Launch Accessories - Epic 4G Accessories

I noticed that the Epic goes on the dock backwards... Is this right?

Sorta interested in the 2 cases for the phone. Both look like cheap snap on cases, but if they have these in store on the launch day i'll probably pick the black case up.
$29.99 is ridiculous for a clear plastic snap on case. $34.99 is even more ridiculous for a leather side case, when you can buy a generic leather side holster on ebay for 10 bucks.
I'm liking the dock though!

No, they obviously put that picture together wrong. No ports on that side of the phone.

thanks for the link OP. Will have to see how big the phone is in hand to see if I want to get one of the cases. Wondering how vulnerable to camera lens is when lieing it down.

The camera protrudes from the devices back. Much like the Nexus One, and quite a few other phones out currently, when placed on a surface with the back down, the main parts that will be touching the ground is the camera lens.
My Nexus's camera lens got scratched up pretty quickly! That was WITH a case on because the Seidio Innocase didn't have a raised area over the camera lense.

A fast review of my Resin Skin Case

I ordered this on Feb 12 and got it today Feb 16, would of probably been faster if it wasn't for the weekend and Presidents day.
Unlike my first of the same color with checkered marks, this one is clear and smoke colored, Fitment is fine, putting it on for the first time was a tight fit but it will give you the peace of mind that once its ON, its ON forever and this sucker isnt going anywhere. Fitment is perfect and all holes line up. What I like most about this is that it extends over the Camera lens unlike the previous one in which there was no protection at all.
I like it and will be ordering from these guys in the future.
www.googlenexusoneaccessories.com for $12.99, price might be a little high but I am very satisfied.
Not a bad price for a perfect fit & good protection!
Is this actually a crystal case? if so then I think it's a little too steep on the price.
But it does have an acrylic / rubbery look to it compared to a normal crystal case, but then again, also the pictures are quite blurry.

No its not a crystal case. Its a silicon resin case thats somewhat elastic. Yeah those pics are blurry but thats the best I can do for now since I used my G1 to take the shots.

Just looked at the invoice and its listed as :
NEXUS ONE CANDY SKIN CASE - TRANSPARENT SMOKE
you will not regret buying this.
How does the feel of the case compare to the Checkered/Argyle smoke case? That's the case I have right now, and I would definitely be interested in upgrading if the material feels the same.
Ordered yesterday and awaiting ship notification.
Does this still work if you put it in the dock?
Just ordered. Waiting for shipping conf. I got the clear candy one. I like the look of the N1 so if I can show it off as much as possible great.
I am getting this mostly for the grip and feel. Though it is nice it will protect it.

No it will not work on a dock, if you have no plans of using a dock then this is the way to do. I dont think that there are any cases out there that will work with the Nexus dock.
Would the case block the camera lens?
The case does not block the camera lens. There is a small opening over the center of the glass lens so while the lens is protected from most scratches I haven't seen any effect on pictures (thought I haven't taken many). One thing i noticed though is that the small opening seems to attract dust which is hard to wipe off. A can of compressed air solves that problem though.
Think I might just order this one, using the checkered case right now and would love the cover for the camera lens.
BTW, there's a 15% off coupon for this website. Just use the code "nexus15". (w/o quotes).
Makes the total $11.04.
Is this better then the crystal cases?
How much thickness does this add to the phone? I am interested in some protection for my nexus, but don't want to double its thickness like many of the rubber cases do.
Just received the case. Here are the goods:
Fits perfectly
Protects the camera without ruining pictures
Flexible rubbery plastic provides good protection
And the bad:
Couldn't get it to fit properly with my phantomskinz
Harder to get the charger to plug in (inserted at slight angle)
Overall it's very good. It'll protect against most falls but you'll still need a screen protector. It fit over my phantomskinz snuggly but the skin and the case kept rubbing and sticking together making it difficult to install properly (some of the alignment was off) so I opted to remove the back parts of my skin - now it fits perfectly.
-And the bad:
---Harder to get the charger to plug in (inserted at slight angle)
I can confirm this. Nothing a little exacto work couldn't fix though
It looks so good, does it fit to the phone?

