Hi, recently I accidentally updated OTA for my DZ.
Back then I only rooted using VISIONAry perm root, (so no S-OFF), and I heard the guys said you can root you phone at 1.82 if you have S-OFF.
Can I use this guide 1.72 to 1.35 downgrading and apply it on 1.82 to 1.35 downgrading? Is it like the same thing?
Same here! Nobody knows?

Hii,
I had 1.82 unrooted desire Z
i used the goldcard way.
this link brings you to the topic.
Once you reach the third part.
you have to do following first
Start command promt.
Browse the command to you ADB folder
enter: ADB Shell Chmod 777 /data
Now you are able to pull the misc file from you phone.
This is normally only available at rooted.
Kind regards
You're probably thinking why this idiot has posted a short rooting guide with no pics for the HTC "G2"/32B/Sapphire. I know there are others out there, but they are too long and take too much time compared to this method.
Well, with this method, you DO NOT need to DOWNGRADE to 1.5/1.6 from the OTA Froyo and is COMPLETELY friendly with non-data users, like me. This method WILL give you su and superuser access on the OTA Froyo update.
Instructions:0) (As a pre-requisite, backup your sdcard on your computer, just in case, because the apk is known to erase/format the sdcard in the phone; It never happened to me, but it is better to play it safe)
1) Download gingerbreak from this thread (Yes, I know it says gingerbreak but it works on froyo also)
2) Install the .apk, run the apk
3) Phone will reboot, if successful
4) You are rooted! Superuser will be installed.
5) Continue below if you desire to continue to flash a custom rom

It is tested working by me on a T-Mobile Magic 32B that was unrooted with Perfected (S-ON) SPL and 2.22.28.25 radio. I used Gingerbreak 1.20.

EDIT: Please test and confirm it is working. If this method works, goldcards will not be needed to root devices with S-ON
Now you have root, now what?
Download the 'busybox installer' by Stericson.

After installing busybox and rebooting, you need to flash recovery.
Instructions1) Download this binary (flash_image) as the OTA Froyo does not have it.
2) Download the recovery image from this thread: AMON_RA Recovery
3) Unzip, and copy the binary to sdcard and rename the recovery image you just downloaded to 'recovery.img' for simplicity
4) Now, I hope you have Android SDK installed as the next steps would be much easier with it (You can do it via terminal app on phone also)
Code:
adb shell
su *NOTE(You may need to press "allow" if the superuser prompt pops up)
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cp /sdcard/flash_image /system/bin *NOTE (You cannot 'adb remount' or push any files to system/bin, that is why cp is used)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
5) Recovery should now be installed, and you can update your spl so you can install other roms, radios, hboot, etc...

Can this method be used to achieve S-OFF on a 32A Device, running Rogers 2.1 Sense rom with new 1.76.2007 ENG SPL and new radio?

I think you can try this method, but make sure you flash a matching recovery. Maybe RA-1.7.0.1 or Bladyle's RA-2.2.0. After that you can flash S-OFF in recovery. What's your current SPL and Radio?

This guide seems to be aimed at 32b devices running stock froyo
And (on 32b at least), eng spl=s-off...

The thing is that the phone currently has RA 1.7.0 recovery installed and the latest radio + 1.76.2007 ENG SPL, but I have the S-ON and I want it OFF since I want to downgrade to the old radio and SPL.

I asked this because the 1.76.0007 ENG SPL should have S-OFF. Try this command in fastboot mode: fastboot oem eraseconfig. After this check if the security of your SPL changed back to S-OFF.
It is only tested working on a 32B device with 1.33.0013 S-ON perfected spl (that came with the Froyo OTA update, if I'm not wrong).

Thanks. That did it.
Why does the title say 1.33.2013?
The only 2013 spl i know of is a edited 2005 spl that was used to trick updates... and its s-off
There, fixed it. I mean the *Perfected SPL* that comes with the Froyo OTA 32B Update. Sorry for confusion.
Mytouch 3g 1.2, used gingerbreak to root, phone rebooted verifyed root access, RESULT= PASS . It did not install superuser.apk rebooted phone after gingerbreak result= FAIL.
Any1 know why its not allowing me to install busybody?
That's the messaged I received

Is there a certain version of android I must have in order to root? Should I flash downgraded rom in order to root? I currently have 2.2.1 should I downgrade to make root easier?

You don't NEED to downgrade, but I find rooting 1.6 is the easiest way.
If this guide didn't work you might want to do the rooting manually. Go to c-skills.blogspot.com (hopefully thats right. Going by memory) and download the gingerbreak or killinginthenameof binary (gingerbreak is made with gingerbread as its main target, killinginthenameof was gonna be gingebreak but Google made some changes that prevented it from working. They both should work but if one doesn't, try the other) and run that in a terminal or adb. then push superuser.apk and su to their proper places (/system/app and /system/xbin I think). I can be more detailed if needed.

