I had the same experience my phone fell from hands from 3ft height on the ground and it developed crack not as many as yours, one single crack across the face. I just wanna know has your digitizer arrived .and when your screen cracked was it working normally ,because mine is working all right just the crack is there.

U have to pay ~50 .. ~60$

LCD and Digitizer Assembly Combo for Samsung i9000 Galaxy S
if you keep this thread you will get bester experience

I just noticed that cnn.cn now has the SGS digitizer on sale.

repairs
I will fix any broken galaxy s screen for £120 or buy the broken phone off you for £150.
The Part is preety much the whole phone you only save the mainboard and backcase.
the vib motor speaker all that sort of stuff is part of the screen.
So if you are buying just the glass or screen of ebay they are fake parts are void the warranty, also the quality will be very different.

My screen is broken to, but the LCD is not. The phone works in 100%, even touch, but the glass is broken. I am not sure, is the digitizer everything that I need or do I have to buy LCD+digitizer to repair it.

They come as 1 part, so you'll need to replace both.

I have replaced several screens on Touch Diamonds, however the LCD matrix appears to actually be stuck onto the digitiser and the LCD itself is very very fragile. I usually replace the whole unit (LCD screen and digitiser) because it is much easier. You can purchase these from various sellers in Hong Kong on Ebay.
I have allready bought a touch screen but not the lcd screen!!! Do u have a guide or something that shows how to change it???

My recommendation would be to re-sell the touch screen and buy yourself a complete LCD & digitiser module. It is much much easier to do. In terms of taking the phone apart, it is fairly straight forward. Be careful with the small co-axial cables inside though, because they are easily damaged and difficult to obtain without replacing the antenna board. Re-connecting the ribbon cables can also be a bit fiddly.
The LCD and digitiser are glued into the front of the phone. You will need to disassemble the phone and then very carefully using a plastic flat blade, ease the LCD out of the front of the phone housing. It will come out with a little bit of care. There should be enough glue remaining in the housing to re-seat the replacement unit and hold it in place.
If you google you should be able to find the HTC Diamond service manual which tells you how to take the phone apart and re-assemble it. I have a copy, so if you can't track it down, PM and I will e-mail it to you.

Hi,
To barncourt, how is the build quality of those honk kong made screens?
also a lot of the screen+digitizer that i have seen on ebay all have the front facing camera. would it be possible to use that screen even though my diamond is the one that has no front facing camera?
Of course, it is just a hole

Hi I wanna know can you share your supplier adress with us ?
I'm looking for a LCD+digitizer and what I see is not something giving confidence...
So if you can give us some real-tested place to start...
Also I've dismantle the phone but it's quite hard to take the screen+digitizer away...
it's seems completely fixed with the housing does some one got s pics or guide on how to dismantle and replace the screen
(The HTC service guide you can see here and there just don't deal with the screen.)
and when I started just broke my screen (which was already broken anyway so...)
http://www.fuelip.com/howto/diamondlcd/diamondlcd.htm
I followed that guide and replaced my screen. I have one last problem though - I can't fit back my power button. It's made of two parts the black plastic cover and the transparent rubber. How do you stick them together? I'ts funny that I took my whole diamond apart with all the cables and boards and now I can not figure out how to fix a silly button

thinking about changing the housing

i recently dropped the phone and am thinking whether it is worth it or not to buy new housing. i have a touch diamond nam 3g with rubber back and no front facing camera. can anyone give me links to where i can find housing for my model. i saw a lot on ebay but those look like housings for the euro and asian model with glossy back and front facing camera. also if i want to switch off the front screen because of scratches, should i buy a whole new lcd or should i just buy a digitizer cuz i heard that it is hard to change just the digitizer.
anybody know anything about this?
If you need original housing it will cost you.
I bought from this company recently (EU)
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-touch-pro-13838p.html - £15.75
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-touch-diamond-11870p.html - £35.29
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-touch-diamond-13679p.html - £19.41
Total £70.45 + shipping
Note: The shipping is low from this company.
But your Diamond will be like brand new.
do they ship to the US though? also i don't see the actual front housing in there. i see that you bought a digitizer too. how hard is it to replace the digitizer?
From what I have seen, the phone has to be completely disassembled to change the digitizer, doesn't look like an easy task.
yeah but what i mean is, is it easy to detach the digitizer from the lcd screen?

i have asian non 3g htc touch diamond white without front facing camera. i just bought it two days back and from what i have seen nd heard, it's very difficult to replace digitizer or screen alone, if u cud get 'em get a screen wid a digitizer nd if u wanna save some money purrchase the housing with digitizer alone. but be very careful while removing the digitizr from lcd. they are sort of glued together but when u remove it, u shud have enough gule left to paste it into new digitizer.
nd sellers from hong kong are quite friendly. just ask a question to them on ebay about ur requirement and m quite sure they can make available to you whateva u want.
PS: i got it about two weeks back nd not two days.
where did you find a digitizer that doesn't have the front camera hole though