[Q] Silicone (soft) case for Epic 4G?

I've never had a slider phone before, so I was wondering if it is feasible / likely that there will be soft cases available for the Epic? I really love the OEM silicone case my BB Curve 8330 has - it protects it from scratches and bumps while being relatively thin and pleasant to hold (and dirt cheap, too!). While I think reasonable people can differ, I believe soft cases offer better protection from drops (not just protecting the actual corners like a hard case, but reducing the shock to the phone as a whole).
I can see how it could be difficult to get a soft case to properly adhere to the phone, but I've also seen a few such cases for the Moment (though not very many, and not through more established channels - just isolated ones on eBay). Is this just a matter of taste, or does that type of case not work well with sliders (either because it won't stay on, or because in order to do so, it must impede either the sliding mechanism or other functions of the phone)?
I was looking for a case the other day and I did see one listed, but I'd like to see how it actually works. With a slider, most cases are two part -- the top piece snaps onto the screen, and the back piece snaps onto the back.
The top piece generally doesn't have a lot of surface area and really only protects the edges and gives it a lip so you can put the screen face down on a table or something. But because of that, you don't have a lot to work with for surface area for the case to grip onto.
http://store.cheapdroids.com/Zooly-Silicone-Skin-Jelly-Case-Orange-for-Samsung-Epic-4G.html is that soft case I was looking at.
In looking at that one and reading the description, it's not totally apparent to me that the case allows you to slide out the keyboard. It almost looks like a conventional silicone case, and perhaps you have to remove it to slide open the keyboard (which would stink). Alternatively, maybe there's an opening for the keyboard on the side, but then the back half of the phone would have to be able to slide relatively frictionlessly against the back part of the case.
I wish they had more pictures, or, better yet, that someone would post a hands-on review!
Thanks for the info though - it's good to have someplace to start!
the screen is big enough to use the virtual keyboard they should make a soft gel case that prevents it from opening ive had the phone for a while and i still haven't used the keypad
I saw a silicone soft case for the Moto Cliq in a Tmobile store.
See I want Samsung branded accessories for the Epic. Which means the belt pouch, and the gel case. Do you think any place will offer it?

Maybe so, but if I was content with that, I'd have probably kept my Evo!
When I picked up my Epic 4G this am from Radio Shack, I bought one of those soft rubberly like cases that fit the Epic perfectly. All appropriate areas are open. It is a two piece and the slider works with them in place no problem. Cost was $14.99 and is black in color.

I got that one too, then took it the hell off. My case did not slide well with it on, like there was some friction, and then the front part of the keypad got a few light scuffs from said friction. If yours fits, thats all good and dandy, but mind did not.
Yup, I just did the same, took off that
Yup, I just did the same. I took off that cover. I took a closer look at it and the nubs that snap the cover to the Epic do slightly stick up enough to prevent a smooth closing of the cover. Guess I will just have to keep in in one of those special cases or wallet like thingies for protection then.
Disappointing to hear, I prefer a softer case
I went ahead and ordered some $4 shipped case off of eBay just to see what that's about. I'll try to post pictures once I get it.

haha yeah fake carbon is a no-no. anywho, i ordred the plain black version from ebay and its exactly the same on that radio shack was offering except it was for $7 instead of the $14.99. its hard plastic but coated with rubber. i got it today in the mail, put it on and then quickly took it off. it lightly scratched my keys .. i kept the bottom part (battery part) on for now cuz i do not want to scratch the bottom.
This is the downfall of sliders
Limited case selection!
It's hard to find a TPU case or a Silicone case like the ones the hero uses.
The ones that you guys are talking about (the two piece) ones do little to absorb shock. They're plastic coated with basically soft touch rubber...

The only TPU or Gel cases that I have seen that work well with sliders and provide protection are the Crystal slips ( Ebay, Boxwave ), TPU Gel cases ( Ebay ).
I have a Crystal slip on my Touch Pro 2 and love it but it will be a few weeks before the template comes out for a Epic 4g crystal slip.

