I've roamed the forum and didn't found much about this possibity.
Could a wm6 ppc such as a Kaiser could be used as a bluetooth keyboard and paired with, let's say, a PS3 ?
I know there is a BT gps forwarding app (gps2blue) and so it doesn't seem totally undoable...
any thoughts ?

I wanted to port it to wm6 but I do not have enough knowledge and experience in ppc programming. It uses GTK and Bluez and runs on linux, so I think porting it would mean rewriting mostly everything (the bluetooth part as well as the window system part).
But who knows, there are such great developers on xda-dev. Maybe someone has enough time to do this ? If so, I'm really interested.
you could use an application like TabletRemoteControlSuite of SallingClicker. they don't implement Bluetooth HID protocol, but they can be used to remotely control keyboard and mouse over bluetooth / wifi...
Thanks for the link. Sallingclicker is a nice concept but requires a host client, which is a no-no for using in non mac/pc environment.
xkbd-bthid is actually closer to what i'm looking for, sadly not running on wm6...
true, all tools I know require a 'server' application running on you computer...which can be annoying
mabye you can make over your request to Teksoft. They already made the BlueMouse application which enables your PDA to function as a real bluetooth mouse...so I guess they have enough knowledge to create a similar application for a virtual bluetooth keyboad HID, but then it will probably also be shareware instead of opensource...

Hu...no, from what i gathered from the teksoft site, what i'm looking for is the exact opposite: pairing my kaiser AS a standard bt keyboard, not pairing it WITH one.

You can try GRemote, you can connect it through ActiveSync/BT/WiFi, it can use any SIP as keyboard or the hardware keyboard (it has an option for the side of opening the hardware keyboard, for Touch Pro and TyTN II (they open in different directions)), it can be used to control WMP, and not shure about WinAmp, it can be used as TouchPad and as a GameePad. It can be used as Logitech MX Air, but your phone needs a G-Sensor.

Salling clicker is a really good solution for that.
i'm using it to control the mouse/media player/winamp/screen....
there are many scripts out there for this app which let you control a lot of aspects of your comp.
Gremote did not work with my device or computer. too hard to set up. spent an hour and a half before I realized that it is in the diamond section, and probably will not work for me anyway. The rest of the stuff I found is for java.

GRemote should work on other devices, altough without acceloremeter some parts will not work completely, but I expect the keyboard and mouse to be working. I'll try myself on my wizard this week.
Did you try Salling Clicker? Very nice tool with very good integration for windows mobile and itunes remote control. and you extend with many script from their forum.
PPC - Keyboard
I need to be able to either plug my Touch Pro into the computer via USB cable which i use to sync or connect it via bluetooth by plugging in some sort of USB dongle.
Either way, I will need to be able to not have to install activesync or any other drivers. I need a plug-n-play solution.
I will be working on multiple computers which have just been re-imaged at work. I do not want to swap keyboards & mouse back and forth between them constantly; however, swapping the dongle or USB cord to my phone wouldn't be as bad. I cannot install software on these PC's to support this.
I would like to plug it in and it recognizes it as a keyboard/mouse just like it would with a real keyboard or mouse.
How would I go about doing this?? Does the Salling Clicker software support this??

no it doesn"t... so far I couldn't find any application wich will work without installing some kind of 'server' on your pc, you always need a PDA and PC application. The apps which are working like this are: SallingClicker (many nice extra features for music and presentations), GRemote (freeware) and PPC Table (nice interface).
My small sony ericsson very simple mobile phone supports a bt mouse and bt keyboard interface. I don't need anything to be installed on pc (except bluetooth stack) and it will recognize my phone as if it is a standard bluetooth mouse or keyboard. Such an application would be very nice for Windows Mobile...

I'm using currently the roadcomm stack provided by Helmi (UNIBT.cab) . It works well for me! I'm not at home this time, so I can't check the version of the build, but I'm sure that Helmi's is older! It would be cool if you could include the new stack in your ROM, or provide us just a cab file to install

In my mind the widcomm/broadcomm stacks were the best! I have only one problem with them now. When I'm using the headset profile with Helmi's stack I can't receive or make calls using the BT headset, in fact I can't hear any audio at all. The other issue is that I believe that the headset button cannot be used to initiate microsoft voice command. If these issues can be resolved then I think there will be a mass following on this project!

