Samsung Omnia Rom problem - General Questions and Answers

I'm terribly sorry as I'm very new to this and this is my first time in using a pocket pc phone and I got myself into a bit of a problem. I recently bought myself a samsung omnia (I live in Egypt) and I was curious and interested in installing htc's touchflo rom. It was a custom made one that I found on youtube and sadly being an idiot, I downloaded it.. i thought it was a skin but i didn't know it was a rom.. the link is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9Vu9EtLrOM (sorry if this is considered as an illegal rom, so feel free to remove it I guess)
Now after I installed this, I find that most of my programs have been deleted and the rom does work so the phone hasn't bricked or anything but I want to get back the old stock samsung rom.. I was wondering if this is possible or not. I did manage to stumble on this topic http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-r...re-version-fix/ but after downloading that silly custom rom, I don't want to get into any risks.
When i first got the phone, I remember it was a DXHH1 So I'm wondering if I should download that or download a better one.
I tried searching for any topics around here but I'm not entirely sure as I can't understand most of the jargon used around here.
again I'm sorry for asking this and I really appreciate it!

So you did flash a rom? You went through the boot loader and all?
You can download the touchflo as a program, it doesn't have to be cooked into a rom.
If you did flash a new rom, yes it would delete your programs. it is like reformating and reinstalling windows on your computer, it deletes everything.

Thank you very much for your reply!
Yes I did go through the program and and I thought the touchflo rom was a program but I didn't know.
My question is if its possible to get back the old rom.. the stock rom for the samsung omnia.. you know.. the touchwiz and windows 6.1 and get it back to normal. Problem is I don't know how. I did find the upgrades to the samsung omnia and I was wondering if I could download it or something but I'm unsure if it might brick the phone even further.

changing tmobile extended rom for vodafone

Ok, i have spent ages trying to do something that i am sure is possible but i just can't get my head round it.
I have installed the latest t-mobile rom, no problems.
I know how to view the extended rom but i want to change this for the vodafone extended rom,
I know that ican install the voda rom cabs afterwards to remove the tmobile stuff but i want to do it permantly so that everytime i do a hard reset its all done automatically.
Should i be able to download a rom that is already altered like this anywhere?
If this makes any sense to anyone i would appreciate any help because i just don't know where i am going wrong...
Thanks
Why don't you install vodafone version instead ? (the german version)
Hi
check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36220
i did the same but with a Qtek EXT Rom, download the latest Vodafone Update you can find, then just replace the EXT Rom file from the Tmobile or other update and replace it for the one you want, run normal update procedure and voila
Thanks for the replies, compumad, i can't seem to see your file on the ftp site?
I understand what you are saying etc but i'm afraid i don't understand how to do this at all.
What i need is some very friendly and clever person who is not so lazy as me  to make the rom for me (it is christmas after all).
Failing that i might just give in and buy a new phone on contract and stop playing about with them!! lol.
cheers

New to windows mobile, would appreciate help.

Hi everyone, I have recently bought a htc touch pro from polish orange provider. I have browsed dozens of topic, trying to make my windows mobile 6.1 life more satisfying, but I have few questions to ask.
1. What does Hard-Spl do ? And can I hard-spl my phone ?
2. To install advanced config, do I have to jailbreak my windows, or do anything to install it ? I don't want to end up with useless phone
3. When I try to upgrade my default opera browser to the newest build, the instlaler cannot uninstall previous version of opera, neither can I because it is not listed in add/remove programs menu. And, if I ignore the warning, I get an error in installling the newest build, but somehow I have 2 opera mobiles listed in programs menu.
Thanks in advance, r4ster.