Hisense Sero 7 Pro [Case]

I have really enjoyed my new S7 but realized I needed a case. Instead of adding this to the existing S7 dev threads for new roms (thanks xbobxexpert and RemmyLee!) I thought it would be good if everyone can post any cases they have tried.
I have discovered that the best fit case (right now) is an ipad mini case. Yeah, I actually bought an "i" something.
This is for the "Belkin Chambray Tab Cover Case with Stand for the Apple iPad mini Dark Gray"
It has elastic straps on the corners which allows it to stretch. Also, the ipad mini is a 1/4" wider, thus there is a gap on the case, however, the S7 doesn't slide around, leaving plenty of space for a stylus.
The strap does cover the front camera and the power button. I just push the strap to use the power button, and remove the strap to use the front camera.
The case does cover the back camera.
I'm using a leather Nexus 7 case. Its perfect. The only thing it blocks is the HDMI port. Ill get some pics later
Pics would be awesome.

This is the one I'll likely get.
I just have to decide which color.
My Nexus 7 has a black case so maybe get the Magenta.
More apt to let my SO have, it seeing how I bought it for her.
Does that case add to much bulk?
I see several screen protectors have already come to market. I just purchased the XtremeGuard protector for $9.99 (after adding in the site-wide 40% off coupon.) I'll definitely post back with my experience but from what I read, installation will be a *****.
So now I'm looking for cases. I'd like rubber bumper-style cases that fit snug around the back to protect it from mild abuse. Nobody seems to make one at this point. I hate leather cases because they are bulky, harder to grip, and their quality is usually lacking. I'm thinking of purchasing a case designed for a similar shaped tablet and modifying it as needed. So far the closest sized tablet is the Kindle HD 7". The Sero 7 Pro has dimensions of 7.87" x 4.95" x .43" (or in metric: 199.9mm x 125.7mm x 10.9mm.) The Barnes & Noble Nook HD has dimensions of 7.65" x 5" x .43". What do you guys think? I may need to cut some holes for a charging port, camera, microphone, etc but the protection which the case would offer would still be uncompromised.

hello, can you tell me which Nexus 7 case you bought (brand name) and does it cover the back camera? thanks
Just as a temp, I'm using a Kindle Fire case. Not the Fire HD just the Fire. It use elastic straps on each corner, I just leave the top right strap off to keep from covering light sensor and camera. It will work until I find a real one.

I decided to do another Amazon search for cases and came across another one by i-UniK. I'm not familiar with the brand, but I am liking the looks of it. It appears to be new with no reviews yet and at a pretty reasonable price ($13.99). It looks pretty good with a magnetic cover and it appears there are appropriate cut-outs for the front facing camera along with the light sensor. Very tempted by it. For those that are curious, you can check it out at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D3MPRDC/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title

Oddly, the i-unik case is categorized in Home & Kitchen, so I guess people aren't finding it when they search for cases.
Anyways, I found it too late after I had ordered the i-blason, but even if I had found it, I would have gone with the i-blason as it looks more "appealing" to me with the stitching around the front of tablet.