I've started working on the latest Widcomm build. Basic part is working now.
Let's see ...
helmi's stack was ok, expect handsfree profile, if you will port newest version, and all necessary profiles (handsfree, a2dp, and others) will be working it would be great suprise for uni users
Do you make the Handfree profile working?
Few months ago, I've tried the 1.8.7 Build 300 combined with Helmi's old one, all ok but HF.

go ranju, go! seems like u r our only hope. other uni developers not so productive anymore now.
Last time I tried to install the Widcomm BT stack, it froze the phone after every bit of fiddling (i.e. after listening 1 minute of A2DP music, or after browsing the phone with FTP for 1 minute, etc)
Now that basic and some advanced profiles are also available for the MSBT stack, I don't miss the widcomm anymore.
Moreover, it's a pain in the ass to program! (i'm making a bluetooth-multiplayer game)

Where is it?
Whats the advantage that the broadcomm stack has over the MS stack? My BT is currently working perfectly (useing Ranju 7.4), A2DP works like a charm, calling thru the headset works fine. So why would we want to use another stack? (no rant, I'm really interested and want to know ;-)

It handles better with COM ports, and you can use even another phone as a BT modem for example. And the UI is much better
Hmmm... I would appriciate it. I'm struggeling with Helmi's Broadcomm BT stack, it complains about there not being enough memory. Though I do have more than 20Mb free.
And also, MS doesn't quiet work with stereo hands free either, it just stops after 5 secs. And I have tried a bunch of registry-tweaks.
So -I- for one, would appriciate work on a bluetooth stack that actually works, very much.

OK, maybe 4 you but for me the MS stack was ****ting with my GPS, i needed an hour to connect to my regular GPS! With Widcom it was just a click... And, for example with Ranju-s ROM you can't use another BT phone as a modem! Only with widcomm! (i know there are ROMs with MS BT wich CAN use other phone's internet conn. via BT...)
Is anybody testing this stack? Could we get a DL link to it? Thanx!

Has anyone tried the Stowaway/Thinkoutside Bluetooth keyboard with the Touch pro yet?
I had one for my 6700, but it got stolen out of my car 2 weeks ago so I never had a chance to test it with my new touch pro. I'm debating whether to purchase a replacement.
The reason I'm concerned about using the bluetooth keyboard - is that HTC messed with the key assignment such that it's impossible to reassign keys in other programs without running "Kfortouchpro" in the background. If the bluetooth keyboard uses the standard definitions, then it wouldn't work.
I'd appreciate any feedback.
And typing should be better. I am missing my keybord for my palm TX too.

The ACK-3400 U should be developed for PDAs. But it is missing some manuals and parameters. Thats why getting your PDAs working via BT should be "luck".
I think this keyboard is a good salution becaus there is no mechanic for falting. I am working much with my old keyboard and I had to replace it after 2 years...

I can confirm that it worked great. It folded up into the size of a deck of cards and was just as fast as a regular keyboard.
They're very popular - so I'm surprised no one's answered my question directly yet.
I'm hoping this keyboard (or one of the many like it) is compatible with the Touch Pro so I can buy a replacement. Damn thieves. :-(
My igo stowaway BT KB works on my fuze, although when I shutdown the program, it gives me a "we're sorry ... a problem..." and wants to send a report. I just don't send. It seems everything works, just that flaky thing. I use the PPC5 eng. driver online.

I picked up an AT&T Fuze on Friday; it paired up just fine with my Freedom Universal Keyboard. It uses the HID profile, so no drivers required.
Then that freedom KB board may be a better bet, because of the HID.
Quick vid to show off HID profile support in 2.2 firmware builds, really enjoying it with TV Out, like having another laptop in the house (one with a 42inch screen mind). Need to sort out some remote desktop action, should be sweet with this setup!

EDIT: Although I believe any HID-based keyboard/mouse should work, here is an ongoing list of those confirmed by users to work -

OMG so HID works on 2.2? Does that mean apple keyboards and crap will work (cause they seem to be easily available, not that i like them "that" much)
I really want a close to fullsize BT keyboard (or something which is very easy to type with (i wanna use it for uni), any recommendations?
Before I updated to 2.2 I confirmed that with another user who was using an Apple keyboard, so I'm assuming its all good. By its nature HID-supporting keyboards should all work with 2.2 builds.

