Using a Sprint TP2 on a Canadian carrier (3g) - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Hi,
I would like to know if a Sprint TP2 will fully work on a Canadian carrier (like Telus or Rogers)? I know it will work, but I heard from some people it will be stuck to 2g. Is that true? Is there a way to enable 3G in Canada for the Sprint TP2?
Thanks
Sam

No. The Sprint (and Verizon) TP2 devices only have support for 2100 WCDMA in GSM mode which is what is used in Japan and Europe. Canada does not use that frequency, so you'll be limited to 2G if you're using a Sprint TP2 in Canada in GSM mode.

[Q] Nexus S in Canada carriers question

Hi all,
I have this store near my place, he says that his nexus s can work on any Canadian carrier. He says that the nexus s is interchangeable between carriers in canada, that they all work on the same bands.
Is this true?
I am looking for one to work with my existing rogers 3G data/voice plan. He has one telus and one at&t nexus s.
Thanks
Heeter
Telus, Koodo, Rogers, Fido
ALL the SAME phone with the same bands SIM unlocked.
However...
WIND and Mobilicity use AWS so a standard US T-Mobile NS will only work on those networks. This is the same for Quebecor and Shaw (which has not launched yet). The 900, 1,00, and 2100 MHz 3G bands version is what is needed for these networks.
As posted earlier in the thread, Telus, Koodo, Rogers and Fido need the 850,1900 and 2100 MHz 3G Bands version.

Will 3g work with ATT

THis question becoz galaxsy s2 released in UK has the band for the 3g network with USA.
Does anyone know if sensation has the 850/1900 band for 3g with ATT ?
No, it'll only get EDGE on AT&T. Voice will be fine however.

[Q] [Noob question] Frequency bands

I work for Tmous retail sales and we have never really been taught anything about bands. Ive been pretty curious myself since some customers come into the store with AT&t phones asking about tmo service. I have been instructed (by a fellow retail associate) to tell them that no At&t phone will ever have 3G on tmo ( I assume thats just the safe answer though).
real question!
in terms of 3G/4G (hspa+) what bands does tmous use?
same question for AT&t.
To tie that together. ex: If a phone from At&t hypothetically has capabilities to use the same bands as tmous and is unlocked, can it get 3G/4G service on tmous?
i did search around and didnt find a very clear answer so i figured i'd start a thread, im sure other noobs have the same question.
T-Mobile uses 1700 2100 MHz bands for 3G/"4G"
AT&T uses 850 and 1900 MHz bands for 3G/"4G"
Yes if a phone has all those bands for 3G, and it's SIM unlocked you can get 3G on other cell company.
The T-Mobile Vibrant actually has those AT&T bands too, if you SIM unlock the Vibrant, you can get 3G on AT&T.

It's very rare to see a phone that supports both T-Mobile and AT&T 3G bands.

Thanks for the clarification. In hopes that im not being a further nuisance, I was wondering, what about a phone that has 1 of the matching bands?
T-Mobile USA is using the 1700/2100 Mhz bands for 3G (UMTS)
T-Mobile Germany uses 1900/2100 Mhz for 3G (UMTS)
If you couldnt tell, im considering buying an iPhone (to develop on for fun). Will a phone that uses 2100 Mhz only be usable on USA towers (for 3G service)?

No it will not get 3G

What other carriers (anywhere not just USA) use AT&T 3G/4G Frequencies?

What other carriers (anywhere not just USA) use AT&T 3G/4G data Frequencies? Basically where else in the world could one get 3G/4G data with an AT&T phone.
most of Canada, some in austraia and new zeland and some in south America. not sure about aisa. but I can tell you bell telus and rogers from Canada are all compatible. can't really name the ones in other countries but maybe someone else can help out.
Works for me here in Mexico, just had to add the proper APN for my carrier Telcel and its good to go, i think some central and south america countries too i had a friend from Argentina telling me he bought and Infuse also and its working good on his carrier Claro.
Works in India on a few networks. I was on two - Airtel and Tata, and it worked on both. Airtel used 900 GSM and Tata used 1900 GSM for 3G.
Thanks to everyone who has helped!
infuse use 850/1900/2100
and AT&T use 850/1900
and 2100 is used all over the world.
I don't know why american carrier use other frequencies
but except United States, all use 2100 for 3G
so, if you unlock your infuse, you can use it everywhere

Looks like you are referring to EU markets.
I was in India a couple months back, and my Infuse was on 1900 band on Tata network for 3G.

[Q] American HTC Dream support in Europe

Can I bring my T-Mobile HTC dream to England?
It operates on -1700/2100 - 850/900/1800/1900. Will that work with voafone and T-Mobile in the UK?
I'd appreciate a list of supported companies. Also if a company supports 2100 or 1900 but doesn't list 1700 will data work properly?
Wow still using a G1! Right on.
You'll only get EDGE in England (iirc). All carriers in the UK are running 850/1900 UMTS/HSPA (same as AT&T US), and you have frequencies for T-Mobile US, which is different. The reason why the G1 lists as 850/1900 is because that's supported for EDGE, but not UMTS/HSPA.
The 1700/2100 combined for HSPA+ on T-Mobile US is different from the individual 1700 or 2100 used by some carriers in the rest of the world.
So, you'll get slow speeds but you will get some data connection, unless you bring a device with "AT&T" bands.
If you want a phone to run on T-Mo at home and carriers in the UK you'll need one of the few phones (like the Galaxy Nexus) that supports both AT&T and T-Mobile ("pentaband").