Wow, I never noticed where the i-unik case was 'placed' as far as categories are concerned.. that makes a lot of sense when it comes to no reviews - nobody knew it existed, haha!
EDIT: The Uni-Lock clip on my case broke after a few weeks. Most reviews on amazon report the same issue. The lock is flimsy and will not last. Sadly this nice case is ruined by a cheap plastic latch. I returned mine and can no longer recommend it.
I got my i-Blason i-Folio Slim Hard Shell Stand case Cover for Hisense Sero 7 Pro Android Tablet with Elastic Hand Strap, Stylus Loop & Bonus Stylus (3 Year Warranty) (Black) today. Ordered from amazon, shipped by i-BLASON (now available fullfilled by amazon for less).
First of all, the case is great. Fit and finish are excellent.
Sadly though, the "Stylus Loop & Bonus Stylus" are nowhere to be found. I suspect this is an error in the description (copied from the "Leather" case). However, one review on amazon from June 12th apparently did get the stylus, so I'm not sure what's up with that? Gonna have to send off an email or two and see what happens. FYI: Even the description on i-BLASON's site says it comes with the bonus stylus.
Now, back to the case...
The snap-in fit appears to be quite secure. It's hard to pry the tablet loose without bending the case sides back, so I don't think I'll have to worry about it accidentally popping out of the shell.
The lock for the cover works in both the open and closed positions, giving a solid, secure feeling to the case. I haven't seen the "Leather" version of the case, but I imagine the hand strap works better with this version with the cover locked.
Holes for the rear camera, flash and speakers are positioned well and should not interfere with those features. There is no need for a hole for the front camera, because unlike the "Leather" version of the case, there is nothing covering the front of the tablet. This makes the hard shell version of the case thinner, but I suppose the "Leather" case would offer some additional protection if you were to drop the unit with the cover open. Personally, I prefer the more open design.
To use the stand feature you pull the "bottom" of the tablet away from the flap (the Velcro that holds the rear cover flat when you are not using the built-in stand feature is quite strong) and then slot it into one of 3 grooves in the front cover. The 2 rearmost positions work well, but, for me at least, the front one (the one that would have the shallowest angle) does not. The tablet slips easily from that slot and lays down flat. For a shallow angle it is possible to just fold the cover under the back and turn the tablet around the other way (180 from the normal stand position). That creates a nice low angle for typing on the screen.
All in all I'm quite happy with the case, but disappointed about the missing stylus.
If anyone has any questions I haven't answered, ask.
Aloha, Tim
I've been a big fan of the slim cases that Blurex has made for the 7" tablets, specifically the Acer A100 and Nexus 7. So, when I picked up a Hisense Sero 7 Pro, I contacted Blurex to see if they intended to produce a case for it. Sadly, they passed, but I noticed a similar case for the $99 Sero 7 on I-Blason's site. It lacked the cut-out for the rear-facing camera, but otherwise looked like a nice option. Well, about a week ago I spotted the same case for the Pro version being offered on Amazon for $19.95 and ordered it. The package arrived yesterday and so far I'm very pleased with the fit and build quality of the case.
Like the Blurex cases, it doesn't cover the front glass as all. It protects the corners and offers easy access to all the ports and buttons. Unlike Blurex (which uses a leather covered spring-clip), I-Blason's case has a plastic clip on the side to hold the cover closed. It's attached to the case with elastic and opens easily enough with one hand. You can also use the clip to secure the flap when the case is open. As long as the plastic doesn't break, it seems like a nice feature. If someone wanted to lose the clip, and X-acto blade and some sandpaper would make easy work of it.
It also has a built-in hand strap which is nicely made as well. There's a piece of Velcro which holds the hinged part of the back leather to the plastic case. If you open it, the case acts as a 3-position stand for the tablet in landscape mode. The only this that's a little strange is the hinge on the front cover. I've played with the case for a day, and haven't found a situation where the hinge actual comes into play. In fact, it actually causes the cover to pop-up slightly when it's closed, although I'm sure it will flatten out after a couple days.
The verdict? I'm really and impressed with this case. It's nicely designed and has a high-quality build. For people who aren't a fan of cases that add bulk or cover the bezel, I highly recommend the I-Blason Slim Case.

I wish I would of found this case before I bought a case this weekend. Or at least before I tossed all the packaging and receipt. I ordered one of these as well. It took 2 case purchases before I was happy with my Kindle Fire. I suppose buying two cases for the Sero will be acceptable.
I probably will continue using the case I picked up and I will talk about it in a second. I have a bit more unique requirements than most others. My tablet rides in the trunk of either my scooter or my motorcycle almost daily. I was looking for a case that had good enough protection to prevent any damage from tossing around in the trunk. I had been putting the tablet inside my soft-side cooler but I think the i-blason with the plastic case should provide enough protection.
I have been using the Medge universal 7" case. This is a bulky case and fully zips closed around the tablet. I think it is great for activities like I need it for with superp protection. The piece the tablet sits on is about 1/8" wider on all sides so it gives good impact protection. I like a slim case for day to day use and I am betting I will switch to the i-Blason one, but I have been happy with the medge one as well.