I probably can't answer your questions like a pro, but I had a few experience that I can share with you.
1. I don't know what Hard-SPL do, but I guess it's like jailbreak for Windows Mobile device. If you want to flash to a new custom Rom, you need to Hard-SPL it first (don't need to do this if you flash back to the original ROM). And yes, Hard-SPL your device
2. Jailbreak is only a term to unlock your iphone... With a Win Device, you don't need to unlock anything to be able to download and install other software. This is the beautiful part of a Window mobile.
3. Definitively can't help you here... but I know that plenty of thread has been posted for this matter... just do a quick search. However, I strongly suggest (with no responsibility) you to "Hard-SPL" and "CID unlock" your device and flash it to a new ROM. It will make your phone faster and much cleaner. Also, you'll get your new Opera install.
The question now is, which ROM
I suggest NATF's v2.3, but he'll be releasing a v3 today or so. Don't flash to it right away... just flash to v2.3 first and see if v3 is stable or not by reading people posts.
Flashing is not as hard as people claim... just read and be very carefully before you do it. Don't skip any step. The first time is stressful, but after that it's just a daily burger.

you have to hard-spl first before Flashing any Rom. Please read those sticky carefully. I do not take any responsibility of what you're doing.
This is what I did (it works for me without any problem)
0- I backup everything I need with PPCPimbackup and outlook
1- I HARD-SPL my device
2- I CID unlock my device
3- Flash to NATF's v2.3 ROM, hard-reset my device
4- Flash new Radio (this step is optional... and to find the best one, you have to test one by one.)
5- Restore my backup
6- Re-install extra software that I need.
Like I mention earlier, these steps work for me, and there are big chance that it will work for you as well... but I do not take any responsibility. Before you Flash to any ROM, HARD-SPL your device. and after flashing your ROM, HARD-RESET it.

And thanks for all the help !

Well, first I hope that it doesn't go wrong. And second, I'm pretty sure you can stand the temptation of flashing to a new ROM, so you'll probably going to do it very soon. But Third, So far I haven't seen any thread that someone can unbrick their Touch Pro after a bad flash (he/she didn't Hard-spl before flashing, that's why)... However, there is a way to do it with the Kaiser... so don't lose hope there.
Just READ everything carefully, you have a 99.5% successful rate if you do. I would say that the 0.5% is just your bad luck (example Computer stop working during the flash... but that's just pure bad luck and you can't blame anyone but God)

I am in the same situation too. I tried that page and it says at the top that the latest version is 23. The big blue DOWNLOAD HERE link just takes me to another forum. I tried looking around there and it seems that Herg is no longer posting on xda-developers because of an offensive post. I could not find ANYTHING that said what the TRUE latest version is, where to get it, and how to install it. I found some junk relating to WM 6.5 but my i760 has 6.1.
Does anyone know what the latest version is, and how to install it to my i760?
EDIT: Sorry for the bump but I am just lost.

[Q] Installing programs on HD2, HOW?

Ok, so i am new at this. i just got my HD2 and i found out that I can install customized roms, and applications. I tried to install skype right now but it would not work. And i dont want to install the customized roms that are out there just yet because I fear im gonna mess up the phone with my noobness Can someone show me a tutorial of how to install programs and maybe even roms?
ps. the HD2 i have is not branded for a certain company.

[Q] Warrany?

Hey, if I upgraded my hd2 to android (flashed the NAND ROM) but now I realized that Android won't even run b/c of a problem I have had from before, and I want to send it back and get a new one...
So, i flashed back to the original WM version I had before, I went to HSPL and flashed to the 2.000 ROM instead of the hspl...
Is my warranty voided now? Will they know I did all this?
and if it is can, what about insurance on the phone they offer to everyone (I actually took it) that should cover the phone even if it is dropped in a lake, right?
You can just revert back to stock some times just by flashing an official ROM or just following a simple unrooting process just search for your particular phone, as long as you make sure you do that, they won't know that you did anything to it.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Thanks, that's great!
Now can any one tell me what all im supposed to do to put the phone back the way it was (the way the warranty people want to see it)?
I found a guide about the Diamond somewhere on this website [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537496], and also looked over some other guids, and I have some quick questions;
'stock ROM' is this the tmobile windows rom I had on before right?
The tutorial says when I flash the stock ROM that I should also have a new stock radio version, this is not the case with me I still have 2.15.50.40, can I download 'stock radio' from somewhere?
Also, what's the stock spl? How do I check that?
Sorry for all the newbie-ism in the questions;
Also sorry that it says warrany instead of warranty, something must be wrong with my keyboard.
Thanks for any answers
If your radio didn't change you can change it by flashing the original one just look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470306
Your stock ROM is wm 6.1, your stock spl is either 1.93 or 2.03 just check out here