I sat on my Fuze :(

Hi all,
I sat on my Fuze, short and simple. There is now a weird crack on the screen. I am very familiar with what a broken LCD looks like, there is no LCD "liquid" oozing all over the place, and the picture is not distorted in any way. It looks like some kind of lens INSIDE might be broken, and I think it's the digitizer. The cracks stop once they get to the dark grey at&t/HTC border around the screen, even though I hit very close to it, so whatever I cracked is under the top lens/protector.
Also, I read online (albeit at a cell phone repair website) that you can't replace the digitizer without ruining the LCD. Is there any merit to this, or are they just trying to convince people to pay their obscene $149 to replace a $30 part?
So I guess I have two questions:
Did I break the digitizer, the topmost lens, or somehow the LCD glass without damaging the LCD itself?
How hard is this to replace?
Pics:
EDIT: I ordered this on April 17th. Fat chance AT&T will do anything about it, right?
That looks like just the digitizer... I purchased the digitizer already, but haven't gotten the chance to take it apart yet.... to be honest I'm very nervous about taking it apart.. I'm still trying to figure out how to split the two pieces apart (the keyboardbase and the slide screen....

If I'm not mistaken (and I might be), all this should take is removing the two small phillips head screws on the back of the screen that show when the phone is slid open. I landed on this thing while it was open, and drove my knee right into the screen, I'm surprised I didn't break anything else.
There are three more screws that you can't see behind the screen.... when its slid open you can only see 2 screws... There are actually 5

So we do have to take the whole damn thing apart?
Does anyone have any luck with AT&T replacing things that are clearly accidental damage? With all the horror stories I hear about refurbished phones and the chance that they might send me one, I'd actually rather take my chances at fixing this. I've taken apart a ton of phones and fixed them before, and worked at a cell phone repair shop for a few months. I still have most of my tools lying around, including all the screw drivers I'd need to open this.
I was able to find an HTC service manual that doesn't really explain how to replace the digitizer. It does describe how to get it in two pieces, but I wouldn't know where to go from there.
I have the digitizer in my hand... There is a thing that hooks up to the phone itself so yes i'm pretty sure you have to take apart the entire thing.... I think i'm gonna take the phone to NYC and have someone that knows what they're doing repair it. I tried to get warrenty repair, but they said no because it is accidental damage. i pretty much tried everything before I ordered a new screen.

Found a good complete disassembly guide in Russian, why does the screen have to be the LAST thing to come out? I am now looking to buy an LCD/digitizer combo, but I can only find the one from Brando that is made for regular HTC Touch Pros, and not the Fuze (has a camera cutout instead of the AT&T logo).
If I end up having to replace the LCD I'd much rather break it trying to save $50 than just toss it. Is it really that hard to separate the digitizer from the LCD?

has anyone had success separating the Digitizer and the LCD screen?

Well, we'll find out. I ordered both an AT&T Fuze digitizer by itself as well as an LCD with a digitizer attached. I'm just going to go ahead and replace everything with the combination unit and see if I can replace my broken digitizer without breaking my LCD in my free time. If it works, I have a spare or I can sell it
be careful I got my digitizer and they sent me the wrong one. They sent me one for a sprint touch pro....

Hopefully I'll get it right, I made sure to order an AT&T Fuze digitizer that made it clear it wasn't for use with Sprint Touch Pros or Touch Pros with front facing camera.
The LCD+digitizer I ordered though may very well show up as any of the above, if they're not already attached I'm going to use the AT&T Fuze digitizer on the new LCD, and try and make a new working combo from my old LCD to resell. I'll make a detailed step by step with photos as well.
Don't forget to read this
They just sent out my new one today.... So anyone that needs a digitizer for the Fuze by Sprint hit me up.... They told me to keep it so now I have an extra digitizer that doesn't work for my phone...
I think I can help you cos I repaired LCD and digitizer on Raphael a week ago. Digitizer and LCD are two separate parts joined by flat printed wires. If you need to change just one of them you will need to take apart whole phone.
Raphael consists from 2 main parts - 1. that one with keyboard 2nd part with LCD. You have to take apart both what is quite hard to realize if you this for the first time.
Once you are with your LCD you will see the flat wires grom lcd and digitizer meerged. Split them with your solddering gun carefully! Take new digitizer and solder flat wires together. Anyway there is no glue or liquid fluit or whatever between digitizer and LCD. But - remeber especially those who replacing just LCD - there is kind of black tape around the backside of LCD part (the silver side) - take it apart from old lcd and move to new one. If you dont you will see the rainbow on your LCD but just after assembling whole device together - it is quite concerning if you find out this kinf of malfunction just after such a hard work like a assembling this hellmade device
Good luck to everyone!

