[Q] Unlocked HTC Desire and Froyo - General Questions and Answers

Hi all. I'm new to all this after sacking my iphone in favour of the wonderful Desire a couple of weeks ago. I bought the phone on an O2 (UK) pay and go contract and have put my old iphone sim in which works fine. I am keen to get the 2.2 update so paid to unlock my phone having read that unlocked phones can get it now. However, my phone appears to be unlocked as I can use my wife's 3 sim in there but I still can't get the update yet. How do I do this? Do I need to put in a sim from a provider that has released the update already or is there another way round this? Any help would be appreciated as I am learning my way round what appears to be a great OS and phone, even though I appear to have wasted cash unlocking it!
Thanks, in advance.
Note to self-read the forums..!
I've seen how to do it via the Gold card method but would appreciate advice as to which ROM to use...I'm assuming as I'm branded to O2 the O2 specific one is correct? 124865?
I can't post links yet unfortunately.

Please can some one help???

Hi
Please can anyone help?
I am new to this so you might have to be a little patient with me. I have an Orange SPV M600 (UK) that I assume I will need to unlock as I am moving to Spain very soon, am I right in saying that it has to be unlocked before I can use a Spanish SIM card in it or will it work anyway? Or unlocking my phone will only allow me to use other network SIM cards within the uk? Does this make sense?
I have flashed the phone with the Dopod Rom update great all the Orange stuff has vanished and I am ready to go…..
So here goes. I have tried to unlock my phone any way as it will not do any harm
I have tried the older version and the latest version of Lokiwiz03 but it still does not want to unlock it.
I have tried numerous downloads but I keep coming up against PROPHETv2Unlock I don’t wish to pay out for this code if too this doesn’t work!
Any Ideas on how I can simply type my IME number into a smart but of software that can generate a little bit of code and drop it into something like the Prophet thing and hey presto its unlocked
Can any one point me please into the right direction PLEASE???
I am going bald!
Nick
Well, since you have flashed it with a Dopod ROM, chances is that it may have been unlocked anyway. Get yourself a (say) T-mobile SIM PAYG card, that cost like 2 pounds over the net, which will get to your home within days. Try that on the phone to make sure that it is unlock.
What is the message that tells you that your phone is not unlocked?
Thanks will give it a go!

[Q] HTC HD2 ROM upgrade frustration

Hi all
I bought an HTC HD2 new, boxed, gleaming and unused from eBay. Locked to T-Mobile, it took you guys to help get it unlocked so I could use it with my O2 sim. I tried to upgrade the ROM but found that the version I used - 1.72.110.4 - was in fact back to the T-Mobile bunch of stuff you chaps and lasses had tried so hard to get me away from.
I have found the latest O2 version - 1.72.206.3 - which I have copied to my microSD but each time I attempt to install it on the phone I get an error message saying that its not a valid phone file (sob!).
I can no longer access the internet through my roaming bolt on as the thing is tied up to T-Mobiles programming and until I can bully the phone into accepting the new O2 ROM software I am, proverbally, stuffed.
Can anyone suggest a course of action I might follow to get my poor HD2 back on track? (if the course involves alcohol then I've love you all the more for it).
Any assistance you guys n gals might be able to lend would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards

[Q] Any Unlocking Luck Yet?

Well Ive had this 4G Slide for almost a week now, and Ive still yet to get an unlock code for it. Ive tried three different sites, who all say that the databases have not been updated yet. Ive tried htcsimunlock.com unlockthatphone.com and cellunlocker.com, as to which Ive said, they have all came back negative. I even got a friend of mine to call in to T-Mobile for the code, to which they refused because he wasn't using the phone on his own account. In short, I was wondering if anyone has found any site that offers the code or knows any other way of getting it. Thanks
Not yet mate. Give it a couple of weeks.
You'll have to wait a few more days before unlock codes are widely available for this phone. It takes about 20-30 days after manufacture for the codes to be available. I was trying to buy one too but ended up convincing T-Mobile to give me one. Get a friend to put their sim in your phone and tell T-Mobile that he/she bought the phone off contract at full price and it might work! Good luck
I found a site that clams to sell already unlocked 4G slides
I also want to buy this phone an was looking for an unlocked version to use on WIND Canada.
I looked at Popular Electronics but it looked like it may not be unlocked even though it says it is....
Anyone used this site? They say its unlocked but 600 is a lot of money compared to the 509 on Amazon from HTC if its not going to be unlocked...
I ended up finding another site that had a cheaper unlocked slide. If anyone is looking for this phone new and unlocked I would recommend this site. Just a warning though it took the 1 week to processes my.

