New Android Website - General Topics

Hey guys, I wanted to know if anyone in the NYC region is interested in working on a website/blog with me. Possibly doing reviews for phones, apps, roms, etc. Let me know what you think.

Personally I think it's a waste of your own time. As there are plenty of sites/blogs like this out there and you'll have to come with a good unique idea to make yours stand out.

Samsung Jack (i637) users

For now those are the only places I've found on the internet that really try to do something about our phone. They're in chinese but google translator can get the general meaning. Registration is free and guys over there are really supportive. Go on and have a try. They already have a clean chinese/english 6.5 rom. It's not perfect but it looks like they're going somewhere...

If we gonna get enough people over there asking about clean ROM and other stuff maybe someone will give a damn about us.
Cheers.
I was thinking. A while ago I had very interesting conversatiion with guy called Nokser (he's developer contributing to this forum). What he told me was that he would be able to make a clean ROM out of original AT&T's WM6.5.
Now a "but". There's always a "but" isn't there ?
He said he would but he won't 'cause he lacks time. Everybody has to make a living and he can't afford to waste time for something not profitable especially when he's loaded with work. (Well OK. It's not what he told me literally but everyone can read between the lines, right?).
You have probably seen kitchens he made and you are quite aware he made life of at least few of you easier
OK, let's get to the point. Taking under consideration fact he made sucessfully i.a. i600 ROM probably he would be our (Jack's users) best bet for making i637 clean rom.
Like I said no one likes to work for free. My idea is to make small donations so he can finally help us and develop new rom.
I think it's the best idea and only one available right now.
What do YOU think guys and gals?
I'm pretty sure Nokser would like it. And I'm not trying to advertise or something...God forbid. I'm just trying to make mine and yours life easier and happier.
Have a good one! Cheers!

nice that would be cool for him to do that .but if he those make a rom add htc icons or iphone icons and change taskbar like htc phone.

Devs in Virginia!

So I noticed there are a lot of Android parties going on and I was wondering if there is anyone in the Fredricksburg, VA area that would be interested in a meet or if anyone would be interested in teaching me some stuff about how to cook my own roms. I know this might not be the exact right place to put this, but Im looking for devs mostly.

phonehack

as im sure most people from England know there has been major controversy around the News of the world phone hack, for people who dont http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8142047.stm
Im just wondering, how did they even go about doing this, its not explained about how they actually did of what ive seen on the news. i just want some insight by poeple who would a better idea about this stuff than I.

Coming to Android (Vibrant) from iPhone.

So I've been using iPhone for quite a while and recently got this Vibrant from a family member who didn't need it anymore. I've got to say, I'm really enjoying it.
I always played around theming my iPhone and using the Cydia tweaks and thought I knew what I was doing for the most part. So after getting this phone, I figured I would install some custom roms until I found something I want to stick with.
The thing is, there are tons of them, and since it's a kind of old phone I'd like some advice. Maybe to give me an idea of a few great roms.
I started by reading a lot on the web, and downgrading from Froyo to Eclair. Then I installed the Asgard JVP rom. I like it, but it appears to be abandoned. I live in an area with horrible service so roms with Wifi calling would be nice.
Definitely getting an idea of good current roms would be a nice start!
Thanks in advance, I understand I'm and Android noob, feel free to poke fun at me :-D
Just check the appropriate forum here. There should be one dedicated to your device.

[Q] Running a beta group

Hey guys, this is quite a wide question so I'm looking for a lot of opinions and strategies here.
An app I made is really starting to take off, and a couple of users have started offering to beta test for me. In the past I've just developed by myself and got some input from friends and family, but I'm thinking now that a more formalized beta process will benefit me, if only to get the feel of it for future projects.
So I've come to ask you guys about your experiences with running these kind of things. How useful are they? What tools were you using to organize reports and information? How did you go about selecting participants? How often should I be pushing new beta updates to the users?
Also useful would be opinions from people who were testers in a groupl. What made you want to test for that app? Was there anything the developers did that annoyed you?
Like I said, this is quite a wide topic, and I'm not even really sure what exactly I'm looking for here, so just posting whatever experience you have with these things would help me a lot