I've not tried WiiMotes yet, but another user says they still don't work (I'm inclined to believe him, since the WiiMote Android software only works with a particular BT implementation - not Samsungs).
Name of keyboard?
Its an iGo Ultraslim Stowaway keyboard (Dell branded in this case because it was half the price of the iGo one, despite being made by them...not sure how that works, but was happy at the time). For my money its still the best ultraportable folding keyboard (its hinge mechanism is sheer genius), but sadly its been out of production a couple of years now. If you can get your hands on one somehow it really is great.

I impulse bought the microsoft bluetooth mobile keyboard 6000 (only cause managed to haggle it down by 20 bucks ).
It doesn't work on JM7 (as expected. It pairs but doesn't connect), but I will try on froyo soon. I want to wait for official froyo or at least the next stable release before updating though.
I really hope this keyboard is compatible cause i just spent 80AUD on it lol.

I was using the Apple key-board on the G1...
I know, I know...I hate Apple too, but on my G1 I was connecting the the Apple bluetooth keyboard. Nice piece of equipment - metal.
Although it was not an automatic connection, I had to manually start the drivers every time I want to use it. A bit of a pain, but it was working fine....and that on the G1!
I'll try it sometime in the next few days and report back on how I did it and if it even works with the Vibrant.

i have a very old version of Freedom Universal bluetooth keyboard.

mi have follow the android installation guide concerning the universal keyboard pro, i have make a paring of keyboard, i have download and install the drivers, but a message tell me that this driver are only for a universal keyboard pro and not for my model.
some time ago, with my iphone, the problem was that my keyboard had not a spp mode, and for me was impossible connect it.
now, my impression is that the problem is more simple because i can make a pair, i can install the drivers and these work fine! but..i see this message and the keyboard don't work...
i know that this is a very old keyboard..but before change it, i want to be sure that i can't use them with my device android.
and second question..if i must change it..some suggestion for the model? i don't like yet universal keyboard, becasue i think that is impossible that this product is not supported in after market.
sam213 Don't change the keyboard. It WILL work with froyo. I have had the freedom universal keyboard for a few years now and it works great with any device that supports HID. (Nokia n95, n900, my laptop, lego NXT). The drivers that freedom input make are for devices which don't natively support HID

The wireless (bluetooth) apple keyboard works great with the Samsung Galaxy S international (Froyo JPK). Absolutely no hassle. Turn on bluetooth, press a key on the keyboard and *bam* connected..
Can anyone help me on bluetooth keyboard configuration for HD DESIRE?
Even with the software it just JP Blue Keyboard connects but does not type.

What rom are you using? Afaik sense breaks hid support. Try an aosp rom if your using a sense rom.

It won't work full stop with an original sense rom. It just doesn't support bluetooth HID but an aosp based rom does.

Just tried BlueInput 1.8 but still no joy with my Think Outside/iGo BT keyboard. I've been trying this since Christmas.
The fundamental problem is with HTC having installed an incomplete Bluetooth stack (see BlueInput for Android manual on Teksoft website - sorry not allowed to post hyperlink). To be fair Teksoft seem to be aware of the problem and seem to be trying to fix it. The HTC Desire is such a popular phone it should be able to connect with a BT keyboard without flashing the ROM. Let's hope BlueInput 1.9 due this month will work!

As I tried to explain in my post on 18th Feb, the problem is with the HTC version of Android OS which doesn't support the HID profile used by a lot of Bluetooth keyboards. I've been trying to find a solution since I got my HTC Desire. The only possibility (without flashing ROMs) at present AFAIK is to get a BT keyboard which uses the SPP profile which the HTC Sense ROM does support. The Freedom Pro keyboard is switchable between HID and SPP and has Android drivers available. The technical support at Freedom Pro say that they believe their keyboards do work with the HTC Desire. I'm reluctant to buy a new keyboard so I'm still hoping that BlueInput can sort out a solution for HID keyboards. I don't think HTC are going to do anything about their firmware but maybe an upgrade of their version of Android will fix this?

The definition of madness is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Why don't you absorb the comments of the more knowledgable people who have provided reasons why this is not working and also a solution to get this working.
It is not difficult to change the ROM on your Desire given recent tools available. Although this will mean searching or looking at the sticky threads.
Not only that but you will find greater functionality from your Desire even if you didn't want this, it may prove useful in the future.