Okay.
Install rom manager from the market ad try to flash clockworkmod recovery. If it works, you had root and can now flash roms. If it doesn't.. post that and ill give better rooting instructions
So I rooted with super one click method and have a working super user (I think) it let's me use titanium and set cpu...so can I just skip the first post and start at the second post right?..and if so I was wondering if anybody knows if I can just start flashing away after the second post instructions or do I HAVE to flash a new spl..currently ship s-on .33.0013 I have the ota update radio as well...I'm not a noob to android as I have a cm7 nightly powered s-off tmobile g2,but a noob to my wifes mytouch, when I rooted the g2 (the way I did), is I rooted it then entered commands into terminal to get s-off, flashed cwm, and then it was game on...so is flashing a new spl the same as getting s-off in a way?? And if I have to, can somebody give me a link to a recomended spl?? Any info is appreciated..ty.

I have a Sensation S-OFF via revolutionary plus supercid and since some time i used with stock rom, the last one used was Pyramid_htc_europe_1.50 "http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0a7842/n/RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_R_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_228602_signed.exe". Bored with this rom tried to install an LE version the last Pyramid_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.25 from "http://www.filefactory.com/file/c21da0d/n/RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.25.401.101_Radio_11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2_test_237696.exe". Via normal RUU the installatin wasn't possible (error 155), so extracted rom.zip renamed to PG58IMG.zip and installed succesfully.

I downloaded from market SUPERUSER aplication, installed. so i have superuser v3.0.7 (41) and su binary vnull. checked for updates and the result was, checking installed version = legacy??? i pushed the update button and su binary 3.0.3.2 was installed sucesfully???
What I'm Missing? Is this methode possible?
Tried to install some aplications who require root in order to function properly as Titanium back up, all OK, i sucessfully restored some previously backed-up data. Installed 4ext recovery from market and changed to the lat touch 4ext recovery, all ok, restarted and nothing changed.
i have root, i have a cusom recovery and all applications are functioning ok.
So, What I'm Missing??? Is this methode possible?
Don't worry, your still s off so you are good. May I ask why you are flashing official RUU from different regions? Why not just flash some custom ROMS they have more mods and they are easier to switch back and forth. Be careful now that 1.27 h boot cannot run GB ROM, you will bootloop if you try, you'll have to downgrade to the 1.23 h boot as it can run both GB and ICS. Also, I don't understand what it is you are asking.
In order to flash GB Roms like Rhiannon224 said you'll have to downgrade H-Boot 1.23.
For a lot of Information i would suggest you This Thread
And Touchcovery (4ext recovery Touch) try 4Ext Updater
hello,
i searched for half a day now and havent found any answers to my problem. i guess this may have been posted somewhere else before, so pls excuse me for asking.
i have an unbranded sensation xe from uk and i got the ota ics update 2 days ago.
i rooted it before the update with revolutionary. for the update is searched a little bit cause it did no work the first time, because of the custom recovery(i think- pls excuse me if thats not all correct, but i am a bit of a noob in theses things) so i reverted to stock bootloader and recovery and did the update.
i saw that not all was running good as it should-maybe because i did the update over my existing GB stock rom without any wiping.
so i thought i could install a custom ics rom intead of the stock(what i could have done month before, without waiting)
as i realized that root apps did not find any root permissions i thought there could be something wrong.
after my reserch today i found that i have
locked stock hboot 1.27.0000
s-off
stock recovery.
i am not able to flash any custom recoveries and gain root access in any apps.
i tried to root it again and get all the stuff needed to install a custom rom, but unfortunately revolutionary does not work with hboot 1.27.0000. and all my attempts to get a custom recovery (adb, flashable zip, rom manager) failed.
adb says access denied
hboot flash says: wheater nothing (does not flash the .zip at all or does nothing after flashing) or wrond device id. i checked my cid (its HTC_001), which is in the text file.
rom manager has no root rights.
whats going on? please help me. i cant find anything more to get that working.
Sounds like you are flashing a PG58IMG recovery. What exactly does it say when it fails? You'll need the recovery to flash superuser in order to give root permissions to apps...
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
thx for the very quick reply
thats exactly what i tried to do in boot screen.
with the adb commant it was just the image but that did not work in any way.
with the PG58IMG.zip file it says nothing without showing any boot with power button after flashing or it says failed because of different device id
exactly it says:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press Power to reboot.
i still have SU installed from before the update and it gives SU permissions to Titanium Backup for the automated backup. but when i open the app it denies the SU rights.
i thougt the S-Off means that i am rooted? is that right?
S-off doesn't mean you are rooted.
Open the PG58IMG file. inside you will find android-info. Edit this file with your MID (model id) then it should work.
If you don't know your mid, dowload terminal emulator from market and give this command: getprop ro.mid
Once you have custom recovery, you can download and install the su binary from here
Install also superuser and busybox from market.
Hope it helped.

S-off, Unlocked, Stock recovery. Just did the OTA. When it was finished went into SuperSU and am being told that there is no binary installed. Weak Sauce says I'm already rooted but I'm not. Even after OTA I'm still S-off and unlocked. Is this just a matter of flashing a different version of SuperSU over the current one I have installed? Current version of SuperSU I have is 1.94
Just reflash. And if you're s-off'd with SuperSU flashed, you don't need weaksauce anymore.