Imak Ultra Slim Flip Case Review

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/IMAK-Genuine...ll_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item35c4060221&_uhb=1
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=IMAK+nexus+4&catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20130701083452
Aside from the hilariously bad English on the back of the front cover it looks really good. I ended up buying one today, will see what happens when it comes. Basically it's a VERY slim flip cover that doesn't even use a standard hard shell. It uses some sort of sticky thing from the looks of it.
Go to ebay for pics. Has a lot of pics of the product there.
--------------------------------
Edit:
Got it today:
http://imgur.com/a/Krorg
Pros:
Glue is strong, if you remove it the glue doesn't stick to the phone.
It's slim as they say.
The cover feels pretty nice.
Magnet keeps case closed
Doesn't add much weight (178g with case on (nexus 4 official weight is 139g) and a back screen protector)
Cons:
If you keep removing the phone from the case the glue bubbles a bit (like it doesn't look flat like out of the box. It's still sticky though.
If you lineup the camera/speaker at the back the speaker cutout at the front doesn't lineup properly.
Bad translated English on the back of the flip cover.
All in all, I'd say it's a pretty good case if you don't care about side production and don't need the speaker thingy at the front. Since it's pretty slim it not really a hassle to just open the cover up and talk on the phone that way.
Edit: Managed to line it up halfway where I can use the speaker port on the front and not block the camera or speaker.
Edit: I tested the stand functions of this case. One works, the other does not.

Top right and bottom right works, the top left just slides down.

White balance in that pic is terrible. The background is actually white and the cover (inside) is gray.
Edit:
Updated Ebay link as with another listing as the old one has expired.
Looks pretty nice for a flip cover. No edge protection for drops, but scratch protection seems fine.
Bookmarked to see what an actual owner thinks of it.

Might be good to have bestskinsever body protector which comes wiht screen protector for the sides.
Edit: If someone here can speak chinese, could you translate this??

Edit: You can combine it with the nexus 4 bumper too. Although it might be a bit tight, not sure.

It's saying that the half with flip connected to it, is not connecting to the phone, so you could use it as a stand.

It's like rubbery with a leather like texture (I think they are calling it "snake skin leather" or something?). It doesn't really feed bad. It adds nice grip to the phone and it's not rough to hold.

I had that for the LG G3. I really liked it.
I always use bumper cases because it does not press on the back cover when I put Qi receivers, and also allow heat to escape from the back.
Is there anyone in here who used this Nillkin bumper case? Please tell us how it is...
I can't find it yet available in US, but it's all over ebay and amazon but coming from china...
I've got one on my phone right now, the grey one to be exact.
its nor what i'd call excessively bulky, but some people might complain over that, the screen is protected with the regular bump on the front part, its quite grippy as the back side remains accessible, the feel of the case is amazing, cutouts are perfect, materials are good, uses bumpy tpu-ish gel-ish plastic on the back and front size for the shock apsorbing, sides are made from strong plastic aswell. Buttons are easily accessible, very easy to press, but doesnt press when putting the phone in the pockets, didnt scratch the phone sides (yet) and its easy to remove even tho its a quite tight fit case.
the little backside rubber part make the phone stable on a flat surface, makes it stick a bit from the ground so the camera is protected. If you drop your phone directly on the back part on a non flat ground your camera will prolly be shattered.
Its my everyday case, would for sure recommend it (got it for about 8$ from ebay)
lemme know if you have any more questions :>

Thanks, the rubber at the front, is it loose or does it feel like it will loosen up in time? I have ordered one anyway because I like bumper cases. Thanks

Its very tight, it wont loosen as the side plastic holds it at place, its an unibody case tho, so the rubber wont separate from the plastic bit. But its quite good, disallows the specs of dust and sand to get in between the case and the metal bezels of the phone, overall i'm very satisfied with it on that area.
The grip is great, buttons work very well and it lets heat escape.
I own two spigen, uag and many cheap ones.
I prefer this one any day.
I bought the gray first. Loved it except the front part is gray.. I thought it was black like all the others with the colors on the back.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I bought the orange and I absolutely love it.
I like it so much. That I already bought the other two colors, red and blue.. ?
