card (which is fat 32), and i repeated step one from cheetah-unlocker. As I hoped that after flashing the new windows would automatically install. But nothing happened, the old win was up and running.
Come on man, I'm not such a bad person after all to deserve this... I may have killed a few birds or cats in my childhood, but this is too much... you're killing me.. I'm stuck in this spagetti windows, and I can't upgrade to a normal english windows... what the heck am i missing?
well, if you haven't gotten it sorted by now, hope this helps: once you've hard spl'd, put the new image that you want to flash in the root on your card [<2gb, fat32 formatted] and then hold media and push reset. your phone will cycle into the bootloader [rgb screen], detect the image and ask if you want to flash.

[SOLVED] Going back to Original ROM

Hi guys,
nice work from JockyW, ookba and everyone doing the job to bring us excellent software (pls if i forgot anyone, don't be mad ). I really appreciated the RUU_MAPL_3VOLUTION_WM65_3VO.2.50.112509 for a long time but I will sell my Maple now. It time to move on and try something new. Thats why I need to go back to the Official HTC ROM. I just cannot get it to work...
Obviously just flashing the original HTC Rom won't do the job because of the Hardspl, but how do i get around this. I just need some help on going back.
Thanks in advance, UKFencer
160 hits and nobody got an idea...? Or is the answer too simple?
If i am missing something pls point me to it.
Thanks,
UKFencer
Sorry, I don't think I have any idea. I *think just flashing the original ROM should work, I have upgrade/downgraded other phones with factory/custom roms with no problem. I have a question on top of yours. If I don't Hard SPL, what do I lose? There's a thread about downgrading the HardSpl to 1.19 or 18, I don't know if that helps. I would like an answer to my AT&T question as well. Sorry about hijacking your topic but I at least bumped it.
Download original rom in HTC website. Thats all.
Or you could use goldcard model to flash back to original WWE ROM

where can i get that?
Sorry, for not replying any earlier, but was finishing my finally year project...took longer than i thought...anyway now i back to re-install the original firmware...
@Sonnguyen
doesn't work because of HardSPL...tried it.
@alinkwok
yeah, i've read about it...without a seccond mobile, i'll have to buy the software if i recall correctly.
So, any other tips where to look for howtos...?

Have you ever imagined looking into Wiki
If I were your Maple buyer I would apreciate more to have it upgraded to a cooked ROM, rather to have ugly stock.
You can go back and install any ROM you want

Yes, I agree with your sentiments regarding the ROM, point is however that once the custom ROM is flashed with the Hardspl, the original ROM cannot be flashed back, which is sometimes required, especially if something happens to the phone and it has to be returned for repairs etc to the retailers.
Strange, it´s the 1st time I know that an HTC device can´t go back to original ROM...
I´ll do some research...
The original SPL is included in the package you downloaded from here..... Just have to use it, flash original rom, and you are on your way....
How exactly do I flash the original spl nbh file? I tried replacing the hard spl nbh with the original and running RUU but the spl remained the same.
you need to get the one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558003
there is a folder marked original spl in there. it is the same process you did when you put the hard spl on there, just using the original nbh
