[Q] Any way to give priority to incoming calls while using EDGE? - General Questions and Answers

Since I'm using an AT&T Android phone on T-Mobile, I cannot receive calls while utilizing the EDGE network. Is there any way to force the data connection to quit by giving first priority to an incoming voice call?
Thanks.

Tethering, Voice, and SMS questions

Hello everyone,
Is it possible to get some sort of notification that someone is trying to call while my Fuze is tethered on a non-3G network? For example, if someone tries calling, a program on the phone detects the call and notifies the user. Or, what kind of data can be sent while the phone is tethered on a non-3G network? Just SMS? Finally, I have read that as long as data is not actively being exchanged the phone will work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
" tethered on a non-3G network?"
problem is that ever since gprs was invented it haven't
blocked for callers to be received thats why it was invented
apart from it's speed inc over normal gsm data modem
however if ones operator use old technology in their centrals
one get the problem you experience where data block calls
the issue being isolated to your isp rather then your phone
there really is no way for you to get an notification by the phone
as the phone never get any info from the central
personally gprs data never blocked a call or sms for me

I'm on AT&T so all my answer will be as I know on this network.
1) It will ring, hope that is notification enough.
2)All data, it is just like being online on a dial-up connection but a bit faster.
3) Phone works, HOWEVER, if it is not on 3g any calls will interupt the data flow. Meaning if you recieve a call it will disconnect your data connection. Voice overrides the data.
Ok, thanks for the information! I am on AT&T as well with the Fuze and mostly work on the Edge network. I noticed while doing some trial and error that the phone would ring or receive SMS only when data was not actively being transferred. That is why I was wondering if they made or program, or some notification system that would alert an incoming call or text.

Disable Voice/Video Calls over pro

I use Sipdroid on my phone and it can interrogate into the phone so when you make a call it automatically calls with Voip over 3g (or wifi). I would liek to know weather it is possible to completely disable making voice/Video calls and texts over mobile network. As i would like to start giving android phones to my employees with data sims because data sims have much cheaper data rates but if you make a call/text its really expensive. And i wouldnt want an employee to accidentally exit sipdroid so when they make a call it doesn't use voip. also I still want to be able to receive regular calls.
Thanks.

[Q] Using VOIP with only data plan?

Ok so I have a nexus one and wanted to know how to configure it so that I can have a data only plan through tmobile and still make and receive calls using voip(Google voice, Sipdroid, Skype?) not sure which to use or how to set it up correctly. Also would voip calls still be able to be made over edge?
Thanks.

3g stick

Hello. I wanted to ask if there is any kind of software for a 3g stick that allows to call and receive calls from the PC where the 3g stick is connected. I have a software which receives SMS messages but does not have an option to call and receive calls...

Can't receive calls, have to cycle airplane mode to activate data

Hello, so I recently went from sprint to t-mobile, ported my number, etc. The plan was to flash U onto my g930p but I'm stuck on sprint's qjp3/series 5 firmware until a compatible U or even T firmware is released. I have had a couple of issues with my device that have sort of popped up over the month or so I have been on tmobile, namely that I cannot receive calls, every time someone calls me they are sent straight to voicemail. I do receive notifications for voicemail and the voice messages themselves, but that's it. I can make outgoing calls, however usually the first attempt at an outgoing call fails, then further attempts actually dial. Also, upon restarting the device I always have to cycle airplane mode in order to get the data to catch and start working. SMS and MMS work fine. If anyone has any insight into solutions to these problems, particularly the not receiving incoming calls, I would greatly appreciate it.