Thank you for some rather broken, but very helpful advice. Kinda sucks that I'm really happy since I don't have to worry about removing any adhesive, but now I have to sit here and solder flex cables. I shoulda bought a spare one
Do they ship these parts on pigeons from Hong Kong?
To anyone counting on being able to separate the LCD from the digitizer, DON'T. There is absolutely no way to separate them without destroying either or both. Also, take extreme caution when peeling up the flex cable, it is very easy to tear (I tore mine).
So my net cost, 80 + 50, LCD/Digitizer and Flex Cable = $130 vs. sending it to HTC $150. I advise anyone to just pay them rather than take this thing apart.
from my understanding people have done it before... Maybe you just had bad luck? Well we'll see when my screen comes in *crossing fingers*

Fact of the matter is when people say this is a delicate phone to take apart, they mean it. I worked at a cell phone repair store for a few weeks, and learned how to take apart damn near anything (thank God this was before the iPhone existed). Not only are both flex cables in this phone taped down in 100 different places, making them very easy to tear while removing the tape, the adhesive used between the LCD and digitizer is STRONG. If you really wanted to separate them, you might have some luck with a straight edge and maybe an hour. Good luck, I'll let you all know how this turns out once I have my new flex cable, since I conveniently tore the volume buttons off the original.
I just got my screen today so we're gonna see some time next week how we do on this screen replacement....I'll let you know how it goes....
So far no luck with my digitizer. Has anyone had any luck just changing out the digitizer yet? The guy that was suppose to do mine is backing out because he doesn't want to risk cracking my LCD. I don't blame him thats the reason I didn't do it. sheik124 what are you doing with your damaged fuze? Are you sending it to HTC for repairs?

LCD Screen & Digitizer assembly

Good evening guys, I wanted to ask, any one knows the average price for an Original LCD screen and its Digitizer together?
Im seeing prices from 45~120$ but i wanted to ask if anyone have ever got any before, plz would help me to find the best for my friend Sensation thx.
I called HTC they said 180 and I think its worth it through them rather than a phone repair shop. Which I wish i did....
So I broke my screen. I looked up some digitizers but I dont know what I should get. Could someone please suggest one to buy? I have a T-Mobile USA sensation. Does it really matter which part I buy or will any digitizer work?
I'd recommend you just send it to HTC. I had my digitizer replaced by a computer repair shop that said they could replace my digitizer and I had it done for 70 bucks. After they replaced it my digitizer would barely respond to the point that I couldn't even use it. They replaced it because they had a 30 day warranty but even that replacement was just as bad. I had the digitizer replaced one more time and it was better but still not the same. I just couldn't use it without getting frustrated. I ended up just exchanging my phone through my carrier but I wish I avoided the hassle in the first place....
I replaced both the LCD and the Digitizer just last week on my Sensation. I had the the touch screen issues you guys are talking about, but as soon as I upgraded the radio the problems went away.
Here's a post with the firmware update. You have to be rooted and have your bootloader unlocked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385439
Well can you please PM or post which one you ended up buying
Does anybody has got the link to replacement guide in relation to original lcd + digitizer? On yt I just see how to replace only digitizer but I want to buy an original set (lcd + digit) and replace it. I'm afraid of getting the dust after changing just digitizer.
I bought digitalizer for 30euro and followed you tube video to change it my self... The repair shop asked 180euro for the repair (300 new phone) so I gambled and it was worth it.
Good thing on sensation and htc phones is you can replace the digitalizer alone compared to example Samsung where u need to buy and replace lcd screen same time. Costs loots more.
Sensation XE. Bricked kernel. ViperS ROM. Powered by Mugen battery.
Yeah, but while replacing only a digitizer it's very easy to get dust under it when man doesn't have laboratory conditions.. And then what? Starting all from the beginning? Some time ago I saw on ebay a digitizer + lcd for htc sensation for about 50$ but I just don't know how to replace it
Actually when u have working digitalizer connected u don't need to diassemble. Ucan just pull the screen out with knife from the frame. (because flat cable u need to put phone to pieces) I left some dust under first but then saw this trick on YouTube and used it to clean under screen with micro dust towel.. Anyway even with the minor dust its lot better than broken screen.

You tube is your friend.
On you tube are only videos that show how to replace just digitizer or how to DISASSEMBLE lcd + digitizer. I'm looking for info how to ASSEMBLE digitizer + lcd set.
just seen a pair on ebay for $55 :good:
ebay item number: 130646942239
From where should I know which type (A or B) I need to buy? Another problem - how to ASSEMBLE it?
Does anybody know if every lcd + digitizer works with normal sensation? I mean if there exist different versions etc. I have sensation from Europe. Im going to buy the whole screen so I need to know it. Additional question, does lcd + digit from sensation xe works with normal senny? Thnx in advance.

I bought my digitizer on ebay for ~ 35$ and changed it using youtube videos. Everything works perfectly.

quick question about fixing screen

ok so I dropped my one s and my screen quit working (its all black). It still registers when I touch it though (I can still unlock it and everything) does this mean I just need to replace the screen? Or could there be more to it than that? If you need more information just ask. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
EDIT: There's a crack in the screen from the drop. But it's so thin it's almost impossible to see.

I had the same issue. the easiest option is to buy the LCD/digitizer with the Glass, but the cost is around $120.
the cheaper option is for you to separate the glass for the LCD/digitizer yourself and just order the glass yourself $5
that's what I went and did and it didn't go so well for me, broke the LCD while taking the shattered glass off.

I have purchased this, as the LCD and touch are working fine. In your opinion, would a mobile technician be able to handle the procedure to separate the glass lens and replace it ?
I'm sure a technician can, but taking off the glued glass is a lengthy process.. took me 2 hours.