My phone works good with WIND voice + 3G/3.5G.
If you're rooted, and have busybox installed, you can follow the following instructions to obtain your unlock code from the phone itself; this worked for myself and others:

[Q] SIM Unlocking [smart]phones nowadays

Hey, everyone!
I was perusing the forums for sim unlocking an HTC 7 pro. Many years have passed since I adquired my 8125, and it is still serving me faithfully. Yes, it is still working
Back then we just had to flash the roms, I think the radio part did the trick, and then phone was thus unlocked.
But the couple of hours I spent today looking for some insight only led me to 3rd party sites which charge money for sim unlocks. Those require the carrier to be mentioned in order for them to provide an unlocking code. So I can't just buy a phone off ebay and expect to get a code from those sites. US cellular, for instance, is never listed on them. Besides, $25 is not bucks where I live >.>
Is that really how SIM unlockings are handled here now, or have I just been really unlucky with my skimmings and searches?
TYVM, have a great day!
I believe there is no free option in order to get the HTC 7 Pro unlocked, unless you can get the seller to call their cell phone provider to get the code. Most, if not all, windows phones don't have a free option to unlock but I could be wrong on that. But if you already have a HTC 7 Pro I think you're gonna have to cough up some cash and use some unlocking websites...
Well, thanks for the straight answer.
Oh, no, I don't have one, yet. I was thinking of Buying one off Ebay, used and locked. It is harsh having to pay for switching carriers, but maybe that is what they had intended with their locking in the first place
Hmmm. Do you know, by chance, if this is the norm for smartphones recently, not being able to sim unlock them at home? Or is this device special for that matter? or was it not popular enough to tinker with it?
TY, again. Peace
I wouldn't say your device special in regards to that, all phones come SIM locked. Its just some android phones are easier to unlock during the process of rooting phones. I know for my old HTC touch running windows, it was easy to unlock since you basically had to move a couple files. I think windows 7 in general makes it harder in general to unlock as opposed to android.
hi, i have Huawi U8150 and it's network locked i can't run all the SIM card.. it can be unlock..?

[Q] My sensation wont recognize a specific simcard

First off, thank you for making a brilliant forum! Now that I dont get any further by searching for information I need som help from you guys.
Thing is: I have two sensations. Both are s-off, rooted, superCID and have the latest coindroid installed. Both are originally tmobile phones which were bought unlocked some while ago. They have both been used successfully in europe until now that im in the US.
For various reasons i have three simcards for these phones. And in one of them t-mobile doesnt seem to work at all. Neither before software modifications or after. The other phone with similar mods have no problems.
The other simcards are a norwegian one and another pay-as-you-go simcard which has been used since t-mobile doesnt work.
Since both phones are rooted and s-off I guess there is a setting somewhere. Where is this particular setting? Anybody that could come a newbie to the rescue?
Thanks!
no setting if phone dont ask for a unlock code or has been unlocked i am going to say bad/banned imi number call t-Mobile and ask them if your phone is black listed
The phone is blocked by tmobile it appears. Bought it off amazon nine months ago. The phone was sold as new and "unlocked" back then and w/o warranty, but not as stolen phone. Im angry right now.
Neither Tmobile or HTC are very helpful on the phone. Costumer service at Tmobile keeps failing to put me over to anyone who can help.
Any tips on how to proceed further? Showing up at one of their shops and stay there until someone is able to help?
Since the phone is without warranty its very tempting to do illegal stuff to it right now.

Only things you can do try att sim but may not work
resell on eBay for parts should get most of your money back or keep calling T-Mobile there the only ones who can if they will
